I don't know how they arrived at the choice of Monti, or wether there were other serious contenders. Doesn't matter as far as I'm concerned. Monti's cabinet is sanctioned by democraticly elected MP's and is therefore legitimate.Which 29,600 odd more votes than have ever been cast for Monti. Did the Italian MPs have a choice of candidates... sadly not. Some election!
Who are you to decide wether Italian politics are democratic or not, anyway?
