Hehe....The old bootsiuv is dead....I am his replacement....mwahaahwahahwhahhaha. :dizzy2:
I was getting sick of wearing that heavy ass helmet 24/7 anyways. I mean, honestly, what kind of tavern keeper refuses to take off his battle helmet even when he's behind the bar?
In a tavermn like this where brawls start every odd post, I'd say a smart one...

Remnants of my .8x Sabyn Campaign....the first general that I've ever had 3 gold chevrons in EB before he croaked.

He also has no armor/arms upgrades, so they could have potentially 23/33. That's a badass mofo.
Wouldn't want to meet one of them behind the bar. :laugh4:
Anyone else want to show off a really good unit? I figured this is a good place for it. What's the highest unit stats you've ever had on an infantry unit?

Heh, I went all the way to my dad's house, downloaded EB, burned it to a disc, checked the disc....aaaah. I now have EB 1.0, or so I thought.
I get home and walk into my house, and I look down at the disc, and there is a big crack running all the way across it.
I must have broke it somehow. I was carrying some other stuff, but I've never broken a CD/DVD before....I'll have to be more careful. :embarassed:

Good day gentlemen,
says this middle-aged figure in roccoco white coat and feathered tricorne. I have just wandered in this ancient tavern from battlefields of seven years long and napoleonic wars and I like what I see. Please, have next round of your favorite drink on me. I am, afterall, a marshal of kaiserin Maria-Theresa.
**
I only recently revisited TW series and voila... EB has gone gold. Now I must rely on questionable strenght of will to not (too much) neglect my wife and kids. I was so far interested more in military history (especialy uniformology) of seven years war and napoleonics, but EB begin to spark some interest in ancients too.
I am 32 yers old male Czech, lawyer working for our ministry of Truth, err justice. Married and father of two.
And I like vaginas probably too much :beam:

Excuse my dumbness, but what is a G8 class? I know the G8 meeting (heiligendamm and the police, rofl), but a G8 class, no way
The bavarian government in its eternal wisdom recently changed the years in Gymnasium from 9 to 8. So, situation in 2009 (?): twice as many graduates - for the same amount of jobs and university places.
Basileus Seleukeia
10-19-2007, 18:47
The G8 meeting had nothing to do with the G8 we're talking about. It's very confusing, but what the heck, we have to live with it. The G8 is a system where the gymnasium only has 8 years, not 9, like it is currently (G9) That G8 meeting was a meeting of several nations where they did talk about globalisation, I think. Not very sure, but I think that was the reason why there were demonstrations, because the meeting was held only by powerful and rich nations, so that the poorer ones had no chance to have a word.
Edit: Ah, I'm just talking too much, so "Bayrischer Barbar" was faster. C'est la vie :laugh4:
[...]so that the poorer ones had no chance to have a word.
Also true for the G8 school thingy :laugh2:

A short story:
Korinthios family values.
Me have a Kypros governor, an ugly Akylos Posedonios, a Korinthios. This was the first Korinthios in the family and after I've seen his son Karpos Posedonios starting characteristics I knew I don't want anymore of this kind in my family.
So I bought Karpos a yacht and sent him to Gibraltar straits. Off we go, lad.
Long and dangerous was young Karpos voyage. He somehow managed to survive numerous engagements with pirates and was very close to see the atlantic blue.
At the same time while he was at sea his own marriage celebration takes place at Kypros! My guess is old dirty Akylos became suspicious of me plans for his brethren either the old b....r had some plans of his own for that young thirteen years old girl Metis. Oh poor little innocent child! While her dull/uncharismatic/languorous and not suspecting a thing young husband was overseas, she's got pregnant and gave birth to Keteus, another promising Korinthios youngling.
I believe Karpos to receive the news via carthage mail bireme, cause he went completely psycho and made a suicidal attack on AS Huge Polyreme near Baleares.
As I report you of his nasty tricks, Akylos Posedonios is 63 years old and continues to successfully govern the island of Kypros. I just can't dispose of him, cause he's a brilliant manager. His son's fifteen years old widow and his "grandson" live in Akylos palace.
I say, Beware of those Korinthios scum! Don't approve of their marriage proposals to your daughters or adopt them!
Now I'm in desperate need to get drunk and wash away this embarrassing story...
It has been quiet in here lately, I think I'll a nice relaxing pint of Cobra.
I know why it's so quiet, you've still got that crappy comedian on. GET HIM OFF!!! :tomato: :tomato: :tomato:

