BKB, I saw through your files that you send me, I couldn't see something wrong at first glance. I don't have that much time left to look at it closely so I am sorry to say that I can't be of any help.
I hope that you succeed in making the new map run.
Good luck,

Thanks DJ. I did eventually fix it - inexplicably it was a problem with Finland which was soon fixed.
BKB Questionnaire - I think Tosa's still ill and Barocca is working on it. I'll post as soon as I know anything. Apparently you can download all 29 files in the Org's Uploads section and put them together with WinZip before extracting but I would only recommened this IF you know what you're doing - it has the potential to mess up.

Good news lads....Tosa's back and if it were not for an error on my behalf the map would've been uploaded today. I don't know if this has been said before (I've rapidly checked the post, so I might have past it) but I have a technical problem with the campaign/glorious achievements. I've just started a game with the Teutonic Knights and I clicked on the glorious achievements icon to check out the goals. But then, the game crashed http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-anxious.gif
This goes only with the new factions as i've seen it, even when I was playing the HRE and I went to check the glorious achievements icon again to see all the factions' objectives (is it because there wasn't any objectives put in place for each new faction, perchance...?).
Anyway, I've played the germans up to 1120 for the moment, and I had a LOT of good time (even if I have some pesky Bohemian and French gang-banging me right now... It spices up things a bit :) )
Great mod Can't wait to play with the version with the new provinces http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif

05-25-2004, 06:49
Well Broken Silence, its a bit of common knowledge I suppose. As the GAs are hard coded they can't be edited, so any faction that wasn't in the original campaign wont have GAs and the game will crash whenever you try to show the GA window. However, you can play the GA mode, as long as you don't press the wrong button. (the older factions work as normally, but you can't see the progress of the new factions) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
EDIT: meh, it didn't really make sense. It should make some now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif

From the mouth of BKB:
This mod will require all three of the super high downloads to work.
If you are new to the Super Mod scene, you now do not need to download the super early mod.
This will fix all pre-battle shield problems.
The old provinces may seem slightly bigger/smaller, but this is down to the fact that the map editing is very difficult, and i could not remember the original sizes.
Apologies in advance, but I will not be on till tomorrow(due to more problems arising with computer...damn viruses)
Finally, this is available, can't wait to play it.

Well I just spent an hour following the instructions to the letter installing it and now my game just crashes when I start a new campaign. I followed the instructions perfectly, although they were a little confusing at times. Is it possible to make an easier method of installation....like a self extractor or .exe installer?
I'm really sad right now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

I'll wait till it's on the org... can't abide those 3d downloaders.
BKB-Questionairre
05-26-2004, 23:29
The org uses 3D downloads to host its files, so no matter what file you're downloading, if you're getting it from the org you have to do it through 3d downloads. So don't wait.
Well my entire game is now totally messed up after installing the map patch. I had to uninstall the game and now my CD refuses to reinstall it. How annoying. I suppose I'll have to go without the mod for a while since i have no clean directories to copy.

So, I tried installing it. It all went well until I tried to actually play it. The minimap did not show up; not at the faction nor at the era choices. However, the campmap DID show by the other eras, although a little messed up (as the location of provinces is changed).
No problem yet, though, I can choose the super early/super high campaign and choose my faction. However, at the loading of the campmap screen I had a CTD.
I assume that something is missing that gives the eras their own specific map. I think that because apparently the old thingies do work for the normal eras. Weird is that it all worked perfectly before installing the expansion.
Second, Im quite confused by all those supermod maps. Why not just do it the regular way? It seems like it has seriously messed some stuff up and why change when it worked ok before? Besides that, it makes the installation unreasonably difficult and confusing. A normal copy to the regular folders should suffice, as it has done before.
I hope BKB will be back soon. I tried to rectify stuff but I couldn't find what exactly was missing. Even stranger is that there is something missing that was around in previous mods.

