If you wish to skip the fancy storytelling, music, images, and videos, that is fine. As long as you give the game your best shot during the game itself, you can ignore the writeups if you wish. Someone can even give you the gist of it.

pevergreen was piloting his starfighter through the Meteo asteroid field, attempting to get to the planet Fortuna, on the other side. He was looking forward to making repairs on his ship and getting a hot meal after the disastrous battle on Corneria. His starfighter zipped easily between the dangerous asteroids at speeds that would boggle the mind of the average Cornerian. He did his usual status report.

Suddenly, his communications system went haywire. His comm signal was being jammed by an unknown source. Cold sweat began to pool down his back, and his hands began to tense up. He looked at his sensor panel, and nothing showed up on the screen.

Suddenly, from behind a large asteroid, pevergreen spotted a vessel approaching from the rear. Brilliant red plasma streaked past pever's ship. Reacting instinctively, pevergreen executed a barrel roll to try to avoid being hit. Then he swerved behind the nearest asteroid and attempted to do a vertical loop to evade his attacker. However, the unknown attacker reversed thrusters and waited for pevergreen to come out of the vertical loop. Now pevergreen was right in its sights.

Red plasma struck pevergreen's engines and his starfighter stalled. The reactor exploded, sending pevergreen adrift. A second blast ripped away the entire starboard half of pevergreen's vessel. All pevergreen could do was smash his instrument panels with his fists in frustration and panic. Then he looked up and saw a bright burst of plasma headed straight for his cockpit.

Sector Y


Death is Yonder piloted his craft through the Sector Y nebula, on his way toward the base on Planet Katina. There was heavy ion storm activity which required skillful piloting and heavy shielding in order to avoid being damaged. Fortunately Death is Yonder had both of those things in ample supply.

The ion activity greatly increased, and soon a gravitational vortex began to open directly off of his starboard bow. Death is Yonder immediately tried to execute evasive maneuvers, but his engines couldn't overpower a gravity well of this magnitude.

There was nothing Death is Yonder could do. He was soon pulled inside the vortex. The scene inside was indescribable chaos.... there was a vast quantity of space debris. Metal girders, titanium plating, asteroid clusters, and ship debris was being spun around at enormous sub-light speeds. The maelstrom was horrifying to witness... and there was nothing the tiny starfighter could do once it was trapped inside the spinning vortex. Death is Yonder saw a massive metal beam moving in his direction, and there was no time and no way to evade collision.

That's a rather WIFOM-y reasoning, I don't think we can make any assumptions about the kills at this time. It would be very easy for someone who voted for pever to kill him and then claim that the kill is obviously a setup against people who voted pever.

I'm actually more interested in the number of kills. Chaotix predicted there would be quite a lot of evil factions, yet 2 kills? With town split into a town and neutral camp, and the two kills being rather different, this could mean there are two evil factions.

The red laser was Panther of Star Wolf, it's his signature weapon. That makes me think Star Wolf has one kill max to split between them.

Well that theory is shot then. I could've sworn that the lasers were red when I played that game...

I would still been the kill on Star Wolf, though. I thought of Panther immediately when I knew it was a one shot kill... it might've been a CHARGED LAZER, though, in which case it might've been Wolf himself.

(At this point, I can get really geeky for you. Typically in the games plasma guns are depicted as green, so I'm not sure what to think of red plasma. When you CHARGE YAH LAZER, though, the beam turns red... so it could be a CHARGED plasma beam. Of course, neither Wolf nor Panther nor Leon has a Plasma Beam initially.)

Plasma will change color based upon the combination of noble gases in it, and it's overall temperature. For it to go from green to red indicates either an influx of a gas, which is pointless, or a decrease in temperature, also pointless.

Actually, that isn't true.

It is a Rubicon set-up. The vemons are simply another town faction. Half the players here (roughly) would be vemonians.

There are the Cornies, and the Vemons. Both with their respective heroes (Starfox and StarWolf). Both of these factions are ultimately trying to kill BB (the Big Bad), with the lesser victory condition of being stronger in number than the other town faction.

