Night 12

The following night was quiet. The seven survivors had waited almost the whole night, listening carefully for the sound of an attack some place on the ship. Finally, a few of them got fed up (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foaNVrvhpnM).

Banjo and his pal Kazooie were on their way to Siegfried’s stronghold, and they were passing through the main chamber on their way.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/BanjoandKazooie.jpg

The bear’s paws crackled with electricity. When the duo had entered the large chamber, however, they saw a figure on the other side. It was none other than Siegfried Schtauffen himself, given away by his shining crystal armor.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/SiegfriedSchtauffen.jpg

Siegfried stared at the bear and bird determinedly.

“You don’t have to hide it any more, Banjo! I know that you are really Pikachu. That backpack is the perfect place for hiding a mouse… I WILL ATONE FOR MY SINS!”

The shining knight charged with his sword drawn.

“You’re wrong, there’s no way a Pikachu could fit in that backpack with Kazooie already inside!”

“Hey! You calling me fat, pudgy?”

“Can it, Kazooie! Anyway… I’ll bet Pikachu’s hiding inside that armor of yours! I’ll tear him out with my bear hands!”

Banjo charged head on at Siegfried as well. He sidestepped the knight’s bladework and struck at his armor with a paw. Electricity surged from inside Siegfried’s armor and through Banjo.

Before whatever was happening could finish, however, a shadow sprung forth from a dark pool on the ground and struck at Banjo with a fiery fist.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Vivian.jpg

Vivian was poised, ready to strike at the bear and bird, who had been knocked to the ground.

“I knew it! I knew you were the killer! Now you’ll feel my burning wrath!”

Before Vivian could finish off the duo, however, a leather tendril caught around her wrist. They all swerved around to the left to see the vampire hunter Simon Belmont, holding her back with his legendary whip. His silent gaze was piercing.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/SimonBelmont.gif

“Let me go, or I’ll destroy you just the same!”

“Vivian! I thought we were supposed to be the good guys! You’re ready to kill anyone who gets in your way?”

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Goombario.jpg

To the right stood Goombario, who had been overlooked since he was considerably smaller than the rest of them.

“I’m sure that it was Pikachu who tried to burn me to death… maybe it’s been YOU this whole time!”

“Stop! Vivian helped us defeat that monster Gorea, or don’t you remember?”

Behind them all was the Galactic Federation Researcher, Blair Grey.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/GFResearcher.png

Quickly the group all turned on her.

“And what about you, Grey? Where did you get that Super Missile?”

“Why is it that you, a defenseless researcher, managed to survive to the end easily while all of us heroes are struggling?”

“Aren’t you the last GF crew member besides Admiral Dane?”

“DID SOMEBODY CALL MY NAME?”

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/AdmiralDane.jpg

At the entrance to the chamber was Admiral Dane himself. He strode over to them calmly.

“I think you will find that not one of you is the rodent we are looking for.”

“Then…”

“It couldn’t be…”

“ADMIRAL DANE IS PIKACHU?”

Dane endured their dull, witless accusations for a few seconds before silencing them all.

“No, you fools! Look over there!”

Dane pointed toward the left side of the room, where the headless body of Kanden was still lying after its decapitation the day before. Suddenly, it began to stir, and electricity crackled around it. The chest plate burst open, and a small yellow figure shot upwards before landing down on the floor below (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCIqh48mFdE).

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Pikachu.png

“PI…”

Pikachu's blue eyes burned intensely with a cold rage. The air around it was snapping and popping with a static field.

“KAAAA…”

A massive vortex of electricity and Phazon energy surrounded the creature. The seven survivors backed away from the deadly field of energy but could only stare in awe at it.

“CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!”

The vortex exploded into an incredible storm of electric energy. Lightning bolts shot forth from Pikachu’s body, striking the walls and floor of the chamber and creating large, blackened craters. The survivors took cover from the lightning, but were still shocked by the constant field of static electricity radiating from the creature.

Admiral Dane held up a force field around himself and tried to approach Pikachu. The barrier had been enough to defend him from every previous attack, but when the thunder attack hit it this time, the barrier shattered, and Dane was flung like a rag doll against the wall of the chamber. The Admiral limped out of the room, feeling his Energy Tank draining.

With its major adversary incapacitated, Pikachu stopped the storm and began zipping around the room, striking individually at its prey. When they tried to escape, Pikachu overloaded the automatic doors, made of heavy steel, and made them shut tight, trapping them all. Vivian and Banjo tried to fight back, but they could not even get near the creature without being electrocuted by the Phazon-charged vortex surrounding it. Pikachu began charging up for its famous Volt Tackle attack.

Without warning, one of the doors was smashed open and a figure sped in, moving as fast as Pikachu had been running before. It shot straight toward Pikachu and delivered a powerful knee to the face before retreating with a series of acrobatic flips. Captain Falcon stood as the last bastion holding back the mighty Pikachu.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/CaptainFalcon.jpg

“SHOW ME YOUR MOVES!”

Pikachu was undeterred. Phazon-charged lightning shot from its body and struck the Captain, shattering his so-called impenetrable barrier that seemed so similar to Dane’s. Falcon screamed as he was steadily electrocuted, until eventually his clothing and even skin melted off.

But underneath Captain Falcon’s skin was not muscle and bone tissue as one might expect. A complete, chiseled figure of a man stood in Falcon’s place. He was not screaming anymore, nor did he even appear to be in pain.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/ChuckNorris.jpg

Chuck Norris, with a wave of his hand, shorted out the electric current that Pikachu had been sustaining. All stared in awe at him- even Pikachu. Slowly he walked toward the creature. Then, lifting it into the air, he brought its face within inches of his own, so that Pikachu could almost feel his manly beard bristling against its own fur. And Chuck Norris stared deeply into Pikachu’s corrupted blue eyes.

In an instant, the spell was broken, and Pikachu snapped back to reality, its eyes returning to their normal black color. But Pikachu’s skin was still tinged with blue, a sign of near-complete Phazon corruption. The creature looked around in a daze at first. Then, as if recalling some terrible occurrence, it squeaked and sprinted out of the room.

Chuck Norris turned to the six survivors.

“Follow me. I know where we’ll find it.”

-------------------------------------------------

Pikachu sat in the center of the morgue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRhS0Y-jApM), viewing all of the carnage it had wrought with tears streaming down its blue cheeks. It remembered being forced to destroy its own comrades: Sora, Master Chief, Slippy Toad, and most of all, Link. It remembered those that the other corrupted killers had destroyed. Pikachu ignored Chuck Norris and the six survivors entering as it noticed something even more terrible.

In particular, the body of the hero Pit reenked with the smell of decay, but Pikachu still snuggled up to it as close as it could. Discharging electricity from its body, Pikachu tried to restart the hearts of its fallen friends, but the effort was in vain. Their bodies were as cold as stone.

Pikachu now turned to Chuck Norris, and slowly approached him. It spoke in a pleading voice.

“Pika-pi! Pika-pi…”

Chuck Norris, translating for the crew, explained the situation.

“Pikachu has regained its consciousness, but it is still corrupted with Phazon. It is so completely corrupted, in fact, that it is impossible to purge the Phazon from its body. Pikachu, realizing it has become an abomination, desires atonement for its deeds in death.”

The crew could not help but feel pity for the twisted, pathetic creature.

“I will grant it this last request.”

Chuck Norris stared at Pikachu once again. With the strength of his mind alone, he broke a single bone in the structure of Pikachu’s neck. The creature fell to the ground silently, dying a painless death.

“Let us return to the central chamber.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------

When the six survivors had returned with Chuck Norris to the main meeting chamber (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdpbqmWK6so) of the once-great GFS Olympus, they were weary, but relieved that the ordeal was finally over. But there was one question that was still bugging them. Blair Grey spoke up.

“So… you were Captain Falcon all along. But what happened to Admiral Dane?”

Chuck Norris gave them all his trademarked smile.

“I am Admiral Dane.”

“But that’s impossible! How can you be both Falcon and Dane at the same time?”

“Very well. Tell me when you have seen Captain Falcon and Admiral Dane in the same room.”

The crew members racked their brains, but could not remember any such occurrence.

“That’s right… Dane and Falcon always switched off during the lynch every day.”

“And they never showed up until the end, every time!”

“Then you will all agree that I am therefore the commander of both the IDFH and GF forces on this ship?”

The crew members nodded.

“Then here are my commands. Over the course of this conversation I have restored the ship to its original conditions. I have destroyed all of the Phazon in the Quarantine Bay. I trust now that you have seen the dangers of corruption, you will no longer attempt to exploit it for your own means."

The crew members continued to agree.

“It has long been my policy to avoid meddling in the affairs of mortals, but I made an exception here because I saw a chance to teach a lesson and make the universe a brighter place. Now that it is over, I will be returning to my own realm of existence to watch over the universe. Naturally, I will need to appoint successors or this ship will descend into anarchy again.”

The crew members awaited his words eagerly.

“Researcher Blair Grey… for your outstanding service in the name of the Galactic Federation, I confer on you the rank of Admiral.”

Grey stood and accepted the promotion, beaming. She was the only one left able to receive such a title.

“Vivian, for showing yourself to be capable of decisive action where necessary, I am appointing you as Commander of the IDFH forces in the Metroid dimension. Banjo and Kazooie, for your incredible intuition, you will serve jointly as Deputy Commander and Advisor to Vivian. You are to be considered Class-S Heroes.”

Banjo and Vivian proudly accepted their positions. Kazooie was slightly less dignified.

“What? Only a deputy? What’s the big idea?”

Chuck Norris turned to the remaining three survivors.

“Siegfried Schtauffen. Simon Belmont. Goombario. For outstanding perseverance, you are all awarded the rank of Class-A Hero.”

Chuck Norris now addressed the group as a whole.

“Here are your remaining tasks. The six of you are to see to it that Samus, Kirby, and Princess Peach all make a full recovery. Then you are to take this ship and use it to conquer the Space Pirate homeworld nearby. Without Meta-Ridley to lead them, they will be unable to mount a sufficient defense. Following that, the alliance between the GF and the IDFH shall be reforged. The GF will take control of this dimension, while the IDFH will send strike forces to reconquer the Banjo-Kazooie, Soulcalibur, and Castlevania dimensions. Is that clear?”

The six champions responded resoundingly.

“Yes, sir!”

“I am confident that you will all succeed. I must now return to my own realm. Be proud, for you have made this day a…”

my role pm -
Note: I never had an ability called 'Plasma Cannon'

Indeed you didn't. But the Fire Strike ability that you had was copied and became the townie version of that move - Plasma Cannon, the vigilante kill ability. So Winston was not lying.