Hi BKB.
I've just downloaded new map. Not bad, but I think, that Moravia (if is present) is placed in bad position, also Silesia Covers big pat of Saxony. I'll try to change Lukupmaps and you some scratches (it would be too big to send you whole files), may I as why did you included MapTex files? They don't seem to be changed and increase final size rapidly. Whose txt files do I have to alter? Startpos? If you want, you can send me some flags to make some gamends for upcoming SuperLate.

sorry people, i dont think bkb will be on tonight, i'm gonna give him a phone call now to tell him the problems and feedback, and i'll get back to you in a minute. i suspect that the problems may be down to a misunderstanding in the installation guide, but as i said i will answer this in a minute.

Duke Dick
05-27-2004, 19:02
ok, just got off the phone, and it looks likely thatEllesthyan problems may have arisen due to an error in the installation of the mod, as spetznatz seems to have gotten it to work properly.
spetzNatz, the maptex files have been included because the map has been altered, so the maptex has been changed as well, so that the new provinces can be accomodated.
SpestzNatz, in my opinion, you are being a bit harsh on bkb by complaining about the provinces and there locations. map editing is a very hard and arduous task, and the effort that bkb put in to doing this map is hard to believe. unlike many other mods, BKB is basically a one man show(others like yourself do offer a helping hand every now and then), and at present is at university studying and preparing for exams, so errors may occur, but imo you do not have to be pedantic and nit-pick little things like this. BKB used proper resources for his locations and examined many before putting them in.
Duke Dick.

Steppe Merc - the org uses 3d downloads to host ALL of its files, so even if you download it from the Org's link you're still getting it from 3d downloads. So it doesn't make sense to wait.
The Blind King of Bohemia

Well, I'm back....
Not sure about the problems you guys. I realise the installation process is tough but it's the only way I could keep the mod size down - otherwise it would've been about 80MB. Spetz have you got it working? If so, I presume you guys should look back over the installation process.
Once again, I reiterate this - using the LMM, considering it was my first time, is DAMN tough - if I made some mistakes redrawing provinces then I'm sorry but you'll have to live with it. Please bear in mind that it is easy to criticise and not so difficult to do

Getting frustrated now.....I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game 5 times now since it never seems to work. At first the game crashed when I even clicked on Super High on the start new campaign screen. Now I can select a faction but when I do and the game starts loading, I get a message saying 'error loading offscreen'. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, I keep following the instructions to the letter.
I would propose a second download be made avaliable in which all the comlicated files are already allocated into the correct folders, so computer-idiot people like me can get it to work. I am really anxious to get this patch working, been waiting for it for more than 2 weeks now.
Heimdall
05-28-2004, 04:31
Hey, everyone
I think I may have figured out the problem. The install instructions say:
'Textures' folder
Copy the 'SuperMod' folder into your 'Textures' folder
While fiddling around after my first CTD, I figured out that the above should really say:
'Textures' folder
Copy the 'SuperMod' folder into your 'Textures/campmap' folder
Once I made that little move, everything worked just fine. I followed the rest of the instructions just as they're written.
In spite of that one minor glitch http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif , let's all give BKB a hearty HURRAH for vastly enhancing an already great mod.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to start my Latin States campaign and slap some Bulgars and Byzantines around.
Cheers for BKB

I'm trying to install campaign with a new map. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif
I must be a moron, but installation is too complicated for me. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-clown.gif
Which files should I mix with brand new folders with new map: all 4 files (at the beginning of this thread)? Or only BKBSuperHighBeta.zip? What does it mean previous release? - theese 4 files from the beginning?
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif
Another pain: Copy all the contents of your previous BKB 'Buildings' folder into the 'SuperMod/Buildings' one
But I don't see any Buildings in my folders from BKBSuperHifhBeta.zip... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif
Is it possible to put somewhere a complete zip file with the freshest files? I know, it could be about 80 MB, but this mod rocks and I want to look at new elements and fight for new provinces...

