Is it wrong to give those guys a formerly functional, but now defunct, e-mail if you don't feel like getting spam from them?
I never got anything but a mail with the key from them and I bought several keys already.
Uhm, that's if you were talking about buying the game at all...didn't vote anywhere myself.
No, I was talking about the voting. I registered my copy of the game a couple of years ago, in like .650 or so. :2thumbsup:
I still remember when being able to walk around in towns was the big new thing.
I spend a couple of days with the missus and am desperate to return to a bit of Mount and Blade, only to discover they've released another version. Lots of nice little fixes in this one, but who knows what other bugs remain....
http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.p...c,39194.0.html
The post says that it is the final beta version. The final release can't be far away (IIRC they were originally shooting for May) - I wonder if they're just going to be doing minor polishing, or have something else in store?
I want to see what do the Minstrels at the inns do.
Awesome, it says you can put captured lords in prison in castles or towns ~:thumb:
Too bad its not backwards compatible, but the good thing is if you back up your export your character from the old version and import them back into the new one, you keep your honor rateing, renown and all that stuff, so you don't have to start from the bottom again.
Has anybody managed to capture a lord yet? They keep getting away after I kick their asses.
 I'm on a 955 campaign at present, and I've even caught King Harlaus (dratted man escaped, though, and I really needed the ransom money :furious3:)
In 953 I captured King Yarogleck a few times, and had an amusing encounter, along these lines:
- You have encountered a caravan, Kingdom of Vaegirs
- "Back off, knave, this caravan is under the protection of King Yarogleck!"
- "O RLY? Take a look at my prisoners, and hand over all your loot" :laugh4:
Haven't loaded 960 up yet, but looking forward to starting another new character :2thumbsup:
Yeah, I managed to capture a couple, but they both got away.
How long does it usually take to ransom a lord? I couldn't hold onto either one for even a full week. Of course, I didn't have a prison to stick them in.
I captured two or three, including the leader of the Kegrit, I read in the TW forum that honor does nothing as of yet, if thats the case I'm going to let them rot in my castle prison.:laugh4:
In my .955 game I was commanding the Swadian rebels and constantly battling with the foolish Rhodoks and Swadian loyalists. I'd capture lords all the time. Those kings are worth a lot of money though. When you get 18000 offered to release the king, well you might as well take it. Especially since he'll just spawn back with about 20 troops and you can defeat him again and again! That's how I ended up funding my 500+ top tier army - through ransoms.
As to .960, I'm not sure about updating my game yet. There are a few things I don't like the sound of. Although they say it's the last beta version, I'm hoping a quick bug-fix for the new invisible/hollow face problem will be released.
How did you get such a high figure on the max party members limit? I've been playing .903 since quite some time now, but even with good focus on leadership I can lead just 200 men.Quote:
500+ top tier army - through ransoms.
Actually it was over closer to 600 top tier troops. I don't travel with them though; crikey imagine all the horse poop we'd leave around the countryside if we all travelled at once! I stationed most of them in my castles and towns. As I have such high trainer skill and several villages which I am on very good terms with, I can easily train up new recruits into decent troops in no time. These I then give to my other lord's newly conquered castle garrisons (seeing as they're too lazy to add troops to the garrison themselves). Generally I travel around with less than 60 men. There are barely any decent sized armies to fight that I'm not at war with so that's usually enough. For sieges, to get the battle-odds more in my favour I bring extra troops along or another lord.
Generally I find it more fun to bring the minimum number of troops along that will give a decent fair battle. I wouldn't bring along 500 even if I could!
Oh right. I thought 500 in a single army, and I was like 'Whoa! How's such a big party possible!'.
60 men are just fine, I take around the same number with me, all mounted though, and there is not a party I can stand. It's fun to ride past slashing at footmen :laugh4:.
Who thinks its funny that when ever we need to find this thread we look for "Sweet Realistic Medieval Combat(Mount and Blade)
I personally find it hillarious. But I've been playing through MB lately (.955) and havent seen any special items, only the average normal stuff.
I wanted to post two problems I was having in the Hegamony 268 BC mod, but the thread is closed, so, well, firstly, the tab key is just not working, I can't use it to exit taverns, cities, arenas or battles, I need to go the boundary of each place and use the 'F' key.
Secondly, the stats at the end of the battle are bugged, for example, the stats of battle 1 are shown after battle 2, those of 2 after 3 and so on, a battle too late. That's it.
The additional options are pretty nice though, specially the 300 bit!
I wonder if the TLD mod will port to .960 which is the last beta before 1.0.
