The Emissary is a diplomatic agent of the faction leader. They represent the leader in both foreign and domestic politics.
Abilities
- An emissary positioned in a province owned by another faction will reveal all buildings and troops present in the province.
- An emissary can propose an alliance or ceasefire to another faction. This is done by dropping the emissary piece onto the faction leader, princess, emissary, or religious agent (not Inquisitors however) of the desired faction. If the emissary is placed on a princess, the alliance request is also a marriage proposal to the princess from one of generals of the emissary's faction. If the target piece is not the faction leader, the emissary will then proceed to the province where the faction leader resides to make the offer. Success of the diplomacy will depend on the valour of the emissary as well as the influence rank of both faction leaders. A successful proposal will increase the valour of the emissary.
- An emissary can strip a title from one of his faction's generals. This is useful when a general gains vices that impair his ability to govern well, and better general is available for the job. Striping a title will reduce the general's loyalty, he will need to be watched or disposed of to prevent trouble.
- An emissary can bribe an army stack or castle garrison from another faction. The cost and success of the bribe depend on the valour of the emissary, the loyalty of the general being bribed, and the number of troops in the stack or garrison. A successful bribe will change the bribed stack over to the bribing faction, increase the valour of the emissary, and is also a declaration of war, if the two factions were not already going at it. If the garrison of a fortification is bribed, the province (with it's buildings intact) also transfers ownership.
Survival
Emissaries require no upkeep once they are recruited, and will not die of old age. They are often targets of assassination, since they are easy targets (raising the valour of the opposing assassins), they are technically spying in enemy territory, and the threat of bribery make them dangerous. Emissaries that survive assassination attempts will gain valour, making them harder to kill.
