hmm, those must be Australian inside jokes - I don't get any of it, but then, perhaps I am not supposed to.
And no, I dont mind you moving my cows at all.
In fact, I also saw that someone has relocated my little pig and the chicken to a place closer to my home, for which I am really grateful.

That was me... they were roadblocking :beam:
I have started on the first shop building and I gather it will be enough with two stories + loft. It is an expandable design where you can basically divide it into sections lengthwise and height wise. Not saying that all need to keep to this design, but I think for a city center - the buildings should have similar height for the bulk of them.
There can be monument-like buildings which stand out, like a capitol building, cathedrals or towers.
The facade of the n00b hotel could be re-made or made taller (add floors). The interior is too well made for a remake of the entire building.
BTW: We need clay for bricks :sneaky:

I plan on building a tower like the Space Needle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Needle). It will need a relatively large plot, as the base will need to curve out decently to keep the proportions correct. At the top will be an observation deck. Hopefully I'll be able to cram an elevator system into the middle of it, but SMP elevators are a big problem so I'll have to do some research on that first.
Unless you're planning on it, I'll work on the plaza first though. I've got some ideas for some redstone-powered fountains that I'd like to try out.

Where would you like to build it? Between the villas and the volcano? somewhere between the harbour and the capitol building?
The plaza is up for grabs.. I didn't see past the paving of stone slabs. Also think of something for street lights... the torches is kinda... Medieval.

Ideally I'd like for the Arena to be at least partially visible from the top, but for layout purposes I think between the harbour and capital would probably be better. Maybe a large building out there will help encourage more development as well.
Also think of something for street lights... the torches is kinda... Medieval.
I dumped about 10 stacks of glowstone at the construction area for street lights. I think a simple lamp-post system would work, with two netherbrick fences on the bottom topped by a single glowstone. Once the area gets urbanized a bit more, the lamp posts could hang horizontally off of the buildings instead of being freestanding.
Would anybody mind if I terraformed the island at (125,160) near my farm into a 'mushroom island?' I don't want to disturb the aesthetic of the town if people feel it's out of place, but it would make a handy spot to put the farm's mooshrooms (since that island is pretty useless for anything else).

Sigurd, I gather that you're planning on building a bunch of smaller buildings in the town area. If so, can you reserve the ground floor of one of them to be used as a disco? I've got some ideas for some fun redstone lighting effects that I'd like to install somewhere, and the town seems appropriate.

I have decided to blow up my old castle. Well, part of it. I initially planned to make a replica of Osaka Castle, so to make history, I blew it up. There was a gunpowder explosion and fire in 1660, so I made that happen. My castle is now a death trap. Explore at your own peril.
Was not 1660 also the year of the great fire of London?
That fire apparently started by an unguarded fireplace in a bakery and destroyed a mayor part of the city causing a law to be passed that new buildings had to be constructed of stone.
A scary coincidence.

Smaller... whateverdoyoumean? The current building is the smallest of them all.
Jokes aside.
I plan to build an identical building on the same plot next to my current building with a small plaza in between. You could excavate the rest of the sub floor of the current building (entrance facing n00b hotel) for your disco. That wouldn't be too unthinkable compared to today's cities. Make it a bar + disco = nightclub.
Yeah, the subground floor would work well, actually. Leave it as-is and I'll fix it up.

Hello Friends,
I have finally completed the building work on my city house and moved into it.
To celebrate this a little, I am giving a House Warming Part.
There is a cake on the table - please come and help yourself to it.
There is meat and bread and fruit in the little dining room drawer and more food in the kitchen.
Do take a look around. The top floor is not really furbished yet and still in a bit of a mess. But the ground floor is getting comfortable now and just as I hoped it would be. Feel free to take a look everywhere and please sign my guest book.
:clown:
FYI, don't upgrade to 1.5.2 yet. Many of our plugins have not yet been updated and will break if I upgrade. 1.5.2 only includes bug fixes anyway, so I'm not inclined to rush to get it installed.

Does the town project need any donations of netherrack, Nether brick, or quartz?
We could use some netherbrick. I donated about 10 stacks of glowstone for uniform street lamps, but we still need the netherbrick fences to put them on.

Server has been updated to 1.5.2. MobCatcher is not up-to-date with this version and I've had to disable it. I've also moved from PermissionsBukkit to Essentials Group Manager to help me implement the changes to the /home command. It's a bit tricky though and will take me some time to get it working properly. As such, you may not have access to some commands (including /home) for a short bit today.
[edit] Ok, I've sorted out the new permissions system. EnderHome has been removed, permanently. In its place, now everyone has direct access to the /home command. Just type that into the console and you will teleport home just as if you had used an Ender Pearl under the old plugin. You can now also use /sethome to mark your home teleportation location anywhere you want, not just the last bed you slept in.
However, there are now two restrictions. First, there is a 5 second delay on using /home. If you move or take damage in the 5 seconds after you enter the /home command, the teleport will abort. This is because /home is to be used for safe travel, not a get-out-of-lava-death-free card. The server will give you a reminder about this when you type /home, so you don't need to worry about forgetting it.
In addition, /home now has a 30 minute cooldown. If you try to use it less than 30 minutes after your last use, the teleport will not work and you will get a message informing you of how much time is left before you can teleport again. This is a realtime timer and includes time when you're logged off.
Here is a complete list (now also in the OP) of all commands available to all players:
/help - Display information about how to use console commands.
/info - Displays information about the server.
/motd - Displays the Message of the Day (the text you see when you log in).
/rules - Displays the server rules.
/recipe <item> - Displays the recipe for creating the item (e.g. /recipe sign | /recipe stonepick)
/ping - Pong!
/me <text> - Broadcasts an emote.
/msg <playername> <text> - Send a message to another player who is online without it being broadcast globally.
/r <text>/see - Send a message to the last person that messaged you.
/mail - Allows you to send and receive mail (essentially, message people even when they are offline).
/seen <playername> - Tells you how much time has elapsed since the player was last online.
/nick - Allows you to change your in-game display name to something other than your account name. (All nicknames begin with ~)
/realname - Allows you to see the real name of anyone with a nickname.
/hat - Lets you wear any block (not item) as a hat.
/afk - Marks you as AFK
/compass - Displays the compass direction you are facing.
/depth - Displays your distance above/below sea level.
/suicide - Don't do it! You've got so much to live for!
/sethome - Marks your 'home' location where you are standing.
/home - Teleports you to your 'home' location. Will abort if you move or are damaged within 5 seconds of entering the command. Has a 30 minute realtime cooldown.
The first shop project is more or less finished.
There are 5 shops in each building, but one is already used as a nightclub.
The remaining 9 is up for grabs, but you'll have to design the stairs and interior. The stairs should be located in the centre of the buildings.
There is an attic in each building for storage purposes. It comes with full lighting.

