Game rules
1. Role PMs:
Do not quote your role PM, do not screenshot your role PM. You may paraphrase what the PM says. Don't talk about what time you got the role PM. Don't challenge people to prove their town status by describing the layout or formatting of the role PM. Basically, just play the game. Don't talk about the role PM, except that you may say what role and alignment you are, any powers you may have.
2. Outside communication:
Do not talk about the game with spectators or other players. Info can leak out. Unless the game host has given you a specific communication channel to use, private communications are not allowed in this game.
3. Voting (Vote: and bold and red)
To vote, you will need to make your vote as visible as possible, because I'm old and I can't see too well in my twilight years.
You must Vote: and Bold and red your vote or unvote. You do not need to unvote to vote for someone else. I will accept votes with broken tags if I see them. Although, rest assured, I am cruel, and if your crappy vote would have resulted in something bad happening for your team if I don't count it, I might deliberately not count it, because I am evil. So try to make sure your votes are visible, bold, and red. Hiding your vote in a spoiler is a good idea... if you like not having your vote count. Do not use bold and red together otherwise, unless you wish to ruin your active vote and render it invalid. Voting "abstain" is not allowed. Voting "no lynch" is not allowed. Play the game.
Examples here, in case you're suffering from confusion status:
Vote: Sasaki Kojiro
to vote a new target, no need to unvote, simply
Vote: Seamus Fermanagh
to vote no one until you decide:
Unvote
Got it? Bold and red. Fire red.
4. Activity
Unless you have told me you will be absent (waves at GH), if you go an entire day phase without voting, you will get a strike. A second strike may result in a modkill or sub-out if I have subs available. You have 48 hour day phases. Surely you can post a vote. Have issues with your schedule? Let me know you will be absent in advance and I will mark you as excused or find a sub, if it is an extensive absence. Generally (and hankerchiefly) you don't want to be absent for more than a day phase at a time. Let's limit our absences.
5. Phase lengths (48 hour days, 24 hour nights)
I know some people like longer or shorter phases, but this is the compromise we all have to live with. It also meets my schedule better. Phases end midnight Norwegian time, which works out to something like 6pm eastern time USA. The phases are also long enough that if the phase end deadline is inconvenient, you should still be able to post a vote that phase. Just like... get gud, or something.
6. The right to edit posts (gone in 60 seconds!)
Do not edit your post to add content or remove content (at all) or alter a vote, even to fix a vote tag, if the post has been up for more than 1 minute. I will give you 60 seconds to fix your silly mistakes. Otherwise, you must make a new post. Don't accidentally the entire game by posting something meant for your mafia chat in a post, or accidentally link a quicktopic link. Quicktopic adds info to your links that you post in a quicktopic, so any links copied from there into the game thread get redirected through your qt page, and you can even find the quicktopic from the link. Right, Autolycus? :laugh4:
TL;DR: You can fix a grammar or a spelling or a tag or a link, but avoid making big edits. 60 second time limit. You edit after that, and I can see that you've done that. Depending on the edit, it may be an immediate modkill. Don't make me destroy you.
7. Tied votes (coin of doom)
If the tie is 3 or more people, it is sudden death, next vote change to put someone in clear first will lynch that person immediately, and if the vote change puts 2 people tied for first, I will spin a coin. If the tie is 2 people, there is no sudden death, I will spin a coin. A fat coin. Heads kills the first person in alphabetical order, tails kills the other poor sap. If the coin comes to a rest still on its edge and stays up, I will decide what happens next with extreme cruelty and glee. Maybe both will die. Maybe both will live. Whichever option creates the most chaos chaos chaos. Mayb...maybe want to avoid ties? I 'unno... it's up to you!
Coin of doom, spin spin spin. How much chaos will you bring?
8. Flavor gaming
Townies will not know which pokemon they are, or what type, or whatever. They will simply know what, if anything, their role does. They will all be referred to was Townies. If they are Townies with powers, their role is officially "Townie with _____ power". It is possible I will forget this format entirely and refer to folks as Vanilla. It doesn't indicate that someone is faking their role claim. It just means the game host is old and decrepit at the end stage of pre-mortem decomposition and is mostly decayed bones and skin at this point, his mind loooong gone. That said, if you were able to figure out through deduction who or what you are, it's possible it may help you? Doubt it though.
9. Mafia's info
The mafia will know who they are and have powers they can safely claim. Try to brute force my game, and prepare for disappointment. They'll always have more info than you.
10. Gotta catch 'em all!
Town wins when all threats to town have been eliminated. Mafia wins when they reach parity with town.Player list:

