The settlers gathered unenthusiastically in the gathering hall at the time the priest king had issued. Some of the good men burned some incense to drown out the smell of the men.

After some time, Reenk Roink entered the hall, flanked by his retinue of Bronze Companions and some priests. He began to address the crowd: "Settlers, our preliminary investigation has led us to some conclusions. The events on the ship with the sea creature and the attempt on my life last night are related in some way having to do with the god Vode. We do not know why Vode is displeased with us but the guy has always been somewhat of a prick so it is not completely unexpected."

The priest king continued: "The priests have interpreted the signs of the gods and..."

At this point someone in the crowd abruptly interrupted: "lol gods!" However, his insolence went unpunished as he blended away in the mob.

Reenk Roink, after pausing for a few moments, carried on: "The priests have interpreted the signs of the gods and have come to the conclusion that there are usurpers among us who are following the dictates of Vode. Their goal does not stop at taking my life. They want this entire settlement to be destroyed."

"As of now, we have not identified who exactly these usurpers, but I assure you, I will oversee a thorough investigation of everyone's dwellings as well as consult the priests for info..."

The priest king was interrupted yet again, this time by a visible well dressed man: "Now just wait a minute! You agreed that us settlers would have a say in policy, and we want a say in this!"

Reenk Roink replied: "Yes, but we already have gathered much information and are close to unmask..."

An ordinary dressed man interjected: "Yes, it is us who will oversee the investigation. Every day we will gather the evidence and discuss it, and then vote for who we think is the usurper. Then we will execute that man!"

To this suggestion the settlers cheered in unison while the priest king looked at them incredulously. Soon his expression turned to one of disgust and he stormed out of the hall.

I have to say about the duels in Midgaard, they provide a good example of what can happen....

Not a single mafia was killed in a duel, the one time a mafia did fight (Sarathos) he concealed his ability and no one could tell there was a gap in duel scores... we killed off a few innocents some of which were suspects as well though, thats why i think the duelling system should be used carefully, if we really need to we can pressure suspects to fight just to remove a suspect....

In terms of actually killing the mafia i think its unlikely in a duel unless we know we have a good guy with a high duel score....

If anyone tells you they can detect mafia from dueling lynch them instantly.... and then TinCow just for good measure ~;)

Edit: ok didn't think i took that long, started before RR posted...

So have we actually discussed anything apart from Pizza being a mason and a spineless peasent, White eyes love for dueling and dueling itselfs... ohh and some commie propaganda...

so umm who to vote for...

Really dumb of me to ask, for my survival. Trust me or don't. I have to find a way to be useful now.

Whats a club?

I had a club once... Back when I had to go to Morganville. I needed a new heel for my shoe. So I went to Shelbyville, which is what we call Morganville these days. Anyway, to get to Shelbyville cost a sacrifice. In those days, sacrifices were only allowed on children. "Take me grandkids for the trip" you'd say. Aaaanyway the important part is that I need a new heel for my shoe. And a club.

How do you join a big piece of wood? Should I burn myself? Ooh look...a coconut. Can I grow nuts?

:stupido:

Night fell upon the settlement and most everything had become dark and still, but the house of the man they called The Flax had a dim glow emanating from it. Inside The Flax was engrossed in his writing and scribbled away copiously. You see, The Flax was a scribe, and had devoted his life to the noble cause of Writing. He was composing yet another work of polemic against Reading, which scribes considered to be Writing’s arch nemesis.

It was at this moment that a man slipped into the house of The Flax. He was so silent that The Flax could not hear him over the sound of the gentle scratching sound his quill made when striking the papyrus.

Not many moments passed before the man pounced and drove a blade deep into the side of the neck of The Flax. Mortally wounded, The Flax spent his last moments desperately trying to prevent the blood spilling on his work. It was really a useless effort, however, as his killer shoved his now limp body off the desk and proceeded to roll up a sheet of papyrus and smoke it, well pleased with his kill.