I am soon getting to the finishing touch of building 3 (need a half floor on top). If any of you want to participate in the building of the common area, you could start on building 4 or even 5.
Building 4 should be a mirror of 3 with the small plaza in the far left corner (nearest Nigel's place, viewed from the town hall).
Building 5 needs to be as narrow as building 3 to fit into the plot allocated. Design should be classical city 18th century style. Maybe a variant of building 3, but different ground floor?

I have a request I'd like to make. If I want to make my library, I need at least 900 blocks of bookshelves. This means I need at least 2700 leather. Assuming a cow drops 1 leather, that's 2700 cows. If they drop 2 leather, that's 1350 cows. That seems like a lot to me. I don't want to be committing cow genocide just for a library.
So my request is, is it permissible to create a plugin that can make books without leather, like pre 1.3?
Ehhh... I'm not keen on that. There's a way to obtain the materials now, so I'm reluctant to make a shortcut to it. The sand thing was an exception because obtaining sand naturally actively ruined large portions of the world. The same doesn't happen with leather. That said, I'm about to remodel large portions of my farm, and that will include a newly automated abattoir. So, I should be able to help you out with your leather needs.
spankythehippo
05-11-2013, 13:48
I've seen quite a few designs for automated abattoirs. The problem I have with automated abattoirs, and with normal farms for that matter, is the repopulation part. It takes too long, and it thins out the herd too much. I'm not sure if breeding can also be automated. If it could, I would have built the abattoir by now.
Yes, I understand, but it will still make it faster. Regardless, I'll help out and we'll get it all gathered the legit way.

I have around 600 leather, mostly gained recently as I'm trying to get a double chest of cooked steaks (and all meats so that matter). So I'll be getting a lot more in the near future. I'm happy to donate all of it. I've left it in a chest at the mob grinder.
BTW, if you use a sword with looting it increases the drops of leather and raw steak. So you don't necessarily need to cull so many. I have a spare enchanted book with looting 3 if you need it.

Ouch. I can only imagine that happening to my tower, and it wouldn't be a pretty sight.
My only comfort is that carpeting is coming out in a new update. I could use the portal to get back and mitigate some damage but the second floor was in flames before I burnt myself.
Speaking of updates, a few more additions to 1.6:
Mules and donkeys as pack animals (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Horse#Mules_and_donkeys).
Stained (dyed) clay blocks (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Stained_Clay).
Old maps now rotated. Current ones:
August 1, 2012 (https://forums.totalwar.org/minecraft/map1/)
November 12, 2012 (https://forums.totalwar.org/minecraft/map2/)
We switched over the the large circular map in early August 2012, so all maps from here on out will be of the current very large size. I don't have any old backups for September or October 2012, hence the date jump. There are only three more maps after this (Dec '12, Jan '13, Feb '13) and then we're done. Due to the new backup system, I will never have a permanent backup of map states from Feb '13 onwards.
TinCow, the work on my city house has somewhat distracted me from this little project.
But I am still at it. I have now finished with those maps and would be ready to take on the last remaining ones.
And, Ishmael, I have "donated" my cows to the farm. They are much better kept there and looked after than I could do it from my city house. If you don't mind, I will send you my chicken too. Your freerange pens have lots of grassy space and a water pool which should be good for them.

I could use some coal. I have been making charcoal from wood to meet my needs. If you have a surplus, that would safe me a lot of work.
Incidentially, while I was thinking about what to do with the new communal buildings in the plaza area, I thought that perhaps we could turn one of their rooms into a Stock Exchange.
There could be a chest for every player who is interested in taking part - or perhaps even 2 chests per player, one for "offering" and one for "asking". We could also place a writable book there, where players can write down if they need something particular of want something in return for their offerings (e.g. "2 stacks of iron for 3 stacks of glass" or "surplus of sand free for taking").
What do you think?

If that's the case, then all I need is a place to build it and about 500 iron. I need that stuff for the pistons, iron bars and hoppers that this thing will require. Any donations of iron will be appreciated.
EDIT:

The design for this is actually very complex. I understand the basic principle behind it, but it is very fragile. It can't be built underground, because it needs sunlight. It also needs to be very close to the spawn point.
What about this location?

Only if you want it running 24/7. It'll work just fine anywhere, it's just that you'll need to hang out nearby while it runs. Given how much iron it produces, I don't really see that as an issue.

