Here is a combilation of the two patches for HTW beta v21:

It contains the startpos fix and the small patch in one file.
Installation is simple: Extract it to your HTW directory, if you don´t have already this two patches:

You can get it now on the Mizus server and later also on 3D downloads with this link (thank you Tosa for hosting it):

This Might be a solution for Implementing the War Elephants, for which I'm very sorry for the fact they will not be In the next release http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif

I believe that Metal storm did this to his war Elephant to make it big; When defining Unit type select Infantry, Or more accurately Cavalry and then you have the option of selecting the size. Just do you normal sized graphic and Animation and then just Size it up This may not work having never attemted it. Maybe Duke John can give us some insight?

At the moment I'm playing as the Athenians and it looks very dire. Most enjoyable.

Just had one battle with 1600+ men of my own versus some 3500+ Persians. Mostly Prsian Horse Archers (~:p yeah that needs fixing mates, but you are mostlikely already long aware of it), WOW

I started off great. Seeing them having most of all skirmishers on foot and horseback I decided to deploy my army as close by and as wide as possible as I could.
The battle started and I moved my entire army forwards.

////Deployment of my army\\\\

EH-EH-AEH-AEH-AEH-AEH-AEH-AEH-AEH

EE AEH*G-Peltasts-Peltasts-Peltasts
Hippies-Hippies

EE = Enomotia Ekdromon
EH = Enomotia Hopliton
AEH = Athenian Enomotia Hopliton
AEH*G = General AEH unit.

////Deployment of my army\\\\

The Persians were deployed quite close together in marching column and I took advantage of that.
My army got in close with the Persians and they reacted by sending the main bulk of their army to my center and the fighting began.

As my center army was holding the enemy at their bay, my infantry on the flanks marched to the sides of the large block of enemy units and within moments surrounded the largest part of their army and butchering beyond believe.

In the meanwhile my Hippies were destroying the Persian Horse Archers with some assistance of one AEH unit.

All this time I held my general unit plus the peltasts back and just let the rest finish the Persians off.

When most of their first army was destroyed reinforcements came. This time largely Persian Horse Archers and some Lydian Heavy Cavalry.

Foolishly and far to overconfident, after reforming my lines (note: my only unit of Enomotia Ekdromon attacked those troops on horseback to delay their advance so my army could reform), I sent my army a way they shouldn't have gone to. My hippies suddenly had to held out a couple of Lydian Heavy Cavalry (and doing far better then I imagined they would - both were down to almost half their strength). I had sent one unit of AEH to help them out to hold that line a little longer. The rest of my army went to attack some other PHA units. I was able to corner certain PHA units and slaughter them, but seeing the overwhelming number of those Persian Horse Archers I decided to retreat to a forest somewhere on the other side of the battlefield and sit out the time. I lost all three peltasts units in that retreat (could have retreated by protecting them, but then more of my most precious hoplites would have died). And suffered about a +-100 more cassualties sitting it out in the forest.

But I won Maybe a bit as a coward, but that didn't matter http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif Just had to tell this story http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

PS. Won two other battles aswell and have to fight a battle with 332 men against some 1700~1800 rebels next year. Gonna be hard I think.

PPS. I changed the cost of all the ships to make certain they wouldn't be build en masse anymore. Also made it so that all ships that were buildable in 1 year now cost 2 years to be build.

Hey where are the persions. I started off as the spartans on the earliest campaigns, and its 418 and the persion havent' popped up yet. I'm only asking cause hte phrigians overran the ligians way long ago, and they have a crap load of troops, i'm constantly declaring war with them just to destroy their navy so they can't escape from asia minor. And i have to cause if i don't they can put so many troops on the mainland that they could overrun greece with no trouble. I'm waitin for the persians to pop up so i can invade asia minor after the phrigians repel the persians.

Oh and i love the Spartan hoplites. Regardless of the fact that they're expensive as hell and take 4 turns to make, they completely worth it. I was in debt for close to 50 years after a was witht he Athenians, phrigians, Thessilians and Poenions ALL AT ONCE. My navy and the few Spartan hoplites and regular hoplites i had were the only things that kept me from being overrun. And let me tell you 50 year of -150,000, no building, and no new troops sucks royally. But it was worth it :)

Correct the Persians are only in the late or Classical period.The don't appear suddently as the Mongols because this is hardcoded and cannot be realized within the MTW engine.

