I do not like one player having two factions, regardless of the diplomatic situation between them before one person leaves. I also have a bit of an issue with slysnake switching to France as I think this would be unfair on the new England player who may not wish to continue as the vassal of the French; sly would have in-depth knowledge of English armies, navies and defences.

My preference is for slysnake to remain as England and to find a new player for France. What do you think about that sly?

That's a good idea and I'd be happy with that. It'd probably be fairer to you if you took France but if you both agree I don't mind if you take England and sly switches. Let's see what slysnake has to say.

Damn, should have posted my thoughts last night. I was actually planning on letting one of my friends take the account since he has been wanting to play the hotseat since I joined some 4 months ago. As far as I know, the only games he plays are the Total War series, his favorite being Medieval II. I believe we would benefit most from a player such as him because we have good relations in RL and its a realistic show of the relations involved in vassalship. We also communicate several times daily over IM and would find it easy to get along as 2 allies in this crazy world of a hotseat ^^ He is very keen to play and would answer any questions you might have to ask him.

Please tell me your thoughts on this issue, ATPG, what do you think? :)

I've been meaning to post back on this. I don't think you were incompetent at all - in fact I thought you played very well. You impressed me greatly by making a shrewd alliance with Egypt early in the game which scared the life out of us Catholics. We were forced to stand by and blow hot air while you got hold of most of greece. You then impressed (and annoyed) me by jumping in on my invasion of Byzantine lands and depriving me of arta and dyrrachium. Good opportunism there.

It was just bad luck for you that the Egyptian player changed and their policy became less aggressive so that they did not jump in when I attacked you. Even so, your alliance with the Turks kept you alive longer as they tried to defend you.

Well played sir, you lasted 40 turns in a precarious position, I take my hat off to you.

Ok. I have tried playing that stupid (although massive and epic) battle of Naples seven times or so now, and each time it freezes on me. I have tried lowering the graphics to Medieval 1 levels, but that only seemed to make it freeze faster.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that there are two AI armies, not so much the load on my PC (it can handle quite alot). I will try a reinstall of my game, and new video card drivers, and I hope it works. I do not want to be subbed, and obviously not skipped. Hope you guys can have some patience, I am working on it!

That's an idea monkey. I am reinstalling now, so I'll give it a few more tries. The furthest I've got is the routing of the first army, and of the 2nd armies advancing archers. Pretty much. Don't worry Thanatos, the time for mercy is over for both me and you guys. ;)

This battle involves some 4-5,000 men, so it is pretty epic. If I get through it (which ever the result is) I will put some kind of story/report up. :)

Ok barca can't get through the battle without it crashing so he's going to ask another forum member (not in this game) to try to play it for him following his instructions - let me know if anyone has a problem with that.

If it's a problem with the number of troops, could he go to options and change unit sizes to the smallest setting for just that battle? The only other idea I have is he could auto resolve...although I doubt he'd choose that option willingly ;)

I like those odds.

Some of my blitzmaster campaigns put me in battle odds of like 20:1, as I had to figure out ways of capturing a settlement using only one unit of horse archers versus a garrison of a unit of cavalry, missile units, and infantry.

I especially like the battles where there is basically no chance of victory, but I still destroy half their army with one unit. Then I send in another unit.... :evil:

The Data folder files are installed striaght into M2TW data folder. The VanillaMod (Configuration File) and VanillaMod (Batch File) are placed straight into the M2TW main folder.

Sounds like you didn't install it properly. You need M2TW, Kingdoms, patch 1.5, then SS to version 6.2, then the hotseat patch, in that order before it will work.

I don't have Windows 7 and I am not an expert.


I had a similar problem not too long ago, though.

Start Menu > Computer > Search drive C > ".sav"


Allow it to scan until it stops. Sometimes, with mods and stuff, the save files end up not in the usual place, but in a strange duplicate location down a very long chain of file folders that is extremely well hidden.

That is what happened to me.


Mine is now stored in C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramFiles (x86)\Sega\MedievalIITotalWar\Mods......

instead of in the usual location: C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Sega\MedievalIITotalWar\Mods......


He may be having a similar problem.

:O I have EXACTLY the same problem, and I cant think when I DIDNT have this problem with Stainless Steel lol. I started to sieve through the Preferences files here and there in the Medieval 2 Total War directory as well as in the Stainless folders, and only found a way of re-enabling banners, which were also not present on the battlefield for me :(

I also searched the net for anyone else who has had the forts problem with no avail -so does anybody else have this 'no forts' issue?

Let's see what barca has to say about whether he would have done the same and if he is happy with the outcome. (It does actually sound quite a lot like something he would do! :laugh4:)

If he is not and therefore the attack shouldn't have happened, we can work something out.

Nightbringer, you don't have to go to war unless you want to - Egypt or Turkey can pay you back for the damage and we can all pretend it didn't happen.

I'd rather see the people in question sort it out in character, for fun.