Professor Oak:
"OH HAI THERE! Welcome to the world of POKEMON! People call me Professor Oak. Want to know why they call me that? Heh, well, we'll get to that later. First, I want to show you something...."
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/9/9f/033Nidorino.png/250px-033Nidorino.png
Professor Oak:
"This right here, is a goshdang POKEMON!
Some people keep them as pets. Others like to make them fight each other to the death! Some people even like to dress up as pokemon... We don't talk about that. And I study pokemon as a profession. I get a nice paycheck from the government to pretend to think about these things. It's a sweet job. I haven't done a single thing in ten years but chase women in my lab coat. Don't you think it makes me look sexy?"
-Yes
-No
-I'm 10
Professor Oak:
"Next, I need to ask you some personal questions. Which gender are you? ...Is that still something I can ask? Okay, let's skip that question. What is your name?"
-Red
-Ash
-Silent Protagonist
-I've lived next door to you my whole life
Professor Oak:
"Oh, right... how could I have forgotten. And this guy... man oh man, he needs no introduction. This is my pride and joy, the brightest and most talented chip off the old block of them all. You all know who he is! Go on, say his name! Let it roll around on your tongue a little bit!"

-Gary
-Mother
-F*^&ing
-Oak
Professor Oak:
"OH YEAH BABY! YOU KNOW IT!
This guy looks a little bit like you, but way better looking! He's been your 'friend' since you were little. And he's always been better than you in every way. What can I say, my genes look good on him, and his mom is a total babe.
Speaking of which, I have a task for you. I need you to go to the Pokemart and pick up an ordinary brown package full of things that are way, way too boring for kids. Can you do that for me, sport? It's just up the hill, in Viridian City. The shopkeeper knows me. He's cool.
Just go pick it up and be gone for at least an hour, okay kid? Maybe an hour and a half to be on the safe side. But before you go, you'd better take one of these monsters I have just lying around. The road to the city is really fricking dangerous. There are these birds that are almost half a meter tall, and they can totally rip your eyes out with their claws. And don't even get me started about the man-eating rats. Hoo-boy! Anyway, pick one."

-Bulbasaur
-Charmander
-Squirtle
Professor Oak:
"You have chosen... Bulbasaur...?
I don't know how good it will be against those giant birds I just told you about, or those rats that might chew it to death. I mean, there's even giant bugs after that which... nevermind. Doesn't matter. You did see there was a lizard with big fangs and claws that can set things on fire, though, right? What's that thing do, blossom into a pretty flower? I mean, the turtle at least has a shell.
But whatever, I'm sure you know what you're doing. It's fine. It's cool. Don't worry about it. Okay, good luck!"
- You turn to leave. Gary grabs the Charmander with a smirk and calls you out.
Gary Oak:
"Hey, dumbass! Before you run off like a little chicken, why don't you challenge me to a pokemon battle? I'm going to wreck your shit!"
A pokemon battle begins...

Bulbasaur FAINTED!!!
You blacked out.
...
Also, Gary took all your money.
Professor Oak:
"OH MY GOD! I've never seen so much blood!
I didn't even know plants HAD blood!
...Are you okay kid?"
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/344/641/dd6.png
Gary Oak:
"HA HA HA HA HA! That was the easiest battle of my life!
Of course it was, because I'm Gary Goddamn Oak!
...Smell you later, bitches! I'm off to become the World Champion!"
Professor Oak:
"Jimminy Jesus. You're in bad shape. I'd better get you patched up.
As for your Pokemon, this poor thing needs surgery or something. Here, you'd better take this turtle instead.
...Wow, kid, you kinda suck, huh?"
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/3/39/007Squirtle.png/250px-007Squirtle.png
You got a Squirtle, and left Bulbasaur with the Professor.
Better take care of this one...
Professor Oak:
"Okay. Now, go get my package and bring it back here.
Also, take these pokeballs, at the rate you're going through Pokemon, you'll need some spares.
I think I'll say hi to your Mom while you're gone. Take your time and catch a bunch of pokemon.
Hope you make it back in one piece, whatever your name is."
Begin Route One.
Day One starts now, and ends 11:59:59 PM (Norway time) Monday 22nd of May.
That's 6pm Eastern time (USA) on that day.