In the outskirts of the settlement, a man stood next to an unpitched tent. He seemed to be engaged in a heated argument with an owls. After much hooting and hollering the owl let out a series of howls that those learned in the art of owl interpretation would render as: "How can I checkmate the one who not only refuses to make a move, but doesn’t even know how to play the game?"

Before the man could offer his final thoughts, a large figure, clad in well crafted armor that was dark as obsidian approached. The man turned his attention to the armored figure and cheerfully greeted him: "Hiya!"

The armored figure responded in a cool, deep tone: "What is your name?" What a critical error this warrior of Vode committed as the man opened his mouth...

"They call me pevergreen."

"It's spelled with a small p because my mommy said I was special."

"So what’s that big sword for?"

"It's shiny."

"I think I stepped in something."

"People say I talk a lot."

"Do you think so?"

"You look funny"

"This is the longest conversation I’ve ever had!"

"People sometimes throw rocks at me."

"Are you going to throw rocks at me?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

"How about now?"

Throughout this, the armored man went through a wide range of emotions he thought he had succeeded in suppressing: he was initially bored, then became confused, then became irritated, then became enraged, and finally felt some fear and pity.

He finally shouted: "ENOUGH! I have HAD my FILL of the nonsense that you freaks in this settlement constantly spout that continually tests my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you do not draw your sword RIGHT NOW and take the first swing I will give the world a sight that even the immortal gods in the Divine Forest have never seen. Do I make myself perfectly CLEAR!"

Immediately, pevergreen picked up a stick and began to draw a sword with it in the mud. This action so infuriated the armored man that he did not even wait for pevergreen to initiate the fight as was his custom. He pulled out his mace and pounded pevergreen’s head into the mud, and although the blow instantly killed him, the armored man continued to pound away pevergreen into a bloody pulp, each strike sending pink mist into the air.

As dawn finally woke from her slumber, the two dead bodies were discovered by a slave and the priest king Reenk Roink was quickly notified. The settlers were summoned to the gathering hall and all arrived on time except the one called Yoyoma who was found sleeping in his home with the sacred text of OsiOsi in one hand and an empty bottle of wine with a pretty ribbon in the other.

Finally when all the living settlers had arrived, Reenk Roink announced to the crowd: "The bodies of two of you have been found brutally murdered. Do go and bicker and conjecture in all your futility so that you may have an innocent executed. I'm going to be drink-"

The priest king was interrupted by a slave who barged inside the entrance hall holding a rock that while covered with blood still had an uncanny shine. The slave exclaimed: "I found these on master pevergreen's body, LOOK!"

As all present in the gathering gazed into the palm sized stone, they saw the entire events of pevergreen's last moments being played out. They saw the argument with the owl and they saw the armored man approach and kill him. They even saw who the armored man was. It was the man called Ares!

Reenk Roink immediately gave the order to his Bronze Companions to draw their swords and seize Ares, but amazingly, this drew protestations from the crowd who demanded they vote on the matter.

The priest king angrily stormed out of the gathering hall muttering: "Why did I have to lead such a piss hat bunch..."

Am I the only person here who finds it extremely convenient that we have simply been told who was guilty? Even if that was the result of a so-called "watcher," presumably the watcher would simply have that information themselves and then have to produce it to the rest of us. It seems absurdly suspicious that a completely anonymous 'stone' was left on the body to convince us all of what happened. How do we know that this stone wasn't placed there by the killer?

Askthepizzaguy

I questioned Ares via instant messenger. He seemed more shocked and stunned that he had been exposed, and it took prodding him repeatedly before he claimed a fake role.

If he had been innocent, he would have immediately tried to convince me he was innocent, and not hesitated.

I don't think it's 100% proof he's guilty either, but questioning him in private, in real time, he basically sputtered in his defense. I think the pressure got to him and he couldn't come up with a lie fast enough.

1) Say it was endgame, would you want ares to be one of the 3-4 living people?
2) Do you have a better day one lynch?

A watcher role is plausible, and Ares claimed to have a battle rating of 0 ever though the pm he posted says 3.

