The deadline is in six hours
    exactly, acute.

    But I may not be
    there on the minute today
    voting closes then

22:30 CET (6 hrs from this post), voting closes.

    Ouch. Et tu, Joooray?
    Either mafia you are,
    or very confused.

    Why would he do this?

    Day 3 has ended!
The students gathered once more, now in desperate resolution as the numbers of the fallen were ever increasing; Most of them were more vocal than the previous day, and the votes flew throughout the day, but in the end, the one known as classical_hero was condemned to death. He protested loudly all the way to the pond, and even after being submerged, and quickly used up his breath. His death brought little consolation, though, and no progress; they had again killed in vain and struck an innocent down. Thus demoralized, they returned each to their own chambers, in darkened moods. Among them, a sardonic smile lined the face of the purist. Already, he knew who to strike down in the dark of night.

    Yes, risky it is

    This makes no sense friend.
    I didn't bother to help
    Sprig during the tie.

    I could have spared him.
Last round, he didn't need help.
    Why would I defend?

    Instead I focused
    on trying to lynch someone
    and explain my case.

    Night 3 is over!

    The cunning purist
    smiles devilishly and grim
    moving through the night

    He has set his eyes
on the prize of the poet school:
    A girl; The beauty.

    Renata is dead,
look at the poor girl, blooded,
    broken and murdered.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Renata was the pro-town beauty!

    It is now day 4!
Due to the death of Renata, nobody will be lynched today as the day is spent in mourning!

The five remaining students stood, depressed and mourning around the body of the beautiful Renata, the only girl to ever attend the haiku academy. None could remove their eyes from the still image of the beauty; It was as if the spark of life sparkled just beneath her skin, but it was cold and stiff to the touch, and the wound on her neck could not be ignored; someone had murdered her in cold blood. The students looked up at each other with dead eyes, and it seemed as if time itselfpassed with no notice. Finally, their apathy was conquered by physical weariness, and they realized that the sun had just set; they had wasted an entire day in lament.

Day 4 has ended! It is now night 4!

    This night, two poets met
    The Purist and the Jealeous
    and joined ways again.

    "AskThePizzaGuy,"
    one sneered. "Finally got you!"
    The knife spoke from then.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    AskThePizzaGuy was a vanilla townie!

    It is now day 5!
The last four students gathered, looking at each other nerveously. The wicked grin that passed between two of them was easily visible. Panicking, ArpeggiateTHIS took a step backwards. "No! This... This is impossible. Why all this blood? Why all this death?"
He felt someone clench his arms behind his back, baring his breast. Forth stepped Sprig; his face was a mask of calculated calm, and his pale fingers clenched a deadly penknife. "None of you deserves it. Look at your amateurish poetry. YOU ARE NOT WORTHY! I had to... I had to kill them, Arpeg. Whenever one of them said a faulty poem, I carefully noticed the offence. And I repaid it in full with this knife, every night, one at a time. And now, you."
Before ArpeggiateTHIS could answer, Sprig violently thrusted the penknife into him time and again, again, again, just below the ribcage. The poor victim, still retained by Sprig's partner, sputtered a low whimper, blood running from his mouth, mixing with spit and froth as his body spasmed and collapsed on the floortiles.
The two murderers turned and looked at the last remaining student, Captain Blackadder. "Now, you," Sprig noticed. The Captain backed nerveously. "No, no... Please say this is just a bad dream! I want to wake up!"
Sprig smiled his devilish smile and threw the penknife to his partner, Joooray. "Get him," he said, turning his back and already on his way to his chamber. The beastlike Joooray quickly overpowered the innocent captain, and Sprig shrugged as he went inside, trying to ignore the noise.

The mafia have won the game!
Congratulations to Sprig (the Purist) and Joooray (the Jealeous)!
And thanks to everyone for playing! Postgame discussion may now begin!

(Am I allowed to break haiku now that I'm dead?)

I knew Sprig had something to hide, and Pizza fell for it! Hah, that was good.
As for Jooray, I can't believe I bought his early-on inactivity story. Sounded so legit.

Great game DE, and I have a (slightly odd) request. If you ever get the chance, could you start up the seven man scrimmage series again? I missed out on the fun last time, and reading them was hilarious (especially the jester game).

EDIT: And why did I have to die such a gruesome death? Stab-happy Sprig.
Arpeggio: A broken chord. Arpeggiate: Breaking up a chord. ArpeggiateTHIS, scumbag.

