After the last Senate session things seemed to have calmed down. Consul Askthepizzaguy held a triumph after the legions in Iberia destroyed the last free tribes there. This way ATPG SPQR gained the access to much needed gold mines. This really convinced some Populists that the Merchants know how to run the state. -2 to Populist faction

Rumors were spread that senator Double A helped the Iberian tribes with weapons and money. The culprit behind these stories were soon discovered. It seems it was the leader of Civic faction, senator robbiecon.

Senator Double A answered to all those rumors and accusations with a speech in the forum. It was so well written that many of the Civic faction members decided to turn against it and joined the Military faction. -2 to Civic faction

Expensive gifts and a large sum of money from senator Diamondeye to the temple of Jupiter made some Religious faction members to think twice who to support. -2 to Religious faction

In a dark alley behind the tavern three men met. They exchanged some words and one of them gave couple pouches to the other two. -2 to Populist faction

Following the example of military faction senator Diamondeye made a long speech against the Religious faction. This brought some supporters to his faction. -2 to Religious faction

But what came next shook the entire Rome...

After senator Diamondeye had finished his speech and was on his way home some thugs blocked his way. He tried to talk himself out of this situation but the thugs did not want to listen anything. They pulled out their swords and attacked. Diamodeye's bodyguards tried to defend him but the attackers quickly managed to kill them. Knowing what will happen to him Diamondeye concealed his face with his cape. He was stabbed to death by the attackers. However, what the murderers didn't know was that they were identified by some of the people watching from the shadows. The whole Rome soon talked that senator Askthepizzaguy was behind this bloody attack.

It seemed that the city had turned into chaos. Another senator were found dead! Senator robbiecon and his bodyguards were found behind the city walls. It seemed that they never had any chance to defend themselves. Who was behind this attack however remained a mystery.

The Consul Diamondeye was killed. So was the second candidate, robbiecon.
This means there is no Consul for this turn!

Almost all factions were trying to gain some public support. Senator Romanic accused the Religious faction and their leader for not taking care of the temples. Leader of the Military faction, Secura, pointed out that Civic faction so far have only brought the Republics financial situation into chaos. Senator God Emperor in return blamed the Populists for the current situation in the city. Senator Yoyoma answered to Securas accusations that the Military faction is trying to get control over all the armies of the Republic. -3 to Religious faction; -3 to Populist faction; -3 to Civic faction; -3 to Military faction

Senator Romanic, trying to gain at least some kind of support to his faction, made some really extravagant gifts to some of the fellow senators. Elephants, lions, slaves etc. -2 to Religious faction

Someone spread stories how senator Secura had visited some rich Egyptians and was receiving money from them in return of the information about the military.

Populist faction was just a shadow of what it was not so long ago. So, it was not that surprising that two of it's members decided to take the money and join another faction when the offer came. -2 to Populist faction.

However, the city had sunk into the chaos. Many people even talked about the possibilities of a Civil War! When the newly appointed Consul, God Emperor, left from the Capitolium and headed to the temple of Jupiter he was attacked by some unknown men. This was a close fight with only few attackers surviving it but they managed to fulfill their goal - God Emperor was dead!

This was not the only attack. Two groups of men met on a narrow street. Both were heavily armored and wearing swords and shields. On that street the bloodiest battles was fought. When the town guards finally got there they counted several bodies. One of the bodies belonged to senator Yoyoma.

Military doesn't like Civic, and fears that Mercantile will turn against Military when Populists are gone, with Civic support.
Civic doesn't like Military, but Populist took enough shots at them that they don't like Populist either, and are trying to help Mercantile eliminate Populist.
Religious just wants to survive; has allied with Mercantile to remove Populist since Populist have been the largest thorn in Religious side.
Mercantile only cares about Populists going down; is friendly to anyone who helps.
Populist one seems to care about removing from Religious, because that removes one of their rivals and eliminates them. It is a smart move.

The current balance of power suggests we will simply block each other's votes until the dead people come back.

I wanted Military support to finish off Populist, but they are indifferent towards me.

Consul Double A, after defeating a tribe of Germanic barbarians, decided to show his power and held a triumph for his honor. Those smelly barbarians brought him some friend in the Senate. -2 to Civic faction

Another leader of Military faction, Secura, gained some supporters to his faction after revealing how some of the temples were in really poor conditions. -3 to Religious faction

Senator Romanic, seeing this as a good opportunity to get rid of the menace, made gifts to the remaining senator in the Religious faction. -1 to Religious faction

Consul Double A, feeling the public support, made a long speech against the Civic faction. His "stories" were well presented and some senators decided to leave it. -3 to Civic faction

Senator robbiecon, son of previous senator with that name, ignored Double A's accusations. Instead he made a angry speech against the Populist faction. -2 to Populist faction

Askthepizzaguy's reputation got tarnished when a rumor that he had bought some eastern sculptures. This foreign cultural influence is despicable.

Near the Capitolium three men met. Two of them left soon with some pouches.. -2 to Populist faction

Attacks against the senators however continued. Some thugs ambushed senator Romanic but they did not manage to kill him. It was only a matter of luck that few of the attackers managed to get away with their lives. slashandburn was not that lucky though. Outnumbered more than three to one he and his bodyguards were quickly killed by the attackers. Who were behind these attacks remains a mystery.