I will be posting all of the role PMs and abilities and various other goodies later, so no need to post your own stuff. (These will be the final versions of each role PM, since that is all I have on hand due to the way I handled information.)

I'd also appreciate it if you all kept the spam images and videos to a minimum (Looking at you, Fluffy) from now on.

Wait, so I suggested to TinCow that diamondeye was beskar's source, and he got someone to block diamondeye, and that's why diamondeye got cleared for ages and ages and managed to put off his lynch for two excruciating rounds? Or was that a different night?

And TinCow, I completely forgot my code name and never even knew you were talking to me. Dropped all that stuff once I got killed and it was clear I wouldn't be recruited.

:laugh4:!

My thanks to Phazon for being courteous, that was very big of the team and of pevergreen, whose grudges I will never understand but always enjoying aggravating.

I am sorry I was not more active after death, as I believe it to be the responsibility of all players to have high participation so that everything functions as the host and game would expect.

Nonetheless, I was just a toad, and as useful as one, and I have decided from now on to be involved in only one game at a time, since three became a chore and quite boring since I was unable to keep updated with any of them and offer analysis or tallies.

Thank you very much Chaotix for your efforts in this series of games and for your unique and entertaining intrigues.

Bowser Corruption QT (http://www.quicktopic.com/45/H/MCZZUgcQ4dJ2)

Good game everyone. I was so sure of pevergreen being pikachu, I had absolutely no clue what happened when he went down without a sound. This explains it :laugh4:

Thanks for a good game, Chaotix. It sure was hard on the scum teams, but we both had a good fight to the end, so perhaps I am being overly critical. The giveaway when GE died wasn't too fair on us, though

I'll read the Phazon QT another time.

HAHAHAA!
I was just reading the Phazon QT, and I noticed what Chaotix had to say about me!
Chaotix, only a dedicated internet troll/ meme spreader would know that Chuck's signature move was a roundhouse kick.
Although in all fairness, I would have had Dane be norris, and Falcon be Mr.T.

As for the block, yes, that's what happened. As for the block saving DE for two rounds, I have no idea.

And TinCow, I completely forgot my code name and never even knew you were talking to me. Dropped all that stuff once I got killed and it was clear I wouldn't be recruited.

Oh, no worries. Unfortunately we couldn't win with the IDFH after Renata died anyway, so it was just one final attempt to help pever survive a bit longer.

I apologize profusely to everyone who tried to work with me. I set up such a great system and then made it all pointless with the failed gamble to save Renata. For the record, I would have pushed our team very strongly to go for a joint town victory even if a solo victory was possible, just because I love the divided town concept so much and want to encourage its use.

O RLY?

I'll challenge you on this.

Captain Falcon and Admiral Dane were never in the same place during a write-up.

Captain Falcon and Admiral Dane were both shown protecting people with the same force field ability in the write-ups.

With only slight variation, Falcon and Dane had the same speech pattern in every single lynch write-up.

It was mentioned several times in the write-ups that there were X number of players on board, but clearly X+1 characters alive.

Towards the end, I made a conscious effort to have both of them kill their enemies with roundhouse kicks- Chuck's signature attack.

And both characters have their own (admittedly obscure) line of Chuck Norris-esque meme jokes. And somewhat of a resemblance in terms of build.

So... was it unexpected? Yes. I intended it to be. Were the clues there for you to find them, throughout the whole game? Certainly. I didn't expect anyone to figure it out; I nearly died laughing when Fluffy of all people came as close as he did, with literally no other evidence except for "roundhouse kick". And he meant it as a joke.

-----------------------------------------------

On another note, I am writing up this massive thing of commentary that just keeps building up and I don't know where to end it. Expect that tonight.

Host Commentary

WARNING: Wall of text imminent.

I am making this up on the spot, so forgive me if it seems somewhat unpolished.

When I began developing this game, I wanted it to be something of a deconstruction of the last two Council of Villains games. It would have a similar feel to the last two, but definitely be different enough to make it seem unique. I think I managed to make it unique at least with respect to my other games. I have pretty much shamelessly lifted ideas from TinCow, Sigurd, and Askthepizzaguy, and for that they have my simultaneous apologies and admiration.

I knew from the beginning that this game had to be set in the Metroid dimension- the original CoV was (nominally) set in the Sonic dimension (which I like to call “Chaotix” :clown:) and The Koopa Troop was obviously in the Super Mario/Mushroom dimension. I had a small game in the Hyrule/Zelda dimension, and I’m planning another one for Pokemon. Not to mention ATPG got Lylat Wars in there too. So what’s the next biggest franchise? Metroid, of course.

The problem with Metroid is, there aren’t many villains with speaking roles. And there aren’t many heroes at all, besides Samus. I knew I would be using Samus under Bowser’s control, as per the ending of The Koopa Troop, and I would have to have Meta-Ridley if we were playing Metroid. But I needed an actual town for them to kill- while at the same time, it didn’t make sense for them to be out to kill the same people. At this point I looked to TinCow’s Rubicon and the divided town concept, and thought it would probably work perfectly.

So I came up with the setting right there. The IDFH is already established as of The Missing Link, but in the background and never really too important. Meta-Ridley is on the rise in the Metroid dimension, and since IDFH lost in The Koopa Troop they’re looking elsewhere. So in an alliance of convenience, all of a sudden the IDFH is working with Metroid’s Galactic Federation. I take a bunch of soldiers and bounty hunters for the GF, and a bunch of weaker heroes and sidekicks for the IDFH, to justify them all getting kicked around by Samus. And they’re all teaming up to beat Meta-Ridley and his Space Pirates. The IDFH knows something is up as soon as Samus gets on board unannounced, since they got the memo that Samus was supposedly killed by Bowser. But the GF love Samus and have no idea that she’s been turned to the dark side, so the dimmer ones among them will follow her to the ends of the earth.

Samus needs a counterpart. That’s Dark Samus, of course. She played a bit part in CoV, but was on the winning side in that game so technically she gets some new massive power. But how do I justify Dark Samus working with the IDFH? The GF has secret stores of Phazon on board that they purposefully neglect to tell IDFH about. The IDFH learns about it when Dark Samus busts down the door, and all of a sudden they see an opportunity- power to rival that of the villains. And to make Dark Samus seem even more friendly, she’s running around with a couple of heroes- corrupted, of course. So these short-sighted, weaker IDFH members will ally with a villain for the chance to take down other villains. Justification: Acceptable, IMO.

So, it’s Rubicon but in Metroid flavor. Instead of Caesar, Pompey, the Populares and whoever supported Pompey, you’ve got Samus, Dark Samus, GF, and IDFH. Meta-Ridley doesn’t fit into either category, so I make him a neutral serial killer and leave that for later.

And this is my deconstruction of Council of Villains. In the original game, the factions were for the most part very simple. There were the villains. There were the heroes. There were the antiheroes. And then there were a couple of classic villains-who-betray-other-villains. In The Koopa Troop, I deliberately made it more complicated and confusing. There were the villains as the town. There were still heroes as mafia. But then there were also *takes breath* villains who were taking control of heroes and other villains for the purposes of killing both the heroes and the villains (Dimentio and Fawful).

So with the new game, I intended to completely shatter any notions of heroes or villains. They became questions instead of definitions- what makes a hero? What makes a villain? The town would be composed of heroes this time- but they were not true heroes. From the start they would be fighting against heroes-turned-villains (Samus, Peach, Pikachu, Cloud). They could be corrupted forcibly into joining the villains. And in the end most of them were only out for their own survival, so they could win with the villains willingly as well. I even placed in a villain who could turn hero (Dedede) in one possible ending. It’s gray and grey morality, and it’s hard to tell who’s got the good cause any more.

That’s my bit on heroes and villains and crap. Back into game mechanics. I knew I wanted to have Metroid-esque power-ups. Sigurd and ATPG’s Star Wars powers seemed the right way to go, but that system was way too complicated for me to make from scratch. I settled on a simplified version that I think worked reasonably well. Fire, Lightning, Ice, Light, and Dark elemental attacks for the mafia. Defenses for each one, and then a Fire-Lightning-Ice combined defense and a Light-Dark combined defense if anyone ever got that far. 4 types of visor for investigation, similar to but different from the Force investigations, as well as a specific defense against investigations for maximum chaos potential. No Force Breath, because that really annoyed me, but night-kill defense instead, in the form of Energy Tanks. Then, three different townie abilities: the fire-based Plasma Cannon vigilante kill, the Ice Beam for roleblocking, and the electric Wave Grapple, which stole powers from other players. There were no light or dark based townie actions. Add in a Super Missile, a couple of unique character abilities, and the ability of Samus and Dark Samus to steal powers after killing- like a power-up gained from killing a boss.

As for how the powers were divided up: a select few started out with one power. They would then be given out randomly at the beginning of every night phase, for use by the next phase. The number of powers given out was proportional to how many players were alive: I divided by 5 and rounded up. Then I numbered a list and got that many numbers from random.org, and I used another random number for each to decide what the power was. Each mafioso and Chuck Norris had double the chance to get a power. Meta-Ridley had triple chances to compensate for his being alone with bad odds.

Later I had to tweak this when the mafia were getting wrecked. By this new system, the mafia were removed from the list and were guaranteed a power every night. I also had it set up so that if Meta-Ridley either died or completed his victory conditions and left the ship, there would be another serial killer to take his place. On the night after Meta-Ridley’s death, I randomly assigned the Omega Weapon ability to someone- and johnhughthom, the lucky winner, was transformed into a new serial killer, Gorea.

Of course, with this set-up, the split town would need a reason to tolerate being in the same room with each other and not deliberately be out to kill each other from the start. Ideally, that would be the mentality of many players, but there would be some who saw an advantage in killing ALL mafia. So there were a small number of incorruptible heroes. Through this, the concept of a leader for each faction who was a lynch director came to mind. Admiral Dane was obviously the GF leader. His IDFH counterpart I decided would be Captain Falcon, and then- I had a crazy thought. Both of these characters had been the subject of internet memes- namely, their names were placed in front of Chuck Norris jokes instead of the bearded wonder himself. So I decided, wouldn’t it be funny if Falcon and Dane were the same person the whole time – none other than Chuck Norris! If Chuck Norris was defeated and left the Olympus, the subordinates to Dane and Falcon- Link and Adam Malkovich- would take over. Both of these were also incorruptible heroes, but they were not unified. If they were killed, then there would be survivalists in charge of each faction, and things would have devolved very quickly from there.

I did figure out that it was kind of ridiculous to expect every basic townie to survive in order to win. So I found a way around that, my deliberate lie number one: survivalists were told they had to survive to win up until the point that they died. This would simulate them actually acting in the interests of their own safety, without condemning the majority of the players to lose the game. After every survivalist died, their victory conditions changed to the normal townie ones. When I had to make replacements, it got into a sketchy area, but I asked them not to reveal what they had learned.