Hello, everybody. I'm novice, a townie, and I hail from the Realms Beyond forums, where I have about 40 games under my belt. I'm the inquisitive detective kind of player.
There are some unfamiliar faces here, so if people can reciprocate with two words about their background, experience, style and alignment that would be great.
Two words on each of those topics, or just two words to sum it all up?

Good knowing speed = certain crit is still here. Original Gen mechanics? Total Crap.
Squirtle? The hell? Can we pretend we have better pokemon?
So guys? What's up?

Two words on each of those topics, or just two words to sum it all up?
Two words minimum. "Rookie scum" would be a sufficient answer, for example.
Good knowing speed = certain crit is still here. Original Gen mechanics? Total Crap.
Is that Pokemon jargon or the clumsiest breadcrumb ever?

Hello, everybody. I'm novice, a townie, and I hail from the Realms Beyond forums, where I have about 40 games under my belt. I'm the inquisitive detective kind of player.
There are some unfamiliar faces here, so if people can reciprocate with two words about their background, experience, style and alignment that would be great.

Seems pointless but will humor.
Experience? Low-ish. Lot lower compared to my peers. But got some good tips from some vets. Which I forget.
Background? Not sure how to two word this. Played on two other places, one's dead. Giraffe is still here.
Style? Have fun.
Alignment? Pointless question.

Is that Pokemon jargon or the clumsiest breadcrumb ever?
Jargon on Charmander mauling the sprout. Speed glitch defined meta back in the day. Persian was top cat and could slash crit with a 99% confidence thanks to it. Having a nostalgia trip. No breadcrumb here. Not a big fan of it honestly.
Good knowing speed = certain crit is still here. Original Gen mechanics? Total Crap.

Actual style answer-
Offense > defense.
Townies who protect themselves to survive aren't worthless. They're worse. They deadweight. Find wolves. Win game. Second goal? Look townie to narrow suspects. Survival is dumb. Town is a herd. Swarm and trample wolves. You die doing it? Acceptable loss. Wolves can win with you surviving. Don't be dumb, focus on actual goal. Not what makes you feel better.
Breadcrumbing occasionally okay, but dangerous cause wolves got more intel. Better nose for finding it. Good idea for Cops though. Activity good. Posts with real content good. Don't take game too seriously. Be competitive but relax.
Analyse thoughts again as game goes. Don't stick with old thoughts. Keep reassessing. Bias is a trap. Be willing to be wrong. Then try again. Get closer to truth. Basic science.

I don't know you, you don't know me, so all you have is my word and your own conclusions anyway.
For that matter, I'm going to hold you to attempting making something game-relevant out of the results once everyone's done talking about themselves. I might like the apparent interest in sparking discussion regardless, however.

Related question mainly out of curiosity: If you think you have one wolf caught, do you go for the throat right away even if it gets you killed, or wait and try to find/case more suspects/catch other wolves before you charge?
And why does this sound like a long way to say "I believe in basic active town tactics?" Sounds like you're lecturing, why?
(Also, which gens have you played and which is your favorite? favorite 'mon from each gen/overall?)

It is mainly a (pretty lame) conversation starter, and while it is also somewhat relevant to know just the basics - are you a chronic lurker or a self-important chatterbox, and which other players do you have a history with - this type of info will come to light soon enough anyway.
So basic fact gathering aside, I'm definitely planning to draw my own conclusions.

Depending on the game it tends to be a random vote stage at the beginning of a game where you just throw your vote around as a joke. Sometimes people do it, sometimes they don't.

