BL is not style. It's an overpriced coke mixer. Get your hands on a Bushmills, or Middleton, or Auchentoshan. Worse comes to worst, go for some Buffalo Trail, with a dash of soda.

Though my frustrations at every thread being hijacked by a certain over punctuated conspiracy theorist, who's been drawing out the org's already ample population of crazies into inane derailments may have something to do with it.
Well we did lack an over-the-top conspiracy theorist.
No reason to be sad. In fact I find it adds a certain amount of levity to the otherwise serious discussions.

I just had this beautiful moment...
So, during a night out I went to the mens room...
The tune "Take on me" (gotta love the 80's) was on...
Anyway, the guy next to me, drunk as ****, started to sing along...
Taaaake on meeeeeeeeeee....
Music died.
I filled in the chorus:
TAKE ON ME!!
He happily then went on...
Take me ooooon!
And I again chipped in:
"Take on me"
Me and the other guy then in tune went:
I'll be gone, in a"...
The third guy washing his hands tuned in and we all went a high pitched;
"Dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"
We then didn't say a word, didn't make eye contact, and just went out to our dates... Knowing we had just experienced something that would NEVER happen in the womens toilet - no matter how they group up to go there.
I miss my dick swinging singing friends...

What the hell is happening to me?
I am going to ask a girl out tonight, and I am NERVOUS about it... I am never nervous in these situations, so this is new and annoying to me. Feels like I'm back in school...
I guess it's because this will be the first time I ask a girl out as "me"... With no ski instructor jacket to fall back on... It's a girl I have dog-training class with, so she only knows me by my looks and how I have interacted in class the last two times. I usually have more to "back me up" so to say...

Committed marital relationship considerations? Nervously hoping to make an impression on another he finds attractive? Considering the conservative political parties of his polity as having a decent idea or two? Bemoaning the young hooligans who vandalize people's property in his neighborhood?

Being 34, it's time (overdue) to start being more serious...
I was very much so with my ex, we were close on getting married... However, I had too much idiot left in me to be able to fully commit. Something I in hindsight fully accept was a mistake. But yeah, I also want to have kids some day... And now I have a steady job and place to live, and hey, even a dog! How much more settled can a guy get?
This was a very strange experience... Before I have always been able to lean back on "my town" at large... VIP in all bars, know all the people, semi-super star status around town... It's easy to be confident when you can walk into any place around and pretty much own it.
Now, however, it was just little ol' me... No crutches to lean on, so to say.
This girl is the most beautiful thing I have seen since my ex, and she has a Rottweiler... I told myself when I got my dog that I would ask the first cute girl with a "real" dog I met out on a date... and now it happened, and I did...
Thanks for caring guys :)

I'd still go for a hot whiskey instead (equal parts Irish Whiskey and boiling water, add in clove to taste). You did try to make a case though, and dumping it into a strong coffee would make it a flavoring and not a stand alone.
Generally it's supposed to be drunk after a big meal to help digest things. Not sure how it turned into the Jäger-bomb party drink. It doesn't taste bad, it's like cold medicine but for heavy meals with more alcohol.
So I got into brewing and tried my hand at ginger beer.
Alcohol derived from refined sugar gives a hangover worse than anything I've experienced before.

I quite enjoyed the 7 years old Havana Club, it also has a nice flavor and is around 22€ a bottle, probably can't entirely compete with 23 year old (mixed with 6 year old) Zacapa I guess.

Of course you are welcome, as the following reminds all of us:
You have to be always drunk. That's all there is to it -- it's the
only way.
So as not to feel the horrible burden of time that breaks
your back and bends you to the earth, you have to be continually
drunk.
But on what? Wine, poetry, or virtue, as you wish. But be
drunk.
And if sometimes, on the steps of a palace or the green grass of
a ditch, in the mournful solitude of your room, you wake again,
drunkenness already diminishing or gone, ask the wind, the wave,
the star, the bird, the clock, everything that is flying, everything
that is groaning, everything that is rolling, everything that is
singing, everything that is speaking. . .ask what time it is
and wind, wave, star, bird, clock will answer you: "It is time to be
drunk! So as not to be the martyred slaves of time, be drunk, be
continually drunk!
On wine, on poetry, or on virtue, as you wish."
I skip sweet drinks for that reason, not only are you hungover but you have the sourest of stomachs.
So yeah I'm replying pretty late but I realized the bad hangover was because of higher alcohols being produced. I didn't do my homework and let it sit at 24 C while it should've been below 21 C.
Anyway taking a hiatus from brewing atm, so much easier to just buy and get drunk :P
With the debacle following the last presidential elections and the subsequent disintegration of some radicals' wildest fantasies, experts have observed the surfacing of immense deposits of salty tears and paranoid theories attempting to explain the obvious (or inexplicable, depending on your background). Some of them are of great comedic value, so I wonder if there would be interest in a copy-pasta thread, where the community can share the various gems it has discovered in its wildest Internet navigation. Laughing at other people's stupidity has doubtless entertainment value in an environment often dominated by the hostility of political discourse and can also help increase our self-confidence, in a moment when confinement and isolation are the norms. Would the moderation staff be fine with such a thread or would it be considered to spammy and alien to the principles of the Backroom?

Brother in law visiting this week. He is, apparently, a deft hand at mixing a Sazerac -- one of the few cocktails I'll drink instead of sipping whisky or whiskey neat.

A wave of summerlike weather is upon us and, as soils warm, soon the 17-year cicadas will emerge in astonishing numbers throughout the D.C. area.
As soon as soil temperatures reach about 64 degrees, the Brood X cicadas, last seen in our region in 2004, will be unleashed, scientists agree.
We’ve analyzed current soil temperatures and the weather projections and, in our first-ever cicada forecast, predict a noticeable emergence of cicadas next week, starting as soon as between May 3 and May 6. Then they should arrive in large numbers by the beginning of the following week, between May 10 and May 12.
The next 4-6 weeks are going to suuuuck.

I was there for one in the 1980s. Saw I guy driving who made the mistake of opening the drivers side window and resting his arm on the open window and holding the door top. Went through a patch and ended up with an arm covered in yuck, bruises, and a few puncture wounds.