Also, the Cornies would want StarWolf dead, however, the Venoms would want StarFox dead. (So having either StarFox or StarWolf revealed, would end up in being voted against by the town)

choxorn was piloting his starfighter through the Meteo asteroid field, trying to get to Katina the quickest way: via the hyperspace warp hidden in the asteroids. He noticed some space wreckage nearby that looked suspiciously like a Venomian starfighter. He slowed his speed, and set sensors to maximum, and darted from behind one asteroid to the other, trying not to be spotted. In the distance, he spotted some craft he did not recognize. Thinking quickly, he shut down all engines and all systems besides life support and thrusters, and put his ship into a drift mode. A quick tap on the stabilizers threw him off his axis, and within seconds, he looked like an ordinary piece of space debris. With no lights or EM activity, the ship was dark and sensors wouldn't be able to easily detect it.

This was a difficult maneuver, but his years of training helped prepare him for this moment. He kept a keen eye out for any large, fast moving asteroids, and simply accepted the damage his vessel was taking from the dust and rocks that were colliding with his ship. It would look rough when it was all over, but the ship would hold together.

choxorn spotted a large asteroid off in the distance, and did a quick calculation in his head. He pressed on his forward thrusters to knock him slightly out of the roll and in the direction of the large asteroid. When he got near, he turned on the navcomputer and estimated the distance to target. He found a nice crater which would serve as a relatively safe place to land. When he had almost crashed into the asteroid, he quickly tapped on the stabilizers and came out of the roll, then he lowered the landing gear and turned the stabilizers vertical. Once he touched down on the asteroid, he would have to keep the stabilizers on at a low thrust setting, so that he could cling to the surface of the asteroid in this near-zero gravity situation. The gas from the thrusters would look exactly like thermal vents.

After an hour of clinging to the surface of the asteroid, he turned on his sensor equipment and the cabin heater, since his instrument panels were starting to freeze up. After several rotations of the asteroid, he was able to tell that any ships in the area had left. It was time to leave. He switched off the stabilizers and safely drifted away from the large asteroid, and headed straight for the warp rings. They were only about 30,000 kilometers away. Choxorn turned on the deflector shield and eased his vessel out of the densest part of the asteroid field, and fired up his main thruster to maximum. Within minutes, he was at the warp.

choxorn drifted into the first warp ring, and felt a burst of speed as the ship was magnetically propelled forward to the next warp ring. He hit the next warp ring and angled himself to the next one, gaining speed at a significant rate of acceleration. The magnetic rings caused the ship to spin, so choxorn held on for dear life, and switched his inertial dampeners to maximum. The stars outside his cockpit were spinning around so fast that they were nothing more than white blurry rings. He felt the ship shudder as it passed through magnetic rings four, five, and six.... Suddenly, his instrument panels lit up red, and alarms and warning signals went off.


DANGER. DANGER. SUBSPACE ANOMALY DETECTED.

At this rate of speed, and the fact that he was spinning at a rate of 300 revolutions per second, there was no way his little ship could reverse momentum and ease out of the warp zone in time. He was heading straight for the anomaly at 3,000 kilometers per second, and there was nothing he could do about it. He switched on his comm system and sent out one last distress call.

When choxorn entered the anomaly, he was moving too fast to see a great interruption of the space-time continuum; a massive gravity well. All manner of space debris and matter were being flung around at near-light speed. His sensors detected that the center of the anomaly had relatively normal space, and the navcomputer automatically adjusted the ship's thrusters to compensate, and angle it toward normal space, directly down the center of the vortex.

However, sensors also detected a large object being hurtled down the center of the vortex.... a missile with a proton-antiproton warhead. With no way to stop the momentum of his vessel, all he could do was take his chances in the outer edge of the gravity well, and hope he could pull himself back in time. But even though he narrowly missed the proton-antiproton missile, he was flying out of control toward the edges of the well, where there was nothing but chaos, gravity, matter, velocity, and death. He only had seconds left to live.

I think the write-up was more of a hint towards the fact that the void was actually Andross.

