I got a story about Tequila.

About ten years ago I was on holiday in Skiathos, a lovely little hamlet called Troulos Bay. As the place was so tiny the half dozen or so Brits there got on like a house on fire.

Anyway the second weekend there was when Lennox Lewis had his pitch at the heavyweight title. Some bright spark decided that it might be nice to go into Skiathos town and watch the fight. Great idea!

Saturday comes and off we troop into town. As it was a bit early we hit the bars. After a couple of beers, one of the Kentish lads came up with the idea of tequila slammers. Brilliant!

So we started.

And continued.

The barman was so astounded at these mental Brits knocking back one after another of the slammers that he gave us at least half a dozen freebies. Fantastic!

Never did get to see the fight.

I awoke the next morning and wished I hadn't. I'd fallen asleep in the apartment on the couch next to the sink. Hidden away in the sink somewhere was an ants nest. All night long they'd feasted on me, whilst I might add, being extremely vulnerable due to being leathered.

Needless to say I was a very poorly man. The hangover from hell and about a gallon of formic acid in my face and torso.

I missed breakfast.

And luncheon.

And dinner.

I managed supper after braving the hair of the dog just so I could eat summat.

I knew someone who went to the University of Victoria (BC). Now, in Pullman we played a lot of drinking games while getting drunk. My friend in Victoria said they mainly just pounded vodka shot after vodka shot and didn't bother with the games. That's you're multicultural update for today.

Anyways, you know you're a bit in when the booze goes down easy and the bite of it is refreshing and not off-putting.

Need some drinking roulette for vodka: as many shot glasses as people, one is water, rest are vodka, everyone takes one and drinks, person who got water is dead and out of the game. Continue until there is one person left, they are the winner, their prize is another shot of vodka. If you're playing with lots of people you really don't want to be the last man standing.

There's a bar in Liverpool where you can get a whole variety of flavoured tequilas, including baked bean, for a pound a shot. Needless to say, whenever I go out in Liverpool and we end up there, I always bully my mates into "trying" the baked bean flavour :2thumbsup:

I've fallen into this habit of drinking everytime I watch a movie. Luckily I'm not a very 'movie-person'.
Anyway, how does a man know when he's really drunk? When you get that buzz in the head? When you start pronouncing words with a weird accent? When you lose control of the limbs? When oyou can no longer type?What's the criteria?

- When you wake up in your own sick, you missed the point of no return
- When you start texting people that you love them
- When you can't seem to grab the glass
- When you start spilling drinks
- When the munter you work with isn't really that bad anymore, in fact, she looks pretty hot
- When you realise you're somewhere you have no recollection going to, like the floor
- When you start having "deep and meaningfulls"

There are lots of signs, the trick is to recognise them and decide if you want to keep on drinking.

Depending on the strength of the infusion it will make you incapable of registering the taste after a few shots.

TBH this was one of the many experiments I conducted trying to make vodka more manly. Although I never understood what made it girly in the first place but that is a popular belief here.

The sugar will not ferment, you need yeast for that. Vodka doesn't have any, and high alcohol concentrations (generally above 15% ABV) will kill yeast anyway. Use the honey sparingly.

The 7 year old Havana Club is far, far better, the 15 year old one is good too, but not enough to justify paying £120 a bottle. If you're going to be a woman and drink white rum, may as well stick with Bacardi... ~;p

A hotel I used to work in had the world's most expensive bottle of rum, which was used to make the world's most expensive cocktail. I had a little drip from a straw once, tasted great, not sure it was worth the £750 a measure would have cost me though.

Gin is something of an acquired taste in my opinion. I mean it's not unpleasant, but it's never my first choice of drink. On the other hand gin drinkers swear by it. I knew a girl who never touched anything else but gin with a little lime juice.
You must try it out though, for all you know you might like it.