If you want to keep it a secret who you are, that's fine.

Yes, I think you should leave as visible a trail as possible regarding your suspicions and thought processes, and get started as soon as possible. Vote early and often. Ideally you should always have a vote on your top suspect.*
For majority lynch games a bit more care may be required, I don't have much experience with that game type though.
*Generally speaking. There are acceptable exceptions, e.g. when applying pressure to specific players and when trapping.

I had a long, on point but also witty response typed out and then my browser crashed. :wall:
In short I stereotype everyone, and everyone does that. So I'm a bit surprised to be asked to discuss Sooh specifically at this point. Generally you just have to try and compensate for bias in your estimations, and also fall back on more objective evidence such as voting records, power role results and interaction patterns.
The best process, as you allude to, is the scientific one, where you have a group of peers critiquing each other's work. Everybody's biased, but in a collective the biases might cancel out (or not - groupthink is a very real danger). Not so easy of course when the group is infiltrated by scumbags, but still.
I get the feeling my browser is about to crash again so let me share my Sooh reads in the next post.

About Sooh. I stereotype her as the helpful, observing type, who (tries to) facilitate discussion, gathers evidence, and follows up with good insights later, not having too many strong opinions, but also rarely being wrong. Does not drive the lynch.
So she's on schedule so far but has a lot to live up to later...

So, my first thought was that novice is a bit scummy for pushing the "everyone needs to give me your own descriptions of your playstyles" thing just a bit too hard, especially as he's been on this forum before and I don't recall him doing it when he was truly new (and town) to boot. There's a couple posts in there about ideal town strategy, etc, but that's pretty easy to fake as scum.

So far, I'd agree about helpful and trying to start discussion, as her stepping in to react to what she read as my potential inexperience/lack of knowledge. She did show she puts importance on analysis and evidence when she mentioned looking forward to when I'd actually analyze things. I can't say I like her ignoring the questions I've asked in saying that, or that it still looks like she went out of her way to answer for you.

Because, GH, I haven't pushed that thing at all. I asked politely, once, in the opening post. The only post where I'm even close to pushing it is in post 45 in a direct response to Viper, and there I said that it was mainly a conversation starter. A multitude of players ignored my request without me complaining. I'm even voting for Raith Kemmler because he answered my request!
I've never played with these players before:
Logic
Champ
Manasi

So I figured it was a reasonable conversation starter. Which also might draw a scummy vote like the one you just made.

No, I thought he was saying that he had noticed me not being good at drawing conclusions.

The point was rather that I've played with her enough to from a stereotype and little enough that it might be way off.

No, I thought he was saying that he had noticed me not being good at drawing conclusions.
Ah.
He's made a point of saying he might not be able to read you correctly because of having played with you regularly before and having formed a preconception of how you play. Are you saying he hasn't played with you that regularly?
I'd say rather that he's only describing how he sees/what he looks for in your town play, since nobody talks about how mafia is rarely "wrong".
Regularly is a very loose term in that case. I've played less than 10 games here on this site I believe, not all of them with novice, and over the course of a couple of years. That would also be the reason why I don't feel like I have much in terms of meta on players here, but rather play from what I see, not what I expect.
Questions to Raith and what I meant by that question to novice in regards to analyzing things.
I don't understand. Are you looking for me to answer something?
That's what I was aiming for though.
Sure, I'd like a link, although I'm not planning on doing external research on 16 players.
From November last year, so it's a bit older than I remembered. Post (http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/topic/99552-standard-final-fantasy-vii-mafia-mafia-wins-d4/page-77#entry3722537)

Nah, just saying it looks like you said I was doing nothing when I'd already started asking questions.

That's sort of what I got from it, yes. I was a bit confused by Viper's insistence that you said you knew my play well.