Booyah It works A big THANK YOU goes to Heimdall http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/ht_bow.gif
BKB: It's awesome. I've played the English (and the Venetians a little) sofar. Gascony is cool as it saved my ass from the Navarrese http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-smile.gif more provinces does improve the gameplay.
However, I also must say that (although I can understand) especially the position of some provinces is a little odd. Hungary/Transylvania I can overlook but the Greek provinces are clumsy. A better looking division would've been like this: You know how Greece looks in our time, right? Well, take the northern part until Thessaly and call that Macedonia or Thessaly. Capital Thessaloniki. Southern part is proper Greece, as it is atm. Epirus _SHOULD_ not have a part of the east coast It should combine south Epirus (check the atlas) with Albania. Capital Durazzo/Durachium.
The rest is ok with me. Some provinces could use some smoother borders but as you had to redo the whole map I can understand.
If you ever feel the urge to have a go at the map again, please consider my input But even without, I'm loving it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

Hmmm I've just found a nice little bug.
The link between the Black sea and the rest of the mediterranean is broken. Ships that are created in the Black Sea are trapped there, and ships that are made elsewhere cannot cross the Hellespont into the Black Sea. If I remember correctly this is fairly easily fixed in the startpos files, but I myself forget how to do it.

Hi BKB and all... been playing the mod for a while, love it Got the new version working fine too, so far no issues but I haven't been in all the territories yet because of the following issue...
Does anyone else think the English campaign in either Early or High is impossible? I've tried it like 5 times now, 3 High and 2 Early, and I'm in a hopeless situation by the 10th turn. It seems like they need more ships, or ports, or something, to get a starting infrastructure going so they're not broke in 5 years with crap armies and no navy. The last one I tried (Early), I focused on getting my income going first, and building some ships, but as a result I didn't have enough troops to fight off the French and Navaresse when they decided to attack as soon as my first ship hit the water, which the French promptly sunk.
In the previous version I noticed they usually got wiped out before too long too... when I was playing on the other side of the map (Venetians). Seems a country like England should at least be able to survive consistently... :)
Anyway just my early thoughts so far... I'll keep trying
Thanks
Ellesthyan

Yes and no, Warlokk. Playing the English was relatively easy for me (easier than the Genovans), but the AI doesn't survive long. They can handle the French, and even the 2 of their isle enemies together, but as usually the third isle faction and the Aragonese/Navarrese invade a little later it's end game soon for the English.
My Genovans had it difficult. There are not enough ports around to get a reliable trade income fast; only way to survive is to get rid of the starting units and hope no one attacks for half a century... I was lucky and I've made it through; Its 1150 and I've captured the Venetian and Croatian factions. The Egyptians dominate the south, while the Polish are about to take over Russia after defeating the last cumans and Hungarians. France is mighty; It has almost the whole British isles and Scandinavia, besides France itself. The Sicilians have taken advantage of the many provinces in Greece; in a bloody war with the Byzantines they have gotten Morea, Epirus, Crete and Rhodos firm in their hands.
The new provinces and factions together make it a wonderful mod. A little unbalanced, but nothing too bad. Great work, BKB http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cheers.gif

Hi BKB.
I have something to say about new map. I'll send you my ideas tomorrow. I think, that you should keep original shapes of provinces (as you said, it's difficult to change them) and add new ones. I've altered shapes of provinces Lesser Armenia and neighbours and Jerusalem, Tripoli (and surrounding provinces) because I've missed it in original map, and also Bohemia and Moravia, because it was more correct than in your map. Why didn't you asked me? I would advise you, because it looks odd in your map. Could you tell me which files to alter and how to make new provinces? I've changed lukupmaps, but what else? I can change maps, while you can take care about something else. BTW could you make free space in your mailbox to be able to receive 1,5 MB files?