I would think maybe out of the way somewhere, in the same vein as the mob grinder. Whilst it's far from the ugliest grinder ever, it doesn't really fit the theme we're going for with the city, and as TinCow points out it's fast enough to not need to be located near near a point of constant activity.
Maybe we can make an off-shore industrial park near to the harbour area (there is a chunk-error cliff there anyway) or on the little island west of the harbour, where the two raillines cross.
I actually have currently a very strange problem with lag.
I dont seem to be able to move away from my house for more than a certain distance until lag becomes so bad that I cannot do a single step anymore. It goes North half way up to therother's folly and South half way to Csargo's gate. Then it drops to 1 frame per 20 seconds (at least it feels like that) and I have to /home to get out of it. Once I am home it is better again.

That should be far enough. The iron farm border has a relatively short radius from the iron farm itself. It should be within the confines of the island.
The town buildings needs stair cases.. I was thinking those who wanted to use these buildings built these as a part of the interior decoration.
In the two angular buildings the stairs should be around the inverted corner (wall with no windows). In the other two, the stairs should be located at center point. That way, the stairs divide the floors in two - Two shops on each floor.
(roughly where the ladders are today)
After chewing through an estimated 80 stacks of rails, I've finished laying two rail lines to my Statue Gardens (creative naming isn't really my thing), from my city and Sigurd's castle. I'm thinking I might do a tour of the rail network now, seeing as I've never really traveled along it further than Tincow's old place.

Awesome! I'll travel the new sections myself and then update the rail map. I've actually been thinking lately of laying a new line from my place to the southern islands, to both open up a rail line to those areas and to turn my lonely extension into a loop. I was thinking of taking a new line directly east from my place and then stopping in at rickinator's island and the island where spanky wants to build the iron farm, and then curving around to spanky's Japanese island and Tiaexz's first village, before linking in to your city. A branch could then come off that to Csargo's new castle.

I want to build a subway to the 'Hub' whenever I have the time and whenever I have enough rails. I think I will do it in the summer holidays. I don't really like the railroads that scatter the world. They are too obvious and don't blend in well with nature.
Now that my city house if finished, I have started my travels around the world.
One of the first places I visited is danhoff's ranch, which is located East of the central city, between the spawn point and the place for the harbour (250:170).
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=9295&d=1369772489
That is a very nice place with rustic, country style buildings and a huge stable for cattle farming.
The brick building is somewhat more modern and not quite complete. But there is a coffee dispenser in the entrance hall, which is a very nice thing if you return from long travels, or alternatively, want to grab a cup in the morning before going out for a long working day.

Other than the obvious (it's easier to build) I think the reason for above ground versus below ground rapid transit is that it's a much less mind-numbing experience for the passenger. A long ride on a scenic railway is a lot more tolerable than a long ride in a tunnel...

... Depends on the tunnel.
I have terraformed a 52x52 square immediately to the north of the town hall. I know we wanted to keep the terrain in the city area natural, but there's no way I can build the space needle on a slope. I've leveled off that area to the same level as the existing town hall and the adjacent buildings, and I'll sculpt the edges of it to make it a bit more natural looking.

Maybe we should do another plaza on the property in front of it? I have been agonizing over the in-proportional layout of the two and two identical buildings. Seems no-one wants to build town houses?

I'll definitely be building a town house (or town building, anyway - I haven't decided yet what style I'd want), but I wouldn't want to start building until plots are divvied up so that I don't inadvertently hog all the space. It might be a good idea for people who intend to build on a plot in the city to indicate so, in order for us to get a better idea of how much space will be available per person. Unless we just want to expand outwards as much as necessary, and not worry about allocating land?
Incidentally, is there any grunt work that needs doing for the city? I just spent an hour building a staircase and still don't like the look of it, so creativity obviously isn't my thing, but I'm happy to help with simple tasks in order to put off starting another project.
Last thing, were the MobCatcher and Piston Chest plugins removed because they were crashing the server, or because they weren't updated to the latest Bukkit version? I can't quite recall.

Meh, I'd prefer more buildings than another plaza. Cities are made of buildings and that's what we need more of. In any case, the Space Needle will not take up the entire plot I just built. There will be significant green spaces left around it and between its supports, and we can turn those into more garden/plaza type areas. Non-proportional layouts don't bother me. No cities are symmetrical, no need for ours to be.

The basic idea of the city is that people build what they wish, within the bounds of creating a more dense urban environment. What you build is kind of up to you. If you want to do basic stuff, there's still plenty of roads to lay and land to light up with torches. If you want to do architectural stuff, you can pick an area and start building something (like I've just done for the space needle). If you want to do more subtle stuff, you could decorate the interiors of the existing buildings. Even the town hall never quite got finished on the inside.
Last thing, were the MobCatcher and Piston Chest plugins removed because they were crashing the server, or because they weren't updated to the latest Bukkit version? I can't quite recall.
MoBCatcher was incompatible with the current version. There is a version out now that works with our version, but it's got an error that makes every single mob you place permanently display is name (i.e. Chicken, Cow) over its head. That seems annoying to me, so I've been holding off until the dev fixes that issue. He in turn has been putting off the fix until Bukkit puts out a beta build of 1.5.2, which hasn't happened yet.
PistonChest was removed because it's become redundant in my mind. I installed it as a way to push items into chests, which wasn't possible before. With the addition of hoppers and droppers, that is now possible in vanilla MC, and in a way that's far better and more versatile than PistonChest. As such, I felt that PistonChest was no longer needed. While I understand that this has removed the ability to auto-harvest cobble and smooth stone, those aren't exactly difficult materials to obtain.
.... Seems no-one wants to build town houses?
I would not expect this to happen overnight (or not in a couple of weeks either).
People surely are busy on whatever projects they are currently working on and it is not as if their town house is something they urgently need - it is more of a convenience thing. So building them will happen slowly one after the other. I only started on it, since it was my first project and I had nothing else lined up.
One thing that would help and encourage, though, could be if we start allocating landplots. That way we can see what areas will be dedicated to personal city houses and what can be used for communal or monumental buildings. Also, if you have claimed a plot, you are more likely to get started on it (at least that would be true for myself).
But how we would allocate plots, sell, auction, vote, give away, allocate by divine power, I have no idea.
But how we would allocate plots, sell, auction, vote, give away, allocate by divine power, I have no idea.
I say plots can be claimed by the first person who develops it, with no other limitations. The objective is to grow the city, so anyone who's willing to work on it should be able to take any land they're going to actually start working on. That's essentially what I just did for the space needle.