My Athenian campaign is looking a lot better now.
At one point almost the entire lands of Asia Minor rebelled (Civil war most likely) against their Persian masters (when quiting the game I had taken a look at the map by using the .matteosartori. cheatcode - I just really like to see how the AI is doing every and again). The Persians are getting back in control, but not without rebellions almost every turn on their coastal areas (that I can see), eventhough they have stationed about 1500 men in a province, they still have near zero loyalty on the lowest taxes. The Persians also suffer attacks from certain greek citystates, mainly the Argians.

I had a negative income for quite sometime during this war with the Persians, but due to plentyful gold in my treasury I could survive more than long enough to retake the seas from the Persians.

The Persians' large fleet has succumbed to the might of Athens

I wonder whether the Persians will be able to recover from this disaster that bestoyed upon them.
Heh.. they asked for it themselfs http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

By the way I also just noticed yesterday that the rebel only units were given a really high supportcost (to make the rebels less strong? Just decided to mention it while I was posting this continuation of my campaign. Could have been mentioned a long time ago, so no real need to answer this if it has already been mentioned considering this version has been out for quite some time). Which can really devastate the economies of the AI factions when they bribe them

Oh yeah, almost forgot. The battle of 332 men versus some 1700~1800 rebels was won. Actually I had the number of my men wrong. Forgot the ones in the castle. The total number of men was actually near 450 men.
I won the battle because the Persians joined the battlefield and took the fight first to the rebels. Eventhough the Persians lost their general first, they still defeated the rebels of which their general died only minutes after the death of the Persian general. Then it was just me waiting it out in the forest. The only battle that was fought was between my Hippies Akontistes against two Persian Horse Archers units that were driven off the battlefield. The Persians decided to skirmish in the woods rather then attack me. So the time ran out and I won. I'm such a cowardly commander, éh? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Another battle with a small Athenian army was lost against again a much larger Persian force (again a forest fight). My forces just wouldn't stay in formation and engaged some Persian Cavalry that lured them out of their strongpoint. But that wasn't the blow that lost me the battle. I could have won if not for one unlucky missile projectile (have no idea who got him) struck down my general. My peltast unit immediatly got frightened by the loss of their general that I decided to retreat them off the map to make sure they wouldn't keep giving my other men a morale penalty (actually have no idea if withdrawing them statisticly had a worse impact then keeping them on the field).
It proved to be a big mistake as they could have been used to attack the flanking Persian cavalry on my right flank that came later on. The next year they assaulted the castle and taken my group of islands tied to this region (read: one islands province just right from Attika). They suffered heavy losses though and the year after it a loyalist rebellion occured which was defeated (one Hippies unit, argh - couldn't reinforce the island aswell) and the next turn a loyalist army of 3 skirmishers decided to attack. This time I could reinforce the area and defeated the remants of the once large Persian army that had taken over the few Athenian owned islands. I sent an emmisary to bribe the few Persians left in the castle and executed them promptly (read: disbanded them, but I like to think I'd just taken the Persian disgrace from Greek soil - staying in character mind you http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif).

But nonetheless the Persian threat is over for now. Who knows what the near future will bring.
*hears evil laughter from far away*

The Argians in the Geometric period have been assigned a different cultures building. Its in Cynuria & I think its a royal court.
Where the Argians the first to use Hoplites? I ask becuase they get the DA_hoplite as their kings unit whereas all other greek state factions get Polmieste(sp).

DnC
Your Athenian campaign sounds very good, I had one that was quite similar. I even managed to sink all the Persian ships quickly & then put small fleets in the sea zones that their ports where in so I could sink their ships as soon as they build them(the AI seems to give up after you do this forawhile). This lead to all the other factions attacking the Persians but none of them have been able to hold on to a province for long. I invaded aswell but they moved 20+ stacks beside the province so I decided to abandon it since they where mostly horse archers & was not interested in sitting in woods for 4-5 hours.

I'm not sure if this was mentioned before, I noticed that Komninos has made a lot of units scared of the Spartan Enomtia which I think is a great idea. Some other units have also been given this ability http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Insolent1,

That's EXACTLY what's happening in my campaign now Smaller factions attack the Persians, the Persians retreat and the next turn they come with masses of troops to reclaim what they've lost The other AI factions just seem to have no chance against these enormous Persian armies. But I'm about to change that right now;

I have sent two Athenian armies into Persian territory, namely Tauros and the coastal province right next Tauros to the left. My Athenian leaders influences throughout three or so decades has been very poor and if I want to change that I'll HAVE to start winning some more battles Don't want a civil war to errupt.