Because it took him like 15 minutes to come up with it, and was more stunned at being exposed than adamant he was innocent, nor did he really try to convince me he was innocent.

I am listening to your playing the devil's advocate, and I am keeping an open mind. I doubt his partner would defend him so openly.

1) Actually, yes, because I feel like Ares is the kind of person I would be able to sway with my arguments if I felt the need to. I don't feel particularly threatened by him as a player and I think I would stand a far better chance at spotting an irregularity in his behavior than I would in someone like you, GH, Andres, etc.

If i have succumbed to nephilim i know nothing of it, unless players aren't informed that they have been changed then your a fat liar, And a bandwagon has started against me over it? If you continuously take peoples words for things so scantly then town will never win, i'm not going to be angry at anyone particular, but it couldnt do any harm to think for yourself, had i have made this baseless statement about seireikhaan before he made one up about me, the exact thing would have happened to him, far to easy to forge.

I mose well mention some observations before you maul me:

- Andres was dragged into the mess hall, so his killer is probably from another room
- The killer hates families and children, just an observation

All votes after seireikhaan have been

-best lead we have

It isn't a lead though its a statement by a player who hasn't been proven innocent himself, and unless ive been mistaken he's lying

-inclined to believe im guilt

I wonder why? That annoys me highly.

-willing to go with it

Oh you mean your willing to follow a bandwagon just to kill a random person off?

You guys need to read that role PM. Are you honestly telling me that Ares, of all people, forged that in 15 minutes? The quote with a joke in it and the entire writing style are entirely consistent with the role PM Reenk sent to me. It takes me 30 minutes to do a decent role forgery. I don't mean to be insulting to Ares, but his writing style leaves a lot to be desired. I simply don't think he could have faked that in the short period of time he had. If it is fake, someone else wrote it for him and he had it before ATPG said anything to him.

Ok.

But if he were a mafia, and he had a large role Pm from the host, he could have forged it ahead of time, obviously. Or made very minor edits, that's not hard either. Vote who you like. I think it should be Ares, but massive bandwagons aren't necessary. If town decides to change their mind, we need other people with votes on them. I would say, however, that the Good Men have the ability to seriously mess with the tally, so a close vote is still dangerous. I think several Good Men should abstain.

Let me ask you a question: Are you so afraid of Ares that you think we won't be able to spot his scuminess unless we lynch him right here and right now?

I think he's guilty because the writeup says he was. When do we ever get this good of a day one lynch? At worst, following your line of reasoning will either give ares the victory if he survives, or force the watcher role to reveal. At worst, my line of reasoning gets rid of a huge WIFOM in the late game.

There is zero evidence that he was framed. That is a baseless assumption and on the wrong side of occam's razor.

You are wrong about this. Occam's razor points to his innocence because:

When do we ever get this good of a day one lynch?

We don't, plain and simple. This is too good to be true. Therefore it is not. Mafia are not anonymously revealed in first day write-ups.

We're going to have to be careful with the vote tally given the nature of the game:

Ares: 5 (shlin, sasaki,Ichigo, white_eyes, FactionHeir
FactionHeir: 2 (GH (2))
PizzaGuy: 1(PizzaGuy)

You are wrong about this. Occam's razor points to his innocence because:

Mafia are not anonymously revealed in first day write-ups.

"too good to be true" is a fallacy. Mafia have been investigated night one, was that "too good to be true"? Your suggestion that ares being framed would prove he is innocent is also faulty, we don't know enough about the game roles to say that.

Mafia are not anonymously revealed in first day write-ups.

Why? I can just as easily say "townies are not framed by the host in the first day write-up".

Essentially you are claiming that a role that can frame people is more likely than a role that can detect a killer. Actually you are claiming that a role that can detect a killer is IMPOSSIBLE which is clearly not true. We almost never find mafia by analysis on day one so Ares is clearly the best choice. Again, read the worst case scenarios.