For all intents and purposes, the mafia were very overpowered. At any given point in this game the only people with more than a 20% chance to resist a mafia attack were Chuck Norris and Link with his unique Mirror Shield. But their strength in this game relied on making good long-run decisions. They were told they had to kill the other family, yes, but they fell into the trap of trying to do it immediately at the outset of the game. The Phazon team was crippled by the Bowser team by a lucky N1 scan, and as a result there were less kills at night and pressure was taken off of the town. The town was able to sit back with lynches to spare, and a string of anti-town roles was exposed and killed so quickly that they had no incentive to factionalize. Had the game continued with 5 kills per night and both families continuing to recruit, this game would have had a VERY different outcome. The town would because of the death rate and would have been much more likely to align themselves with their respective mafia families instead of themselves. Then it would have ended in a late-game showdown between the two families and possibly even Meta-Ridley. This could have very easily been the true “divided town” that TinCow craved so much, but random chance and a couple of easy-to-make mistakes ensured that the town had the edge for the majority.

I have droned on for a very long time, but I think there are just two enigmatic roles left for me to go into, and then I’m done. Don’t quote me on that.

The first is Meta-Ridley. I wanted him to be a serial killer, but realized it would be way too difficult for him to compete with two recruiting cults and only one action per night. I didn’t want to give anyone more than one action per night, for simplicity’s sake. So I gave him options. He could be your classic serial killer, or he had the other option of killing two specific people and then jumping ship. The catch was that these specific people were the heads of the mafia families, Samus and Dark Samus. Not an easy task to be sure, but he started off with an action investigation ability when only the mafia and a select few townies had actions. Meta-Ridley had the advantage of essentially being able to lay low and unnoticed for the entire game (in the write-ups at least) until he decided he knew who he had to kill. Despite my warning in the opening write-up, nobody caught on that he existed in the game until his scaly mug appeared in a night-kill. If Meta-Ridley managed against all odds to kill both Samuses, he would get a major victory and get to leave the game right there. Or, he could go double or nothing and try to survive till the end for Total Victory. So yeah, you could say there are some similarities with Bane Anded right there.

And how fitting that ATPG should be randomly cast as the dragon! I was ecstatic, because not only would it ensure I had an interesting player to try my interesting dynamic, but it would probably be a challenge for ATPG, too. Because the best way to play Meta-Ridley, at least from my perspective, was not to play the supertownie, but to be sneaky and deceptive. Though Meta-Ridley started with an Energy Tank, it would be important to remember he was only a single lynch away from death. When ATPG appeared in both mafia quicktopics, I knew that he was definitely going high-risk, high-reward. If ATPG had realized they were the mafia before they realized he was Meta-Ridley, he would have had all of the reward. But again, they found him out and (this time rightly so) did not hesitate to reveal him to the town for the lynch.

The other role was King Dedede. If I had to compare him to something, I’d say he’s roughly analogous to the Cleopatra role in Rubicon (which I played… seeing a pattern here? :laugh4:). Basically he was the “true” survivalist. Dedede could win with anyone, provided he survived- the united town, Team Bowser, Team Phazon, or even Meta-Ridley if he went super-serial killer. The only player he couldn’t win with was Gorea, who was literally out to kill EVERYTHING.

And now I need to break that promise to talk about unique abilities. Samus, Dark Samus, Meta-Ridley, and Chuck Norris all had a unique 100% kill ability that they could randomly acquire- basically all the same but with different names. I later expanded this to Pikachu to give pevergreen a chance once he became the last man standing. Chuck Norris also had two more unique abilities. He started with Omniguard, which he could use to protect either himself or another player from anything except for said aforementioned 100% kills (this was the only protection ability in the game). The other was Chuck’s personal countermeasure against Corruption- Beard Control. Chuck used his own corruption to make people incorruptible townie heroes. In-game, landlubber got this ability very late, and only used it once: on Csargo. There were two more unique townie abilities: Link’s Mirror Shield, which defended against Fire, Ice, and Light, and Gandrayda’s Metamorph, which let her copy abilities without stealing them.

On the mafia side, there were the Varia and Phazon Suits that started on Samus and Dark Samus and were passed to subsequent leaders if necessary- this was the kill-ability-steal-ability. Each of them also had Corruption, which did NOT transfer to minions upon death. They could each only have up to two minions at a time, to keep them from creating an army on converts. Finally, one minion in each family had a unique ability. Cloud on Dark Samus’s side had Overdrive, which let him kill either a player who voted to lynch him or whoever killed him. This was much less subtle than Doopliss’s ability, but I’d argue just as useful, for the following reasons. On the chance Cloud gets lynched, tough luck. But if Cloud gets killed at night, then one way or another he is killing someone immediately dangerous to the family- a Samus minion, or Meta-Ridley, or Chuck Norris, or Gorea, or a vigilante. I will give the caveat that Doopliss’s Doppelganger ability is probably a lot cooler and more fun to use, if not more useful. Basically it let him manipulate his own role PM to suit his purposes; Diamondeye didn’t take nearly as much advantage of this as I thought he would. But at the same time, good for him, because he was victim to deliberate lie number two. Doopliss was told he had defense against ANY investigation, but in reality an X-Ray Visor would see straight through his cover role just like any other Mafioso. So theoretically Doopliss could think he was protected and invite a scan on him- only to find himself caught by his own trap. No townie ever got the X-Ray Visor, though, so it never happened.

And that is really all that I can think of right now. If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to ask. I know this commentary was rather large, but I know I missed something. I will post the role PMs tomorrow, as soon as I can figure out how to format it somewhat elegantly.

Hmm, changing mechanical make-up is never a good idea unless it is essential (ie: gamebreaking oversight). You should theoretically balance the game at the start barring random chance, and if random chance occurs, just live with it.

Guilty as charged.

I can't help myself when I rush to get the game done and started and then notice some things I wanted to change afterwards. It's my own fault for not having a set system for power-ups beyond "randomly given" at the start of the game. I had to quickly determine what exactly I meant when I said "random".

I did it in the original CoV, too, when I gave Sephiroth the option to become a Serial Killer after the mafia were all but wiped out.

My problem is probably that I've got these games set up with a high number of kills every night but at the same time don't want to see them end prematurely. I mean, Star Wars lasted what, 21 rounds? This was 12, and the last two were around the same length. The mafia have historically had a very hard time in my games. Both of those changes didn't change the overall outcome, they just prolonged the inevitability.

So bottom line- yeah, I consider myself a crappy game host when it comes to letting things just play out the way they're planned. And with having everything ready a decent enough time in advance.

EDIT: Also, thanks for all the kind words everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

Fun game. So... who started out as heroes, exactly?

By my count, there were:

18 IDFH Townies, 3 of which were Heroes at death
20 GF Townies, 5 of which were Heroes at death, and 2 of which were converted to the Deleter and Gorea
1 Chuck Norris
3 Phazon Mafia (2 with IDFH cover, and 1 with GF cover)
3 Bowser Mafia (2 with GF cover, and 1 with IDFH cover)
2 Neutrals, both an IDFH cover

If everyone but Csargo was a hero from the start, then the GF had one more hero to start off with. They also had 2 more actual town roles than the IDFH did. If you added up all the non-mafia roles, they both had 20, but two of the IDFH's roles were covers for Meta-Ridley and Dedede.

A bit asymmetrical there. I think you needed 19 of each, and one of Dedede and Meta-Ridley having a GF cover, and another IDFH hero. Unless I'm adding this up wrong.

Thanks, this is one thing I didn't cover in the commentary. I think your count is right, and it'll be easier to tell once I post the role PMs. Here is my explanation:

I knew people would be looking for symmetry to figure out who was who, and frankly it was easier to find IDFH roles than GF roles, so I made the two sides unbalanced and balanced at the same time. If you count up all of the cover roles, it comes out to 23 IDFH, 23 GF, and 1 Falcon/Dane/Norris abomination. When you get into actual roles, it is deliberately asymmetrical, but not so much that it would make a difference- only so that it throws off players like you, Choxorn (:clown:). After all the remaining players at the end were mostly IDFH!

There should be only 4 incorruptible heroes for each side, barring Chuck Norris, converted U-Mos, and the minion cover roles.

IDFH- Link, Ness, Amaterasu, Slippy Toad
GF- Adam Malkovich, Anthony Higgs, Madeline Bergman, Noxus

Otherwise I believe you are right on all counts, Choxorn. Good work!

Well, you caught me again. Ness was the role that Insanious had. In my records, he should have been the fourth IDFH Hero, but just rechecked and evidently I made a mistake in the role PM and made him a Survivalist.

Stop catching mistakes, Choxorn, you're making me look bad! :laugh4:

What was that stuff about classical getting revealed in the GE kill? I never saw any of that.

Like the csargo thing. But everyone knows better than to take that writeup stuff seriously.

Apparently not. But the worst part about it was that classical was our most important role since only he could recruit new members.

My defense of him may seem irrational, but I pondered for a long time if it was worth even standing up for him or just surrendering to the PIS of the update. In the end, I figured it was required of me to try and save my team's captain, which was why I was very vocal in-thread. As he was killed nonetheless and turned up Samus, this was basically what blew my (otherwise unpenetrable) cover and made a strong connection between me and him. I'm guessing that I could've skated on to the endgame if not for this episode, but Chaotix really sold out our team there. I knew it would come back and bite me eventually, and I was right. Especially you, Sasaki-san, you're always onto me!

Eh, by foreshadowing I meant I had no way of knowing that chuck norris even existed in this universe of nintendo/japanese game characters. Having Dane and captain falcon being the same person? Yeah that works. Having the same person being chuck? A real person? Not so much.

We are going to need a list of all the night actions so we can see what happened during the nights.

I agree, cowardly tactic.

If we had gone through with it, maybe. ATPG is a legitimate concern when you're mafia (I should know!). And this time he was out to kill us as his first priority.

LOL didn't even do anything and right off the bat, Samus team wants me dead.

YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESERVE!!! *shakes fist*

I agree with Pizza, but I would like to add another note. People who just target the best players in the game, only because they are 'good' are bad players. I always shake my head in disappointment when it always turns out people go "I know! lets roleblock/investigate/etc Pizza, Sasaki and Beskar!". If I am to do a night action, I do it with expressed reasoning. For example, Reenk was making out he had a good role, he wasn't one of the mafia, so he died. Similar thing happened with YLC. Sasaki was killed because we suspected TinCow's team was going to recruit him (which they were doing). These are pure gameplay reasons, you could swap the names with anyone from the player list, and insert them into that situation and it would be the same.