Check and make sure you havent set your tab key to function for something else. No one else is reporting an issue, so that likely may be the case.
Ahh yes the stats from the battles is a known native issue. I believe that is resolved with the newer versions of Mount & Blade. Sometimes it just requires the game to be restarted.
Yes they can be modded out, although I havent done so. No one else has reported the issue, including the internal testers so that leads me to think its the result of custom interface changes per the player.
All right, I just re-started the game, it's working great now! :2thumbsup:
BTW, one more thing, eles still can't be used as mounts in this version can they?
http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.p...c,39514.0.html
Strange, mirror bug.
I just tried it out and it was pretty funny, I got to see and talk to myself, I wonder what happens if I swear and oath to myself, ha ha ha.
I don't think it's a bug; I think it's a hidden cheat, because if you swear an oath to "yourself" you become lord of your own faction.
Im going back to M&B. The thing is...
I have to wait 25 weeks for finishing the download! I haven't been able to find a good and fast server, but at least I have the 76% completed.
I updated to .960 this yesterday evening, and playing into the night, I've managed to conquer all Swadian settlements as a vassal of the rebel faction. Still I can't seem to finish the quest. What all do I have to do before it can be done? I have 15 of the 20 lords on my side. I have won all the cities\castles\villages.
What else do I have to do to finish the quest?
I finally got a chance to upgrade from .903 to .960. I did have to go to an internet cafe, download it to my cellphone and then transfer it to my computer but it was worth it, it is way better now.
I just wish I could buy it now.
ok, so I finnaly convinced my dad to buy me the game on Sunday, and since then my times been spent on lords of war running around saxon England hacking the Britons to death, as their at war with everyone, the danes, who I really wanted to fight, are only at war with them. But anyway, loving every battle.
2 questions though; how long do wars normally last in game days (version 903)? I really want to fight the Danes
and why does version 960 seem laggy when no other one did?
I don't find .960 laggy.
Any rumors going around about 1.0 or new features that will be implemented?
Release date: 9/2008
So I'm suspecting sometime in september
I just hope they put the Minstrel back in and make him do whatever they'd planned.........
I dont remember a minstrel
Ahh but they were there in taverns, in .903, and a few more versions to.
Fun
Some screenshots have indicated that characters will have new animations. And if the system requirements touted on a few sites are correct, the final version will take up around 300-400 megabytes more hard drive space than the current one, around double the current size - probably taken up by more detailed or completely new graphical content.
The official release date for the final version has been announced. It will be September 16 in North America and September 19 in Europe. Presumably the downloadable version will be available worldwide on the initial release.
I just hope they don't charge some made up fee to the people that have had the game since day one or day twenty. I've had the game since .8 something and I'd be a little pissed if I had to pay some kind of new charge for something I paid almost a year ago, IMO.
It's been confirmed that people who have already purchased the game won't have to pay any extra for the full version.
Sweet! I paid $5 dollars for this puppy (along with my brother's $5).
I paid $12. Hehe.
Wow, so I finally forked over some cash for this game, and I'm truly addicted. Currently, I'm having a blast in .960 helping Lethwin Far-Seeker to retake the Nordic throne. Just finally got the tide turned in terms of "winning the war", by taking Suno from the Swadians, whom I had already been at war with, and convincing 8 other nordic lords to join the rebellion, netting a fair number of castles. Interesting looking map, at least imo:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I hope that 1.0 has some kind of story line, when you create a chracter it does give you options as to why your going out into the world, either for money or revenge, etc, it would be nice to have some kind of alternate endings depending on what options you choose during chracter creation.
I doubt that they'll have a 'set' storyline.........the farthest they might go on the story bit might be like what they had in Pirates II............you do it if you want or don't......this is open ended you know, they even have that 'retire from adventuring' option where you settle down in a city finally, and depending upon your status get a profession and rank.
Btw, .960 has the option of starting the player faction too, where you hold fiefs without being a vassal. This can happen when you rebel against your ruler, as in when he does not give you a castle/city you ask him for........you get this option too. I've been playing this since a few days, but've been unable to get any vassals for me, and I'm at war with three nations togather, so it's getting a little tiring now, anyone here been successful in recruting lords for their own faction?
I didn't have any luck recruiting lords to my own cause, but since I took up Far-seeker's cause, I've been quite successful in getting lords to join the cause. Furthemore, Far-Seeker's practically been a puppet so far, since every castle, village, and city we've taken thus far has been assigned by me, though with his approval. He's yet to actually decline my suggestions though.
Argh....