Ok....everybody knows I have a duel score of two....so no harm in revealing now, right?
Hello White_eyes:D, thanks for playing

Quote:
Farming is the eternal war continuously being waged by mankind against the relentlessly invading hordes of the evil plant kingdom.

Definition of farming
You are a Farmer

Background:

In the beginning the gods/mods decided to create a game. A mortal multiplayer on-earth role playing game called Life. So they created the Earth. Then they created the factions that would inhabit the Earth. On the one hand there were the plants, a faction of seemingly passive warriors who overwhelmed others with their sheer numbers. On the other hand there were the animals, who were much less stationary and much less numerous than the plants.

The animals at first were seriously nerfed, with only some among them being able to cause minimal damage the plants by grazing attacks. What was worse was that animal poop was plant food! For a long time, the plants pwned the animals. Plant spamming was a frequent complaint to the gods/mods.

Obviously the game was unbalanced so the gods/mods decided to introduce a new animal class: the human. The human was the most dangerous animal yet. However, the human had a long learning curve so for quite some time the plants had an easy time pwing the human players who were all noobs at that point. Their gathering attack was even less effective against the plants than the other animals' grazing attack.

Eventually however, some clans playing on certain maps unlocked a new package: the farmer. For the first time, the humans began to turn the tide against the plants, much to the chagrin of the latter who accused the humans of h4x. Now that the basic techniques of farming have been honed the learning curve is gone and over 70% of players now choose to be farmers.

Beware, however, as the gods/mods are rumored to introduce a new expansion pack called Urbanization which will nerf the farmer and force him to the margins of Life! Luckily the release date is a long time away. Until then, you will continue to rack up the points as a farmer. You did have to find a new server though, as you got banned from your old one.

Battle Rating:

2 - You don't have any type of military training and are dirt poor (actually you have a lot of dirt...) but you are ripped from toiling the fields all day and you can swing a mean hoe.

Victory Conditions:

Outlast the usurpers (settler victory)

I don't get it. An investigation would prove him innocent, yet he seems reluctant to even accept my help. That doesn't fly with me. I don't care who you lynch, but he needs to be investigated or lynched soon. I gotta run, I also volunteer for the investigation or lynch, to squelch any rumors I am guilty.

Still recommend him for the lynch, just offering alternatives.

pevergreen kept talking about the onion because he was in character. He's playing a doddering old man. Several of his quotes were taken directly from Grandpa Simpson. That's why I replied with my comment about wolves, it was also a reference to Grandpa Simpson. This is the quote from The Simpsons:

We can’t bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell ‘em stories that don’t go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. ‘Give me five bees for a quarter,’ you’d say.
Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

When you do a regular copy and paste it will go to standard org font.

everyone had the same greeting, i would think that includes mafia too, stop making a big deal over it.

The deal is that you said "full pm" and then didn't quote the full pm. It fits the pattern of you quoting from a fakeclaim. In a game where everyone gets a role pm, any mafioso who is under suspicion will be asked for their role pm. If the host doesn't provide one then they are up _____ creek, especially since many people don't have english as a first language. That's why I say the mafia have fakeclaims.

Eh? No matter what I do with my PM (quote it, copy and paste it, preview it, quote it again) it still retains the formatting

It depends whether you have that "a/A" thing selected, as I recall from Cosa nuova (?) some people have it selected by default or something.

Having hosted two games where I have handed the Mafia cover roles, I suspect RR did the same in this one.
Why? because basically nothing is illegal in this game short of screen shots.
BUT, I suspect a lot of the information we receive by PM or reveals will be bogus or misleading, even though its messengers might not know it is.

Questions:

Did the usurpers plant a magic stone on pevergreen to frame Ares?
Did the usurper Ares make a grave mistake by killing pevergreen?
Is this a plot by the good men to get rid of us (the men)?
Are all good men usurpers?

There is a gamble in either believing the night result or to consider it a fabrication.

