Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
Night 9
Once again, the few remaining crew members had dreaded the nightfall. When it finally came, they all went to their own defensive positions to try to hold off against the attackers. It was more than likely for any one of them to be attacked now; no one was safe.
As usual, Admiral Dane was in his office behind the command center.
Unexpectedly, there was a sharp knock at his door. Cautiously, the Admiral got up to answer it. He stood behind the heavy steel door and spoke to his visitor over the intercom.
“Who’s there?”
A voice replied back, throughout the whole time sounding as if it were to burst out laughing.
“Special delivery for Admiral Dane!”
Dane was puzzled for a moment, but before the next moment passed, the door was forcefully blown open into his face and he was thrown backwards onto the ground. In the doorway stood a familiar figure.
The odd Hunter held out its arm cannon, and at the end of the barrel a large amount of superheated plasma was charging up. Dane did not make any effort to get up, but sat calmly.
“No? Well, in that case I’ll make it right now! HYUK HYUK HYUK HYUK!”
The odd Hunter fired the charged Plasma Beam at Admiral Dane. Instantly, the Admiral threw up his hands and an impenetrable force field appeared. The beam shot bounced right back at the Hunter and struck it square in the chest. The Hunter was sent flying back out of the office by the blast. As the Hunter escaped, its taunts could be heard.
He figured that with his short stature, he would be able to hide very well in the darkness and survive that way. Of course, there was another small creature hiding in the darkness nearby; one that had better eyesight, too.
Goombario was mesmerized by the glowing blue eyes in the shadows at first, but then he realized he was in immediate danger and panicked. He tried to run, but he had concealed himself in a corner, and there was nowhere to go.
“PIKA…”
Goombario felt the air around him become very hot, almost to the point where it singed his mushroomy skin. Then the creature in the darkness unleashed its attack.
“CHUUUUUUUU!”
A massive fire blast attack was launched at point-blank range and struck Goombario directly. Under any normal circumstances, a blow like that would have made a pan-seared Portobello out of him. Somehow the lucky Goomba managed to survive… but the Energy Tank he had found cracked and shattered.
The light caused by the flame had lit the room up just enough for Goombario to see his foe.
Pikachu was out of breath from the attack. Upon seeing the creature, Goombario’s mind flipped to the GF database on heroes he had memorized, and he tattled out Pikachu’s description.
“Pikachu. Small mouse with electric pouches on its cheeks… but this one used a fiery attack? The blue eyes suggest Phazon Corruption. It’s momentarily stunned. I think I can escape.”
After concluding that he could indeed escape, Goombario did so. He was extremely lucky; fireballs happen to be the second-most leading cause of death for Goombas.
------------------------------------------
The sole living GF Demolition Trooper on board was in the Mess Hall.
It was still set up in the chest-high wall formation that Master Chief had created, and the Demo Trooper intended to use it to his own advantage. He had rigged the entrances with mines and had a grenade launcher at the ready.
What he was not expecting was a massive pulse of energy that detonated all of the mines harmlessly. Cursing under his breath, he then saw the monster that had unleashed the pulse enter the room.
Gorea could not see where the Demo Trooper was behind all of the walls, but it knew that he was in here. And as long as he was in the room, it didn’t much matter where, exactly. Gorea roared, and then unleashed the same pulse it had used before, but amplified to a greater magnitude.
This time, all of the tables were disintegrated by the blast, and the Demo Trooper was thrown against the far wall. Growling with delight at finding his prey, Gorea now prepared to unleash its ultimate attack. The Demo Trooper got up and desperately fired a barrage of grenades at the monster, but the majority of them simply bounced right off of it, and Gorea remained undeterred.
The beam hit the Demo Trooper head-on. The massive surge of energy ravaged his armor suit and shattered the Energy Tank he had installed into it, but somehow he remained intact.
Gorea roared with rage, and threw such a tantrum that it did not realize the Demo Trooper sneaking out of the room, nor the shadowy pool creeping up from behind.
Eventually, Gorea calmed down, and underwent a glowing transformation. Standing in Gorea’s place, the shadowy pool observed the bounty hunter known as Spire.
Vivian’s fists burned with flames and she used them to duel against Spire’s rocky appendages. Being made of stone, Spire was powerful, but in his current form he was outmatched by the rapid, agile strikes that Vivian made. Vivian threw one extra-powerful punch to Spire’s face, and his rocky exterior cracked, he felt the Energy Tank he had acquired shatter.
Feeling the rage surge up within him again, Spire gave in to the temptation. He transformed back into Gorea, growing to twice his normal size. The attacks that Vivian launched now could not even put a scratch on Gorea. The monster roared in her face and backed her into a corner. The end was near for her…
Entering the mess hall from the other side of the room was the GF Researcher.
Though she began this trial defenseless, the Researcher had put a massive amount of effort into studying Samus’s suit technology. She wore the end result on her right arm: a prototype arm cannon.
Shaking with fear, she barely managed to hold the arm cannon still as she leveled it at Gorea. The end of the barrel opened into an X-shape, and the four blades began spinning faster and faster. Out of the cannon shot a Super Missile, and it impacted Gorea directly at the glowing orb at its center. There was a blinding flash, a huge explosion, and a terrifying roar.
When the dust cleared, Gorea was no more. Vivian and the Researcher collapsed with exhaustion. The prototype arm cannon that the researcher had created fell to pieces almost immediately after firing the Super Missile. But they were both alive.