So instead of allocating plots, what if anyone can make plots anywhere and any size? I initially thought having grids would be the best solution, but you mentioned that cities aren't symmetrical, so that makes it a lot easier to build a multitude of different buildings.
If the plot sizes were roughly the same, it limits the potential of the building. Having an appropriately portioned plot for a building is the way to go, me thinks. Of course, there will be very small plots sandwiched between plots. With some ingenuity, those can become buildings or green spaces.
Goddamn... I just lost my best pick axe to the 5 min rule, forgetting it on an anvil while checking what the cost would be to repair it. It's just sad when you check your inventory and see it is missing and then run to the anvil just to see that it is gone... then you try to fix it by enchanting your second best pick axe with the single enchanted book you have with silk touch just to experience that it didn't transfer to your pick axe anyway.. but it still used up your enchanted book and took out a chunk of your experience.
Damn... need a break.
Phew...
A few lucky rounds in the end did the trick and I was able to recreate my best pick-axe setup. :beam:
Glad to hear you got it back - or atleast rebuild, Sigurd.
I have finally packed my things together, bought a rail ticket and come to visit your castle. A fantastic place.
And it is huge.
I am moving carefully so as not to get lost in it. Currently sleeping under the stairs by the portcullis.
Server down @ 10:40 am (GMT+1)
Server is having issues, I cannot seem to restart it remotely. I've opened a ticket with the host.
Wow.. Still down... 22:40 GMT+1
That is a full 12 hours. And I thought Germans were on the ball.

Yeah, I know. I'm getting pretty annoyed with them, I've had no response at all. I've been considering changing hosts and this experience is certainly making such a decision more likely.
Well, I hope you have the backups on your harddisk at home.
For their benefit, keep in mind that it is middle of the night in Europe at the moment, so I would not expect anyone to be working on it right now.
Still that is no good excuse for 12 hours downtime for someone offering a service to an international customer base.
If they are a serious hosting provider, 12 hours is unforgivable.
Maybe we should get Hus to phone them?
A 12 hour denial of service could be a hacker attack, some idiot road contractor digging up the line - or they've had their hardware seized due to piracy activities.
Maybe Germany has a power outing due to floods. I know they worried about this last week.
I cannot even find any contact info for them other than an email address and a mailing address, and they're not responding to any emails or support tickets I open. I will definitely be moving to a different service ASAP, but unfortunately I do not have a recent backup of the world other than on the server. The best I've got access to is a few weeks old. I run daily backups, but they are also stored on the server and it never occurred to me that I would be totally unable to access the server for days at a time like this. So we're kind of in a bind, forced to wait for the server to come back up so that I can pull the files off of it and move them elsewhere.
I'm really sorry about this situation.
The down time started pretty much exactly around 10:35-40 AM GMT+1 (German time) 11th of June 2013.
I was on the server when it happened. I was the only one in the game. I was shearing my white sheep when everything froze and I lost connection.

If you were alone on the server, in what way were you sharing your sheap? :sweatdrop: :whip: :laugh4:
Get yer own... these are mine!! .. well.. you can have the ones marked with X :sneaky:
The server is back online.
Mobcatcher re-enabled. I have tweaked it somewhat for balance with the server economy. It costs 5 emeralds to capture non-hostile mobs and 1 ghast tear to capture hostile mobs. These resources must be in your inventory when you attempt the capture, or it will not work.
I am now working on finding a new server host. I am probably going to move to a dedicated server instead of a VPS to improve performance.
Great news, that the servers is back online.
Do yo think you could copy a safegame to your computer in Washington?
It would be a shame is something more dramatic than a few days of downtime happened to the server that we are entrusting with our little world; especially now that so much work has gone into the Space Needle and other projects.
The first thing I did after the server came back up was to grab a full backup of the server. I'll be sure to do that regularly until we move.
:2thumbsup:
How silly of me to even ask.
The rollercoaster of Funcowland is brilliant, by the way.
I am not sure if it is intentional, that your coat catches fire when you go over that lava field, but it sure adds to the trill. Glad the cart goes fast enough afterwards to blow it out again eventually.

For those who know what this means, please ping 188.165.240.210 and let me know what your results are. That IP is on a host I am considering moving the server to, and I'd like to know how it responds for you guys. It's an improvement for me and I suspect it will be for almost everyone, but I'd like to double-check.

293ms for the new one compared to 313ms for the old, so it's a slight improvement for me.

So, I guess this means nothing much is going to change for me.
By the way, Sigurd, I build a little wooden shack next near your castle. It is a light and temporary affair, that can be taken down again easily, when I move out again. But I also saw that the streets there have a grid like structure, so I thought, perhaps you want a village in that area anyway.
I also sheared some sheep (to get wool - just in case anyone asks...) and left you 4 stacks in the box near the while sheep. Took one stack for myself. Did some lumbering, too.
I get about a 20ms improvement on the new IP. From 110's on the old down to the 90's.
Hey guys, I've only got about a week's worth the Minecraft experience under my belt, but I just discovered this thread. Yeah, I am planning to build a small village around my castle. I will however build larger buildings and of stone.
The castle need more security in the form of walls and gates. I am also building a grotto under the castle that will enable players to enter the village by water.
Since this is a survival server, it takes time to gather all the resources needed and keep your shovel/pick-ax/ wood-ax sharp. I don't know how many stacks of wool I have used, but I usually shear in one go about 15 stacks worth, and it get used up fairly quickly.
I also sheared some sheep (to get wool - just in case anyone asks...) and left you 4 stacks in the box near the while sheep. Took one stack for myself. Did some lumbering, too.
Yeah.. anyone that needs wool are free to shear, as long as they leave some behind. The castle is very hungry for wool and oak.

