Ther germans, persians and internal disputes smashed the Romans in the end.

But the romans smashed Greece and Gaul and Carthage.

It is true the romans tried to copy greek warfare, but they changed their style because the formations were too rigid and were not suitable for the terrain and the enemy they were fighting against.

    But Marian changed everything.

The greeks and the barbarians of gaul and germany were far from united, each at each other's throats. Then again, same for the roman politicians in the senate.

Actually, the romans did conquer germany but they lost control of it in AD9-11.

All these pikes are only part of the fervorous fetish for sodomy present among Macedonians. They should excel in their new role as filler for the nice cabarets of Macedonia, Roman Province, and also Macedonia, Bosphoritan Vassal State of the Sauromatae.

A rather small northwestern corner of the whole thing HARDLY counts, I daresay. And that wasn't so much "conquered" as "friendly"... for a time.
"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

    YAY a ruined thread!

Nomads have the political stability of a cardhouse, a charismatic leader has to die and they fall into chaos and division. They're empires' life span is so short.

Barbarians uniting nothing more than a few tribes, even then the tribes where largely autonomous. Those brave Germans have never conquered, only hid. They only conquered when they fled for migrating nomads... Sending back the roman lands to chaos and destruction of art, science and architecture.

Hellens, proud people who have much in common with the Romani. They might say they stole the things they boast to have all found out themselves (Ancient Egyptians/Eastern Peoples anyone??). Romans have at least brougth stability to the region. We developed the Hellenistic culture further than the squabling Hellens could. Also the Byzantines made Greece a UNIFIED centre of the world once more, having the Hellenic/Roman lands at the top world order for a long time. Making new or perfectioning greek inventions. Something awed by at the Europeans. Greeks AND Romans made the Rennaissance, be proud, both. The romans had civil wars yes, but at least unified on larger scale. Greece was 3 city states of alliance 1 versus 3 city states of alliance 2. Roman civil wars were west empire vs east empire at least, tis all a matter of organisation.

Try shooting your arrows in our forests, Nomads! We'll hide in the trees and jump on you like a nightmare from hell when you don't expect it.

And then there's the Romans. Those pompous, greedy, arrogant, wannabe-Hellenic fools have only gotten as far as they have because they stole the ideas of others.

Oh, and I almost forgot about the Celts and the Sweboz and whatever else they call themselves. Clearly they are insignificant, or I would have remembered. But they are almost as filthy and as obnoxious and as barbaric as the Hellenes, almost.
FYI guys the celts invented soap and along with the getae and swebozez washed themselves evveryday

Hellenes were always wimpy in the way of hygiene, they never even washed with soap!

The makedonians hid behind different types of walls because they were 2 wimpy to fight like real men. U r right about nomads tho. See above 2 about washing.