I think the discussion about whether Ares' role PM was fake or not is pointless. All this talk about the presence or lack of an introduction line is a waste of time. If that role PM is fake, it was an extremely good forgery. It mimics Reenk's writing style perfectly, and is laced with just the proper amount of humor throughout. No one would make that good of a forgery and then not put in the standard greeting line that we ALL got. It is far more likely that Ares is telling the truth and didn't post it at first because he didn't think it was actually part of the role. This is consistent with him not posting the joke earlier as well. As for the formating, I've seen that happen many times with real role PMs. It happens when people simply highlight and copy what they see in their PM box instead of hitting reply and using the formated text inside the reply box. The better point of discussion is whether the current situation seems like a frame attempt or whether it seems like a legitimate reveal of a mafioso.

This isn't like you (as townie)--you generally read more carefully. You are striking at straw men and ignoring what has been said. The claim isn't that the pm is a forgery.

shlin and W_E took up several posts discussing the formating of Ares' role PM and the intro line. They were the target of my response.

Hence my comment about strawmen. It's not townie to reply to the less important arguments and ignore the major ones.

Reenk almost certainly provided the mafia with fakeclaims. I went over the reasons why. This means that he wrote the townie pm that ares posted, i.e. it is not a forgery. When W_E's pointed out the lack of greeting I theorized that ares's pm had the greeting, then the mafia pm, and then the townie pm. This is only convincing in a confirmation bias way as GH pointed out, but it is still something worth noting.

So why would you insist that aren's pm couldn't be a forgery and spend time attacking the formatting theory which had already been debunked by four other people? You are being selective in which arguments you reply to.

The point of the discussing the role pm is that at best, it does nothing to show his innocence. That leads you back to your claim that there can't possibly be a watcher role in this game. There isn't any basis for that claim.

Here's how it is:

Scenario A-1: There is a watcher role--it caught ares--we lynch ares--we lynch mafia
Scenario A-2: Ares is being framed--Ares is innocent--we lynch ares--we lynch a townie
Scenario A-3: Ares is being framed--Ares is still guilty--we lynch ares--we lynch a SK/what have you

Scenario B-1: There is a watcher role--it caught ares--we let ares live--ares is mafia--we lose
Scenario B-2: There is a watcher role--it caught ares--we let ares live--the watcher role is forced to reveal and dies the next night.
Scenario B-3: Ares is being framed--Ares is innocent----we let ares live--we lynch some other townie (95%)
Scenario B-4: Ares is being framed--Ares is still guilty--we let ares live--we lynch a townie instead of a SK/what have you (95%)

By not lynching Ares we would have everything to lose and very little to gain. Unless you have some compelling case you want to make against someone? Don't let your desire to not be fooled by a frame job dissuade you from making the right choice. It's the correct decision with the information at hand.

On the Ares lynch:

pros:
WIFOM goes away
avoid lynching a valuable pro town role. Ares is just a builder and thus expandable.
Potential mafia lynch

cons:
Framing possibilities
Waste of a lynch/stifles conversation.

The PM analysis is useless like so many others have said. However, Areses responses seem out of character and inconsistent. For that alone he would make a good lynch. The writeup incrimination is just an added bonus.

The coin says vote: Ares

No.
Yes.
Maybe.
I have no idea.

I've skipped about 20 posts. I shall continue to follow this game however.

Who was I? I was a secret role. I had no abilities, save things that may pop up.

I may reveal my role, just no direct quotes, according to the PM from reenk.

I am the village idiot! I ask lots of questions and annoy people a lot. They try to kill me before the god Pisuf takes me away and puts me somewhere else, thus continuing the cycle. This time, Pisuf got his powers taken away by the other gods, so being his chosen one doesnt help anymore (He considered me the greatest human alive)

My battle rating was 1, my victory was outlasting the usurpers.

I was given a cover role, that of a Farmer.

If there are other farmers, when/if they reveal I can verify the PM.

In the PM which Reenk told me I was dead, he said that at least my special ability came into play.

I believe the reason Tincow and Sasaki are clashing is because you both have complete different assumptions of the write up, Sasaki takes it the straight forward, perhaps logical way, Tincow believes it is set up and at this stage has every reason to believe so, however I think your both acting normally IMHO.

