Never would I do a simple a=1, b = 2 cipher. This isn't 3rd grade. But neither would I need cryptographic hash functions either. I highly doubt any of you are experts in cryptanalysis working for the NSA. This does the job. And townies and even Jotun needn't concern themselves with it. :smiley:

As to the challenges, I think it would be fairly effective to challenge suspects (who aren't kings or champions) with with basic townie roles, or possibly champions. If we see that they are more powerful than a townie, we kill em as they are either an unhelpful god or a Jotun.

I'm the king of all of Norway. It is mine. Some peeps who call themselves king will dispute my claim, but they are nothing and nobody. I will crush them with my left index finger just to watch them die.

I was under the impression that was what the network was trying to figure out. In any case, we have already lost most of our champions, ATPG has declared king, how many more can there be out there. I think the policy of using duels to test power and lynching strong people can be reasonably effective.

This doesn't make sense, no. Townie holmgang scores might easily differ a bit. Would you lynch everyone with 5? That's probably all the champions, some of the kings and perhaps a few others. No way guaranteed to be non-human roles unless they're like, 8-10.

The writeup seems to indicate that Heimdall was killed by the Jotun... It comments that he should have been able to hear his attackers coming, and Heimdall has the best hearing of all the Aesir (he can hear the grass grow).

ATPG doesn't strike me as scummy, Nightbringer, and a holmgang score of 5 proves nothing, really. I'll look for other suspect tomorrow when I've slept.

I frankly have no idea who they are, I think basic townies should challenge suspicious individuals to try to find powerful roles. As you said many pro town power roles are already dead so strong duel scores are likely to indicate Jotun.

Pro town power roles should avoid challenges, as should a few townies to help hide them, because that immediately reveals them to the Jotun.

If a duel finds a powerful player, who is not killed the next night, they are almost certainly Jotun.

I never said I wanted Kings to reveal, I was under the impression certain persons already knew who they were. Those persons would then be capable of challenging other players to test their power.
If they were powerful, the odds of them being a Jotun would be very high.

I doubt there's more than one pro-town god left and certainly we shouldn't trust Loki. If you are challenged to a Holmgang he can take your place. If the Holmgang you have been challenged to is the one which will be fought I will send you a pm with the question of you wanting a champion in your place. Remember, the Jotun will be looking for you and will discover that someone took your place.

Physics is a model, an instrumentalist description. It isn't an entity in itself. Dice roles could very well be truly random ontologically in themselves, as with every other phenomenon, but the mechanical description of them aren't. It is a human created enterprise, subject to all of it's non-randomness. Why would the divine even want to deal with that crap? This is all in the ascension handbook 101. Naked Serial Killer Guy, if you're unrelated to Loki & co. you'd do everyone else including yourself a favor by killing one of Hankerchief, Roink, or possibly White_eyes. There's no guarantee but it is just the right number of recruits for Loki to be a Cult Leader and obviously we have non-Jotun, anti-town roles out there. Town needs to nip this one in the bud but it may be getting late for that with so many power roles gone, as this would help both town kings and Jotun though that's all right by me.

Of course we'll also see if the Jotun simply kill Loki tonight, because enough people in one voting block will take them out just as easily too. (Though Andres could be a recruit pretending to be Loki on his god's behalf, so maybe killing one of those others is yet a good call by the Jotun, just some thoughts).

Though I've always found it kinda shameful metagaming and try to avoid having it in games, when basic townies give up and try to betray the rest of the town for when they eventually get recruited.

Any game where two rival scum families exist is usually much easier for the town to win because the mafia parties will be attempting to destroy each other and usually have a better idea what to do than basic cannon fodder.

I'm rooting for the town, but town can become cult. Town can't become Jotun so far as I know. Town and Jotun will always be enemies.

So not too big of a loss for the Jotun to see if Andres is truthful rather than walk into a trap where he's not actually Loki.

By the way I still think it's likely Andres is fronting for someone else who's actually Loki. The best guess, reading their posts, is that it is Reenk after all and the Jotun taking him down is a good way for Loki to go.

If Andres actually is Loki and actually goes into a Holmgang he could easily kill another townie and at least get his strength confirmed anyway, plus he wouldn't be able to Holmgang again for another night. So not too big of a loss for the Jotun to see if Andres is truthful rather than walk into a trap where he's not actually Loki.

I do hope Loki isn't allied with the Jotun, of course.

Also i would like to ask again, what are the limitations of the dead players in this game? What can we do and what we can not?

No, you're right, Kage, we are really doing that bad. The one upside is that having Heimdall die made it possible for Loki to be pro-town.

Dead players can post, but they can't vote, PM, or give out sensitive information. Standard fare.
