LEN, if you could make it to the Windy City and get yerself some sort of work visa, we'd be in business. I guess that ain't likely.
Man, I thought everybody here in the US was out of work and killing rats in the sewers for dinner. I've thrown this job opening past three geeks friends and they all turned up their noses. Hrmph.

Why is it that every organisation requires 'strong organisational skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and multitasking'? Aren't people who are focused on one task, and left alone to finish it with whatever mental processes they like more valuable for achieving a result?
However, ranting is not the main reason for my post.
Perhaps we could create a 'jobs' section... Considering the financial situations in a whole bunch of economies... Just use a simple rule like deleting all postings that are over 2 months old to avoid hogging server space...

Honestly, not in most situations, if you want a specialist that can do one thing only but better than anyone else then yes, but most jobs will want someone who can do what they want you to do while being a part of the company but can be left with minimal supervision hence "strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team" but also people that can fill in for other people and carry out more than one thing "have the ability to multitask successfully". For example I manage 4 projects, all multi million pound, so I have to work on my own initiative but they also have to fit in to the overarching programme (teamwork, multitasking and independant) and I also have to do whatever the management board think up and do them all while talking to other branches of the company like finance and commercial (strong interpersonal skills).

I think that's called underdimensioning... Sure, there are jobs that require keeping in mind a broader picture of things, but then that picture becomes the goal, and so you are still no multitasking... I guess that's a bit too zen for HR...
Speaking of which. Yours truly is about to make a move to the UK, a middle-of-nowhere location named Newbury to be exact. Is there anything to do there except get out?