If Pevergreen comes here and says the person who kills him is revealed then The result is still unclear as we don't know if we can someone editing the write up, with Pever's personality I'm doubt his role pm would be that straight forward either, I'm not taking anything for granted on this one, but I owuld mention this wouldn't I? It's my life on the line afterall.

Now back with roleplaying

Are you serious? *I* have been ignoring major arguments? I was the first person who had the guts to stick his neck out for Ares when he was about to be bandwagoned into an insta-lynch. I've been providing a good deal of arguments for my position this entire day phase. Simply making one post which concentrates on a lesser issue doesn't change the fact that I've been arguing heavily this entire time.

The point of the discussing the role pm is that at best, it does nothing to show his innocence. That leads you back to your claim that there can't possibly be a watcher role in this game.

WHOA. WHOA. WHOA.

I claimed "there can't possibly be a watcher role in this game"? You accuse me about going after a straw man, and then you just fabricate a statement? What I said was that a watcher role would presumably only get the information in a night result PM and would have to disclose it just like any other detective. I never said that there wasn't a watcher in this game, just that the stone which showed Ares did not seem like it was the result of a watcher.

Now who isn't reading carefully? :inquisitive:

I find TinCow's defense of Ares a little strange, but I do not feel strongly yet that he would be like a mafia partner. I seriously doubt the mafia would risk defending their partner this early, but I can't see how Ares could be innocent. Most plausible explanation so far that I have seen was that... stone thing? might have been planted there by the mafia to frame Ares. To me, TinCow does not have the scum vibe, otherwise this is an incredibly risky tactic.

It may be worth solving this mystery once and for all by investigating Ares, dead or alive. I do not want him to escape from death as mafia, nor do I want a frame job as good as this to screw with us all game.

We need to solve this conclusively before we can move on. In the meantime, we can look at FactionHeir, I haven't played many games with him but you other guys can read him better than me. Or anyone else you want to look at.

Agreed, but I still fail to see the motive.

Why not share the information while it's in your power to do so? He must have known he was going to be lynched. The other possibility is that he tweaked the pm to make himself look like a serial killer when he was actually mafia. Pretty much all he would have to do I think is change "vode" to "Edgar" and delete his partner's name. I would have to reread the starting story to make sure of that.

Any mafia would love this. there's no reason not to jump on Ares. After all, he is guilty. Now, that's lazy mafia... not bothering to listen to defenses, discussions, or participate in any way but a mindless bandwagon on someone, even if they are guilty.

I'm joining that bandwagon now, because NOW there is no reason not to. But the eagerness to bandwagon is something I have a real problem with. It's lazy and it is a defensive form of play. The best defense is to make sure some poor schmuck gets lynched instead of you, and jump on any reasonable bandwagon.

Finger of suspicion: Sasaki Kojiro.

I re-read everything, and everything you did in reaction to the writeup looks closed minded and eager to get someone lynched. And you were awfully eager to see that chat log. You wanted as much evidence as possible to put the nail in his coffin. You were dismissive of everyone who even bothered to point out it wasn't ironclad stuff. Turns out Ares is guilty, sure... but you didn't sound much like a townie to me when you reacted to the news that there was evidence he was guilty. You just ate it up.

Valid perhaps is your reluctance to have people send me information; but it also explains a lot if you're mafia. You don't want the masons to have more info, do you?

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=2173413&postcount=337

Sasaki seems absolutely certain this writeup is all the proof in the world. But that kind of certainty should not exist from a townie. Even the other people who bandwagonned Ares wanted to hear his defense, and wanted to discuss it. You sound like you wanted to shut down the argument and the discussion; that's my impression anyway.

TinCow defended Ares, and TinCow was wrong. What mafia takes a gamble and defends basically a known criminal? I doubt TinCow is guilty, but I get that vibe from you Sasaki. Not just a vibe, but evidence that you have a single-minded purpose to destroy someone without having a discussion about it, and promoting a massive bandwagon.