The Startpos must go in Campmap/Startpos - just checking as it seems like a problem to do with that.
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Loving the new map,
It was worth waiting for. Been doing some tinkering, managed to introduced some of Dj's new units for superhigh (in high and late and extended late to 1500). Overwrote the original bifs and LBMs in all the files, the custom files replace.i.e Chainhlm, etc.
As long as you ignore the original early, high, late and restrict the factions using the new bif's to original factions it works fine. Makes Hundred year war battles kewl. Been resisting the temptaion to have some anachronistic elephants. Maybe a Mongol, Hind influenced army could get away with it.
However in effect overwriting the files makes Supermod an overwrite but once you've finished superlate You may aswell make it an overwrite. Going to add some faction colours to the ChivMAA, FeudMAA's etc shields give them a bit of individuality (eventually). But now back to beta testing. Once again many thanks for all your hard work. It has kept my interest in this game alive. And congrats on the new job.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Hmmm,
I'm guessing its Medieval era (could be wrong, its just a hunch). Elephants, seems to be the clue, and a new map is needed. So it could be something like a Medieval far or middle eastern campaign. But maybe thats just what I'm wishing for (anything involving the Hynd would be toptastic).
I couldn't resist adding the Elephant's, BKB. Can't really justify there presence, but they just look so dam funky. Think I'm going to make a Hind and Mughal army anyway. If only for custom battles.
As far as adding the new animation bif's by overwrite, I assume its how the Hellenistic boy's crammed so many new animations into their mod. You also have to overwrite weapons and shield files (in the textures files) where appropriate. I think the HTW guy's got round the faction shield problem thing buy renaming factions, in the changes file. So in effect they didn't add any new factions (just a guess).

Sorry for asking you this but I'm new to this board and I would like to install your mod. I visited the first page of this thread but it's all pretty confusing. I downloaded all the files from those links and unzipped all of them's contents in a folder. I overwrote older files with new ones and moved the final result to my MTW folder. When I try to play Super High or Super Early the game CTD. What am I doing wrong ?

Right zip, did you:
Download high(you don't need early)
Download the map
and install the two patches?
Thats all that needs to be done. Remember about the faction shields though as put down on page one of the thread.
Welcome to the Org by the way http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
As I've told you, I downloaded EVERYTHING.
I guess I've installed to much. This means I have to uninstall MTW-VI and reinstall and then reinstall your mod. Uffff......
Well, I've done all the reinstalling and unzipped only what you said, but now when the game loads to about 20% I get an error like that sounds like this: error loading offscreen and then it CTD.

The geezer you've made a mistake down the line http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif If you wait to mid july i am hopefully releasing the whole thing in one HUGE install(auto probably)
By the way, I'm working on two new maps for super early and late. In Early, Savoy, Samogitia, Morea, and Moravia have been removed. Now in place are Iceland, Paphlagonia, Seville and York. Nicaea has been given to the Turks. The Epirus problem is fixed with it being rightly situated (to a certain degree). Its all but done and should be released next week. Your super high will still work fine with the other map http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif
With an auto install hopefully If all goes well the big release in about a months time will feature it toohttp://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-2thumbsup.gif
Oh and because each period uses a new campmap it means the prebattleshields can now be correct

As it is written, it really get complicated. I have the same problem when the map doesn't appear.
5. Copy the 'SuperMod' folder in 'Pieces' into your 'Pieces' folder. Here it gets complicated:
• Copy all the contents of your previous BKB 'Agents' folder into the 'Supermod/Agents' one
• Copy all the contents of your previous BKB 'Buildings' folder into the 'SuperMod/Buildings' one
• Copy all the contents of your previous BKB 'Ships' folder into the 'SuperMod/Ships' one
• Copy all the contents of the new BKB 'Units' folder into the 'SuperMod/Units' one
6. Copy the 'SuperMod' folder in 'Portraits' into your 'Portraits' folder. Once again, it gets complicated:
• Copy your previous BKB 'Catholic' folder into it
• Copy your previous BKB 'Orthodox folder into it
• Copy your previous BKB 'Muslim' folder into it
• Copy your previous BKB 'Pagan' folder into it
• Copy your previous BKB 'Vikings' folder into it
Should I copy all the files in the folders to the ones in Supermod, or just the ones which I got when I downloaded the mod?
7. Copy all the contents of your previous BKB 'Shields' folder (including 'Colours') into the 'Shields' folder supplied. Then, copy all the contents of the new 'Shields' folder into your 'Shields' folder.
This one I quite don't understand, I cant copy the new shield folder into the shield folder as they have the same name.