DnC

I found Rodian Staff Slingers to be very effective against the Persian horse archers. They have good range but protect them as the HA's like to charge if they are unprotected. I also found Scythian Archers are very good against them as they 120 man unit & do quiet well against the HA in melee. I hired them so their upkeep was high but I used them as cannonfodder & there was always plenty available to hire later http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

When playing a couple of more turns I suddenly gotten the You have 20 turns left message and realised I couldn't win the campaign anymore (I thought the game ended after the year 600 AD, but it's 500. Obviously didn't remember it correctly), so I'm rushing through most of the years still left.

Stopped playing when the battle that I have to fight now appeared. Takes to long to play at this moment, so that's why. My army consists out of some 1600 men versus about 9000 Persians

If you want to give yourself more time to complete the classical campaign you can edit the startpos file.
The only thing is you have to start over again. To change the file go to
medieval totalwar/campmap/startpos
Hellenic_CA.txt is the file(make a copy of it just in case http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif )
Open the notepad & the 4th section down you will see a load of dates. The one your gonna change is SetGameEndDate:: change it to whatever you want example

I got your mod installed successfully this weekend, and I must say, it's alot of fun. The only issue I'm having besides the occasional text error on build update screens is an error that happens on my home territory, which makes me hit enter to clear it.

The error is something like so and so file says this faction is catholic, cannot find file, using default image (there is a path statement). Thats not it exactly, but it's the only thing I'm seeing.

I've played the Spartans now to about 380 game time, Spartan Hoplites are unreal, I've taken about half the map and have yet to loose a single battle. I took on 3600 rebel troops in one fight with about 500 Hippies/cretan archers and 4 units of spartan hoplites, I lost 106 men and killed over 2000 (plus caputed the rest), hehe.

I can't wait to try the other factions, you guys get a big thumbs up on this mod, wonderful job by all involved. Keep up the good work http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I should, but so little time to work for the mod. Apart from skilling, a great trick is to look for templates and premade models. I changed most of previous objects. There are no fixed guides. Every day I learn a different way of resolve a thing. And is combining several programs we reach somewhere. I cant write a guide about 3D rendering or Photoshop. Once this mod finish I may think on that.

Those units look so, pardon my french, damned good

By the way. In my current Spartan campaign after the Persians have wiped out the Lydians, the Persians died out (read: no heir for succession) after 25 years in play. Soon the Lydians reappeared (and a couple of years after that the Persians aswell) and my war with the Lydians began some 50-70 years after that. Can't really remember http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I was slowly winning more ground and then the Lydians bribed one of my Spartan armies (near 650 men, including Spartan hoplites) and I had to fight that army. The next and current year the Lydians bribed another Spartan army, this time some 900 men. Luckily no Spartan hoplites though. The army is comprised out of largely Enomotia Hopliton, a few Enomotia Ekdromon and two units of skirmishers.

The thing that baffled me the most was that both armies were under leadership of a reasonably high loyalty general, yet the Lydians bribed them with mostlikely for a long time a negative income. The Lydians have stacks upon stacks of troops of which most of their troops consist out of Lydian Royal Guard Units (full strength is 140 supportcosts). Those two bribes must have cost them at least 100k gold total, maybe even near 200k. I wonder what gave them such an income. Maybe defeated enemy armies were ransomed back? Could be. Nonetheless this is one of the most entertaining wars so far Fighting my own. GAWD That's painfull

This is a fast one ...

Zawath, No that is as planed ... it might get a bit milder in the next update. Build some good buildings (other than troop or money makers)

[DnC] ... I am not 100% sure but the eastward provinces are a bit reacher than the rest. Though I don't like that. Money will decrease in the next update. Most probably a ghost province will be generated that will produce good money for the eastern factions and the rest of the provinces will be reduced back to there normal money making power.

No they cannot: If they would be in tga format in the rar-file then this rar file would have about 22mb more in size.

So to save bandwidgh and time to download it its in jpg format.

Hi all,

Lots of things are happening here ...
Flip great units ... I have managed to finalize the Persian shields and weapons (thanks to Zimoa) and I have just to make the spear and pavice coordinates. This will not take too much time now.
I like the new hoplite units though you made a Ificratian and a Hellenic pike units. We will need the Ificratian type for the Late Hoplites too. Just hope there is no great change in the coordinates of the new units to speed things up. BTW flip, I have made a new Skithic type axe that was very popular in the east.