Not fair-minded townie behavior.

https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=2173437&postcount=351

Sasaki seems to have a vendetta against Ares here. So eager to jump on ANYTHING that makes Ares seem guilty.

TinCow and GH both wanted to thoroughly discuss this one. That is sticking their necks out. Sasaki didn't bother.

Seems to know fake roles are below the real ones, on the assumption we have 2, how would he know this?

I think we have a prime candidate for a night investigation. Sasaki, you're too good a player to be this single-minded about destroying someone. Seemed most everyone else was trying to think about it, in spite of the massive evidence. You bought and swallowed everything wholesale. I frown on that.

Seems to know fake roles are below the real ones, on the assumption we have 2, how would he know this?

Without being committal, this is actually a very good point. I'm pretty sure that in Capo II the people that had cover roles had their fakes first and then the real thing.

hm....

im a little concerned about Ares' ACTUAL role.

He's been quite inconsistent with his reveals and such, and well, here's what i've come to decide:

His Latest role reveal is fake or AT LEAST tweaked. here's the reason:

Before the man could offer his final thoughts, a large figure, clad in well crafted armor that was dark as obsidian approached. The man turned his attention to the armored figure and cheerfully greeted him: "Hiya!"

The armored figure responded in a cool, deep tone: "What is your name?" What a critical error this warrior of Vode committed as the man opened his mouth...

and compare to this:

You are Edgar's Swordman

Background:

You were heir apparent to become priest king of a powerful city, but on his deathbed, your father decided that you would not succeed him due to your cruel and unjust nature. You killed your father because of this and thus did Edgar enter your life.

Edgar is the god of fighting. He is no friend of your people, but then again, you are not either.

notice the the different God's?

second pointer:

0 - Before devoting yourself to Edgar you were a warrior of legendary power. Now that you are in the his service, you have truly become a vessel of illusion. You are indeed the most powerful human in the world. Yet you never show any of your power whilst dueling, doing so would make Reenk Roink jealous of your wondrous ability.

Why would a God of Fighting not want to fight? it just doesnt make sense

Another point on this is that i thought Reenk was a priest? priest's dont like strength, they like magic and stuff like that ( i assume)

Ares also doesnt make much of a defence for himself - almost wanted to be lynched.

This can only lead me to believe that if we lynch him, it might release some special power or something.

the best i recommend we do is that someone who is REALLY Strong (pref with max fighting skills) to challenge him and kill him that way, or if we have a vig or something, to murder him.

im really tempted to lynch him too, but im going to:

Vote: Abstain

just incase he really is hiding more things

This is a good point. In the kill he is at least pretending to be a killer of Vode. As I said earlier it would have been easy to switch "vode" to "edgar". Reasons to pretend to be a SK would be:

1) just for fun
2) Because he felt his partner had revealed himself somehow
3) Because he wanted us to think that his partner had revealed himself somehow

That is the spoiler tag button. when you push it, it adds [SPOIL ] And [/SPOIL ] without the spaces, and those are spoiler tags. They surround whatever you want hidden under a button.

@ The case on Tincow. I don't get the accusations towards him. Townies defend maifa all the time, look at GF3 with Reenk and Beefy, it happens. Furthermore Tincow's defense has been in character and does nothing to raise my suspicions.

@Beefys two PM's: My guess is he's a pro town role, after all a mafioso would want to stay as much out of the public spotlight as possible. For now it would be best for the town to not demand the PM.

It's come to my attention that I need to do this in the proper format: Accept: Sasaki Kojiro
(challenge accepted)

And blah-de-blah-de-blah, in spoilers.
I still find your leap on 777Ares777 to be just a bit too single-minded, uncompromising, and enthusiastic to be genuinely townie behavior. Seemed as though you wouldn't even entertain the suggestion that it could have been some kind of frame job. Whether he ended up being guilty or not is beside the point. Any mafia, I think, would react with great enthusiasm to the idea of hard evidence against anyone but themselves, and not even begin to think critically about the idea that it could be wrong. Either that, or they might quietly bandwagon without much discussion. I get more of a townie vibe from anyone who questioned or was resistant to just nodding and saying "ok" to what we were told.