Thanks Papewaio,

The server appears to be down again in the same way as last time. I haven't had time to get a new one up and running yet but I will be working on that this weekend. Hopefully by Sunday we won't have to deal with our current host anymore.

This is my story exactly – although I have slightly more time playing and have not been able to see the map (is it also on the server? The links just time out for me).
I am interested in playing.

Both maps are on the server, and the server remains down. The moment it comes back up I'm going to download all the files, shut down the server, and move it to a new host. I'm optimistic that it will be back up and stable again by the end of this weekend.

Made a quick little world. Didn't find any horses but I did have plenty of sheep and flowers. So dyed wool it was and made a checkerboard white and yellow underground lair.
You can't put items on top of wool like beds or fence posts. But you can put carpet on top of fence posts to make tables with a table cloth. Also if you put a second carpet on top it is place one whole block higher. It means you can create freestanding colored empty shelves.
At present you can't put a door and carpet in the same square. My next experiment will be carpet on snow.
Game seems more dangerous. Food bar seems to diminish quicker and I've seen more spider jockies in one gaming session then all my prior games. So night travel is more dangerous.
It seems that viewing distance has increased and underground it is dim, but not impossible to see.
=][=
Creepers seem to be self exploding at a distance. In my travels over 3000 blocks I found about half a dozen fresh creeper craters. I know they are fresh because blocks are still spinning in them and I didn't see the explosion.

Ugh... bad timing for the people who want to join. The server is still down, sorry. I could put it back up quickly on a different host, but we would lose approximately 10 days of work. I haven't been on much either. Plus everything I've been working on is simple to replace.
I haven't been on for a couple of weeks I think, so no problems from me.
With that said, the server was only down for a week or so last time, wasn't it? By the time everybody checks in here to OK a rewind it will probably be back up again anyway.
I am happy with either way.
All I did in the last 10 days was to travel on from Sigurd's Castle to Ishmael's Garden Statue - just looking around in amazement, not actually building anything.
That said, it is probably Sigurd himself that you may want to talk to. It seems he is currently working on the interior or his castle a lot.
If Sigurd will lose a lot, I can give him creative mode temporarily to allow him to quickly replace what was lost. We did the same thing when the Arena and surrounding areas were lost about a year ago.
Either way, I'm currently in the process of getting the new server setup. The new server host uses an entirely different management system from the old one (which was just shell access) so it'll take me a bit of time to get used to it and get our server working again. Maybe we'll get lucky and the old server will come back up while I'm working on the new one. Once the new once is setup it would be a simple process to update the map with the version on the old server.
The server is online for testing purposes on the new host at 176.31.100.30:25670. Feel free to connect and play as you'd like, but please be aware that I am still testing the setup and it's not final yet. I cannot guarantee that anything you build there won't be overwritten later. Dynmap is online for that server here (http://176.31.100.30:8123/), but I'm still working on Overviewer and it's not available yet.

Woah.. that is indeed an old snapshot of the server.
I removed the oak forest behind my castle right before I did a major renovation of the central keep underneath the tower.
The best thing would be to get the current save from the offline server, when it gets up... if it coincide with the end of testing the new server.

As a heads-up, my rental term for the old server is up on July 6th. There is no way in hell I am giving those people any more of my money, so after July 6th my rights to that server will be gone. If the server does not come back up before then, I won't be able to pull the map off of it and there will be no other option but to use the one that I've got running on the new server right now. I think that situation is unlikely, but given the atrocious quality of service provided by the old host, I am growing increasingly concerned that it may happen.

There's like, 20 animals penned into each meter squared. It looks like the PETA HQ.
Large numbers of animals are required for mass farming of resources. Sheep are needed for wool and cattle are needed for leather. Any project that requires large amounts of wool blocks or bookshelves will need equally large numbers of animals. Pigs and chickens aren't good for much these days other than food (arrows are more easily obtained from the various xp farms), but some of us keep them as well for those purposes.

Ok, but there doesnt seem to be any lack of pigs cows and chickens running around all over the place, they keep falling down my mine shaft and I even found a sheep wandering around a chasm I found just over the bedrock level.
The server seems to be lagging out for some reason, when I join I walk a few steps and with each step I loose 10 frames untill it stops alltogether, I suspect it might have something to do with the out of control animal population.

So if we download 1.6 can I retrograde and play it on a server running an earlier version?

Yeah.. there seems to be an infestation of farm animals everywhere. The n00b hotel is full of pigs, cattle, sheep and chickens.
My castle grounds is usually serenity... today I found it like this:

No lags on my end BTW.

This sounds like a Bukkit bug. I'll take a look at it when I get home. Massive numbers of animals can also cause server lag, so they could be related. Once I fix this I will roll back the overworld map to remove the animals.
This is issue is at least partially due to the new server, I don't have direct control over which JAR we're running at the moment and have been experimenting with various setups. This is one of the reasons I needed some more testing time and didn't promise not to overwrite any work just yet. I'll get the situation sorted out though, our new hosts are (so far) very helpful and responsive.
[edit]Hosts have given me direct control over the jar, so we shouldn't run into this issue again.
[edit2]Server changed over to the lastest RB from the busted DB we were using before. Restoring the overworld to its state prior to the animal orgy now, it will be back online again in about 30 mins.