That's sort of what I got from it, yes. I was a bit confused by Viper's insistence that you said you knew my play well.
Not particularly, I don't remember many specifics. I guess I have a (unverbalizable) mental model of what kind of player you are, and if you do something at odds with that I might react. But of course that could then just be an error in my model.
I have you stereotyped, I guess.
This, the mention of having stereotyped you especially, implies he has enough experience from games with you to have enough knowledge of how you played for there to be bias.
No, I'm not sure where you saw that in my posts. I don't feel like I've commented much on your play at all.
Looking forward to seeing when you start analyzing things though.
Ok, I can't say that I necessarily agree with you or see the same things you see, but that might be due to different experiences. I do like that you're being thorough, and I think by keeping a steady line of questioning it'll ultimately make it really difficult for mafia to keep up. That being said, what I meant when I said I was looking forward to your analysis was that I was looking forward to seeing what you're getting from your line of questioning, and how you interpret the responses that you're given.

Well it probably won't be a very nice game if you want to interpret everything the worst way possible.
If I sound "teachery" or condescending, that's not the intention. I've never had that problem before with people interpreting me that way, but since you do I assume there could be something lost in translation.

To elaborate, either you're filling the thread with stuff you deem pointless, or you were shading me when you called it pointless.
Alignment question was pointless. Leads nowhere. Everything else I'll humor.
I was ranting. About the game last year with Golden. Where I tunneled because he scared of dying. Out of my system. For now.
I like going for the wolf when I see it, damn the consequences. But I also tend to self doubt and wait till sure. The wait and team theory build is impressive. But takes a more confident analyst than me. First blood helps that anyway with a solid evidence. Do you actually want me to share the gen thing? I can, but it'd be spammy. But it's been awhile and want to socialize.
Sooh and Viper probably not aligned.
Vote: novice
Novice seems too easy. His stop having fun guy style bristles, but neutral alignment-wise. Don't like seeing him die day 1 as yet.
Threads pretty unbalanced activity wise. Not sure what to make of that. I like Viper better than Sooh currently.

I like this, town always could use someone itching to go for the throat but also willing to take some time to think about things.
And nah, that was meant as a little side comment back when the game was just starting, I think it's too far along now to go that far off-topic.

I've got nothing on Bart. Never do Day 1. Shoot in midgame if no wolves caught. Maybe shoot anyway. Bart's more a, he looks hairy if paired with other people. People I've a better read on. He's easier to theory around.
GH's rational is weak, but! I assumed this was novice's first game here. Apparently not. Would like a summary of previous game meta. Novice is so active this might actually help. I rate GH as a bit shady.

I can (vaguely) remember three games. First game I was town, followed a few mislynches led by scum pizza, then got mislynched by him. Town lost. Second game I was scum and we won with three scum and three town remaining, and me being widely townread almost until the end. My suspicion on novice isn't that he made the post, it's that he made the post when, IIRC, he doesn't really have a known baseline of doing so. Not strange in general but it's strange for him. IIRC in Zack's game for example you just started going with thread flow right away.

As for my "Sooh/Viper not aligned comment" I mean precisely that; I don't think they're scumming together. Not definitively locking in an exact combination of both their roles, just ruling one of them out. Gun to my head if one of them's scum it's more likely to be Viper than Sooh atm but I have them as both town so far.

Because, GH, I haven't pushed that thing at all. I asked politely, once, in the opening post. The only post where I'm even close to pushing it is in post 45 in a direct response to Viper, and there I said that it was mainly a conversation starter. talk to me about chox, please
Idk what she does or doesn't do usually. I was just expecting more than "Talk about me guiz", especially since I feel like there was stuff she could have commented on.
Choxorn's posts so far:
Does Vote: Novice count as two words?
Reads as joke vote.
Novice looks okay, slight town lean on him right now.
Okay, I'll talk about you.
Unvote, Vote: Manasi
Reads as joke vote/light pressure.
What do you mean, voting you doesn't count as talking about you? I said something, and you responded. Seems like a conversation to me.Seems like he's going for some sort of reaction from Manasi, trying to get her to talk more, or at least that's how I read it.
Not too much to talk about yet. Not on my scumdar yet at least.
What are your thoughts on him?