why, are you liberal? :whip:
Well, usually I refuse to start a political discussion, because its more dangerous than a field of mines in ex-yugoslawia, but we can give it a try this time.
I wouldnt describe myself as liberal, nor as conservative. My family is not very wealthy, but significant wealthier than most other people around here (father is a teacher, mother a social worker - both work in a school and finished university, of course). So you see both are somewhat educated, and this offers of course the option to have some serious talks with them, all in all Im pretty well educated.
Of course I see the world from a different angle than, say, you americans. But the nationality hasnt that much to do with the political ideology IMO.
To get back to the topic: Yes I am more left than right, but not THAT liberal. Unfortunately I dunno the english word for it, but in german I would call myself "Bürgerlich-Liberal" oder "Gebildete Mittelschicht". Maybe you can get a translation somewhere.
Basically I think "Do what you want, as long as it is the right thing". Well, the "right thing" depends mostly on your opinion, but here some examples what I think:
War in Iraq - bad, cause it was a big fraud
War in Afghanistan - right, even if the "coalition forces" havent captured osama yet, but it really helped the people there (at least in the german north, where the army build things instead of destroying them)
Reactors for the Iran - good, as long as they dont build some stupid bombs. Besides this no one can forbid them to build reactors, its their god-given right to do so.
Occupation of Palestine - bad. Ok, this is really a political minefield, but if the jews say, palestine is theirs because its written in the Tora, then what about the armenians and all other people who were deported from their ancestral lands?
Marriage between gays - good, as long as they dont annoy me. Its their live, and its also their god-given right to love whoever they want.
I can make this list last another two sites of this thread, but this should be already enough to provoke a nice flame war - PLEASE dont flame arround like "omgz kampfkrebs haets teh jews!!11 omgz evil nazi!!11"
Just have a nice clean and FAIR talk about politics in any meaningful way. I would be happy if you would join me
And now a nice cold Aquavit, please!
Horst Nordfink
10-23-2007, 21:47
I would say I was definitely a liberal. I don't understand why some people regard the word liberal as something that is dirty.
In my opinion, people can do whatever the hell they like, providing it doesn't harm anyone else! And I don't think anyone has the right to tell anyone they can't do something because they don't like it.
I will give my views on Kampfkrebs examples:-
War in Iraq - Farce!! No country has the right to interfere in anothers affairs, especially not the US!
War in Afghanistan - Probably just. It's thunder has been stolen by the War for Oil.
Reactors in Iran - Iran should be able to do whatever the hell they like. Nuclear power is the cleanest viable alternative to gas and oil, and every country should at least attempt to implement it.
Occupation of Palestine - Implementation is very very bad. I think after what the Jews suffered at the hands of Hitler, they are justified in wanting a safe and secure homeland. I also think that the Israelis should share the country. I think that Jews and Muslims can live peacefully alongside each other, just as Catholics and Protestants and starting to do in Northern Ireland.
Gay marriages - Fine. Gays are fun!
and to fan the flames even more than my honourable German friend......
Abortion - Fine. It's your body. Providing it's not too late in the stages, women should be able to do whatever they like with their bodies.
I'm an Anarchist. I truly believe people would be better off without a government telling them what to do. If they just repected each other and had social values... That'd be the world... I should've born in ten thousand years time (if mankind hasn't destroied itself by then)...
I think liberal is the way to go

Hello, gents!
I'm a 59-year old former professional soldier and former Philosophy professor. I live in the northern part of Illinois, about 70 miles away from Chicago (where I grew up). I'm also a certified theatrical combat director. Been a busy life, and my bones feel it!
(Barkeep, I'll have a cold Miller Lite. Draft, if you've got it!)
Some of you might know me from that other place that must not be named. you know, the Total War Center.
Hey! Easy with that mug, fella!
Anyway, I go by the same username, other there, and have about 3600 posts. I'd have more, if I did like most people do. You know what I mean ... Two sentences with 5 words in each is a post ...
Hey, Kampfkrebs. I've looked all through the Bible, and I can't find that passage about Iran having a god-given right to nuclear power. Can you give me chapter and verse? :croc:
I decided to play EB 1.0 about two weeks after it came out. Except for one little CTD that I got figured out, the gameplay is seamless and great. By the way, you can tell I'm a conservative ... I've never played anything but Rome, with RTW, or any mod.
I'll shut up now, before that mug gets warm. In the States, we like 'em cold!