But where is the fun in it? You effectively ruining the game for a player who is investigated first round every game. Anyone who scans Pizza first round without a really good valid justification os being unsportmanship and a spoil-sport. Similar names are Sasaki, Myself and others who are constantly early game scanned.

I rather discover what Pizza is myself, have a battle of wits with him, then we duke it out. I managed to get Pizza's identity and got him singing to a tune for a while without any sort of night abilities and that is what Mafia should be about. Not abusing roles on the same couple of people because they are the 'best'.

Name something, and its been done to me.

I'm not consistantly targeted because I don't have the ability to sway the town's decisions. I can't make cases.

What I can do, and this game proves it, is be basically invisible. Sure I come up, but I'm never a threat, never a good lynch until right near the end.

Players like ATPG or Sasaki have the ability to reason out who is who. Thats dangerous. Is there something wrong with removing a known threat? No. But its not always a good idea to kill them. Then they are confirmed innocent.

Honour is flexible in mafia. Some play with it, some without it.

Reenk was making out he had a good role

That's how you took it? I was dead certain he was a survivalist after that gambit (and for some unknown reason, thought correctly IDFH). I'd never have killed him. He could have been so much fun.

As for people who get scanned too early too often ... TinCow, perhaps? :D

So hypothetical example, Pizza signs up to a game, then Khazaar signs up and they are both mafia. Pizza gets roleblocked, investigated, and what else, but as Khazaar doesn't pay attention to the game, no one bothers with him. Khazaar reaches the end then wins because of not contributing, while Pizza posted the most in thread and loses.

That some how sounds like a creation of a boring game, a game where no one talks except odd votes because the town/mafia killed everyone who contributes and are a good player.

As for people who get scanned too early too often ... TinCow, perhaps? :D

That scan had nothing to do with me, but once I heard Diamondeyes reasoning behind it, I wasn't impressed with it. Then again, I never really seen TinCow scanned or first rounded that often, because it is always usually ATPG, Sasaki and myself. On that note, he scanned Sasaki... so...

One frustration I had was being on the wrong time zone since most of the action happened when I was asleep so many critical decision that could have been made were not made in time and oten I would miss out in getting them only when I woke up, s the night I attacked Seon, I would have changed it to GE, but that did not work out and the rest is history. We had some bad luck and some good luck, so we can't properly complain about things.

I just love this quote from Beskar in out QT about me chatting to ATPG, while he was actively trying to kill me in the game.

Going to Pizza is like doing the deal with the Devil. You will lose.

I agree, Beskar. Profile-targetting can be very harsh on some people, and I often shy away from it as mafia (ie almost half of my games). But occassionally, you have to ascend above it. "He's Pizzaguy" is just a bad reason to leave him completely alone as it is to target him.

What might have been a determining move in this game, my first-night scan of TinCow, was done out of utter respect and because I consider TC one of the very best players; My main reason to scan him was to see if we could recruit him (sort of why TC scanned Sasaki as well, I guess). What followed was the extreme consequences of an unexpected and lucky result.

I'm currently reading the Phazon QT, and I must say I'm still impressed by TC's effective code system. I almost wished I had sent him a PM so I could figure out how to effectively disguise my coded posts. I love secret stuff like that!

Funnily enough, it doesn't. All it does is probably makes 1 person first round him, instead of 3. Giving a "grace" period of lets say.. 3 nights to Pizza, Sasaki, etc (unless it is really demanded from the game) would be fairer. Since it is to stop profile targeting and not legitimate targeting.

Askthepizzaguy

Meh, what I usually do if I have a night action and no reason to target anyone is to do it randomly on the first round.

If it hits someone like Tincow or Sasaki, those are the breaks. I'm not going to avoid targeting them just because they're them. That's the inverse and it's no more fair than doing it all the time. At the same time, I won't intentionally go after them right away just because they're who they are. But that's just how I play, and it's not the only way to play.

The worst thing that happens if I get targeted N1 every game by detectives/blockers/vig/mafia is that I'll get killed off early if I am townie; I won't be a suspect. Otherwise I'll be lynched right away because I'll be found out if I am guilty. So I'll just die early a lot; and then I'll just avoid games that are likely to have detectives in them. I hate detectives anyway. :tongue2: At least if I am a suspect I have a fighting chance at surviving for a bit.

It's a personal choice of how to play. If people want to target the usual suspects N1 in every game (I had a 7 or 8 game streak last year) that's their prerogative. Of course, if I happen to be a vigilante in one game and they should mysteriously vanish N1, that's my prerogative too. And then we'll both have tons of fun in games.

You're leaving a step out of it Beskar.

Lets say we all sign up to a game.

At game start, each player uses a new account to post in thread, eached named "mafia player x" x being a number from 1 - last player.

Obviously, without the names, the actions will be random. But once you can identify the people, their traits are the reason you target them.

If we take that further, and say that we don't know each other. Sure, you still can't target the person on purpose, but once you discover how they play, and how good they can be, then you are targetting them for a reason.

You're saying that they are being targetted for their name. They're being targetted for their potential.

Not saying it should be done, but there is hardly no reasoning for it.

As I told Beskar, an alliance with you guys was possible, but not when he wouldn't trust me with the truth. I broke pattern and tried to work with not one, but two mafia families in this game, and all I got was the cold shoulder from one and the denial, denial, denial from the other.

My main reason to scan him was to see if we could recruit him (sort of why TC scanned Sasaki as well, I guess).

Actually, I scanned Sasaki because I was trying to behave normally. I've only had an investigator role a couple times, and in one of those (Settlement) I scanned Sasaki early because I wanted to know I could trust his statements. So, I decided that the best consistency for me would be to do so again. I was targeting Sasaki in an attempt to make my strategy of hiding as a detective more believable, not because I wanted to know what he was. A fine line, sure, but that was my reasoning.

On a completely unrelated point, there was a couple of major balancing issues. It was very town heavy game. It seems to fall into the classic trap of "two teams of mafia? double the pro-town!". Two-teams of 3 mafia each is weaker than one team of 3 mafia, as the mafia are big threats against each other other.

pevergreen
01-30-2011, 16:36
That goes into the area of 'you cant balance it'

You can't predict 2 scum dieing within 3 days. Add the recruitment factor, late onset SK...

In a non-vanilla game, balance is a frame of mind.

I already addressed this; the main sticking point for me is that I repeatedly asked Beskar if he was indeed Samus mafia or knew Samus mafia, and he denied it and denied it, even when both of our necks were on the line. It took Winston's pressure to get him to reveal it to me, and then I knew he wasn't really working with me, but against me.

He then alluded to the idea of giving me Samus if I helped you guys out, but no deal, because if he couldn't trust me enough to say that in the first place, I can't trust him either.

I revealed my role and what I was all about; the same was not offered in return. I had to figure it out, and when I had to do that, the automatic reaction is to hit the flush button. That's why I can understand why Dark Samus team gave me the boot so early; once they realized I was gunning for Renata and lying to them it was a good move. Arguably a good move anyway, but it didn't turn out so well.

Why would it have been a good move to keep me alive? Dangle that carrot of giving me Samus, and I could have been quite useful in ridding you of the Dark Samus mafia, and I'm an extra kill and an extra vote. Push it towards the endgame, let me kill Samus, and then get the town to lynch me off, and boom. Samus victory. Plus you could have betrayed me along the way, which I can also respect. It's more fun anyway.

You saw what happened at the end of this game, with John and DE and pever all alive, none working together. If what few scums there are in a game with townie power roles aplenty don't stick together, you get this. Total disaster for all of them. That's why I playfully cursed you all upon my death, because there was no honor among villains here. We got what we deserved.

Hey, I readily admit I stepped in it with my intentionally silly tactics this game. I chose to play risky on purpose, because I just get bored otherwise. I even used investigations instead of kills to begin the game, when even I thought investigating was a waste of time. And revealing to the mafia that you're a serial killer is just asking for trouble. But then again, that's what I wanted. And I got it.

As you've seen, I'm the type who tries to work with someone, even at great risk to myself. I did it in the Bridge Zhou Far game when it was clear the mafia families needed to team up against the town, because we were getting brutalized. We made it all the way to the end together, where we would have fought it out amongst ourselves. The idea being, if some of us die along the way by the town's own hand, that determines who wins.

If the town can't pick us out after allying all game, those are the breaks, and then the SK is at a disadvantage anyway because there's only one of him and more of you. The alliance, from my perspective, is much more beneficial for the mafia than it is for the SK. It's like an additional member, and you avoid getting hit by my random shots. The only way I really win under normal SK rules is if town gets lucky and lynches you off or investigates you to death, and I actually have a shot at going solo for the win; the odds are against that.

But duly noted; I'll be sure to let you dangle at the end of a noose if my options are to kill you off or work with you. :laugh4: I can just as easily work with the town, even if the odds of victory are more negligible with them.

If I were pever or DE at the end here, I'd likely have reached out to JHT and tried to work with him. If he kills me off immediately or reveals me to the town, I don't even have to try to bring him down, he's known and he's the final villain to be lynched, so he dooms himself with such a move. It might have been possible to wipe out a bunch more townies, bring the game to closer finish, maybe even win outright.

This kind of reminds me of Time Cube, where me and RR worked together but had to end eachother, only there, mutual betratal would bring about certain loss. He might or might not doom himself, but he dooms me and my team. No revealing to a killer of any sort when I'm the last mafia.

Besides, I had a pretty good read on JHT. I knew he was going to attack me when he did and hoped it could fuel his lynch since I knew I would survive due to the Energy Tank. That could have bought me some time... Then he died right away

I have no complaints about game balance. The scum lost because they hit each other hard early on. The town only got it's act together in the second half of the game. Had the first half seen less scum fratricide, the town would have had a far harder time getting organized later on. I would happily play this same game again with the same balance, as I think the outcome was due to the way events played out, not the inherent balance of the game itself.

I'd say the game was pretty balanced, it's just that the mafia had bad luck and focused too much on trying to take each other out. As for investigators, the Thermal scan was useful to the townies, yes, but I don't think the mafia can say they had it tough when they are the only ones that scan through cover roles.

Outlines for Alternate Endings

Another great idea I have stolen from ATPG. :clown:

This is what would have happened if the game turned out differently.

Hero Victory but Chuck Norris is defeated:

Victory Theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdpbqmWK6so)
The GF and the IDFH defeat all of the killers, but without Chuck Norris to unify them, they are still distrustful of each other. The GFS Olympus is unable to conquer the Space Pirate homeworld, the alliance is shattered, and the IDFH withdraws from the Metroid dimension entirely. The IDFH is able to concentrate on other dimensions and the GF eventually subdues the Space Pirates, but there is no unified force powerful enough to oppose the villains and their doomsday machines. The crew of the GFS Olympus has remained a Council of Villains in the end, living up to the title of the game.