As it stands, it's even been suggested that Ares may in fact not be a serial killer, but a mafioso. Another unlikely possibility; he could have a suicide role like an actor. While I agree that the most likely circumstance is that he's scum, be it serial killer or murderer, I believe it's not genuinely townie behavior to just readily accept it without much thought. Secondly, I find it very odd that given my exposure as a mason or claimed mason, and my pathetically low duel rating, you would be so keen on killing me in a duel. I have nothing to lose, so I accepted. I already think you're scum, and if for some reason I was able to best you in battle, then w00t, go me. I think we already had this discussion about pointless duels, and I think your duel with me is pointless, and possibly scummy. This will eliminate me as a suspect when I die, because a mafia with a low duel rating willingly getting killed in battle makes no sense. If I manage to kill you somehow, then I will have eliminated a potentially scummy person who was just a little bit too eager to give the Ares writeup your complete and unwavering faith, and my exposure as a mason nearly no credibility whatsoever.

What are you Sasaki? Are you a skeptic, or a believer? Do you automatically assume things must be true, or do you assume things must be false, or do you consider things with an open mind? You believed with absolute conviction Ares was guilty, well before allowing him to present his defense (and well before allowing him to further incriminate himself), yet you disbelieved with absolute conviction the possibility that I was a mason and therefore trustworthy. Total belief, and total disbelief, and in both cases, you offered no benefit of the doubt to the opposing viewpoint.

If it weren't such an absolutist statement, I'd quote that line from Star Wars regarding the Sith, and how only a Sith deals in absolutes. Before discussion, before evidence, before the court of public opinion, before an open mind could weigh the facts, you decided. Do you possess greater knowledge than the rest of us regarding the nature of the game? Do you possess greater confidence in your knowledge than we do? And if you are a townie, why are you so hell-bent on killing a mason without even the opportunity for an investigation? These thoughts and more run through my mind when I read all your posts leading up to your challenging me. As such, it didn't take a moment's hesitation for me to make a summary judgment against you, Sasaki: One of us has to go. We can afford to get rid of you, because as some have observed about me, you will contribute post-mortem, and we already got one of them scumbags this round. And we can afford to lose me, as I already volunteered to die any place, any time, and I prefer not to waste a lynch or an investigation on my weak, useless, exposed mason self if I can easily be murdered in battle.

Some may disagree with my suicide methods, but you need to eliminate suspects, and I see this as a very convenient way of eliminating at least one top suspect for the town. Should I win the day, I will use this as a rallying cry against pointless duels once again. Should I fail, I've wasted none of the town's resources in proving myself.

Don't for a moment think that I've made this personal or about me; it's about the team doing better with either or both of us cleared as suspects, and we can afford to figure this out, with the wonderful gift the "gods" have bestowed upon us last night with Ares' being exposed and later confessing.

This battle was inevitable from the beginning. Two men enter... one man leaves.

En garde, Sasaki Kojiro, and good luck.

How do you not know what a mason is? You've included versions of them in your games, such as the Simpsons family.

Why do you want to start going after everyone who might have a special role, especially when Ares was pushing this agenda?

Why do you want to know everyone's role?

Although there is enough evidence to the culpability of Ares in that murder, I fear that his "real" PM reveal might just be a way to get himself lynched, either gaining power for himself or for his partner through "sacrifice"...

So I won't be part of this lynch... There are enough votes towards that already.

That also is what I was thinking...

We've spent pages and pages of posts discussing Ares' guilt (which was already proven by the write-up, if you wish to give it credit) while a second murder hasn't even been discussed yet...

So the probability of Ares providing cover for a second murderr looms ever bigger the more consideration I give that line of thought...

But with so many men of low extraction in the process, I should have known that such things would have been overlooked...
