Introduction
The Picts are one of the more interesting factions to play in the Viking Invasion expansion. They have a variety of troop types to work with, including the only mounted missile unit in the campaign.

Faction Specific Units
Tactics
The Picts start at the north end of the main island. They begin the game with 7 provinces, but their farmlands are not developed, the land is poor, there are no mining possibilities, and money will be a problem at the start. Domon is isolated by the sea, and the Vikings will be coming for it's Abbey, probably before it can be reinforced properly. They also do not border any rebel lands, so their expansion will have to come at the expense of either the Scots or the Northumbrians.
To counter all of these disadvantages, the Picts have access to great troops. Celtic Warriors work well against spear units and are larger than the normal swords units. When built in Athfolta they get a +1 valour bonus. Berserkers are also available, these small units are capable of causing great damage, especially once they gain some valour. The Picts are the only faction to get crossbows, these have more range than the usual archers and are armour-piercing, just the thing to counter the heavy foot troops of the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. With the Mounted Crossbows, the Picts can run circles around heavy infantry and decimate these units.
The conventional wisdom is to take out the Scots first, build up a navy/make peace with the Vikings, build up the homelands, and then head south with good troops.