Bowser Victory with GF Survivors:

Victory Theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdpbqmWK6so)
Bowser’s forces take complete control of the GFS Olympus. Dark Samus and her Phazon are completely destroyed, as is the IDFH crew. If Samus and Peach have been defeated, they are re-corrupted by surviving Bowser team members. Samus declares herself Admiral and if there are any surviving GF forces, they swear loyalty to her. Samus proceeds to conquer the Space Pirate homeworld and returns to Federation space as a hero, where she quickly becomes something analogous to a dictator supported by the people. The Galactic Federation becomes another puppet state in Bowser’s great empire, and the IDFH is forced to abandon the Metroid dimension.

Phazon Victory with IDFH Survivors:

Victory Theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFOqGV-6bck)
Dark Samus’s Phazon-corrupted warriors take complete control of the GFS Olympus. If she was killed, her minions revive her with the Phazon Suit in the Quarantine Bay. Samus, Peach, and Kirby are corrupted by the Phazon and the rest of her team is killed. If there are any surviving IDFH forces, Dark Samus reveals herself to them, and when they try to negotiate with her she corrupts them all. Using her new army of corrupted heroes and the massive vault of Phazon in the Quarantine Bay, she conquers and corrupts the entire Space Pirate homeworld as well. Dark Samus’s horde is now a force to be reckoned with, and it pushes the Galactic Federation to the verge of collapse, while the IDFH is pushed out of the Metroid dimension entirely.

Major Meta-Ridley Victory:

Meta-Ridley is able to kill both Samus and Dark Samus personally, and satisfied with that he leaves the GFS Olympus before the trial ends. No matter who winds up winning out of the remaining players, Meta-Ridley has had time to return to the Space Pirate homeworld and fortify it so that when the GFS Olympus arrives, they are unable to conquer it. Meta-Ridley and the Space Pirates remain a major force in the Metroid dimension.

Total Meta-Ridley Victory:

Victory Theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf7O2xeQ7cc)
Meta-Ridley kills everyone on board the GFS Olympus, and Samus and Dark Samus are dead. Only King Dedede has the potential to survive, and in that case he joins forces with Meta-Ridley. Meta-Ridley takes the GFS Olympus as his own flagship and brings it to the Space Pirate Homeworld, where he assembles a massive fleet. The Space Pirates overwhelm the Galactic Federation and crush them entirely. The IDFH is forced out of the Metroid Dimension. Meta-Ridley now has a Space Pirate Empire that rivals that of Bowser or Eggman.

Gorea Victory:

Victory Theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzLCJqzDHdo)
Gorea kills everyone on board the GFS Olympus. Then, in a final act of rage, it destroys the spaceship itself. Gorea condenses itself back into the form of the Omega Cannon and drifts in space until it finds a settled planet (probably the Space Pirate homeworld), waiting for someone to discover it again. Then it corrupts its wielder and repeats the process until it is known by legend as the Omega Weapon, the scourge of all sentient life.

Dedede’s Personal Victory:

Dedede wins with whatever factions are still left alive at the end. If it’s the heroes, he meets up with Kirby again and decides to join the IDFH, becoming the first villain to switch sides and become a hero (as opposed to the many heroes who have already become villains- Luigi, Samus, Pikachu, etc.). If it’s Samus, then he becomes a strong ally of Bowser. If it’s Dark Samus, he is corrupted and joins the horde. If it’s Meta-Ridley, he becomes an ally of the Space Pirates. He cannot win with Gorea because Gorea is out to destroy everything.

Next up will be the ability list, followed by the roles, and finally a list of night actions if that's what you guys want.

Notes:
-Neutron Shield could only be acquired once a player had Heat Guard, Hazard Shield, and Ice Guard.
-Photon Shield could only be acquired once a player had Reflective Armor and Shadow Shield.
-X-Ray Visor could only be acquired once a player had Scan Visor, Thermal Visor, and Combat Visor.
-Wave Grapple and Metamorph could not steal/copy unique abilities.
-If a mafia kill ability was stolen by Wave Grapple or Metamorph, it would show up as the town counterpart to that ability. Light Strike and Dark Strike could not be stolen.
-Combat Visor would only reveal the abilities present in the cover role of the character targeted.
-In case you're wondering, it annoyed me to no end that Photobucket would not resize the Energy Tank, Ice Beam, and Visor images to my standardized 200x200 pixels.

Meta-Ridley: Askthepizzaguy

Meta-Ridley

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Meta-Ridley.jpg

You are Meta-Ridley, the evil space dragon and leader of the Space Pirates. You are the arch-nemesis of Samus.

Your sources have told you that both Samus and Dark Samus were planning on infiltrating the GFS Olympus, where a bunch of heroes and GF bounty hunters were stationed. You’re not sure why, but you don’t really care. You are an angry space dragon, and both of the Samus twins have pissed you off immensely. You broke into the GFS Olympus yourself, and are determined to tear both of them to shreds.

Your alignment is Space Pirate. (Serial Killer)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Kill both Samus and Dark Samus personally.
Secondary: If you fail to kill either Samus, you can still win, but instead you must kill everyone on board the ship and be the last one standing.

Defensive Abilities

Hazard Shield: Defend against electricity-based attacks.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/MetroidSymbol-4.jpg
Energy Tank: Can survive one night attack.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/EnergyTank.jpg

Offensive Abilities

Fire Strike: Kill with a fire-based attack.

Thermal Visor: Investigate a target’s actions at night.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/ThermalVisor.gif

Of course, as a giant space dragon, you kind of stand out when compared with everyone else. So you ambushed an IDFH hero on board, and are now wearing his skin. Here is your cover role:

Dragonite

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Dragonite.png

You are Dragonite, an unusually intelligent Dragon/Flying type Pokemon, and a member of the IDFH.

You were chosen out of all the Dragonite in the Pokemon Dimension to be part of the IDFH because of your incredible intelligence and capability for sentient thought. You can’t speak to well, but you make do by projecting your thoughts into other heroes’ minds. But usually, you let your fire breath do the talking.

Your alignment is IDFH. (Survivalist)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces and survive.
Secondary: You are a brave warrior, but not ready to throw your life away. You can ally with Dark Samus and help her fight both Samus and the GF, if you think that will save your own skin.

Defensive Abilities:
Hazard Shield: Defend against electricity-based attacks.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/MetroidSymbol-4.jpg

Offensive Abilities:
None

King Dedede: Jarema

King Dedede

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/KingDedede.jpg

You are King Dedede, the King of Dreamland and the nemesis of the now-dead Kirby and Meta-Knight.

In fact, it’s kind of boring in Dreamland without those two, so you’re off on a journey trying to figure out how to bring them back. You’re not the sharpest tool in the shed, though; you have absolutely no idea how that’s going to happen. Somehow, you wound up on this ship, and now you’re just trying to survive.

Your alignment is Dedede. (Neutral)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Survive at all costs. You can win with any faction, so long as you survive.
Secondary: None

Defensive Abilities:
Energy Tank: Can survive one night attack.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/EnergyTank.jpg
Shadow Shield: Defend against darkness-based attacks.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/MetroidSymbol-5-1.jpg

Offensive Abilities:
Plasma Cannon: Vigilante kill with a fire-based attack.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/PlasmaBeam.jpg

Of course, you will be recognized as a villain by anyone else on board, so you have to keep your identity secret. To that end, you brought a costume of one of your sort-of-good minions, a Waddle Dee. Here is your cover role:

Waddle Dee

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/WaddleDee.gif

You are a Waddle Dee, the most basic of enemies in the Kirby dimension.

In fact, you are so basic, and so easy to kill, that the IDFH doesn’t really consider you evil any more. You are allowed to serve as a helper in the IDFH and get decent pay and benefits. You’re not really the brightest, so you’ll just continue to… well, waddle around and help out.

Your alignment is Hero. (Town)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces.
Secondary: None

Defensive Abilities:
Shadow Shield: Defend against darkness-based attacks.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/MetroidSymbol-5-1.jpg

Offensive Abilities:
None

Samus: classical_hero

Samus

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Samus.jpg

You are Samus Aran, the bounty hunter and hero.

However, this time you are not the hero. You have been corrupted by the power of Bowser’s Plot Device Star, and you now serve his will unconditionally. You have been tasked with completely destroying the IDFH battalion that is traveling on the GFS Olympus, and to that end you have brought a team of Bowser’s finest with you to get the job done. And if they die in your service, you can always corrupt the less willful souls on board to do your bidding. Should you fall to the heroes, your team may carry on, but they will lose the power of Corruption.

One more thing- there’s word that Dark Samus is also on board. Don’t pass up the chance to kill her, too.

Your alignment is Bowser. (Mafia)

Your allies are Shadow Peach (Beskar) and Doopliss (Diamondeye).

The Team Bowser quicktopic is here: http://www.quicktopic.com/45/H/MCZZUgcQ4dJ2

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Kill everyone on board the vessel.
Secondary: You may deem it too difficult to destroy everyone on board. If that is the case, the GF likely does not realize Samus is corrupted. Provided Samus is alive and you destroy both the IDFH and Dark Samus, you can ally with the GF to win.

Defensive Abilities:
Heat Guard: Defend against fire-based attacks.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/MetroidSymbol-2.jpg
Reflective Armor: Defend against light-based attacks.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/MetroidSymbol-3.jpg

Corruption: Convert a Survivalist player to your control. (Maximum of 2)
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/Corruption.jpg

You can’t possibly reveal yourself to the crew, or you will be overwhelmed. You have taken up a disguise as one of the bounty hunters hired by the GF. Here is your cover role:

Ghor

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Ghor.png

You are Ghor, a cyborg bounty hunter hired by the GF.

You used to be a real organic creature, but in a massive battle everything but your brain and spinal cord were rendered unusable. Being a master at manipulating technology, you built yourself a robotic body and a powered armor suit, and you are now an even more effective bounty hunter. It’s no wonder the GF hired you.

Your alignment is GF. (Survivalist)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces and survive.
Secondary: You are a brave warrior, but not ready to throw your life away. You can ally with Samus and help her fight both Dark Samus and the IDFH, if you think that will save your own skin.

Defensive Abilities:
Heat Guard: Defend against fire-based attacks.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/MetroidSymbol-2.jpg
Reflective Armor: Defend against light-based attacks.

Offensive Abilities:
None

Shadow Peach: Beskar

Shadow Peach

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/ShadowPeach.jpg

You are the lovely Princess Peach… except you’re not so much lovely as deadly, now.