Okay, I need some help. I've all but crushed the Nord's ability to effectively counter attack my forces, and have essentially reduced them to a last bastion of resistance in Tihr. However...
I CAN'T take the darned city! I swear, this place is borderline impossible! Anyone got a tip on how to take this fortress?
Taking cities is one of the hardest thing one has to do in-game.......the most men I've ever carried at once was 150, and even then it was damn hard to take it.
I normally just use an axe to crash through the chaps on the wall and drop down on the other side, then, finding cover, I use my bow to pick men off the wall from behind one by one, picking up discarded arrow bags when I run out, and continue this as long as I can. Then once I'm knocked out, I just wait for a while and then begin another storming. With all my army, I manage atleast 150 in a go, with a loss of no more than 15 dead and 20 wounded. This way, I finish off the garrison and take the city :beam:
I never go in with the first wave. I always hang back and snipe with my crossbow while my Sword Sisters and Knights do my dirty work. Once my soldiers made a beachhead on the walls, I move in and stay on the top of the ladder with my pike, attacking whoever gets close to me. I switch to a war pick or other light melee weapon when the walls are cleared.
City/castle taking the SE way. Train up a massive army of top-notch archers/x-bows (a mix is handy).
Besiege city with said army, tell them all to stand ground. Assuming tactics skill is high enough, and with a liberal dose of sharpshooting yourself, plenty more enemies should die than friendlies. Retreat. Repeat until there are very few left. Run in with men at your back and democraticly issue merry mayhem to the survivors.
(High medic skills help too)
Save the knights for field battles... (fond memories of taking down 700+ Vaegirs with a hundred or so Swadian knights at my back. In one go.)
Heavy infantry - I'm sure they have their uses, decorational perhaps. If they can't ride, they're not all that much more effective in melee than a bunch of archers - and plus they don't shoot. Unless they're Nords. When they rock.
SE
I use heavy infantry for city/castle sieges, where horses cannot be used. I especially prefer the ones who do not have any ranged weapons, as anyone who stands still on the ground get chewed up by archers protected by parapets.
Nord Huskarls are the best infantry there is.......at least that is what I think. They are the units I use most often, clubbed with Vegir Marksmen, to take a city.
I agree totally, if you get the trainer stat beefed up you can get a lot of huscarls and they can take any settlement providing their not outnumbered more than two to one, by lower tier infantry.
Ahh the lower tier infantry.......contemptible peasants........it pains me a lot to see them gang up on elite troops and take them down like wolves might do to a lion........ofcourse, I always win, but still, every elite unit dead means a lot, specially if you've spent ages training them....Quote:

Eliminate all the lords parties that might be traveling in the map this can be difficult and time consuming, I know some people (myself included) turn on cheats and enable the view all feature; then all you do is scan around and take out any yellow party you see.
By "eliminate", do you mean capture? What if they get away?
If you've taken all the settlements from the faction, there's nowhere for the lords to respawn.
N.B. As soon as you win the rebellion, the Nord Rebel faction will turn into the Nord faction, and behave as normal - just with a different king. Which means you can no longer award yourself settlements...
This is speaking as the owner of every single castle in the Swadian Rebel Faction.

VERY WELL equipped:laugh4: I'm more than certain in few cases I charged a couple of defenseless arches and out of no where they put their bows away and start swinging at me with insanely long poles and spears. Sometimes not even my own soldiers carry long reaching weapons like that.
Hmm. just started finding the samurai equipment, got the armor, helmet, short and long swords. However, there's apparently supposed to be some boots, I suppose? Does anyone else know where the boots are?
If your playing Band Of Warriors, there should be Boots
Mailman653
The game is suposed to be based on early medieval times, however in the late medieval period most peasants were equipped with a ranged weapon and a polearm!
The boots have gone in .960 they used to be in veluca.
Tihr is easy to solve - use edit mode and remove the blocker that forces you to go round the first wall.
By the way, what difficulty level do people here play the game on? What realism % ?
I max everything, my charecter's attack, the attack on him, the attack on my units. However, I do play with qutting without saving.
Depends on my mood. If I want to relax, then lowest difficulty. If I want more of a challenge I'll up it.

A few days old, but its an interview with the dev team about 1.0 and the future of M&B.
I too love to stand my ground with a group of ranged units, Crossbows and Bows alike. You can often divert a lot of enemys and make their work easier.
Man I love axes in M&B, whenever I fight as a footman I always have a 2h Axe if possible, especially in siege battles. You can really swath through enemies with one.
M&B has gone gold, its going to be released Sept 16th in the US and 19th in Europe.