Allright, I'll give it a shot. :)
I'm 19 years old and live in the northern part of Norway.
I'm a part of the Sami people.
Not going into details here, but to keep it simple... We are a indigenous people spread out around Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia.
In my spare time I play a bit of RTW, with EB of course. :)
Not to mention this little hobby thing with history.
I'm also an active snowboarder, but my shoulder has a tendency of dislocating itself all the time (auch). :(
Just got kicked out of the military, so not much to do at the moment (not going into details here either). But I did my share of bitching, and again my shoulder got a fair deal of beating. :)
At the moment I'm trying to get a job, and next year I'm planning to start studying Psychology in the university (it's going to be tough I know).
Besides this I'm one of the good old forum lurkers who came out of hiding.
Now I'm going to reach for a beer!

Oh noes....as an American I will refrain from touching the above posts too much, so my tavern doesn't go up in flames in the ensuing carnage.
Iraq = lies by the American Government to the American people at a time when we were especially vulnerable to such things.
Afganistan = good, overall, although I really wish the U.S. would just pull out from the rest of the world, and simply say if you screw with us than we'll screw with you (a prospect few countries would relish, regardless how they feel about America).
Palestine should be left to the Palestinians.
I don't see why the U.S. has any less of a right to intervene than other countries, nor do I see why they have any more of a right, for that matter.
This is a topic akin to a powder keg though, so keep debates civil, and don't get my tavern shut down i.e. my thread locked please.

Bartender gimme a cold one!
About the flame war:
I'm a social - democrat, and proud of it.
About my views on the hot topics:
War in Iraq - as bad as it could get. It's starting to look like the second Vietnam for the US. I don't think that any country has the right to interfere with another country's business. Let's be honest, the real purpose of this war was the Iraqi oil, not the freedom of the Iraqi people. Unfortunately , my country also has send troops there, and i'm not proud for that.
War in Afghanistan - the reason and the outcome was just-those talibans were the worst thing for that country or any country for that matter.
The Palestine-this is a delicate subject. The israelis deserve a country of their own, as do the palestinians.
Iran nuclear reactors-if the US, has them why shouldn't the iran's people have it too? If they don't use them to produce weapons of mass destruction, then there is no problem.
Gay marriages-i don't care. They should do what they want as long as they don't bother me.
Abortion-should be legalised in every country, because even if it's illegal it would still be performed, and with greater consequences for the health of them women. In my country, during the communist era it was illegal, but allot of young women died because they aborted without the help of proper assistance.
Ok. I see that my glass is empty, and the bartender doesn't seem to be willing to fill it up again so i'll take my leave.
I salute you ladies, and gents.

I absolutely adore political arguments, but not when there are Americans involved!
Mostly because they find themselves the center of all disputes, become flustered and start making outrageous remarks which uncover how oblivious to the world they are in the greatest truth.
Comparable to ancient Rome only by their incessant love of Eagles, the innocent, complaining, paranoid nature of the citizens and an inevitable future downfall after their civil war.
As for the war in Iraq!
Well, I could scar the Earth with as great a scorn as anybody here, but I shall in a sentence give you the direction of it all and the main interest!
Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and the other unprovoked nations of Mesopotamia are but stepping stones on the global path to China.
It is dreadfully amazing how I, like many others here, spewed forth such an outburst without barely blinking.
So now I shall retreat to other discussions, before I am peppered with 5.56mm NATO !

The bible is an entertaining piece of science-fiction, nothing more and nothing less.
To clear things up: I am christian, lutheranian (as many germans since luther was actually german :laugh4: ) and I believe in god or at least some kind of a "higher might" (no not the NSA or the CIA or the Mossad).
Its nothing more than idiotic to rely on a 2000 (or as the jews 4000) year old book which was written in a time as people killed their daughters because they hadnt enough foot for them.
I know that your comment is meant as somewhat sarcastic (at least I hope so), but nevertheless the Iran has a right to build whatever they want.
I dont see why everyone freaks out because the Iran/former Iraq/whatever is going to build nuclear reactors, or even A-bombs. Do you think a rocket from the other side of the world could hit your nice tiny ranch somewhere in the west of the USA and kill all of your beloved bulls/cows/pigs?
A country like the Iran or north Korea hasnt got the ability to do so, nor are they dumb enough to do so. They know that - at least the world police USA - would burn their homes, rape their wifes/childrens and occupy their country if they would launch a bomb. And I think its more fun for ahmadinedschad to turture his people rather than kill israel.

you know that french video of the IDF killing a palestinian child? well, its already been proven its fake! whether you like it or not, the palestinians killed him, while making it seem as the IDF killed him! furthurmore, the bullets found in him were AK-47 bullets! the IDF doesnt use the AK-47, IIRC. basically, there is a watchdog group which investigates media bias against israel, and they sued- and won- against this french news media, and they have to release the full video!!!