I must be misreading this. Have you played with a handful of us already, or haven't you?
Yeah, I also thought the vote seemed a bit forced and possibly part of a greater scheme, hence my lawn question.
I played precisely one game on the Org (French Revolution hosted by GeneralHandkerchief, where I somehow convinced a large portion of the playerbase that I was scum, when in fact, I was not.) Some players I recognize from that game in this one. The second sentence was an incomplete thought; there was supposed to be an additional clause in there, and I didn't notice it until you pointed it out to me. So, besides the one game here on the Org, all my mafia/werewolf experience is from the Playground.

I have no takes.
I just double dosed Claritin and Dayquil so I'll be a somewhat coherent human soon.
I wanna call GH town bc he might ban me if I don't.
Surprised at how normal Champ's reaction to the game speed was.
Expected something more all over the place with him.
also i just realized starting tomorrow i'll be in 3 games hahah kill me hahahah
fair enough
and yeah i snap in'd this when i got the invite and then realized mtg starts tomorrow

Last 9ish hours have been slow though. Manasi in with no thoughts on anyone, which is kind of surprising to me.
Monty, Choxorn, Csargo and Autolycus about where I would expect them to be at this time in the game. A few joke/poke votes and a lean or two on players. GH's fairly long first post had some odd conclusions that I hope he can get back to.
I currently feel quite good about Novice and Severing Viper. Both are slight town leans. El Barto too, but I suspect I feel that way just because I enjoy playing with him. No solid reasons yet.
sooh mostly from this
you said "where i expect them to be" including chox

Meaning they have only placed a joke vote or two and a lean, not that they stand out in any way what so ever, no.

I've only played one game on this forum before, and I recognize a handful of the players from that game in this one. Unless you've played on the Playground in the last 3 years, no one has played a game with me before.

The information was not incorrect; I've no particular feelings about it either way. I took his answer to be an assessment of his experience with me on the Playground. He gave a third party opinion on the question posed.
Had his interpretation of my clarifying statement been incorrect or incomplete, I would have had been complled to clarify that the answer in no way speaks for me. In general, if someone wants to answer a question asked of me before I get to it, and the answer is not wrong and needs no clarification, then I only clutter up the conversation by repeating their statement as an agreement, so I am usually fine with letting the statement from someone else stand as is.

I guess you could call me an oversharer. I can't let things stand at a simple miscommunication, and I feel the need to explain myself all the time, even when not necessary, such as the context of a game such as this. It's a bad habit of mine. I would say ask the other Playgrounders, but I think Cuthillius is the only one I have played with any frequency to be able to vouch for this behavior of mine.

My clarifying paragraph I think perfectly answers the question, but if this nex part doesn't completely clarify, then I think I am incapable of explaining it.
I have played with a small number of the non-playgrounders in a single game here on the Org. This is a condensed version of sentences 2, 3, and 4 of this quote:

Also, don't hold back from saying anything you honestly think for the sake of avoiding offending me, it can only hurt town. I will challenge you if I think you're misrepresenting me, but only because that's something scum do, and I want to find them myself. We both want to be understood correctly and find scum to lynch, staying quiet to avoid conflict goes nowhere.
I've been trying to break that silence myself, but so far nobody can or wants to bite, unfortunately.

Questioning a contradiction is almost never suboptimal. Questioning contradictions and challenging people is how you play the game, you don't just wait for scum to hand you blatant slips and clear evidence.
Except that likely is what he meant, but it's not what he said:
And when asked by novice, he didn't clarify that was what he meant, but continued to talk about himself:

It isn't a slip though. Not a game relevant one anyway.
If he forgot that he played with someone recently or didn't, what does that have to do with anything in game? Or are you thinking that scum will pull a "I can't read this guy, because I haven't played with him before/recently"?

@seireikhaan (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/member.php?u=22831)
You object to my playstyle, is that it?
How am I on your lawn? Are you sharing a lawn with someone?
I don't share no lawn, it's MY LAWN. YOU GIT YOUR OWN LAWN. And then we won't have no troubles, ya see?
On a more serious note, if you want to get into deep conversations and and analysis on day 1, that's... fine, but I'm not too horribly concerned about that yet tbh. Don't get me wrong I'll check back in on day 2+ and compare notes to days after, but I'm not too hot and bothered yet because it's pretty RNG on whether a mafia gets nailed unless they really mess up. Although, on the playstyle bit, I will note that the people from off-site have a bit of a different interpretation of town play on some level to what I grew up with. I'm a bit more used to *everyone* playing relatively close to the vest, yes, even as town. If someone's triggering your scumdar, maybe you poke around, maybe get them lynched off response, but I've never been a fan of these "here's my list, I think people's X, Y, and Z are innocent, people's A, B, and C are iffy, and people's 1, 2, and 3 are scummy".