1. choxorn couldn't see the void, so for all we know it could be anything.
2. The void apparently was not a distortion of space. That means it wasn't a black hole, and it's more likely that it's just Andross sucking stuff in.

I first came under suspicion because I commented on this post:

Tis me, or do we have a nice mix of Cornerian and Venomian players voting for no lynch? Hmmm...Which, at first glance, clearly deserves more attention focused on it. Hence I commented on this.

But later, when I retracted this, it suddenly screams "scummy" to everyone. Now, I know from personal experience that YLC is a very good player and it could have easily been a ruse from him to test other players, so after thinking over this point after a few hours, it should not be surprising that I retracted what I said previously.

Now, if I am scummy, why would I act this way? In fact, it would be far easier to lay low and use YLC's post as an easy defence. But, I am not scummy, so after thinking over what he said, I 'un-FoSed' him.

Then, to justify me voting for someone, I voted a person who was relatively new and who correlates with who I thought the killer is, which is seen by many as scummy once again. But at least this was a better justification than "He's a Venomian! Lynch him!"

This is quite a poor defence and is now totally irrelevant, since I am to be lynched. But I am going to use the last few seconds of my life to demand an explanation from YLC regarding the post quoted above. Was it just a simple ruse, or was it really a hint at your role? Unvote: WEW, Vote: YLC

Based on a scene from the Princess Bride, it refers to the infinite regress that happens when you try to judge someone based on what you know of them, and try to infer from that how they would behave. Would they place poisoned wine in front of you, or themselves? Are they the type who would place the wine as far away as possible, or as close as possible? Would they try to reverse that, just to bluff? What if they want you to think they would reverse it, and thusly, double bluff? What about a triple bluff?

That kind of thinking goes in circles. I have a bit of experience with it.... :bounce:

What I find hilarious is you saying this when you've actually know me for quite a while. As either faction I'm going to go for the real badguys, you know, the ones with actual night kills? Imagine just for a moment everyone on both faction was exactly like you. It would be one of the easiest game ever for who ever are the bad guys.

Who exactly am I defending, someone who has just been lynched? Right. Or is it because I'm perhaps because I tremble in fear that you might use another blatant attempt at uncovering factions? It's more along the lines of I don't care, either as a Cornerian or a Venomian I can win by killing off the bad guys and surviving. Which are my goal in every game where I'm not scum.

Interesting how some of you are arguing that Venomians and Cornerians are on the same team. I haven't played the game (so correct me if I'm wrong) but this is called Lylat Wars (http://starfox.wikia.com/wiki/Lylat_Wars), which is a war fought between the Venomians and the Cornerians. ATPG is making this a sequel I believe, so Corneria just defeated Venom and we're now at peace, however this could change because of this line from the Venomian role PM:


The Venomian Forces can win with the town, but this victory condition may change.Unsure how it would change, but destiny (aka ATPG) probably has a twist ready for us around the corner. So hold on to your peace banners, because the 2nd Lylat War may start sooner than you think.

Chaotix and his squadron made it to Fortuna, the planet on the other side of the Meteo Asteroid field. Their group arrived ahead of all the others. Before enterting orbit, Chaotix noted that there were no radio transmissions coming from the base. He ordered his squadron to be cautious as they began their descent.

Chaotix noted that there were powerful ice storms over Fortuna base, and that was a possible explanation for the radio silence. But there shouldn't have been any ice storms at all; Fortuna was a terraformed world. It should have been a lush, green paradise, with climate controlled, gentle rain falling precisely on schedule. Ice storms shouldn't exist on this planet. Perhaps the atmospheric control systems were malfunctioning. Chaotix became very nervous as he realized there was something very wrong here.

As they broke through the clouds, Chaotix saw a scene of utter chaos. There was a horrendous blizzard, and Fortuna base appeared abandoned. There were dozens of fighters engaged in maneuvers around the base, firing weapons at each other. One of the starfighters broke off from the main group and went straight for Blue Squadron, firing brilliant red plasma directly at the Cornerian fighters.