Another way, possibly easier:
1. Ensure that you have downloaded all three Super High downloads and have installed them, and that the game works correctly. Basically your BKB game pre-map.
2. Make a new folder called SuperMod in your Portraits folder.
3. Copy the following Portrait folders into that one:
Catholic
Orthodox
Muslim
Pagan
Vikings
4. That should do it

This is easy. Just copy the contents of my shield folder (including colours) into yours Now why did I write it like that?? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-dizzy2.gif
Finally, there is one more error. The 'SuperMod' folder in 'Textures' should go into your 'Textures/Campmap' folder.

If all goes well, Super Late should see Morea, Apulia and Pereyaslavl removed to be replaced by the Balearic Islands, Carinthia and Ruthenia. I'm also tinkering with the idea of removing Bosnia from High in order to add Tana in South Khazar, which could greatly assist the Georgians. What do you guys think? So each era will have at least one exclusive province:
Early
Iceland
York
Seville
Paphlagonia
High
Morea
Tana (Unsure)
Late
Balearic Islands
Carinthia
Ruthenia
Along with exclusive factions and units for each era, each period will now provide totally different gameplay options.
hey everyone Ive been trying to get new mods for awhile yet and still not getting how to find/download/install them
this mod looks and sounds AWESOME by all accounts so when he does finish his full version with auto install and all the other goodies I'll be sure to check it out, as long as its easy to do that is http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif

May I ask if limit of 256 provinces is reached, that you started to remove previous provinces?
Btw, thanx for help in MedMod forum.

The only game province I plan to remove is Pereyaslavl in Late. Unfortunately 8 new provinces is the limit, 107 in total, plus 36 seas. I only have 14 seas in the Eastern Promise mod and I hoped to add a further 11 provinces because of it but I hear it's not possible. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif
For this reason I've had to cut a few out, but its not the end of the world.
Oh and Spetz, any chance of some more Game Endings for the July release? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif

Sorry, I was pretty busy (who said that studying at the university isn't time consumer). Could you send me some flags of new factions (I have latest 0.7 version, so, if none faction is added, I'll try to take care of the rest, but I think, that I wont be able to catch this term, but I'll try). Could you tell me which factions not to do because they will be removed (like Bretons)? Please, try to send me those flags ASAP, for now, I'm on-line but, tomorrow, I won't. Bye.
I've read in campmap, that limit number of provinces is 256.
The Blind King of Bohemia

I'll try but I think there's a good few in Early and High that you have yet to do that maybe you could be getting on with. No early or high factions will change for the final release, and you have my word on that.
The Early map is practically done so I'll begin work on the revised high map today. Now I've gotta do the prebattleshields and all So much to do, so little time http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-juggle.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-help.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/bigthumb.gif
Must get Sna Man to do the deadpage coords as well before all is said and done. If worst comes to worst I'll do it myself (I've got a good idea how) but it'll be a an extra burden to put up with http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/barrel.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/medievalcheers.gif

Did you get my mail with changed campmap? Shall be Moravia there (I think that Bohemians need it, one starting province and surrounded by enemies make them to be in very hard position).
The Blind King of Bohemia

Is this in early? Trust me spetz, the bohemians don't need it. They attack the HRE immediately. If anything moravia was hindering them in early.
High is also being changed, moravia and epirus being fixed with bosnia being removed and tana being added to help Georgia out.

Very, VERY nice. Is just love Iceland. Very nice strategic location, as the Norse are well placed for a two front invasion of England.
Seville will definately be useful. I can't even play any of the faction that start on the Iberian Peninsula, there are 7 factions sitting right on the peninsula it's its a free for all death match for control, and it's just insane. I really hope Seville adds some balance to the Iberian front.

Sorry to doublepost but I have no idea how to edit on these forums...I don't see an edit button anywhere.
I wanted to add that I hope the 9-star Valencian king is changed in the next version. It's completely unfair that they start off with a 9 star general, as the Aragonese are in just as bad of a starting position (if not worse) and only get a 5 star king. In every campaign I play, the Aragonese are killed off 5 turns in and the Valencians always move on to take over all of Spain. I just hope it's changed so it's possible to play as the Aragonese.