To Agents Bobwingo, Cuba Libre, and Fluffy Bunny:
Congratulations on surviving this long, and for wisely keeping your codes to yourselves! Earlier in the game I said I was abandoning this system because the Phazon had been, in short, "pwned." While that was true at the time, the game situation is more favorable to us now. As a result, I am posting this statement to encourage you to keep your options open as we move into the end game. We do not expect you all to simply jump up and down with joy and instantly side with us, but it is important for you to know that the Phazon are very much interested in a joint victory with the remaining IDFH players. We request only that you consider whether you are also open to such an arrangement.
I will not be so presumptuous as to issue orders to any of you. Much has changed since we were last in contact, and we do not particularly feel the need to request townie resources anymore (though we will gladly welcome them if you wish to offer). If you feel up to it, please do get in touch with us and let us know your current status. I will once again be watching your posts closely for the code markers. I am aware that many others likely will be doing so as well, so if you do want to contact me, give special emphasis to making the post blend in well. Brevity is a virtue here, as it is easy for me to simply request further information from you if I do not understand the information you are trying to convey. A time delay on the response may help as well. We are not in any hurry, so feel free to indicate your interest in a joint victory at any point over the next few days.

I don't see why a Town player would not be voting against Csargo or Diamondeye at this point. Both have been evasive when accused.
Also, knowing someone's role isn't reason to trust him, as there are cover roles around. For example, Csargo being U-Mos doesn't mean anything. Only a few roles can be considered likely Town (Admiral Dane, Captain Falcon...) and U-Mos isn't one of them.

Greyblades is right, though - the replacement players are almost half of the remaining players as far as I recall...
There was one night where pikachu did not attack. Did anyone get replaced just around then?
HYUK-ghost is harder to locate since he hasn't shown up in nearly as many writeups, but I think we might get a clue about Pikachu's identity, should he be among the replacements, using that method.
My vote stays where it is now, though. Nictel is a good suspect imho.

The mafia attacks so far:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
N1
Bowsers (2) : Samus and Peach.
Phazons (2) : Dark Samus and Pikachu.
N2
Bowsers (2) : Samus and Peach.
Phazons (2) : Dark Samus and Pikachu.
N4
Bowsers (1) : Doopliss (it's a good assumption that Samus recruited Ironside/Deleter on that night, instead of performing a night attack)
Phazons (1) : Pikachu.
N5
Bowsers (2) : Samus and Deleter.
Phazons (0) : (* not sure how to explain why Pikachu was inactive)
I think either Doopliss didn't have a killing ability before N4, or the mafia are restricted to a maximum of two kills per night. Which is it doesn't matter, the facts remains:
On N1, N2 and N3, the Bowsers attacks were made by Samus and Peach. On N3 Beskar/Peach is killed, and on N4 Doopliss starts killing.
Doopliss being unable to kill before N4 is a better explanation than Doopliss being an inactive player who's been replaced since.
Besides, I've looked at the four replacement players (acin, auto, Grey, Sasaki) and the timing isn't right. They all came in after N4, except you, Greyblades :smug2:

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
Also, IIRC we don't know where Beskar got his scan result about TinCow. I think it likely came from Doopliss, who must have been scanning during the N1-N3 period.
It explains how Beskar got his scan, and it also explains why Doopliss tried to kill on N4 : He was the only one who could kill on that night, Samus being busy recruiting Deleter.
And it explains why he didn't kill on N5 and N6: Samus and Deleter were better choices, and Doopliss would resume his scanning duties.
Lastly, Doopliss resumed killing on N7 because Ironside was lynched on D7.
The story fits. I don't think Doopliss was inactive at all.

You were stationed on the GFS Olympus at the time of the attack, and were close to the medical bay, where Dark Samus breached the hull. You caught a glimpse of her, but she didn’t see you, luckily. You are in fear for your life, and have no real way of defending yourself. You are prepared to do whatever it takes to survive this nightmare.
Your alignment is GF. (Survivalist)
Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces and survive.
Secondary: You are a brave warrior, but not ready to throw your life away. You can ally with Samus and help her fight both Dark Samus and the IDFH, if you think that will save your own skin.

Combat visor doesn't go through cover roles...mmm it's possible the info could be useful (like someone claims an ability that their cover role doesn't show), but exposing the results could reveal what defenses people have and what townies have abilities that makes them worth killing.

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
I know for a fact that if we had chosen to do so we could have gone for a secondary victory of winning with the GF Survivalists and my cover role stated that my primary goal was to defeat all mafia, and my secondary goal was to join with the Samus mafia to defeat Dark Samus and the IDFH, so it is worth considering that you could lose to the Phazon team team and their IDFH team mates ans I would call them right now.

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
Not that I haven't said in-thread, but here goes...
You are a Demolition Trooper serving on board the GFS Olympus.
Your unit was attacked in their quarters and you are one of the few that escaped and survived! You know that what you are dealing with here are some very dangerous hunters. But while you may seem like a grunt, you can hold your own in a firefight- you’ve had to take down Space Pirates on many occasions. You know that the carnage won’t stop until every enemy is gone.
Your alignment is Hero. (Town)
Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces.
Secondary: None
Prime material to waste a lynch on. I've been hit with Scan, Thermal and Combat Visors and everything fits because this is how things are. I'm not scum, and I'm not hiding anything.
Now, can we find a more progressive lynch?!

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
Ok then, unvote
@classical_hero: If I remember correctly both sides are in the same condition; one mafia left each. If anything full town victory is the easiest win as it would just require two correct kills.

Nobody is contesting this. It's been said before that:
IDFH can win with the Phazons, if only these 2 factions are alive.
GF can win with the Bowsers, if only these 2 factions are alive.
But IDFH and GF's primary objective is to get rid of all the threats (winning with the Heroes). There's no reason to have a feud between IDFH and GF, even more so when this feud is being fueled by the mafia.

As such I dont think he's mafia or at least not one of the people killing last night.
@Diamondeye: Your claim now shows 2 abilities, how do you explain it? Did you have Hazard Shield on N8 when Greyblades scanned you?
@everyone: Can anyone explain how shields work? Can you have more than once shield active at night? Are they passive or active abilities?

He could have gotten another ability last night.

As far as I know you can only have one on at a time and I'm not sure if they are turned on untill specifically turned off or switched.

