Post Patch [04/30]: Industrial buildings do not cause unrest..,

This was not mentioned in the patch notes so I presume it's a bug. Industrial buildings post-patch no longer cause unrest (from industrialization). It's now possible to have happy populus with no garrison, maximum research in humanism + absolute monarchy... At least the unrest part has become way too easy now.

OK, my mistake on this one. I was playing as GB. It appears, constitutional monarchies do not have to worry about industrial unrest since the do not have any "lower class". Does not make sense, but I guess, it's a feature - makes playing GB even more ridiculously easy.

Tax/upkeep change complaints are going to look mild compared to:

I guess we can say that the changes have resulted in a need to rebalance.

Of course it means rebalancing more than just the units. It means rebalancing the economies and abilities of various factions.

It also means a rebalance (or the need to rebalance) in the difficulty levels.

I think they should make it so non-cities provinces can actually get the Max-rank town building instead of the upgrade before. At the moment, it seems to be the case where you this is only the case when it is the capital.

Actually they do cause industrial unrest. It is that just the first two tiers aren't causing it. Tier 3 causes one and tier 4 causes two industrial unrest for the lowest class.

Quite historical correct actually because only real industrialization caused unrest because craftsmen were replaced by cheap labor.

hmm. are we playing the same game? maybe something is wrong with mine but i have no industrial unrest all the way to the very top tier of industrial buildings. are you sure, your game has the latest patch? what you describe sounds like pre-patch.

I started a game as France last night and all upper tiers of industrial buildings like mines, weavers and machine tools factories are causing industrial unrest if you are either an absolute monarchy or a republic. Once they are water powered or steam powered they are causing unrest according to their text cards. In my GB campaign I had a spy in Paris and the French had massive industrial unrest caused by steam driven factories.

I just checked in some old saves (pre-patch) and played one turn to be sure that the changes were applied. France as a republic is still suffering from industrial unrest. As is Sweden as an absolute monarchy.

Slaists, are you playing GB or Poland? CM doesn't get industrial unrest, because it doesn't have the lower class, only middle & nobles.

Ok, that would explain why the faction (GB) does not get industrial unrest. Is is not clear how CA imagined manning all those factories under CM without a lower class though: slaves??.

However, playing as Ottomans (AM) I also do not see any industrialization unrest and none is displayed in the upcoming building descriptions. Maybe I have not played long enough. Will check later.

CM: nobility, middle class (white collar)

Lower class exists only in AM & Republics, not in CM. Hence the lack of industrial unrest.

Ideally, the game should have had all three classes present in all political systems. I guess they didn't want to complicate the whole political order thing too much - how do you decide which class has power in the country?

Historically, many European nations allowed only property owners to vote still in the middle of the XIX century, barring all salaried workers from elections.

That, of course, did not stop them from taking up arms and starting revolutions...