After Bowser defeated all of the intruders in his castle, he made you simultaneously his wife and his mind-slave, deciding he preferred it when you were turned into your dark form. Now he has sent you, with the newly corrupted Samus, to destroy the IDFH battalion stationed on the GFS Olympus. Samus also wants you to kill Dark Samus, who is also on board and causing trouble.

Your alignment is Bowser. (Mafia)

Your allies are Samus (classical_hero) and Doopliss (Diamondeye).

The Team Bowser quicktopic is here: http://www.quicktopic.com/45/H/MCZZUgcQ4dJ2

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Kill everyone on board the vessel.
Secondary: You may deem it too difficult to destroy everyone on board. If that is the case, the GF likely does not realize Samus is corrupted. Provided Samus is alive and you destroy both the IDFH and Dark Samus, you can ally with the GF to win.

Defensive Abilities:
None

Offensive Abilities:
Fire Strike: Kill with a fire-based attack.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/PlasmaBeam.jpg
Ice Strike: Kill with an ice-based attack.
https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/IceBeam.png

Of course, you are immediately recognizable to everyone on board, so you had to disguise yourself. You have possessed the body of one of the IDFH heroes on board.

Jill Valentine

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/JillValentine.jpg

You are Jill Valentine, a hero and survivor of the Resident Evil dimension.

You are well-trained in dealing with survival/horror situations, and it looks like you’re in luck, because that’s what you’re dealing with here. Except this time, instead of zombies, it’s intelligent hunters wearing impenetrable power suits. Perhaps you could be in for a more difficult time than usual. But you know that the problem won’t be stopped until every single corrupted individual is neutralized.

Your alignment is Hero. (Town)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces.
Secondary: None

Defensive Abilities:
None

Offensive Abilities:
None

Doopliss: Diamondeye

Doopliss

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Doopliss.jpg

You are Doopliss, the jokester Duplighost and member of Bowser’s special forces.

Due to your unique ability to steal the body of any individual, Bowser thought you might be useful in assisting Samus with her mission to destroy the IDFH heroes on the GFS Olympus. And Bowser would be right about that, for once. Your job is to help the newly corrupted Samus kill the heroes and Dark Samus.

Your alignment is Bowser. (Mafia)

Your allies are Samus (classical_hero) and Shadow Peach (Beskar).

The Team Bowser quicktopic is here: http://www.quicktopic.com/45/H/MCZZUgcQ4dJ2

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Kill everyone on board the vessel.
Secondary: You may deem it too difficult to destroy everyone on board. If that is the case, the GF likely does not realize Samus is corrupted. Provided Samus is alive and you destroy both the IDFH and Dark Samus, you can ally with the GF to win.

Defensive Abilities:
Varia Suit: Allows capture of ability for every player killed.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/MetroidSymbol-5-1.jpg
Doppelganger: Allows you to manipulate the results of investigations on you.

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Powerups/X-RayVisor.gif

To start off, you’ve stolen the body of a GF soldier. Whenever anyone investigates you, the information contained in this cover role will show up, but you may change this to reflect whatever you want them to see- as many abilities as you want, whatever alignment you want, and whatever identity you want, provided you know the identities of other characters on board. You have, in effect, the perfect disguise!

GF Demolition Trooper

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/DemolitionTrooper.png

You are a Demolition Trooper serving on board the GFS Olympus.

Your unit was attacked in their quarters and you are one of the few that escaped and survived! You know that what you are dealing with here are some very dangerous hunters. But while you may seem like a grunt, you can hold your own in a firefight- you’ve had to take down Space Pirates on many occasions. You know that the carnage won’t stop until every enemy is gone.

Your alignment is Hero. (Town)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces.
Secondary: None

Dark Samus: Renata

Dark Samus

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/DarkSamus.jpg

You are Dark Samus, the result of the fusion of the Metroid Prime, Samus’s Phazon Suit, and pieces of her DNA as well.

Since then, you have made a few enemies, Samus Aran and the Galactic Federation among them. After gaining incredible power from the Council of Villains, your ability to corrupt beings with Phazon is enhanced. In fact, you are now composed of pure Phazon yourself. You’ve corrupted two IDFH heroes who were sent out on a mission in deep space, and have returned to destroy the GFS Olympus and everyone on it- as well as absorb their massive Phazon storage unit. Should they die, you can corrupt some of the more susceptible souls on board as well. If you die, they will continue to carry out your bidding, but they will not have the power of Corruption to assist them.

Oh, and Samus appears to be here as well. Time for some revenge!

Your alignment is Phazon. (Mafia)

Your allies are Corrupted Pikachu (pevergreen) and Corrupted Cloud (TinCow).

The Team Phazon quicktopic is here: http://www.quicktopic.com/45/H/kdMtTHAFTLE

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Kill everyone on board the vessel.
Secondary: You may deem it too difficult to destroy everyone on board. If that is the case, the IDFH likely does not know of the Phazon tanks on board, and does not need an enemy where not necessary. Provided Dark Samus is alive and you destroy both the GF and Samus, you can ally with the IDFH to win.

Defensive Abilities:
Phazon Suit: Allows capture of ability for every player killed.

You can’t expect the GF to let you just waltz in on board. Normally this wouldn’t faze you, but Samus is here as well, so a little discretion is required. You have taken on the form of an IDFH hero. Here is your cover role:

Travis Touchdown

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/TravisTouchdown.jpg

You are Travis Touchdown, the world’s number 11 assassin, and now part of the IDFH, too.

You may not be the most well-known hero around, but you’ve got a pretty cool prototype lightsaber that could just be useful for hacking powered armor to pieces. And you’ve got a cat. A fat cat. But you left her at your house in Santa Destroy, so you’re on your own this time.

Corrupted Pikachu: pevergreen

Corrupted Pikachu

You used to be a Pikachu, but you’re not really sure they can call you that anymore.

That’s because you’ve been overloaded with radioactive Phazon and corrupted to serve the will of Dark Samus. Alongside Dark Samus, you’ve infiltrated the GFS Olympus and plan to steal their store of Phazon energy for her- right after you kill everyone on board, that is. And Dark Samus has also noticed her nemesis, Samus, is on board. You should kill her, too. They will learn to fear the wrath of Pikachu!

The heroes have certainly noticed you went missing and were not on this ship before the attack. Therefore, you needed to take a disguise in order to remain hidden- that of a GF bounty hunter. Here is your cover role:

Kanden

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Kanden.jpg

You are Kanden, a bounty hunter with some electrifying tendencies.

You’re also psychotic and hate the Galactic Federation. That said, you know a good job when you see one. The GF pardons you and pays you handsomely in return for getting to kill people? Sold. The presence of intruders on board only makes this job more interesting; you keep waiting for the day you get to make them scream as they are electrocuted by your hand, and you don’t even care if you die in the process.

Your alignment is Hero. (Town)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces.

Corrupted Cloud: TinCow

Corrupted Cloud

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/CloudStrife-1.jpg

You are Cloud Strife, the guy with the spiky hair and the big sword.

Or, at least, that’s what you used to be until Dark Samus corrupted you with Phazon and bent you to her will. You followed her here to help her absorb the massive amounts of Phazon stored on the GFS Olympus. Oh, and to kill all the GF Marines on board, too. You can help with that.

Your alignment is Phazon. (Mafia)

Your allies are Dark Samus (Renata) and Corrupted Pikachu (pevergreen).

The Team Phazon quicktopic is here: http://www.quicktopic.com/45/H/kdMtTHAFTLE

The heroes know that you were missing in action before the ship was attacked, so if they somehow missed your glowing blue skin, they would still think something was off if they saw you. To that end, you have taken on the guise of another hero on board. Here is your cover role:

Isaac

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Isaac.jpg

You are Isaac, the hero of the Golden Sun dimension, and a powerful Venus Adept.

Which means, mostly, you can move rocks and make plants grow and stuff. Unfortunately for you, there aren’t too many rocks or plants on this fine space-faring vessel. Well, you’re still pretty good with a sword. What could possibly go wrong? An attack by highly skilled hunters with future technology, you say? Nothing you can’t handle. The good guys always win!

landlubber is another big one, but after that it should be smooth sailing.

Chuck Norris: landlubber

Chuck Norris

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/ChuckNorris.jpg

You are Chuck Norris. Yep, you heard me right. This ain’t no joke.

You are the deity of justice that the heroes of the world pray to every time $%!# gets real. You are omnipresent everywhere, but have decided to make yourself more present on the GFS Olympus, because that’s where things seem to be happening. Of course, you could send the whole ship into a tailspin by flicking it with your left earlobe, but you’d rather have a little fun, first. You’ve decided to side with the heroes of the vessel- not the IDFH, the real heroes- those who will not stop until all the bad guys are brought to justice.

The people on this ship are divided. There’s the IDFH and the GF, and while both are allied, they’d just as soon betray the others to save their own skin. So you have manifested yourself in two mortal forms: Captain Falcon AND Admiral Dane. They are both you, and you are both of them, but nobody else knows that. And you must not tell them, either. So this means you are the lynch controller every day- you get to decide what happens during a tie. Being both of the town leaders will allow you to bring them closer together. If things get really bad, you will gain the ability to force the cowards to stand and fight, but right now you’d rather keep your hands off.

Captain Falcon

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/CaptainFalcon.jpg

You are Captain Falcon, the master F-Zero racer and hardcore bounty hunter.

You’re pretty awesome. You can make fire come out of your fists. One time, you accidentally a whole planet. It was memeworthy. And now, you are the leader of the IDFH forces on board the GFS Olympus. You know that the majority of the IDFH heroes do not trust the GF forces, but you realize that unless you accidentally the whole spaceship, there’s no way you can beat both Samus and Dark Samus without their help. You are the lynch director on even-numbered days, and can decide the outcome of any tie lynches then.

Your alignment is Hero. (Town)

Admiral Dane

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/AdmiralDane.jpg

You are Fleet Admiral Castor Dane, the commanding officer on board the GFS Olympus.

Which means, you command all of the GF forces on board- bounty hunters and marines- and they will listen to your advice. You also have a pretty nice hat. You know that the majority of the GF forces do not trust the IDFH one bit, as they are foreigners and interlopers on this ship. After saving Hyrule from Ganondorf’s Seal of Time, it was basically safe, so you had really nothing to do all day. Being that you were a Class S Hero of the IDFH, you decided they could probably use some of your help. You were assigned here as Captain Falcon’s second-in-command. Well, as long as you leave out the part about being an expert, that’s mostly correct. You’re still trying to master the technique of doing a Barrel Roll. But right now, you don’t have to worry about piloting anything, really, because you’re on a big spaceship that doesn’t belong to you. Knuckles the Echidna

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/KnucklestheEchidna.jpg

You are Knuckles the Echidna. You’re both a friend and rival of Sonic.

