Introduction

FN 06.gif

The Scots are one of the more difficult faction to play in the Viking Invasion expansion. Their starting position and limited troop choices make them challenging to play.

Starting Provinces and Units

Tactics

The Scots have a tough position. They have provinces on both Ireland and Britian, which gives them the opportunity to expand on either. But they will not be able to support each other for a while, and if war with the Vikings is ongoing, it is unlikely that supply lines will ever be safe. The Scots have no armour piercing units, so they will suffer greatly when facing the Viking units, or the Anglo-Saxon armies of Huscarles.

The Scots best bet is to ally with the Vikings, take Ireland and wipe out the Picts in Scotland, and then grind their way through the south of the main island. Troop upgrades will help, and sound tactics are key. Ulster has both Gold and Iron, this province is too important to loose. Ireland is rich and isolated, and makes a good economic base.