I've no problem with the existence of Israel, at all! I just think that they should share Palestine with the Palestinians, after all, it is their country too.
Whether Sharon intended to start the second intifada or not, his actions were seen to be directly linked to it. Personnaly, I think certain Palestinian factions were looking for a reason, and his visit was reason enough in their minds.
A criticism of Israel is not necessarily anti-semitism surely?! Unless there is specific anti-jewish remarks made, a criticism of Israel is no more racist than a criticism of the US or Britain. Not all problems with Israel are racially motivated.
I hope I have expressed my thoughts on the matter in a rational and broad manner. We are all friends here, and there was no intention to offend anyone.

Anywhoos
@Glenn
I am rather surprised by your comments. Being anti-american gov't is fine IMO....being anti-american is racist and akin to bigotry. I am quite surprised by such comments coming from someone as obviously well-educated as yourself....and an Aussie no less!!
Even our greatest friends think ill of us....let it be known that many Americans are as anti-American Gov as you are.
As far as I'm concerned, the machine that is the american government is gargantuan, far beyond any one american to control, or 1 million for that matter....do not judge all americans by the actions of a few oil hungry despots who used our own tragedy to blind us to the truth!!
We are not all bad people, believe it or not....I seek peace with my neighbors, and only wish to raise my children and my crops i.e. go to work and live my life, like any other human being.
The problem is that the world automatically looks to America for leadership, and when that leadership falters, billions lose faith....
EDIT: The reason for my surprise....
I absolutely adore political arguments, but not when there are Americans involved!
Mostly because they find themselves the center of all disputes, become flustered and start making outrageous remarks which uncover how oblivious to the world they are in the greatest truth.
As I myself have been unintentionally guilty of in the past, generalizations and stereotypes are not appreciated. For someone learned in the works of Aristotle and Socrates, I can't help but wonder at the overall lack of reasoning in those statements. I am American....have you ever found me to be 'oblivious to the world' as you so eloquently stated?
Please, before you speak of America, come and visit us for a week or two....if you still feel a generalization of Americans is in order, at least you'll have some experience from which to draw your rather narrow-minded views.
I, however, am the type of person to easily forget such things, so I do hope a minor squabble will not turn you off of our succession game, as I've found your posts in the council thread by far the most entertaining.

@Bootsiuv: Glenn was merely being cynical. And critisced a couple of Americans for being oblivious to whatever whoever else may be thinking...

"I absolutely adore political arguments, but not when there are Americans involved!
Mostly because they find themselves the center of all disputes, become flustered and start making outrageous remarks which uncover how oblivious to the world they are in the greatest truth."
Though that's a fault of more than just them Americans. ~;)
Even though I must say that 5 mins of Fox News can turn out to be your monthly fix of obnoxious oblivious, ignorance.... Especially when it's cited. You know there's a debate in the States about abortion, so they invariably go about and tell something about Dutch law. Well, not about Dutch law obviously. More about imaginative "facts" which support a view opposing that of the Dutch law. The latter is merely an example: whatever they do not like gets twisted much enough to fit their own ideas.
Now who's bouncer?
Bootsiuv
10-24-2007, 16:24
I disagree....the generalization of americans is getting old IMO. How someone can sum up, in a few words, a country of 300+ million, of all ethnic make-ups and backgrounds, is beyond me, quite frankly.
I am well aware of how many non-americans feel (extended time in the mudpit has opened my eyes to just how many people don't like me, simply because I was born in Michigan.), and many of those feelings are justified. Many americans are oblivious, many couldn't point out Iraq on a map, but I can. I am American.
Someone so educated should know how to get their point across without offending an American, if his only intent is to be cynical and make a passing statement.
Bootsiuv
EDIT: And for the record, I was 'just being cynical' a few months ago, when I accidentally (no, really)generalized all Europeans, mostly because of a small ommission of the word 'some', and it was quickly made known to me (by our beloved Bovi, no less) that generalizations are not appreciated, nor are they the best thing to do on an international forum.
I quickly apologized for my blunder, and I feel we're friends at least, if not great chums (although, few EB team members seem to grace us with their presence these days, taking a well deserved rest no doubt). So, why is it any different when it goes the other way?
I and Glenn are friends, we talk on X-Fire, and we will continue to do so, as I am not one to hold a grudge, and he's a nice guy. That's why I said I was surprised by his comments. He obviously has friends who are American, the tavern-keeper stated he was American 2-3 posts above his.
I'm just saying that a certain degree of tact should be employed when speaking on an international forum, that being the reason why I hardly touched non-american problems at all, who am I to say what the best course of action is for a place half a world away, regardless how much information I have on the subject?