D2, D3. At this stage you might not get a response out of me even by voting me.
Alright then.
You should enable using profile pictures as avatars. The instructions are available on the forum page.
Hm, interesting~ ...And I really should get my profile picture a transparent background.
Just leave things be. As I told you, people here don't need to post every thirty seconds or so as in MU.
This is honestly an exaggeration, or have I been posting every 30 seconds? What if I hate that ridiculous pace and focus on talking for the sake of it myself?
The only reason it looks like people are doing that here is because only a few have decided that they don't need to wait a couple phases or so to start meaningful game talk. There is no set time to start getting serious or required rate of posts, and I would 100% say those things represent a stupid and poor mentality, but that works both ways. I want to be made to stop being easily one of the top three posters and not having there be a clear divide between them and the others by other players not waiting to an artificially set time to start getting serious. I don't like being the one who's commenting on everything and trying to start discussion about things that should be discussed. I don't think that's a ridiculous desire.
By saying "calm down and wait for d2!", you're telling me and the others who've been trying to spark activity and respond to things that those efforts and everything they've said means nothing. So you've already taken a position on things anyway.

okay
i'll leave you alone then
i've read it multiple times and i'm still not seeing a contradiction, so
That conversation's over anyway. Any other thoughts or reads?
It isn't a slip though. Not a game relevant one anyway.
If he forgot that he played with someone recently or didn't, what does that have to do with anything in game? Or are you thinking that scum will pull a "I can't read this guy, because I haven't played with him before/recently"?
Nitpicking about game slips, sure, go ahead! I feel though that those are most often made by townies, because in my experience scums quality check their posts more.
My point was not to wait for "game-relevant slips".
That's not what he said and I never thought it was. N/A
That can be true, but how far does it go? If I say anyone who makes a contradictory/strange/suspicious post should be left alone because scum would be more careful about what they post, I'd get nowhere, accomplish nothing and lose. Better to take the risk and push anything, and leave it to the player to convince me they're town. There are times they will, there are times they'll fail and get mislynched, there are times they are scum who can be made to slip from the pressure. But holding back does nothing.

I agree.
d1 is the point of lowest info, and a correct lynch is often luck (and due to a lucky screwup). That's not my point and not why I want more people to get involved now. I want more people to get serious because there has been discussion already and there are things people can and should think about and comment on. I'm not too fussed about the lynch either, my vote is still on GH because I'm not completely satisfied with what he's said and done, but it's still a judgement based on a small amount of data that could well be wrong. But I have absolutely no regrets even if it is a mislynch, because d1 is a c***shoot, yet town should not sit on their rear and wait for some anticipated time of better info. There is what to discuss now, and it's because of novice taking the initiative and starting serious discussion right away d1 that GH has something that's making people vote him and there's been plenty of discussion to read and form thoughts on/from. Why wait?

Laptop has taken ill. Will be a bit harder to post outside home. PSA, as I hate my phone for this.
Elaborate on Csargo and Monty? Autolycus seems normal enough for day 1. No lean. Could maybe vote towards Chox.
I can (vaguely) remember three games. First game I was town, followed a few mislynches led by scum pizza, then got mislynched by him. Town lost. Second game I was scum and we won with three scum and three town remaining, and me being widely townread almost until the end. Third game I subbed in as town on day three, tunneled on scum pizza, and got nightkilled quickly. You'd need to read the games for more details.
Sorry if I come across as a killjoy, I'm enjoying the game and find myself smiling while playing it.
More curious about the how of GH's reasoning than the game details. But thanks.
‘Theory’ is not a verb and ‘rational’ is not a noun, but that's Lisa's shtick. What is this ‘shoot in midgame if no wolves caught’ thing?
No one likes a pedent. Yes, pedEnt.
welp ded thread
anyway, all i did was ctrl f my name.
You guys need to talk about me more that was boring.
Haven't seen a post from Manasi I like. Not shady so much as empty filler. But said she's sick, so will wait to pass judgement.
Anyone have a vote count? Will manually do it in a few hours otherwise.