Apulia
In High, Greece has been removed and added are:
Moravia

Apulia
In Late, Greece and Pereyaslavl have been removed and added are:

The Balearic Islands. A nice interesting province that could increase Aragon or the Italian States' naval might.

Carinthia - cuts off Eastern Europe from Venice. A good buffer.

This is how I have removed Pereyaslavl and reworked it into the other provinces.
http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/story/BKBLate4.jpg

Hello all
I might be new to the org but i played Stw/Mtw for some years now... but that only as a sidenote.
I ran into some trouble with BKB_07
It took me aprox 8 hours to get all files and install them 1 by 1 ..early.0.5 0.6 high etc.
I managed to get it working just fine until 07.
The Game itself runs, the map works, only when a battle should be fought i get the message:
Unable to load Mons Texture pack
I used search function and found a Mons.bif file in Pacs folder, I double checked with the other instaltion I got of MTW/VI and its just the same. So I cant really make out what the problem is atm.
Any help would be very welcome
The Blind King of Bohemia

I'm not sure to be honest. Perhaps someone whose had the problem can help Szun out? Maybe you should wait for the auto-install release early next week, which will bring you up to date with everything before Super Late is released.
ok early next week ,that i can live with :D
I just played a bit, I can do anything normal just not load battlefields to fight on (wich is why we play right?)
The AI still amazes me how stupid it is...no sense of selfpreservation at all. Of course i played GER_HRE and got swarmed from all sides..as usual.
Is there a way to mod the AI or is it hardcoded?

Q. to BKB
Will be the minors problem with Glory goals CTDs be fixed with autoinstall? e.g. if i play Teutonic Order and want to check glory goals I drop out to desktop 100% of the time.
Or is there a fix i missed somewhere?

One thing which has caught my eye is the Ottoman Expansion campaign. Can someone tell me more about it? I've had a look at the Blind King's website and it looks outstanding .
Oh really? You visited the site? I wonder when. It doesn't work anymore.

Hi Blind King,
Your work is incredible. May all the treasures of Constantinople go to you http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-toff.gif.
Now I have a few questions http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .
Will we be seeing any of the Byzantine Epirus or Morea factions? Maybe even a Trebizond one?
What are your thoughts of any other Turk factions? Because at the time of the First Crusade the Danishmandids occupied most of eastern Asia Minor while the Saljuqs of Rum had the west (probably Anatolia and Nicaea by using the MTW map.) The Turks seemed to always have problems with the eastern regions of Asia Minor and maybe throwing in another Turk faction could make things interesting?
Will El Cid still be a 9-star general? I think this is too much. I'd favour something like 5-star and a virtue of Expert Attacker. Something like he is in the original game I guess.
That's it for now http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif .
The Blind King of Bohemia
06-27-2004, 13:02
Epirus and morea and trebizond will be in eastern promise but not in this mod. That area os congested enough me thinks.
I will reduce el cid if people want it.
The danishmends will make eastern promise but alas lack of room makes them not appear in this mod.
Minikiller wait till tuesday, super early and high finished versions(nearly 99 percent full version, probably a small patch might follow it incase i forget something) and the two maps will be released with a auto install.
The Blind King of Bohemia

I just want to say to people don't expect anything new bar the maps apart from a few gameplay tweaks. Units are tight at the minute - I'm vastly running out of BIF room space. I wanted to make Icelandic Infantry but there really is no room for another shield in any of the foot soldiers folders. Expect many new cavalry units in Late, although you can look forward to the likes of English and French Foot Knights and Orebite Spearmen.

Can't wait. I have no problems with El Cid being a Nine star, it makes sense to me. Makes more sense than the rest of the really high start kings of the rest of the small factions.

Ya I agree, with smaller factions there must have been a very good leader in charge for them to even breath semi clean air. 9 is fine with me, will help them stay around longer.

Will this mod use the homelands rule like in the Medmod? That is factions can only train troops that share their ethnicity.