I logged on for the first time in forever and enjoyed it.
I’d like to build a masonic temple in our city… as it stands I see two options:
1. Use one of the upper floors of the buildings already built behind the hotel. The layout is not perfect (need and E/W layout with entrance on the W side) but could be managed with a minor move of an interior staircase. The top floor on any of the buildings could work.
Question is – are there any objections to using one of these buildings for this purpose?
2. Build a new building from scratch just for the lodge. A good site would be on the far side of the capitol. This would take much more time and effort – but would be a new building for the city.
Question here is – are the building materials I have seen in many of the chests around town up for grabs, or would I need to procure my own materials?
What option does everyone think is best?
Also - does anyone have an enchanting table I could use, or the materials to build one? That would be perfect for the altar in the middle of the room.
Well I've lost all my stuff and I spawned in a lava chamber without any walkways, but I have to say the server is working alot better now.
Sorry about that. I'll reimburse you, just let me know what you lost.

The floors of all of those buildings are free for anyone to develop as they see fit. If you're willing to do the work on them, go nuts.
Question here is – are the building materials I have seen in many of the chests around town up for grabs, or would I need to procure my own materials?
The chests in front of the town hall contain materials donated for use by anyone developing the town, so feel free to use whatever you want. There are also more chests with items in the Boiler Room of the town hall, which is accessed by a trap door in the floor on the left side of the entryway. The chest on the Space Needle plot are my own resources that I transported there for construction of that building. I don't remember what's there, but you're welcome to use whatever you want. There are also basic resources available in the Noob Hotel which were placed there specifically to help people get started on the server.
What option does everyone think is best?
New buildings are always more impressive IMO, but they're also a lot more work so I think that decision is more up to you.
Also - does anyone have an enchanting table I could use, or the materials to build one? That would be perfect for the altar in the middle of the room.
Sure, I'll supply one for you, just let me know where to drop it off. Alternatively, you're welcome to take the materials from my workroom if you don't mind the hike out there.
Thanks! I have a room at the hotel on the first level of rooms. You could just drop it there if you are in the neighborhood.
I have an issue though. It seems that the game locks up for me (or otherwise has serious lag) when I go too far East. I have repeated this by going down the steps to the East of the space needle a couple of times (died there once). Just after going down the steps, bang! insurmountable lag. This happens to me a little farther South as well earlier, but I haven't been back there to replicate exactly where it happens.
Thoughts on what might be happening?
Normally I have a little lag (every few seconds it will skip) even though I ping the server at ~116ms.
Server shows full to almost full signal.
Are there any settings on my end that may be impacting this? If I play a single player game it is smooth as glass.
I have no idea what could cause that, but I'll look into it when I get home in a few hours.
This sounds very similar to a problem I had some weeks ago.
It went away after a while. Well, therother restarted the server, but I dont know if we can say that that did the trick or if it was something else. But in any case, the symptoms sound familiar.
On a different note:
Do we still hope that we can recover the safegame from the old server before TinCows contract expires on the 6th? If so, we may wait just a few more days before starting a mayor building project.
When I logged on the dance floor in the disco was on, and that causes major lag. That was likely the problem. I love the thing, but it's not something that should be left on permanently, so make sure you always turn it off after you're done playing around in there.

Do me a favour and backup the files before you do so, I dont want to end up losing yet another base.
Damnable... I would really like to send these goons a few expletives. It’s so unacceptable that I have difficulties to decide just which level of incompetence they belong under.
I have a sneaky feeling they are the new generation.
It’s telling that I am getting old, complaining on the young and their sheer disrespect for established etiquette. I don’t care - Someone should just slap these loiters over the head.. GTF back to work.
I feel like I have lost months worth of work. It’s not something easily replaced.
I look at my tools and realize they are of old worn out stock. Where are the hours spent gathering exp and renewing them? Where are the new fantastic tools I made – those with lucky enhancements?
Where are the new floors in the square keep? The removed and remodeled staircases are still there, unfinished.
The freshly built walls and ceilings are simply not there… untold stacks of sheared wool are still sitting on grass eating backs.
The last efforts to mine resources are lost in time and the stuff gathered are still sitting in the bedrock.
And people are spending time on an old snapshot of the server, making it increasingly difficult to move back to the what-should-be-the-current game.
It’s depressing.
My wife just pulled Elise off Minecraft.
We were on the roof of the square keep shooting mobs with bow and arrow, when we were ambushed by zombies. My fantastic bow, takes down most mobs with one shot, but Elise got pushed off the roof and died, apparently that scared her to the degree that she had trouble sleeping last night.
I recovered her gear as I thought that was what she was worried about. But apparently she is still a little too young to let such things go.
Yeah.. you fall off stuff and die, but you're back on your feet and can continue in a beat... the real loss is if you can't recover your gear.
I am like: get back up on that horse... let's not make this a traumatic incident. Learn and move on. My wife is unfortunately of the more protective type.
I am not gonna debate a mother with cubs... that is just insane. I have talked it through with Elise, explaining that it is to be expected to have such incidents and that all is ok. We recovered all her stuff and there was really no loss.

I had to rebuild the entire Arena. THE ENTIRE ARENA. That was an actual month of work, not just two weeks. Take my word for it, it goes MUCH faster with creative mode. Frankly, I'm prepared to declare the old server a total lost cause now so if you'd like I can give you access to creative to make your repairs now. I'm going to need to do the same, as a lost all of the improvements I made to the outside of the Arena, as well as a lot of interior decorating in my lair.

Right... so what are the rules while in creative mode? Just redo what you lost and fill up the coffers with the materials you dug out of the castle (I removed a lot of stone floors and rebuilt new in wood)?