Heck, I'm even in a band, which is called Alesia, after the city in...you know =P
Besides that, I'm the typical outcast in my family who everyone loves...wait, is that even typical? Yeah, I'm the long-haired type of scum.

I'm against the war in Iraq, no problems with gay-marriage and fairly democratic. Besides that, I'm quite anti-American government and globalisation (is that even correct English? It is an unconscious thing that has led me to speak of America as a whole.
This has developed from agruments with other American countrymen in the past, when, in reply to however I would criticise their government or state, they would generalise the world around them.
Several - Hundred, of often dangerously aggressive arguments I have had where I have given very reasonable censures against the actions of America, and an American has simply returned with biased, as you all say, "Redneck", generalisation of the entire outside world, has led me into a habit of doing the same in response.
It is my learning of Aristotle, (But I am still reading his works yet), in fact that allows me, when blamed or found guilty, to analyse myself and produce the problem!
And this is what it was, I typed in the manner that I was speaking of American government and especially American media, and because of the subject of my post, I lost realisation of my audience - and criticised in general.
While there is a definitive American way of life, which I do vigorously oppose almost to the point of true hatred, I, and many others realise that there are people living within that country who do scorn as much as myself.
It is perhaps the reason that we think these people not in the same character of the Americans we attack, that is the reason we do not refer to them as Americans in speech, but as simple friends.
I hope this explains psychologically why I wrote those paragraphs, that I do in no way withdraw anything I said, but tell you that the focus of my resentment was more narrow that in appeared.
And as a great, perfect example of the generalisation your fellow Americans use Bootsiuv, and in doing so they have induced the Western world to use, is the word; Terroist.
It infuriates me, to see anyone who shows military aggression towards the United States to be a terroist!
In the eyes of your president, T.E. Lawrence of Arabia was a terroist, Joan of Arc was a terroist, Boadicea of the Iceni was a terroist!
Any guerrilla fighter is in actuality a terroist to your country!
I fear, that if my country were to be bombed in great constance for the period of a year, and the forests that surround my coastal area to be burned to the frivolous undergrowth, if my country were to recieve the greatest insult without ever provoking it, and we were all to protect ourselves against it, that we would then be labelled, "Terroist!".
For in doing this, not the Senate of your country, but those wicked, yet amazingly clever manipulators who do master the art of propaganda, destroy all discrimination or nationalism of the countries they wish to reduce, simply by slowly pulling a large white sheet over the entire middle east and writing, 'Terroism' upon it.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I have in my own sense, apologised, and hopefully in doing so given reason for what I said, and shown an example of that reason.
I will not return to this thread until all political debate has ceased, because I don't wish to insult my American friends again through carelessness.
The further you are from the American capital, the more clearly you see into it.

I am sorry that you feel this way, as I fail to see what America could have possibly done to you in your short 15 years on this planet. I do understand that America's policies are unfavorable, to say the least.
Everyone hates the big boy on the block, and right now, that's America, so some naturally hate us....In 200 years it may very well be the EU or China which is the new America....most of the world will likely hate them....it is the natural order of things.

You know glenn, A terrorist is someone who tries to disturb the peace of a country, not just the USA, it could be britian, germany, spain, it doesnt matter, its not like America made up the word terrorist. We dont call anybody who shows agression towards the USA a terrorist, did we call germany terrorists in WW2? no.
Maybe we use it more then other countries in our media, sure, but most of our media IS about terrorists, people trying to disrupt the peace of our country, also trying to screw up Iraq by car bombing everything, they are terrorists.
If Mexico declared war on the USA we wouldn't call them terrorists.
I'm just trying to get the point across that we dont refer to everyone as a terrorist.

thats just like wrestling! push to the limits, then keep pushing!
seems as if we have s/t in common.....
I would've thought we have a lot in common!
I've only just returned to playing rugby after 3 years out with a dicky shoulder. So my limits aren't where they once were.
I'm finding it really difficult at the minute, but I'm determined to keep going.
Hurrah I just borke my nose in rugby practice free round for everybody!!!
Luxury! I broke a rib by simply coughing. Anyone can do it by falling, but it takes lungs to break a bone with them.
lol @Thatoo
We're still determining position. Getting to know each other. I have a touvh for kicking and I'm pretty strong and fast so maybe a winger or a flanker I guess. I also tend to push back a lot of rucks due to my big leg muscles. What position do you play?
I'm already at a gym but I only get technical training twice a week. I'm trying to press the coach so he gives us extra training on mondays.
Cheers...