Hi everyone, I know this is my first post but rest assured I have been reading this forum regularly for about a year now. I've never posted before because I've never really had anything worth saying that hasn't been said before but if one thing was going to make me post it had to be this mod... its great, the way all the small factions stop any of the big factions just strolling over the map like I found the Almohads used to in early.
Enough gratitude, the one thing I think will help the next mod and solve one major issue is the use of York as a further province in Britain. I mod the game quite a lot - always use your mod as the canvas (forgive me I know not what I do) - and I also added York(shire) as a province in Britain. It makes a huge difference. England can more than cope now they have one extra province that's not on any frontiers. I noticed a bigger difference in their fortunes than I found when I simply just removed the Welsh. Top move BKB Yorkshire folk to the rescue.
I also agree with the splitting of Greece, again this made a big difference... I took out Serbia, enlarged Croatia, put in Epirius, Macedon and Achaea with plenty of trade goods. Greece became a 3 way warzone between the Croatias, Sicilians and Byzantines.
Can't wait for the new patch to see what you've done with the new units. I'm no good at the units and buildings side of things see (and not much history beyond English and French)... don't worry I never distribute my mods beyond me (no plagerism here).
Anywho... thanks for keeping this game alive for me

Despot this doesn't use the homelands rule, thankfully. Quite anoying, that was.
Despot of the English
06-27-2004, 21:44
I agree that there are cases where the homelands rule doesn't make a lot of sense. A good example of this is the fact that a Catholic power is unable to train feudal men-at-arms Europe-wide; and the English can't even train swordsmen at all

Al Khalifah, thanks for the kinds words dude it means alot http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-blush.gif
I had a game with england today this is how it went. War with france. Peace after pope threatens me. Navarre invade gascony. Take it back off them. The french hit back by taking anjou. I have a civil war. Welsh hit mercia. I hit back and take wales kill off the welsh. The irish hit northumbria and york. I fight and take back the provinces, kill the irish king. They are extinct. The scots invade wales and mercia as i do this and the danes invade york as i burn scotland.
Things are tough but i plan to change it(hopefully http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

There is one new thing I'm doing for this new release: new titles. A Royal Court now gives England and HRE new titles (they need them), Ports give the Italian States Master Merchants and a Military Academy gives the Turks the Bey of the Janissaries. I may implement more where I see fit. I felt this was a nice idea to help troubled factions and also make others more unique.

Sounds tough BKB, but then again the English were (are) tough...
And I was just thinking to myself wouldn't it be good to split Scotland / Ireland (Highlands, Edinburgh, Munster, Ulster)..... on second thoughts maybe not, don't give them anymore chances.
What setting are the Navarese on for AI? They seem to just love picking a fight with the biggest opponents they can find (especially England) but I suppose Navare is hardly an empire.
Last exam tomorrow, end of college could coincide very nicely with the new mod release. Schools out and I think I'll be invading France http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Navarre are on catholic defensive but it doesn't stop them from waging war on aragon and england. But i plan to strengthed gascony so they will hopefully regret the invasion.
I would love to split up other countries but the province room is a real bugger. Hopefully these new ones such as seville will add extra spice to the iberia area and Pathalogonia(sp) will have byzantium, turks and armenia fighting over it

Is it possible to Mod the Golden Horde into the High Period as a Plyable Faction?
The Blind King of Bohemia
06-28-2004, 12:59
Yes it's quite simple. Go into Campmap, then Startpos and open the Super High file. Then set the Golden Horde to Major and remove the // before the line. Then give them a starting province and set their Khan in it and you should be laughing. I would have done it but for two reasons:
a) It's not historically accurate
b) They lose their impotus. When they invade they sweep across Eastern Europe. When you stick them in a starting province, they appear to be quite stagnant.
Rest assured though, they will be playable in Super Late

Yes, I know it's Historically Inaccurate but I've been wanting to try the Korean Units..
The Blind King of Bohemia
06-28-2004, 13:33
Then go for it mate, that remark wasn't really due to historical accuracy but more about gameplay, which you will hopefully see with this release on tuesday http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

Sorry to double post (I would edit if I could) but with the Turks losing Armenia to the new Armenian faction perhaps they should gain Anatolia from the Byzantines? As I think the Byzantines lost that territory to the Turks, along with quite a lot of Asia Minor, in the latter half of the 11th century.