Do whatever you feel is appropriate to replace what was lost, including rebuilding and replacing lost materials. It does not need to be precise and if for some reason the final result is a bit different than it was before that's perfectly fine. The point is to make replacing what was lost as painless as possible. Just let me know when you're finished and I'll disable the mode. If it helps, I started using creative this morning to replace the work I lost around the Arena and in my lair.
@Sigurd (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/member.php?u=5461) You should have the ability to use creative mode now. To turn it on, just type /gamemode c and to turn it off type /gamemode s. Let me know if that doesn't work. Also, let me know whenever you're done replacing what was lost.

I've enclosed my rail line so that shouldn't be a problem.
FYI, the old host suspended my account promptly this morning for failure to pay my bill. Such a shame that they couldn't be so prompt with service requests. In any case, that's the final word on recovering the work that was lost.
Server updated to a dev build of 1.6.1. This is more likely to be buggy than a Beta or RB, so please let me know if you see something odd. So far, MobCatcher and RebalanceVillagers are not compatible with this version, so they are temporarily disabled. WorldBorder works, but it's having issues with horses and boats, so please do not go near the world border on a horse or in a boat for now. A fix for WorldBorder is expected soon.
[edit] The server had noticeable lag after the upgrade, and I believe it was caused by the new version of Dynmap. I have thus rolled Dynmap back to the old 1.5.2 version and the server feels smoother again. I will keep Dynmap at the old version until the dev fixes this issue, which means that the new blocks in 1.6 won't display properly on the map until then.
[edit2] I was experiencing a fair amount of 'sluggish' lag on the server. My video drivers were only about 3 months old, but updating them made a huge difference and the game now runs very smoothly for me. This is probably related to the major texture pack overhaul that was included in 1.6. If anyone else feels like they're moving through molasses when they're playing, try updating your drivers.

So I accidentally updated to 1.6.2. When the server isn't showing that it's on version 1.3 it tells me that .2 isn't compatible.
I should be able to update the server to 1.6.2 pretty soon, possibly this afternoon. However, the new launcher allows you to change your version. On the initial launcher, just select the old 1.6.1 jar and play with that until I get the server up to 1.6.2.
I am currently stuck in a very strange bug.
I traveled by rail from the Noob Hotel to the Arena.
When I arrived there, I was unable to leave the minecart. I could move the minecart for a few meters by pressing "W", but nothing seemed to be able to get me out of it - even trying to teleport home did not help.
Now I am stuck in the minecart inside the rail system near the Arena station at -101 : 80 (hight 55).
I also tried to destroy the minecart, but that didnt work either.
If anyone could get me out, I would be grateful.
The server is now running the earliest dev build of 1.6.2. Unfortunately the speed of this update means that a couple more plugins are temporarily offline until they get updated. As of now, RebalanceVillagers, MobCatcher, and SilkSpawners are offline.
[edit] On the positive side, now that 1.6.2 is installed, some odd lag issues (such as during block placement) appear to have been fixed.

Did you remember that the button to get out of a minecart is now 'left shift'? I missed the little prompt that came up myself, and the fact that I normally get out of minecarts by breaking them got me stuck for a good five minutes.
Thanks Ishmael, that did the trick.
I must say, I totally overlooked that little note.
Well, I guess rail travel got a lot safer now. Less chance to accidentially fall out.
Still it feels good to be able to sleep in a bed tonight. That minecart was rather a bit uncomfortable.
So has anybody managed to get horses to spawn yet? I've spent several hours now systematically slaughtering every animal in my nearby plains biome, but still no luck. I get the feeling that the area is pitted by enough ravines and open caves that I can't quite find and kill enough passive mobs in order to get the number below 10 in the spawning area. I said all over the map, that's of course an overstatement. However, I did a fairly long walkabout and followed this route in the hopes that there might be horses where no man has ever ventured.

I assume its a technical issue but not 100% time based.
Reason being with the funnels (hoppers) they are missing but not the furnace or chests that interconnected them.
With the quartz the chiseled rings I made are missing the underside. I dug out the earth above where the ring was and instead of quartz it was air. Which would mean it is likely to be a technical glitch. The main one now has a shelf of rock hovering over where the underside was. So if someone had mined the first one it would have been difficult as it is above a lava stream and in investigating it I lost some of the earth covering and the grass. So I think it is some sort of database glitch. Other items that I built later are still there.
Luck has it that my lapis floored library is in tact.

Pretty sure well before then as most of it was done three months ago.
Main reason is that I had something always supporting the earth be it nether rock or above a chasm nether brick. In this instance I swapped out the brick for a ring of quartz at the -100m mark. So the earth should not have been there as the supporting surface was gone.
The hoppers where connecting to a large chest and a furnace on top of it with a hopper on top of that with a feeder chest on top again within a chimney. He chimney was built last. The building, chimney, chests and furnace are still there, whilst the connecting hoppers have disappeared.
That's bizarre. I cannot think of anything that would have caused that, barring someone actually coming out there and removing them. The blocks that you list as missing (hoppers and quartz) were added by the same update, so I guess it's possible that something deleted blocks from that update in a certain area of the map including your place... but I have never heard of such a thing happening and have no idea how it could. Could it possibly be a display error, where you are using some kind of texture pack that doesn't have those items in it, thus making them not visible even though they are still there? Can you place things in the spots where they should be?
If they actually are gone, you are welcome to restore anything that was lost from my supplies; I have plenty of quartz and iron for hoppers. Please let me know if you see anything else that looks wrong.