Even if we had another round, ATPG would have been lynched and the mafia would have won anyway. Congrats to the mafia, especially Sprig whose, um, interesting strategy of not saving himself from a tie vote certainly threw me off the trail.

That's not certain. but yes I agree that odds were favoring the mafia. They didn't attract much suspicion . But things can always change in a mafia game :p

It wasn't really your fault (okay, but not in that sense); The mafia had to kill someone who had made a wrong haiku if anyone had done so during the day before.
Hence why ATPG got to live to the end. They were aching to kill him but he was simply in the clear with his haiku

There is (and it's in haiku!). I'll let Sprig and Joooray decide if they want to share the link.

I disagree. They were limited in kill choices but had an extra vote (once) to compensate. Against 9 townies where one was a doctor and one was an unlynchable princess. Quite fair odds in my optics, you just hit the brick wall hard this last round.

What? The game is over already, and there I was afraid to look at the threat, because I feared to be put under more pressure by pizza.
Yeah, Sprigs move day one was probably what made the game for us, as I said, it was a risky move, but I'm sure he would have been under a lot of pressure if he had broken the tie. I also could have saved Sprig there, because I had the ability to add a vote in private, but felt it wouldn't be a good idea to use it day one and thus putting a lot of attention on Sprig. We definitely took our chances there.
Also we were a bit limited because of having to choose as our kill target someone that made a mistake during the day, but maybe that also helped, because our kill pattern wasn't readable this way (e. g. I'd never kill landlubber night one). Ultimately it maybe won us the game though, as we would have killed pizza last night if we had free choice.
BTW: Here is our quicktopic, in order to impress DE it is also mostly in Haiku.

And the inactivity story was totally legit, although as pizza says, I'm not the most outspoken person anyway and the Haiku thing limited that even more, as it always took me quite a while to actually post.

Finally, thanks a lot for the game DE, I had a blast. I'm sure I'm not the only one that took some time to write the Haiku which may have limited participation quite a bit. But I found it worth it, as it was a real nice variation and break from the normal routine.

FYI - which innocent person does this? when I reflect back on it, if I was innocent I would have saved myself. I think most people would have as well? The reason that I voted for you to make the 3-way tie is that I thought my 33% chance of dieing was better odds than having to defend myself from the lynch the next day.

In that regards, voting for the tie was scummy.

I am glad we won as I was suspecting that I would have to sacrifice myself the following morning (as per QT).

    - My extra vote will only help if it's a close vote and for this at least one townie has to vote with us otherwise we can only achieve a tie and this will most likely expose our connection.
    - You confessing can be easily interpreted as you trying to save someone, especially if I'm the one up for the lynch.

So we either get pizza lynched or you have to claim rather early and with what explanation?

but still, we can play around with the fact that it was renata not atpg or myself.

    Sprig - M
    Joooray - M
    Captain Blackadder
    ArpeggiateTHIS

We just need on more Wrongful lynch.

I do wonder if tommorrow we should sacrifice myself? Once i am dead you should get another vote and be able to kill whoever you chooce.

Hmm if i think about it. We should win?

If we lynch Atpg we outnumber the innocents

If we can't we might be able to use your extra vote to get an innocent killed, if not it might be good to sacrifice myself. I can admit to being the purist.

    Night 3 - Kill Renata
    Day 4 - Lynch sprig
    Night 4 - Kill ATPG

Day 3 - only 3 would remain, and you can lynch whoever you want with your two extra votes
My claim would have been along the lines of "I am the purist but i am not mafia - I am force to kill people that make mistakes in their haiku. If there is no mistakes then noone dies, etc..."

My thinking was that it would be preferable to paint yourself as scummy, which you could at least defend against. I've never been big on leaving things to chance, and you took a fairly big one. The payoff was definitely worth it though.

To be fair, (you can ask Renata)
Logic tends to fly out the window

    I don't know, I liked it.
Yeah, it was me trying to look super innocent, I thought if I just joined the bandwagon and ignored the bad feeling about you and Sprig that was expressed by others, I might appear more scum, than by adding to the case against you, which had no chance of succeeding that day anyway. But I guess it was a bit much and might have gotten me lynched the next day, which was the only scenario in which we actually could have lost at that point. So, yeah, dodged a bullet there.

The reason it wasn't a good case was because my behavior was demonstrably not what you said it was, and I was able to rally townies to my side and avoid being lynched.

Had the wagon been on someone besides classical, it would have been a bad move for you to go after me like that. The real error was mine, but the case you put up against me wasn't strong and I was able to deflect it. Like I said, I blame myself for not capitalizing like I should have.