I have also changed some parameters of the Persians so we might get a Persian Spearmen unit. The main problem remains that all Persian units should be placed in attack mode ... but they are missile units. Any way I have to find a way to make them use the Sparabara formation 80% of the times.

African units (Nubian Ethiopian) would be fun to play with. Really strong warriors but other wise very light using small shields and spears or just large axes. They would blast though other eastern unit types but with Hoplitic units things are grim.

Flip, how do you fill about cavalry after these are done?

Antalis I have finally developed the Photos from Delphi region, I think you would find more than 2 or 3 maps for mountain river type maps in them.

Komninos,

Just something I was curious about;
Phalanxes had a hard time manouvering (sp?) to face enemies from the sides which gave them a weakness on the flanks and rear (meaning it took a lot more time to face another way), which posed a real problem when already engaged, correct?

So have you tried altering columns 30 to 33 (Gnome Editor)? Those are the columns that deal with the unit's movement speeds. The units in vanilla MTW itself all have the same values for these movement speeds. But quite a while ago I made some alterations to it myself and it seemed to work. So has the HTW crew tried to fiddle around with these values? Could make for a more historically accurate based fighting system? This way the phalanxes cannot face incoming enemy units so fast as any other in HTW making it a lot more important to stay in formation. Just a thought mind you http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Cheers,
DnC

PS. I have very little knowlegde about greek warfare (mostly learned things around these boards), but thought this was the case and this might help create a more enriching gaming experience?

This would be an interesting thing for all spear / pike units.
Since we can do it I will see in to it. I hate the Gnome Editor and similar tools I will see what I can do in my Excel file. The problem is that phalanxes if warned and not engaged could change direction very quickly the last became first and the first last row. In Alexander’s square formations this was the case for all four directions.

Just did some testing.

Komninos, if you take for example the Spartan hoplites and change MIN_TURNSPEED to 0.5 (don't know if 0.5 actually works or if it just translates ingame into a 1 as a minimal value), MAX_TURNSPEED to 2, TURN_TO_MOTION_SPEED to 4 and keep MAX_INMOTION_TURN the same and then test it. Do you see it heading to somewhere that may be to your liking? I know it's far from perfect so far, but maybe with a bit of tweaking it can be done just about right enough as far as can be done with the MTW engine.

HI to everyone. First day here to this site. been reading for hours and I'm pleased and impressed. I set myself up to mod with the hellenic now after trying 'Forge of Destiny' and the 'Patrician' mods.
I'm wondering about the end dates of these mods and the original MTW. One thing I disliked tremendously was the the game will end in 20 moves message.
I saw a post on how to modify end date around but I cant seem to find it now.
Is there a way to extend the end date in the campmap/GameEnd file or somewhere else maybe?
thanks

Hi Graccus http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif :

Open your campmap/startpos-folder: There you will find the campaign.txts, like the three for HTW: Hellenic_DA, Hellenic_PCL, Hellenic_CL.

Open one of these campaign files and there at the beginning of the text you will find this:

//========================================
//Start Date
//The year in which this
//campaign will begin
//========================================

SetStartDate:: 400
SetPeriod:: LATE
SetEarlyPeriodStartDate:: 150
SetHighPeriodStartDate:: 250
SetLatePeriodStartDate:: 400
SetGameEndDate:: 500

-----------

Change the SetGameEndDate to whatever you like.

For example:
//========================================
//Start Date
//The year in which this
//campaign will begin
//========================================

SetStartDate:: 400
SetPeriod:: LATE
SetEarlyPeriodStartDate:: 150
SetHighPeriodStartDate:: 250
SetLatePeriodStartDate:: 400
SetGameEndDate:: 800

Alexanders phalangites and the early Seleucid ones could manouvre very easily in zero time,turning either to their side or their rear.As the years went by this ability was lost.

The same comes for the Early Spartans (until nearly 370BC).They could turn very easily to the direction they wanted.

Hello again.
I'm now wondering if there is a way to disable files related to non-critical ingame messages, i.e. there is a famine in another region, or faction x decides he cannot win, or there was a storm on the coast of x province no ships were destroyed, the king of x has died but his heir replaces him, your daughter has passed the marriagable age, etc... I would like to disable all of these types of messages if possible.
Is there a way to remove these types of files?