...but there was a terrorist like organization called, IIRC, the werewolves, who did the same kind of things the terrorist are doing now. u know what the great general Patton did when he caught one? interrogated to the fullest extent then shot them.
ORLY?
The only real thing that the "Werwolf" did, was the assassination of Franz Oppenhoff (mayor of Aachen as it was occupied by US forces), and they established a radio-propaganda network called "Radio Werwolf", which was actually a big joke because they only broadcasted shit which no one believed.
And they *tried* to burn some houses, but the most actions failed.
So you see they did NOT do exactly the same things as modern-day terrorists do, like: Flying airplanes in big towers, beheading people in the name of [insert random name here], destroying poor peoples houses with bulldozers and give it then to their "settlers" who likes to shoot little palestines... I can make this list last forever, but if you compare the things the Werwolf actually did, and then look at the reactions of the french/british/US/soviets soldiers there, you will see that its somewhat overreacted.
Oh yeah I nearly forgot a nice point-of-view for Irans nuclear stuff:
Why is it forbidden for them to have reactors, if Israel actually have even A-bombs? And now the worse part: Israel STOLE their bombs (at least the yellowcake) from france, because france saw that Israel would only use their bombs to harass his neighbours, so they stopped the yellowcake deliveries to Israel.
I think its better to have a country which has nuclear power, but under international control, rather than a country which says "fuck you all - germany/US pay my bills please" and has an unknown amount of bombs - and is not afraid to use them....
Hooahguy
10-25-2007, 14:29
its better that Israel has nukes, b/c it deters thier arab neighbors who are bent on their destruction!
Israel will only use the nukes for defensive purposes. i.e.- iran attacks or something. iran is the opposite. just look at their leaders vow to destroy israel. the fact that israel has nukes deters them from attacking.
edit- btw, what does ORLY mean?

Hmmmm....Israel.
Touchy subject, that one.
I'm of the opinion that America (my country) helps them too much. They're obviously quite capable of taking care of themselves (six day war, ahem).
I am also of the opinion that both deserve their own state.
Who are we to deny the Jews there own state?
Based on that logic, who are we to deny the Palestinian there own state?
Quite frankly, I fail to see why so many 'arab' nations are so upset. That was the Jews land 3000 years ago, before any modern states existed.

I'm not trying to reason for them in any way, but using that argument, what's to stop some Native Americans forcibly removing you from your home? Or Italian and German Americans returning to their ancestral lands and demanding their lands back?
Like I said, not trying to excuse their actions. Just spit-balling.
It is indeed a touchy one.

You make some very valid points Horst.
Thus, the conundrum the world finds itself in....even the world's greatest diplomats and statesman can't seem to find an acceptable solution!!
So it would be rather fool-hardy to think any of us could, barring, of course, one of us being a very influential diplomat or statesman who somehow has found the spare time to play video games.
Not likely, but who knows.
It's definitely over my head, just as much as this Iraq fiasco which my country finds itself involved in.
I heard Hillary Clinton say one of her main campaing props was removing troops from Iraq, but it must be done 'very carefully'.
I couldn't help but think to myself...'hmmm, that's another trademark statement by a politician...very carefully seems very vague to me, and doesn't really answer anything.
I could go home and cut off my balls very carefully, but that doesn't necessarily mean its a good thing.
We (america I mean) find ourselves locked into an unwinnable war. If we leave an ENORMOUS power vacuum will open up in the area....and who do you think will move in?
I have a fairly good idea, and it's not comforting to me personally. I have nothing against the people of Iran, but their gov't would do all in their power to see me destroyed, simply because I was born in Michigan. It's pretty shitty really. A Iran in control of Iraq a happy american does not make.
Meh, like I said, it's all way over my head.

Cheerleaders are fun. :) And rugby is better than american football anyday! I mean I probably wouldn't have broken my nose if I were in padings...
Also, I don't think it's smart to play a game where the players life expectancy is of 7 years.
And it's a drg to watch American footbll anyway. I mean they advance 10 yards and it's like the play of the century or something. Jeez
Anyway everyone gets what he deserves right? :p
Rugby rules. 7 men rugby is really wierd but I like it. You must pay more attentipn to the game himself cause a bad pass is a sure try for the opponent.
I'd like to see the biggest player from american football geting tackled by Jerry Colins or better yet Chabal :)

I can't bring myself to watch it unless I love the teams, believe it or not. It takes the game 12 hours because they insist on having like a 8 hour halftime show. It is a very big advertising thing....superbowl time costs advertisers several million dollars for one 30 second slot. I don't like it to be honest, it's almost a side show....superbowls in the 90's weren't so bad....I could watch those, without being reminded 47 times in 2 minutes to drive a GM or drink some pepsi. :laugh4:
So don't worry, even some americans can't make it through it.

Yes, I'm afraid you must be. Cricket is only similar to baseball in the fact that it involves hitting a ball.
Crickets intricacies are far too numerous to mention here, but I assure you, it is nothing like baseball.
There is a game in Britain for girls called rounders which is almost exactly like baseball. In fact, it is just baseball without the oversized gloves and obscenely tight trousers.

You need to remember that it's not all about size! I'm not especially big (about 6ft and 15 stone, give or take) but I ran right over the top of someone who was a good 6 inches taller than me yesterday.
It's more about upper body strength if you play in the forwards. Later on in a match when players start to get tired, they don't tend to tackle properly (ie around the midriff and legs) because they're too tired to bend down. This causes them to try to tackle high (around your chest). If you have a lot of upper body strength, you can just bounce them off and run over the top of them.
If you're a centre or a winger (or even a full back), its more important to be QUICK!! No matter how big the other player is, if you're too quick for him, he can't hurt you.
Good luck in your first match, you'll have to let me know how it goes!
I'm about to watch some American Football; the Miami Dolphins are playing NY Giants in London. I'm willing to let the yanks persuade me that American Football is better than rugby, although I doubt they will.
I know it's not about size. I'm doing right now a "recovery training" so to speak. it's a lot of exercises of medium charge (40~50%) and average repetitions just to get my body used to the work.
Then, I'll do a max power training High charge (85~100%) with few repetitions. then, combine maintenance training with pylometric training low charge (25~30%) with lots of repetitions. this is what gives you speed and stamina. I was advised to do some hypertrofia training but I'm not too much into that stuff so... I'll probably gain 6Kg from this and increase my strenght dramatically.

Maybe I misunderstood what was going on. Something was happening and they were all just sitting around watching the clock tick down to zero.
From bbc.co.uk, the match round up about the Miami vs NY game....
"And once Jay Feely's onside kick went out of bounds, the Giants ran out the clock.
A mix of travelling Miami fans, American expats, hardcore fans from all over Europe and some casual supporters booed the tactic - a normal occurrence at the end of games - heartily."
This is what I meant. There was talk of time outs when this was occuring, I must've put 2 and 2 together and got 5.
Regardless, I still didn't like the way they ended it. It didn't strike me as very sportsman like.

Really, though, they pay millions to these guys every year....they're not going to risk injury (especially to a quarterback) if they're already winning.
Unsportsmanlike....perhaps, but having 100 million dollars worth of players on the field might make those who pay a little nervous...

Well... I'm not sure I understood half of what you said and I'm not sure whether I should feel offended or not. :inquisitive: But this is what happend.
Me and about ten friends rented the local bowlinghall. But since I don't live in the city were the bowlinghall is located, I had to leave early with the bus. :shame:
Once at home, I went up to my room. I didn't want to go to bed all dizzy and drunkish, so I turned on the computer. I saw this thread, and said to myself, I'm gonna write something. So I did! After that I watched a film. End of story!

I am cast into wonder, Lovejoy.
Speak further, and more clearly as to why you became intoxicated, logged into these forums and then praised everyone here with semi-serious spelling errors.
Does something depress you, are you deprived of sociable entertainment lately?

Glenn, don't be a dick. Give the guy a break.
I am with a massive hangover now. I think I exagerated last night :p
Anyway, You don't see rugby matches where the coach deliberatly makes the team stop and waste time. That's why I don't like American football. Y«It's a too long game.

Yeah am wondering too. It's been there before in the form of a small size line reading "Add this post to favourites", then it kinda seem to have vanished only to come back to haunt us with ugly green stars now.

