Yep. I could not give you Savoy for two reasons
1. RPing: That was an inheritance from the King of Savoy, and Switzerland has no legal claim to it whatsoever. Should we find an actual, long lost heir of JH, then by all means, I shall return it to him.
2. OOC: I can't surrender it because it was basically a gift from JH. It's not only not fair that I should not have to surrender land of which Switzerland doesn't control any, that Switzerland never had any legal basis to owning, but it's not fair to JH. By ceding it to me, he was saying "I trust France to keep Savoy safe from harm or division". And by a long lost heir, I mean either CR, JH, CDF's friend, or a friend I have who has been watching the game, although he;s currently in Finland skiing at the minute.

I've stated what I think is pretty fair (Switzerland keeps all the territory it now owns, France cedes the Hexes it controls in Milan and Switzerland, Savoy becomes independent [Thus keeping Switzerland safe from Froggy Aggression, and keeping France safe from Cuckoo-Clock Imperialism], Switzerland gets a load of Dosh). Considering my millitary situation (Madrid is under siege, Spanish are cut off in France, possibly destroyed, French are marching into Swiss Valleys), these are very generous terms. Certainly enough to warrant a


Swiss doesn't agree to cease-fire if Savoy goes neutral or remains in French possession. You're very clever, but Savoy being an allied state to France and fighting the Swiss over northern Italy, shockingly, is an unacceptable arrangement.

Although we do need a name for this Treaty? Treaty of Copenhagen sounds good, as both Denmark is neutral, as well as the real world irony.

I know that that looks like I've just acted like a colossal prat, but this was due to a communication failure rather than anything else. :sweatdrop: I'm sorry, but I can't accept the ceding of Savoy. If you want to present alternative terms, go for it.


As far as I am concerned, the war is over. My allies feel the same way.

I will honor my deal with the French by aiding them in stopping the Spanish, then retire from the war with what dignity I can muster. However even at that time, until the war is over my Royal army WILL be residing in Brest to protect English holdings in France. (With the deal falling through I do maintain control of Normandy and Brest, as I only planned on giving them back to help the French accept Switzerland's deal.)