Immediately, his group performed a Cornerian Starburst maneuver. The fighters positioned themselves into a star, and performed a barrel roll, then split off in five different directions. Some of the craft took damage from the plasma fire, but made it back behind the clouds. Blue 7 wasn't so lucky, as his position in the formation demanded that he pull his craft directly toward the planet's surface before doing a U-turn and escaping behind the clouds. During the maneuver, Blue 7 took serious damage and Chaotix's cockpit began to fog up. The cabin was exposed to the atmosphere due to hull microfractures; there would be no way that Chaotix could escape back into space.

The situation was grim. Chaotix's vessel streaked toward the planet's surface, spinning rapidly to deflect incoming fire. At the last moment Chaotix pulled out of the spin, and leveled off his craft, and headed straight for Fortuna Base. The starfighter that fired on him was close behind.

Romanic was heading towards Katina, responding to a distress call from the base. Duty-bound to respond, Romanic double-checked his damaged systems and dropped out of warp.

On the other side of the warp corridor, he noticed a huge spatial vortex just a hundred thousand kilometers from the planet.

From the vortex, several missiles with proton-antiproton warheads streaked towards Katina. Romanic sprung into action and flew into a low orbit, and began firing green blasters at the missiles. The first missile exploded harmlessly several kilometers above the atmosphere.

The Arwing did a vertical U-turn and headed back in the other direction. Romanic spotted two more missiles headed for the surface, and fired as rapidly as he could at the warheads, attempting to detonate them. Within a few seconds, both missiles had been destroyed.

The Arwing quickly turned to the right and headed for the cluster of three missiles, just a few kilometers above the base. They would reach their targets within 30 seconds.

The Arwing blasted toward the surface, shields buckling due to the atmospheric friction. Romanic could feel his vessel being torn apart, but he fired his last remaining Nova Bomb. The bomb streaked toward the cluster of missiles, and exploded dead center. In the resulting explosion, all three of the missile warheads were detonated safely, a mere 3 kilometers above Katina base. Romanic wiped the sweat from his feathered brow, and noted how close Katina base had come to being destroyed.

Suddenly, Romanic's Arwing stalled in the upper atmosphere. The emergency thrusters had been damaged during the encounter with Star Wolf, and he must have been leaking fuel. The Arwing was operating now on minimum thruster power. He wouldn't be able to land safely, so he pulled his craft up and attempted to bounce off of the atmosphere like a pebble skipping off of a pond.

As Romanic's Arwing escaped the atmosphere of Katina, it was slowly being drawn toward the giant vortex in space that just seemed to be getting larger and larger. The vortex was a gravity well of never-before-seen proportions. With no way to escape from the gravitational pull using engine power, Romanic tried one last desperation maneuver. Romanic released the antimatter from his main fuel hold and it began to spiral down into the gravity well. Using his thrusters, he positioned the Arwing and fired at the antimatter with his blasters. The resulting explosion blasted the Arwing free from both planet Katina and the gravity well.

The gravity well began to close, but one final proton-antiproton missile emerged, and headed straight for Romanic's ship.

Romanic very nearly revealed his role to me, accidentally. You can kill me on the possible WIFOM if you want, though it won't do us any good; I'm just a Cornerian fighter. What is important is this:

He strongly implied that the mafia would have an incentive to masquerade as Venomians as opposed to Cornerians; it appeared to be a matter of investigation results, with the implication that the mafia could not be distinguished from the former but could be from the latter. Thanks to wideyedwanderer yesterday, we now have a large pool of likely Venomians or people who are trying to appear as such; I suggest that may be a good place to put some pressure. Of that bunch I very much like Beskar's vote on Pinman (though not for the stated reason) and would be voting him myself if there were any likelihood I'd be around enough to keep up with developments.

What I don't know is to what extent Romanic's implications were accurate (whether the incentive is universal among mafia or only applies to some of them), or indeed whether the mafia are even aware of the situation. I do not, however, think that he lied to me, and with Romanic dead I may be the only person who can bring this up safely.