It was Sonic who convinced you to join the IDFH, just as it is Sonic who usually convinces you to do most things besides sit outside the Master Emerald and protect it. This time, you don’t have a Master Emerald to protect, you have a whole ship. And you’re pretty good at protecting things, as longs as it involves breaking and smashing them… wait a minute.

Goombario

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Goombario.jpg

You are Goombario, a young Goomba and good friend of Mario.

You’ve also got a pretty cool hat, and it conceals your hard head underneath, which you use to fight people. Because, well, you have no arms. You know everything there is to know about Bowser’s minions, so you joined the IDFH, hoping you could be helpful to them. You also heard about Mario’s death at the hands of Bowser, so you’re hungering for some revenge.

Your alignment is IDFH. (Survivalist)

Diddy Kong

You are Diddy Kong, the crazy monkey and good friend of Donkey Kong.

Well, you were a good friend of Donkey Kong, before he was killed in Bowser’s Castle! Now you want revenge on Bowser, and the perfect way to do that is to join the IDFH. Somehow, you wound up on this ship, but your chance has come. Bowser has sent his minions along with Samus to take over the GFS Olympus, but you can stop them. And after that, the road is open to taking down Bowser.

Your alignment is IDFH. (Survivalist)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces and survive.

Amaterasu

You are Amaterasu, the White Wolf and the sun god of the faraway land of Nippon.

You decided to join the IDFH because Nippon was overrun by the terrible eight-headed dragon Orochi, and he became too powerful for you to defeat him. You were hoping that the IDFH would help you immediately, but apparently they have different priorities. Nevertheless, you cannot abide evil anywhere, so you will do your best to rid this ship of it.

Ness: Insanious

Ness

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Ness.jpg

You are Ness, a little kid who wears his baseball cap sideways.

Well, that’s what you appear to be on the surface. In fact, you’ve got psychic powers that you often use to save the world. And you have a baseball bat, too. And a yo-yo. Unfortunately for you, though, an insane alien named Giygas attacked your home dimension, so you were forced to go to the IDFH for help. You need to survive this ordeal to get the IDFH’s help, though.

Simon Belmont

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/SimonBelmont.gif

You are Simon Belmont, the famous whip-cracking vampire slayer from the Castlevania dimension.

That is, you were, until Dracula invaded again, and this time with too much power for you to handle. You went to the IDFH for help and offered to fight for them in return. So far the deal has been rather one-sided and the IDFH has other priorities. And now this business with corrupted hunters? You just need to make it out of here alive.

Barrett

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Barrett.jpg

You are Barrett, a friend and ally of Cloud Strife, from the Final Fantasy dimension.

You’re pretty awesome. I mean, you’ve got a freaking machine gun for an arm. How could that not be awesome? But everything is not so awesome on this ship. There are supposedly some deadly bounty hunters wearing powered armor waiting to kill everybody during the night, and you don’t want to take any chances. Plus, your friend Cloud? He went missing a couple months ago. All is not well on the GFS Olympus.

Professor E. Gadd

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/ProfessorEGadd.jpg

You are Professor Elvin Gadd, an authority on all things supernatural and ghostly.

What you’re dealing with here is definitely supernatural, but you’re pretty sure they’re not ghosts. You’re with the IDFH, but you’re usually a non-combatant, considering you have no real fighting skills. You are a terrific inventor, but you would need tools and time to build anything here, and you have neither at the moment. Perhaps you will find something to do soon. For now, your greatest concern is survival.

Roll Casket: God Emperor

Roll Casket

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/RollCasket.jpg

You are Roll Casket, one of Mega Man’s best friends.

But right now, Mega Man is busy fighting Dr. Wily’s newest robotic creations in your home dimension- and he is building them at an alarming rate. You joined up with the IDFH in the hopes of getting some help, but so far you haven’t had a whole lot of luck with that. You’re a mechanical genius, but not really much of a fighter, so you’re in great danger being on this ship. Your primary goal right now is just to stay alive.

Siegfried Schtauffen

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/SiegfriedSchtauffen.jpg

You are Siegfried Schtauffen, a hero of the Soulcalibur dimension.

You have a sword and armor made out of shimmering, shining crystal, so under normal conditions you’d think you were pretty tough. However, you’re also dealing with a society that is about 500 years more advanced the one you came from , so then again maybe not. You’re still sure that your holy sword, Soul Calibur, can penetrate anyone’s armor, though- even those corrupted hunters who are after you.

You are Sora, the hero of the Kingdom Hearts dimension.

You’re a pretty cool guy. You run around with Disney characters like Donald Duck and Goofy, have a sword shaped like a key, and you use it to beat up people who are mean and heartless. Yeah, nothing could possible stop you, especially not a deadly bounty hunter out to kill anyone on this ship. Or two of them. Actually, you should probably fear for your own safety.

Banjo and Kazooie

You are Banjo the honey-bear, always accompanied by your feathered friend Kazooie.

Together, you are the heroes of your own dimension, the aptly-named Banjo-Kazooie dimension. However, all is not well on your home world, for Gruntilda the witch returned with some incredible new power and conquered the whole place. You joined the IDFH in the hopes of obtaining some sort of help, but so far they haven’t done anything about your dimension and seem much more concerned about this one. Right now, you’re just trying to survive.

You are Pit, the hero of the Kid Icarus dimension, and captain of the Goddess Palutena’s guard.

Which means, you’re an angel. How adorable! Besides not wearing pants, your skills include archery, flying, and whining in an annoying voice, and everyone loves you for it. To the best of your ability, you’re trying to help out the IDFH, in memory of your greatest mentors, Mario and Kirby, who were slain by villains. Of course, you do like to live, too, and you’d rather not take a huge risk on your own life.

Your alignment is IDFH. (Survivalist)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces and survive.

Master Chief

You are Master Chief, the hero of the Halo Dimension.

In that dimension, you were pretty much the toughest guy around and known as the last hope of mankind. You’ve got the training of a Spartan, stand at about 7 feet tall, and on top of that are wearing a powered armor suit. Usually you would strike a pretty imposing figure, but apparently in this dimension 7 foot tall people in powered armor are rather commonplace, as you’ve seen several already. Not to mention at least one of them is out to kill you. Well, you need to show her whose armor is best.

Your alignment is IDFH. (Survivalist)

Victory Conditions:

You are Commander Shepard, the hero of the Mass Effect dimension.

You’re pretty impressed with this dimension, since it seems to be just about as technologically advanced as yours is. They may not have developed psychic powers yet, but your dimension sure doesn’t have handheld beam cannons either. Even though you’re known as the last hope for humanity in your dimension, the IDFH is apparently full of people like that, so you don’t stand out too much here. And those hunters seem formidable- you may wind up fighting for your life. Will you be a Paragon or a Renegade?

Your alignment is IDFH. (Survivalist)

You are Rundas, a bounty hunter who is as cool as ice.

You’re generally on good terms with the GF, and they regularly hire you for missions that are too specialized for them to do themselves. This mission was supposed to be business as usual, but it has quickly become something much more. Both Samus and Dark Samus are on board, and both seem to be out for blood- your personal safety is greatly jeopardized. You know that Dark Samus must be stopped, but you can’t fathom why Samus would attack as well.

Your alignment is GF. (Survivalist)

Victory Conditions:

Gandrayda: Winston Hughes

Gandrayda

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Gandrayda.jpg

You are Gandrayda, a bounty hunter with the ability to shapeshift.

For this reason, the GF often hires you for stealth missions, as you can easily slip behind Space Pirate lines. This mission, however, is not a stealth mission, and it is quickly falling out of the control of the GF. You know from personal experience that both Samus and Dark Samus are a force to be reckoned with. Usually, Samus is a little more reasonable, though, so you find it odd she would be attacking the Olympus. Whatever the case is, what the GF is paying you is not enough to die for.

When you found the legendary weapon Omega Cannon on board the ship, you found that infused within it was the essence of the destructive being Gorea, who was sealed away along with the weapon. Now it has consumed your entire being, and your body belongs to it. Feed Gorea with more destruction!

Your alignment is Gorea. (Serial Killer)

Of course, you can’t really waltz around the Olympus in this form now. You will revert to your original form while you are not killing and destroying, in order to remain free of suspicion.

Spire

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/Spire.png

You are Spire, a bounty hunter with rock-hard willpower.

Literally. You are actually a sentient stone-like being, and are the last of your race. The GF has no idea what to think of you, but apparently they can’t mind you too much if you’ve been hired for this mission. You thought they might have wanted to see if you can withstand Samus’ missiles, but on second thought they probably didn’t expect her to be here. Whatever the case, you’d prefer not to be killed.

You are Weavel, a cyborg bounty hunter and former Space Pirate.

Which makes you wonder why the Galactic Federation, sworn enemies of the Space Pirates, would ever hire you for a mission. Apparently they thought it was pretty important, because they offered you amnesty and a ton of cash to do it. And this ship was headed to attack a Space Pirate homeworld. If they actually thought you would keep your word… well, it doesn’t matter now, because Samus and Dark Samus are here, and the Olympus isn’t going anywhere. You may have to fight for your life.

Your alignment is GF. (Survivalist)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces and survive.

You are Noxus, a bounty hunter with a chilling disposition.

You are one of the highly advanced Vozon race, who are better in every single way than the pathetic humans running the Galactic Federation. You made sure that you let them know that when they hired you for this mission. You can see that neither the GF nor the IDFH are real heroes in this conflict; either one would sell out the other to survive. You will take the morally correct path. Both Samus and Dark Samus must be stopped.

You are Trace, a ruthless bounty hunter and sniper.

You have never been on good terms with the GF, so you are surprised that they hired you for this mission. Your warrior race has been fighting the GF ever since they first made contact. Evidently they really need all the help they can get, because they’re offering you amnesty and money and all sort of benefits. That said, whatever they want, you’re not going to risk your life for the fools. You may be stuck on this ship of death, but you have no plans to die.

Your alignment is GF. (Survivalist)

Victory Conditions:

You are Sylux, a bounty hunter and murderer.

In fact, under normal circumstances GF troopers are ordered to shoot you on sight. You’re not sure why they’ve had the sudden change of heart- they’ve hired you and offered you amnesty for your past crimes, in addition to a large sum of money if you complete the mission. Well, your heart hasn’t changed. You aren’t even sure if you have a heart. You’ll work for them now, but there’s no way you’ll risk your life for these fools.

Adam Malkovich: Frozen in Ice

Adam Malkovich (Commander)

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/AdamMalkovich.png

You are Adam Malkovich, the Commander of the 07th Platoon.