Just made one myself, pretty sure I got everything:
Novice - 3: GH, seireikhaan, Montmorency
Montmorency - 2: autolycus
Manasi - 2: Choxorn
GH - 3: SV, novice, Barto
Sooh - 1: Raith
Raith - 1: Logic
Seireikhaan - 1: Csargo
I don't think you unvoted before changing btw, novice;, and that's a requirement for it to count.

Of course, someone has to make sure there's something to check back in on from day 1 when day 3 comes around.
I'm not that bothered either with regards to who hangs, but I would like to get some information out of it. So let's chat.
Is your vote on me
A) A pressure vote
B) A random joke
C) A random crapshoot, where all things being equal, you might as well lynch a play style you're unfamiliar with
D) A serious vote based on scumtells hidden under your vest
If A or B, do you see it turning into C, or would you rather move the vote to another player? If D, could you open your vest?
Do you have opinions on any of the other kids on the lawn? Viper, Sooh, Raith and Cuthilius, for example?

There is nothing in particular to note, that was sort of the point. I usually end up having no lean on the majority of the players here at the Org, because I don't understand how people get leans from 3 posts with one sentence in each. All I'm saying is that those players seem like what I would expect from them here.

What did you mean by "my first thought"? I'd like to see your response before I unvote.
By "my first thought" I meant it was my first thought. It was the first thing that jumped out at me when I was catching up with the first glut of posts in the thread.
GH, in what way was I pushing it though?
And when you say that Sooh and Viper are not aligned, and you mean exactly that, that excludes them towning together also, right?
You kept going back to it, but on second thought I guess that could just be a natural extension of people responding to you and you furthering the conversation, which is stupid now that I look back on it.
Generally when people/myself say "not aligned" that strictly refers to "they're not mafia together".
I feel like half of the interactions people have been making with me/half the case on me has come down to pedantics, which is a dumb reason to lynch someone but then again I suppose I'm overdue to eat rope so que sera sera. Will try to put down some sick reads in the meantime.

Hot take: Someone involved in the later argument (the whole Logic, Playground/Org thing) is scum, saw the earlier pedantic argument and decided it would be good to get in one of his/her own.

Csargo doesn't really have a traditional range as scum, a lot of it depends on the individual game factors and his own ability to invest a lot of RL time, etc. Follow him logically, look at his reads/see if they match up with the gamestate, try to construct worlds where he's scum and see if they make sense - all the usual mafia hunting techniques, do that more than look for individual quirks IMO.
I have a hard time reading Monty.

That's sort of what I got from it, yes. I was a bit confused by Viper's insistence that you said you knew my play well.

Caught up finally, but still don't have a whole lot of time. I can say from what I've seen that SeveringViper style bothers me. There is a high post volume and they do seem to be engaging, which hints town to me. At the same time, the arguments being made seem to be more shallow shots than meaningful. Basically makes it a crapshoot, but for day one you can't hope for much more than that in my opinion.

B. 99% me. What do you say?

Please let other people answer for themselves first.
This is an odd reaction to Sooh's post. Given how you've pursued D1 so far. I'm unsure of what you're trying to accomplish, Sooh was adding content to the thread, even if the question wasn't directed towards her. So why?

Because when I ask someone a question, I want to see their answer unaffected and/or uninfluenced by someone else putting words in their mouth for them. Even if it's a more obvious answer/response, how they answer is important.

How could Sooh's post effect novice's answer? I'm also unsure as to why you thought the question had value in the first place. I honestly don't understand the logic behind it. Feel like the answer would have to be some iteration of what he said, or else he'd look inconsistent. Are you always this antagonistic in games? Your posts give me that vibe, or am I delusional?
