That's true, but how difficult is it to change the hardcoding? It doesn't seem like a hard thing to do, or is it?

Seem? Have any experience in this matter. I learnt along time ago that programming is a lot more complicated than it looks at first.

Believe me Foot, when I said "That's true, but how difficult is it to change the hardcoding?" I did not mean it in "it can't be so difficult" way. Those words were a question inquiring upon the diffculty of changing harcoding, not a statement on how easy it is. I have no programming experience and therefore I have no idea how difficult it is. That is why I was asking how difficult it is to change the hardcoding. So, does anyone have a more definite answer?

If you wrote the program and have it available to you it probably isn't a relatively hard thing to do. If you didn't write the program, it would probably take months and be quite illegal.

Actually I was referring to the second part of your post where you said "It doesn't seem like a hard thing to do, or is it?"

he was still asking... he didnt state anything foot.

To the best of my knowledge, (TTBOMK?) the difficulty changes with the game. Silent hunter 3 modders were able to add totally new compartments on the sub's and remove the hatches, which is against the hardcoding. Half life modders were also able to do the same before valve released the source code.

No his initial assumption is that it wasn't hard, thats why he didn't start that sentence with "is it a hard thing to do?". It is my experience that programming is a lot more complex than it would at first seem, I was correcting him on that account.

I know it may be a bit difficult for you to believe this because of my screwed-up syntax (I am a Russian after all), but I never assumed, even initially, that changing the hardcoding is easy. You can take my word for it.