That said, you are not running this ship, and you defer to Admiral Dane for orders. The 07th Platoon, which is on the GFS Olympus, looks to you as their direct leader. At one time, even Samus Aran looked to you as a mentor. You are not sure what is going on just yet, but you know that both Samus and Dark Samus must be stopped, and you will need to work together with the IDFH to do it. The ship can’t afford to be divided at this time.

Your alignment is Hero. (Town)

Victory Conditions:
Primary: Defeat all anti-town forces
Secondary: None

Defensive Abilities:

Maurice Favreau (Engineer)

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/MauriceFavreau.jpg

You are Maurice Favreau, the 07th Platoon’s Engineer.

You have a wide knowledge of all things electronic, and combat training to boot. You may not have fancy abilities or weapons like these IDFH guys or the bounty hunters, but you’re well trained and you can hold your own in a firefight. You do have some nice armor, after all. That said, you’re not going to die for the GF. Sure, Dark Samus needs to be stopped, but you like living, too.

You have been corrupted by Samus! You are now known only as “The Deleter”.

Samus’s power has placed you completely under her control. You are now part of her mission: to destroy the heroes and capture the GFS Olympus for the glory of Bowser’s empire. The power of Corruption has also endowed with enhanced strength, speed, and reflexes, and a few abilities besides. You will stop at nothing to help Samus achieve her goals.

Your allies are Samus (classical_hero) and Doopliss (Diamondeye).

The Team Bowser quicktopic is here: http://www.quicktopic.com/45/H/MCZZUgcQ4dJ2

Your alignment is Bowser. (Mafia)

James Pierce (Communications Expert)

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/JamesPierce.png

You are James Pierce, the Communications Expert for the 07th Platoon.

On the outside, you are a loyal member of the GF, but everyone has their secrets on this ship. Your secret: you were known as the “Deleter”, an assassin working for the GF to remove troopers who accidentally became aware of highly sensitive information. Your orders have always come directly from High Command, so Admiral Dane would not even know about them. For this trip, you are to act just as a normal soldier.

K. G. Misawa

You are K. G. Misawa, the 07th Platoon’s Recon Scout.

This means you have some stellar combat and stealth training. You may not have any fancy guns like the bounty hunters, or special powers like the IDFH, but can certainly sit in the shadows and pick off your targets one by one. Of course, you can also sit in the shadows and not be killed by Dark Samus, and that suits you just about as well. You’d rather not die on this ship.

Dr. Madeline Bergman: Skooma Addict

Dr. Madeline Bergman

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/MadelineBergman.png

You are Madeline Bergman, a GF scientist with a PhD in robotics and cybernetics.

You know what most other GF soldiers and scientists don’t. You know that the GF is building a lab designed to create bioweapons to defeat its enemies. You know that there is a massive storage room filled with Phazon on board the GFS Olympus, which was probably being developed into new weapons. It’s probably the reason both Samus and Dark Samus are here. You imagine that the IDFH has a few dark secrets as well. And the conclusion you came to is that both Samus and Dark Samus need to be stopped; otherwise there is no hope for anyone’s survival.

Your alignment is Hero. (Town)

Anthony Higgs (Point Man)

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/AnthonyHiggs.png

You are Anthony Higgs, classified as the “Point Man” for the 07th Platoon.

It’s easy to see why. With a massive machine gun and incredible physical strength, you’re a decent match for any of the bounty hunters or IDFH fighters on this ship. You’re also more than just brawn. You knew Samus Aran personally before this mission, and were good friends with her. You know something is wrong if she is missing, and supposedly attacking the ship. You know that in order for this mission to succeed, both Samus and Dark Samus must be stopped. You would gladly give your life if it meant you could save the rest of these people.

You are Lyle Smithsonian, the 07th Platoon’s Special Operations Soldier.

Which means that you’re trained to be able to survive just about any combat situation. This is certainly not your ordinary combat situation, but you’re not terribly worried. You may not have fancy weapons or abilities, but you know how to fight. You’re also confident that, due to your training, you’ll be able to survive the situation somehow- whether that means following the original plan or not. You’re not about to roll over and die just because someone needs a martyr.

You are prepared to do what is necessary.

Aurora Unit 242

https://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww93/Chaotix2732/A%20State%20of%20Corruption/AuroraUnit242.png

You are Aurora Unit 242, an organic supercomputer that serves as an AI and advisor to Admiral Dane.

You are in charge of most of the functions of the GFS Olympus that do not have to be done manually, and are connected directly to the mainframe of the entire system. This has both advantages and disadvantages. You are able to scan any being on this ship, for instance. However, you are also vulnerable to viruses and other data-corrupting processes. You don’t care much what happens to the IDFH; your programming says you must stay running through any means necessary.

Your alignment is GF. (Survivalist)

You are a GF PED Marine, and a survivor of the attack by Dark Samus on the medical wing of the GFS Olympus.

PED is short for “Phazon Enhancement Device”. Essentially, you have a weapon that you can charge up with radioactive Phazon energy whenever you need to- the same stuff that Dark Samus is supposed to made out of, in fact. You’re not sure if the Phazon has any effect on you personally. You survived one attack, and you’re hoping to survive the rest. Try your best not to die out there

You are the Galactic Federation Quarantine Officer.

In short, you the one on board this ship who is charge of making sure that secret things stay secret, or “quarantined”. You are taking direct orders from higher powers than Admiral Dane. Currently, in the Quarantine Bay are several tons of raw Phazon ore which is being used to develop new and devastating weapons for the Galactic Federation. Additionally in the Quarantine Bay, with all that radioactive material, is anybody who managed to figure out that it’s down there. You recognize that Dark Samus is probably here for that Phazon. Anyone else, you could care less about.

You are U-Mos, the Luminoth Sentinel.

You were asked by the Galactic Federation to accompany them on this mission and provide them with your wisdom. Being that your home planet was ravaged by Phazon, you are something of an expert on Phazon corruption. You know already that Dark Samus is composed almost entirely of Phazon. At the same time, you can tell that Samus, who saved your planet, is not using Phazon at all. Thus, you deem Dark Samus to be the only real threat to the GF and the galaxy.

A powerful force now dominates your mind, compelling you to be a hero and sacrifice all for the greater good if necessary.

I've just read the Phazon QuickTopic, and I have to say that I'm amazed that not only did TC/Renata completely misread me, but there were townspeople who thought along the same lines and it completely baffles me as to why.

As you can see, I was completely vanilla despite the utter awesomeness of my character... so why was there such a "high probability" that I was Beskar's confidante and why did I "have to die"? I'm still struggling to really join up the dots, I just don't see the reasoning behind it and I feel that now the game's over, maybe I can finally get some closure over the whole thing.

That goes into the area of 'you cant balance it'

You can't predict 2 scum dieing within 3 days. Add the recruitment factor, late onset SK...

In a non-vanilla game, balance is a frame of mind.

Agreed. The only thing I really object to is more a matter of taste: when mafia, I HATE being provided with cover roles that are in some way flawed. I feel like if they're given, they should be solid ones, not punishments for being forced to claim.

It wasn't a matter of reading you, per se, it was just that the only way for Beskar to be legit was if someone had been certain enough of his towniness to tell him an investigation result so early. You're literally the only person around who has ever claimed to have that kind of judgment on him, in any game, ever. It was you or no one.

As it turned out, it was no one.

I think I'm going to wind up changing this in the future. Weak cover roles were a significant factor in some of the mafia dying.

I always hate having to rationalize Townie A being a cover for Mafia B when they look nothing alike, but it's definitely the right way to go, rather than them being dead giveaways.

Renata

There was also ability steal/copy. Then a normal scan could reveal captain falcon (who would be seen as a pro-town), but would pick up on suspicious cover-roles.

And roleblock, and activity scan (which got me), and the serial killers, and vigilantes. Plenty of ways to trip us up, most of which were successful at some point or other.

Thank you. As someone (I think it was ATPG) pointed out, there's in general no reason the mafia have to USE a flawed cover role that they know is flawed ... except when the writeups use the real covers, making lying every bit as bad an option as telling the truth. In a game where that's not the case, it's not quite as big a deal.

Well, I think that my statement was largely down to naivete, as it's very rare these days that Beskar reveals his role to me and I don't find myself raising an eyebrow, even when he does turn out to be town-aligned; as it happens, I had felt there was something 'off' about his Jill Valentine claim to me (I think it was the manner in which he'd said "I have no abilities"), but I had no idea he was mafia until after I was killed and he told me about killing Reenk/Sasaki.

I guess looking scummy all the time is a good element of his playstyle! :P

Looking at the mafia QT's, I really wonder why you guys killed me. Pever looks like he killed me at random. I'm not mad at the Phazon team for killing me just after I died in Earthling's CFC game, since none of them were in that. I'm a bit annoyed at the Bowser mafia, though- you guys should have known about all my recent deaths. And I can't even figure out why you killed me- you seemed like you were trying to target scanners around that time, but I had no abilities and never indicated that I did have any. So... why exactly did you kill me?

You have to keep in mind as well that I was bluffing when I said that only the mafia had X-Ray Visor. I was pretty sure the mafia DID have that ability, but I actually did think it was likely there was at least one pro-town role that started with that ability as well. So, in my mind I had to weigh the idea of Beskar being contacted by a true pro-town role as well as by a mafia partner. It didn't matter to us which one it was, because we wanted the investigator dead regardless, but both options were on the table for us. You'll notice we also wanted to go after Diamondeye that night (via an IDFH block) due to Sasaki's feelings on his public statements. So, we were really just trying to maximize the possibility of killing or disabling the investigator immediately.

So, we were really just trying to maximize the possibility of killing or disabling the investigator immediately.

It was a play of WIFOM. Because surely, no mafia would ever reveal themselves on Day 2 as it would be suicide and it was pretty much working. What was my downfall was when the mysterious sudden round extension, then when that happened, I knew I was a goner and just had to fight for survival. It would have worked but the whole "Plasma Cannon" thing make ATPG go crazy thinking I was Samus (because that sounds like a Samus weapon), hence why he attacked me at night. Though on a positive note, my death meant pever lived longer.

As for my later message, the numbers were a code in phone-number format. The idea was, I was going to reveal the pro-town targets to you, so pever knew who to watch out for. But as you said, you didn't really trust me on that.

Basically, I wanted to say something about each of the remaining players. When I got to you and I think Nictel, I couldn't actually remember anything you'd done. :laugh4:
If autolycus hadn't blocked me, I so regret not using ice guard that night, I would have killed you.

I just think it was because you were a replacement. I can't really find it. I'm sorry you were in a hi-death period, but I really had no idea. We just picked out targets.

No, the one that *hasn't opened yet* is Mewtwo's revenge (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?107558-Requests-to-Host-Games&p=2053257420&viewfull=1#post2053257420). But I am glad I contributed to this classic.... :bounce:
