Have to say that the way WH got Scopia from Methodios is.. brilliant
And please don't sing anymore.. It is really painful tohearsee this here![]()
I'm saying that WH should keep Scopia only because it seems like the only punishment Methodios is going to get from Alexandria.
One thing that I'll say in favour of Tristan's actions at Alexandria is that it's hardly fair to try and hang him IC for a completely OOC action that been plausibly explained IC when the action itself is frowned upon IC yet is an important and realistic part of the game OOC.

"Okay, here come the cavalry, get your swords out lads!" - the Captain details his orders to the pikemen
I think the whole situation has been played brilliantly by everyone. I'm actually more interested in what's going on in Egypt than I am in the Caesar situation.
Thanks for the support guys!
I'll point out that everything I did and said was IC. Taking Scopia was for punishing Methodios. Saying the other senators disgusted me was because you appeared to take Tagaris' side, when he did something horrible IC and they didn't want to punish him.
There's no hard feelings here, I hope![]()

Heh, any hard feelings are purely on Methodios' part...
OOC, I can't but congratulate you on a well executed land-grab...
That doesn't mean I won't continue raising hell and call Nikiphoros all sorts of bad names...![]()

OOC, I have one thing to say about Scopia.
When I play my turn tonight I need to know who owns it.
Language like "will give" does not help me. I need to know who's SOT to obey so land ownership needs to be crystal clear at any one point in time.
If I have to, I'll freeze the game and ask TinCow who owns what settlements at any one time just so I don't accidentally violate someone's SOT.
But it would make things go easier if you guys simply made your language with land transfers very simple and very clear.
Thank you.

As of this moment, Nikiphoros Manouelitis still own Scopia. Given the controvery that has gone on over it, "will give" isn't strong enough language.
I'm amused that we seem to fight the hardest over the crappiest provinces. Durazzo, Scopia, and there has been a lot of fighting behind the scenes over Gaza.

Realized this morning that "will give" wasn't suitable. Unfortunately, I was in class then...
Came back and saw that maybe I shouldn't give it back. That's what I'll do, for now.
True PK, true. But remember that it's not "good land, bad land" that counts. It's having it that does.

Actually, I don't even know why I'm ruling on this. Let's deal with this IC. If Methodios and Nikiphoros both claim to own Scopia, let the Basileus figure out who's right. I'm not getting involved.

Very true. But it seems the fiercest fights happen over villages and wooden castles.
As long as the Emperor lets me know who owns Scopia by tonight.
*edit*
Nevermind, it doesn't seem like Methodios is actually claiming to own Scopia. So, unless I hear otherwise, Niki owns it.

Appeal made to the Basileos in the Magnaura... Will see where that leads...

What I am confused by is the question of "what is actually being contested?"
Methodios gave Niki land. Niki left the House. Methodios didn't like it and did not give permission. Niki said he "will give" the land back. Now he says he won't.
Exactly what is the Emperor ruling on? Whether "will give" means "I give now"?
To me, both players have followed the rules and I am at a loss as to what is being "disputed."
Methodios not liking that Niki legally took his land is not enough of a reason to freeze the game IMHO.

Sorry for the double post but I am not freezing the game. I just figured out a perfectly fine IC way to get Mak out of this while the Emperor deliberates.
I'll work on the save tonight. If Scopia is figured out by then, great. If it isn't, then it will depend on what both Tristan and WH have in their SOT's. If they both leave the build queue to Megas's discretion, I'll probably build something. If one or neither of them do, Scopia will sit idle. That will allow me to get the game moving while keeping me from even accidentally breaking the law.

That's for the Basileus to figure out.
Don't worry, there will be no OOC interference from me on this issue in any way, including 'warning' and penalties. I'm going to attempt to do away with that system altogether in favor of IC resolution of everything that can conceivably be resolved IC.
Seeing how Methodios got stripped for sacking Alexandria, I'm not sure we'll see many more sacking/extermination in the years to come...
Except maybe from some with powerful backing...![]()
Philippe 1er de Francein King of the Franks
Methodios wasn't stripped by a decree from the Senate but by the duplicity of a vassal. I'm sure we'll see sacking/exterminating quite often in this game. The game is basically built to encourage it. Look at what is happening with Cairo. In an SP game, any one of us would have at least sacked it.

I think Scopia holds the record right now for having the largest number of owners throughout the game. (4)