Sir Zack de Caldicot

That is already avaliable in-game from the original M:TW.
Beside the mini map you will notice a Grey box with a large >. Click on it and set off Display non critical messages to stop them popping on the screen. Also here you will notice other options like Auto tax/build/train and automatically save every turn ( usually set on by default)

Hello everyone,

First I want to say that I love this mod. You guys have done a great job with it. It still needs a lot of balancing, so factions are impossible to play without some tweaking.

I have played this mod for a few months now, and I have been trying to figure out how to stop the AI from building cavalry. I spent a lot of time adjusting the AI's Unit choices numbers but that never seems to help the barbarian factions, they always still build a ton of cavalry.

The best solution I have found to fix this was by changing the Unit type (second column in Gnome editor)of the barbarian's infantry, from INFANTRY to CAVALRY. My reasoning for doing this is because no matter how I changed the AI's Unit choices numbers, they would not build many infantry units. So, I look at their AI type, which is Barbarian_Raider. I figured that this AI type, which was used for the Golden Horde in the orginal TW, is programed to buld mostly cavalry units (the golden horde would build almost only cavalry).

Even if my interpretation of how the AI types work is wrong, the solution still works. I changed all of the barbarians infantry unit types to cavalry. It causes the barbarians to build a lot of infantry. The change seems to have no adverse effects either (the game does not crash because you changed the infantry types to cavalry).

As far as the non barbarians still bulding cavalry, I think that it can be helped be altering the AI's Unit choices.

Other tweaks -

I have tweaked a ton of stuff in the game, but on of the only other major problems I have is about slingers. An army of slings can cripple even the most the battle hardened Greek army, unless they have some fast barbarian mercs, cavalry, or slings of your own. Though this may have been historically possible, it is just a pain in the butt. I have started by lowering the slingers ammo from 60 to about 40. I am also thinking about slowing their running speed some and lowering their morale.

p.s. I have not tested the cavalry change over a long period of time. I always play as the spartans and I only play about 20 or 30 turns before I stop and change something and start over. I anyone else tests it, post and tell me how it goes.

itkotw a slight flaw in your soloution to Building non horse

by changing inf units to being cavalry it meens spear units will get a bonus defending against them (as the game THINKS they are cavalry) and with the main greek units being Spear this screws the infantry...

Ok, people, this is my gift for all that are with great expectations on HTW 2.2. I'll be away for a week. It was a long road till now. Kom, I'll pack you this bif model that will be the base for all mount units. No, no need to change coordinates. And with the 3D model template, building cavalry units is quick. Just need the characteristics for the units. Have a list with details for my comeback. Me and Sir Moody talked about solutions for horse units that give a lot of options. I'll explain it in my mail. Thanks again Sir Moody. it was a brilliant idea. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif to all

Some good news ... fast.
I have finally managed to do all the coordinate work and I have started the placement of the units.
So far the Skythic units are in, and all the new Hoplitic. Also some of the Spear units (Lydian, Illyrian and Thracian)
Still a lot to do but this will go a lot faster since it is much more fun to doing that than the coordinates.

You must convert the two campaignmap-jpgs into tga format with IrfanView:

Open your Textures/campmap/Hellenic folder and convert the mapTex.jpg and mapTex2.jpg to TGA format.
Use IrfanView (http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html) for that and put the two tga´s into the same folder (Textures/campmap/Hellenic).

Hi all,
Finally some progress was made ... after spending a good time of my Easter holidays on HTW development.

I also got my hands on some grate pictures of troop representations of the periods in HTW and Byzantine for MTW.
Most of the foot units are ready (90% only some minor modifications remain). There is a new coloring scheme that we would all have to get used to. So a unit patch will be available to the beta testers soon.
In order to balance the factions in there eras and bring some reality to the production of units I had to go back to the basics. Since all attempts to limit the cavalry production failed miserably I concluded that the cavalry problem came from the fact that they could produce the light cavalry units much easier than all other units. So I went back to the buildings and checked the way the personalities matrix was formed. The buildings referred to the MTW time line that cavalry was a big part of the armed forces so I re calibrated the personality matrix giving more precedence to the infantry buildings. I also made a new upgrade calibration, in the initial file CA use a static factor of 1.5 for each building paced on the value received in the initial calculation. I now generate a factor that depends on this formula 0.5*sum of depending units + 0.2*sum of depending buildings. This makes the buildings that are mostly needed extremely important. I hope the problem dies out with this solution. Ports and shipyards were carefully calculated in the new matrix so you will not see the Spartans building ports and shipyards like creasy.
Finally the cavalry units are now on the drawing board. Basically when the cavalry units the update would be ready and sent for the final beta testing as an integral part.
I would like to apologize to most people fro the big delay here but unfortunately we changed several parts of the mod during development and then things were not compatible with the v2.1. I will have to make sure that a working copy exists in my PC as well as a development copy of HTW.