Hello everyone. Going off topic, but here's my introduction.
My name's Josh, I'm 16, I play High school football, and since last March, it has almost completely possessed my life. In fact, our last game was last week. I'm on JV and we had a record of 8-2, which is the best record our school has had in a verrry long time. Varsity, was only 3-8 however. But that's still the best record since '98 or '97 I think... Prior to this year, the Varsity record in two seasons was 1-21. Reallllly bad. I know. Oh well, we play against some of the best teams in the country, so some of us get picked by d-1 colleges/universities. Going off on a tangent about that, I'm a junior and plan on majoring in Archaeology, or History at either Randolph-Macon College in VA(D-3), or Davidson College in NC, about 2 hours from my home(D-3 as well). History, and Ancient Warfare has intrigued me since probably before I can remember. I've grown up on History Channel, National Geographic, and Discovery Channel. I'm an extremely avid reader, and am just barely to keep myself satiated when it comes to books. I try to buy series' in advance, so I don't have to waste time between books. Oh yeah, I'm also a really good procrastinator. :) Any questions or stuff, just let me know somehow.

Thanks everyone for your warm congratulations....
The green stars are indeed, quite ugly....why not a more aesthetically pleasing color like blue?
And welcome to the Tavern, Akhenaton. I, too, have found my favorite channels are The History Channel, Discovery Channel, and the Science channel....my girl yells at me because she says it's boring, and she would rather watch days of our lives or some crap. :laugh4:
So, what's your pleasure....I assume soda, because a youngster such as yourself would never, ever drink....right? :beam::laugh4:

Lol, this reminds me of my freshman year english class(aka 2 years ago). Two girls I know, and am still good friends with got drunk in class. We're allowed to have drinks, usually water, but their "water" was Vodka. Which I had a few swigs of, the result of which, was nothing. They however, had a few swigs and were literally falling off their chairs...
Ah yes, the good old psycological drunkness. the idea of the effect suplants the efect itself... Good times.
Horst, what NZ- GB rugby match??

A Heineken please dude. Hey all. My name is Tiberiu-Eduard, nice to meet you all. I am 24, am from Romania and the reason why I am here drinking with you is that I love history. There are lots of things I can say about me, so many that noone could waste so much time reading my fallacies. So I will try to be brief. I like history, I like girls, I like sports (Football, Tennis, Rugby, etc), I like reading, I like... wait phone... Where is my beer dude? OK... I like smoking and I know it's bad, I like exercices, I like EB (I love EB), I like one night stands, I like dogs, wolves, eagles, dolphines, horses (animals in general except cats, cuz women love them and I am a misogynist, so I don't like cats), I like war and I know it's bad, ok I like cats too, I like bikes, I like rock, blues, jazz and classic music, I like some movies, I like many things... I hope one day I will write a book. No, one day I will write a book. One more Heineken here garcon. Thanks.

Heh, feeling bored today and was looking thought the game room, and I came accross the concept of rtw hangman. So how about we start a game of eb hangman?
Rules are simple, any word goes, provided it is directly related to EB (ie, nothing about history in the be time frame if it sin't mentioned in eb), so you can have unit names, characters (from the start date or common names, Blasio:sweatdrop: ), provinces, things from the yera in history scrolls, ect, ect.
N.B. If you do a latin/greek word make sure you are 100% sure yo have splet it right before you post. I know if this takes off I really il need a new slave...
So I will start with something nice and easy:
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0
I can't be bothered with doing a complicated little sketch so I'll give you chances and score them out as you use them. Now someone post a guess, once one person has guessed wait untill I update it before posting another guess.

This (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21669167/?GT1=10547), I think. And whilst I have to say that I agree humanity is overated, that does not give you the right to kill people.
There is only one person you have the right to kill, and that is yourself. And then only if you have no friends, family or any responsiblities whatsoever.

Hey everybody! I'm really late to post anything ever since I've been looking at this forum for maybe a year now. I am absolutely in love with this game and I spend a lot of time reading about in-game experiences and just plain history "debates".
So, my name is vincent moseley and I am from Long Island, NY. I am also a first year college student at SUNY Maritime! Majoring in facilities engineering and within that major I have no real idea for what I want to do in life.
For now, I love EB. I have spent countless hours on it and many more to come. Btw my favorite faction is the romani and I have yet to get to the marian reforms, is it just me or does anyone else seem to never make it that far before starting a new campaign?
P.S. I'll take whatever beer you got on tap, barkeep!