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
Well, just trying to guess based on what I've seen of the game so far.
47 players
3 Bowser at start: Peach, disguised as IDFH, Samus, disguised as GF. Dooblis disguised as ??
3 Phazon at start. Strife, disguised as IDFH, Dark Samus, disguised as IDFH., Pikachu, disguised as ???
Space Pirate disguised as IDFH
Omega Weapon, disguised as GF
Dedede: Disguised as IDFH
That's 9, which leaves 38 innocents of various stripes.
It seems reasonable to assume that there is symmetry between GF and IDFH and also with regards to the heroes' background.
3 GF-based Heroes are dead, 3 IDFH-based Heroes are dead.
Captain Falcon and Admiral Dane are almost certainly Heroes.
Now, we could have one more from each side as Heroes, leaving 28 to be 14 Survivalists of each type.
Or, the Captain and the Admiral could be the only remaining Heroes, leaving 30 to be 15 and 15.
12 GF Survivalists dead, plus the Deleter.
9 IDFH Survivalists Dead.
Assuming symmetry, which I think is reasonable, regardless of if there are two more heroes, we have one too many GF characters. One of GF Researcher, Demo Trooper, and U-mos is a fake. Researcher used super missile. It's either Demo Trooper or U-mos. Who's our U-mos?

You can add U-Mos (Csargo's true role, or cover role) and Kanden, who survived an attack by Doopliss On Night 7.

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
You know what, since my case is based on symmetry, it seems to me that Dooplis needs to be disguised as IDFH. Atpg and others have said DE isn't pikachu. Therefore, I'm going to have to unvote, vote: csargo.
P.S. On the subject of role claims, I'm goombario, and I'm an IDFH survivalist.

****PROPAGANDA ALERT****
IDFH cannot win with the mafia if one Hero/GF/Bowser is still alive, and we have evidence that at least 2 heroes are alive. The IDFH numerical advantage means nothing here.

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
Romanic, I remembered Gorea his team was Omega Weapon. He's listed. There was an odd number of players, and Dedede was neutral. Now for cover-role parity, Pikachu should also be disguised as GF. So if someone else is still out there who's GF that isn't on the list, they should speak up now, because then we'd know we have two fakes, almost certainly both of U-mos and Demo Trooper.

Absolutely true. Like I said, we don't expect people to join in with us now. There are several days left to go. We only ask our IDFH friends to consider their options as the rest of you lot are butchered like swine.

Also, DE's a GF Hero, which there shouldn't be any more of, ignoring Dane. His role is an obvious fake. He should be lynched, regardless of whether he's Doopliss or Pikachu.

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
By my count, the dead bodies are:
12 GF (+ one, if we count Deleter who was converted)
10 IDFH (not 9)
6 Heroes
3 Bowsers (with one recruited GF)
2 Phazons
1 Omega Weapon
1 Space Pirate
1 Neutral
---
36 total
Conclusions:
* If the IDFH and GF teams started balanced, IDFH has 3 more remaining members alive.
* Cover roles can't have started balanced, unless there's a remaining anti-Town with a GF cover role.
With these conclusions, it's very likely that most, if not all, remaining IDFH roles are legit. Conversely, GF roles are our best suspects. Not sure where the Hero claims fit in this (Diamondeye), but I thought we should at least see one.
Interesting perspective autolycus, good thinking.
Known roles U-Mos (Csargo) should be GF. GF Demo Trooper (DE) claimed to be Hero (should be GF, like Sasaki pointed out). GF Researcher (Greyblades) is GF. Goombario (autolycus) is IDFH. Kanden (???) should be GF. Vivian (???) should be IDFH. Captain Falcon (???) should be Hero or IDFH. Admiral Dane (???) should be Hero or IDFH.
U-Mos and Kanden are good suspects, specially since they both survived a night attack. DE's role is also suspect, but I wouldn't mind a major switch to lynch Csargo.

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
Another thought,
So far all the killers were seen killing as their true role
CH killed as Samus, not as Ghor.
Ironside killed as The Deleter, not James Pierce.
etc...
Last night we've seen the GF Researcher perform a kill, so I would think the role is legit, not a cover role.
Thus, Greyblades should be Townie.
Make sense?

Re: [Council of Villains] A State of Corruption [In play]
So both Csargo and DE claim to be GF based hero's. I find it more likely U-Mos to be a hero than a GF Demo Trooper. How come all the other GF Hero's have a specific name but DE's is just a general one? Alternatively, go by the "mafia look similar to their cover role theory", whoever Goombario is has a shot at being Dooplis.
So lynch DE, but if he turns up non-Dooplis, look for Goombario.