What about a very very short unit guide, when the next beta comes out?, of just a short unit stat guide or something. i have very hard figuring what the different types of hoplites can, and what there differences are.
some of the factions have different types in different areas, very confusing for me, and i have been notised that maybe the hoplite type continues to have the same name, it changes stats..... and that hoplites who seem to have almost the same name, have different stat depending on factions.

can this be done?

or just a hoplite guide eventually?

If someone knows some links for tactical maps for battles of the Peloponesian War it would be wonderful.
Or has a book with such maps and could make a scan.
I´m thinking about making some historical battles for it.
But no promise.

I would need such maps to know wich troop types and deployments were used:

I need such information for Mantinea, Sphacteria.

Maybe also for Amphipolis and Platae, Delium.

SetFactionCol:: FN_08 0 114 37 213 11 23
SetFactionCol:: FN_09 59 109 60 100 100 100
SetFactionCol:: FN_10 54 86 195 238 245 237
SetFactionCol:: FN_11 80 7 26 220 220 220
SetFactionCol:: FN_12 176 126 55 100 100 100
SetFactionCol:: FN_13 255 102 0 255 102 0
SetFactionCol:: FN_14 187 161 2 149 17 12

Each 3 numbers stands for one color.

So 3 numbers = 1 color.

About the historical battles and campaign(s):

You will be able to play all battles of the campaigns also as historical battle.

If you love the challange, then play them as campaign, one by one.

In work are:

Marathon
Thermopylae
Plataeae
Gaugamela
Granikos
Issos
Chaironea.

Maybe more.

You will find many of the historical battlemaps also in the campaign:

So if you attack Troas you will get the Granikos map, if attacking Phocis from Aeniania you will get the Thermopylae map.

Attacking Phocis from Boethia you will get Chaironeia, attacking Argolis from Lacedemonia you will get Mantinea, attacking Attika from Boethia -> Marathon.

Maybe I will find a way also to implementate Delium, but I doubt that its possible.
No names left.

Issos and Gaugamela will only be playable as Historical battles and custom battle, maybe also as hist campaign.
They are too far away from Greece.

And Spacteria is not working with normal deploying.

Antalis::
04-15-2004, 21:03
You will find all sorts of maps with the new update: From flatland to hilly maps, to mountains, rivers, swamps, large forrests, citys, castles and so on.

But you will often find such meetingplaces in front of a mountain.

Greece and the region isn´t flat.
You cannot make every battlemap flat there.

Its an addon to the old MTW maps: So you will also find all the other flat and planemaps too: So enough flat maps in HTW.

And the areas there are absolutly not plane.
Only a few of them are really flat.

Hi all I would like to give you some statistics since I just finished the gathering of all the units till now.
At present (with just two of the cavalry units done) the zipped file is 77.7MB and that does not include for Antalis stuff that will add a good 30MB and the rest of the units so we are looking some thing like a 120MB download.

The unzipped data come to +170MB at my disk so expect some thing of the +200MB total not considering the two map TGAs.

BTW flip the two cavalry units are inserted now. Looking forward for the rest.

You have converted the campaignmap images (maptex and maptex2) wrong.

You need IrfanView (http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html) to convert this two jpgs to TGA format.

Do not use another programm.

Go to your new HTW main directory and open the Textures/campmap/Hellenic folder and convert the mapTex.jpg and mapTex2.jpg to TGA format,Use IrfanView for that (link above).
Just open the two files using IrfanView and use the save as file option and save the two tga´s into this same Textures/campmap/Hellenic folder.

Hello,

I tried to download the newest version of HTW from the page http://www.hellenictotalwar.com/pages/htw2pag.html

I used GetRight two times and once I've just download it to desktop. Everytime Hellenic Beta v 2.1 (rar file) is corrupted: rar has problem to extract 8 files, everytime the same files (two arid maps, two commanders graphics, one of prince, maptext2.jpg and two units graphics).

Is it possible to download the archieve from other source?
Maybe there is a place, where I can find the missing files?
Maybe somebody could send me crashed files?

Help, please

I truely like and respect Total War games and I hoped I spend a couple of hours fighting the Persians (or ruling them against Athens) using this complex and huge mod.