That's spanky's. He wasn't entirely satisfied with it, and IIRC the castle it was based on was heavily damaged in a battle. FYI, I went exploring for some horse and also failed to find any. However, I've been doing some googling and it appears that they take some work to spawn in existing (pre-1.6) biomes. Apparently you need to just run around a plains area and slaughter every passive mob you see. If you kill enough of the things eventually horses may spawn. I have not tried this yet, but the internet says it is true and when has the internet ever been wrong about anything?
[edit] I ran around some plains biomes slaughtering everything and had no luck. The internet suggests using fence to enclose as large an area of plains as possible, then lighting the entire area with torches and slaughtering everything inside until horses appear. Apparently passive mob spawning rare are very low, and horses are rare even within passive mobs, so it can take a very long time for them to appear even if you've slaughtered the passive mobs to keep it under the spawn cap.

That's kind of good. I assumed once you wiped out a passive mob they were gone. I'm going to bring lots of charcoal on my horse expedition.
Passive mobs spawn VERY slowly, but they do spawn. However, they will only spawn if the passive mob cap is not maxed out, and passive mobs do not despawn. That's why the animals don't seem to change in an area under normal conditions. If you're not killing them, nothing new is spawning. Thus, if an area doesn't have any horses it never will have any horses unless you kill off the existing passive mobs to make room for new spawns. However, even then horses spawn at a much lower rate than anything else, so it will take a long time.
Dont suppose you could spawn some with host powers?
I will do so if there's there's some kind of bug with the server that's preventing them from spawning. However, if it's simply because they are very rare and hard to get, then I think it should be appropriately difficult to get them.

I will do so if there's there's some kind of bug with the server that's preventing them from spawning. However, if it's simply because they are very rare and hard to get, then I think it should be appropriately difficult to get them.
I played a single player map and I found about 20+ in a plains biome, I suggest we focus the cull on the map's plains and if they dont show up in a day or two them we spawn some.

If it isn't a bug but just super rare then I'm fine waiting.
Spawning diminished the value.
If I want my little ponies in sparkling gemstone armour I can play creative. Actually after putting it that way, I think super rare is a good thing. ;)
I have started putting a fence around the plains north of my castle. I am however leaving for the Mediterranean today and won't be online the next week or so. If anyone wants in on the project they could continue fencing it in. It should be devoid of life already.
I actually reside in my little wood hut near your castle at the moment.
Will have a go at continuing your fences next week.
Enjoy your time in the Med. Should be nice and sunny there now.
Ok, I spent several hours lighting a huge plains area outside my lair. Must have used about 40 stacks of torches. I also slaughtered everything within a massive radius of the place, but even after hours of waiting nothing new spawned at all, let alone horses. In an attempt to figure out what was going wrong, I used admin powers to teleport myself to a remote plains island. I killed everything on the island and there were no other nearby islands which should have been interfering with the spawns, but nothing would spawn there either. I've checked all settings and plugins and I cannot find anything that would be preventing horses from spawning. Maybe they can spawn in the world as we have it, but if I can't get one to spawn after hours of work then even if it is possible it's way too hard. As such, I have used creative mode to solve the problem...
I have teleported myself around the world and spawned about 20 herds of horses. Each herd is about 6-10 in size, and they are all on planes biomes. None are close to existing structures. So, go out on an expedition to explore the world and you might be able to find them now. If you don't, keep looking; they are out there!
Would anybody know if name tags can be acquired on this server? As it stands they can only be found in dungeons, but I'm not sure if dungeon chest contents are generated with the world, or only when you open them. If the former, I'd imagine we're out of luck.

As of now, no they cannot. As you pointed out, they can only be obtained from dungeon chests and all dungeon chests in the world already exist with their contents already selected by a previous version of Minecraft. In order to add name tags we would need to make the world larger, regenerate parts of the world, or get a custom crafting recipe to make them craftable.

Would it be possible, perhaps, to get a custom crafting plugin whereby 1 saddle = 1 name tag? Considering they're both intended to be primarily found in dungeons it shouldn't skew the balance too much.

Found some horses... now to go get my saddles.

Yes, but I had another idea this morning. I could install a multiworld plugin to enable us to travel between Minecraft 'worlds.' I could then create a second normal world that is smaller, perhaps with a radius of 2000. That world would be generated under current Minecraft standards, and thus everything could be found there, including name tags. The world would ONLY be for mining/obtaining resources, not for building structures. Every time the game introduced new items that could not be found in our main world, I would delete and recreate the 'Mineworld' so that the new items were available there.

That would certainly take care of one of the most annoying parts of updates.

Also mean we would have an area we wouldn't worry about strip mining and shearing sheep errr you know what I mean.

Yep. An entire world to completely exploit without any concerns or regrets. The only caveat would be that since it would exist to be wiped and reset, nothing should be constructed there that anyone cares about losing. I'd recommend some kind of central mining/living structure just for convenience, but nothing so elaborate that it couldn't be rebuilt in an hour after a wipe.

Yeah, mining camps with creeper defences. At least creepers aren't destroying terrain in our world... one killed me the other night though :[
Hmmm... to balance out the 'free resources' aspect of the alternate world, we could make it more interesting by setting the mining world to Hard difficulty (as opposed to Normal on the main world) and keeping Creeper block destruction on. Would people find that exciting or perhaps overkill?

I like. I really like. It should also only be regenerated when a new resource or mob is added that wouldn't other wise be available in the primary world.

That sounds like an interesting twist on things.
It certainly would make the "cheap new resources" not quite so cheap
How would we travel to the mining world?
Would there be a central portal somewhere? Or perhaps several protals conveniently spread around the world?
Or would everyone get the right to select one portal to be placed at his/her chosen location?
Started work on the Masonic lodge. Just E of the town hall. If anyone is bored feel free to continue to build it out. I am building it in a similar style as the other large buildings on the other side of the town hall. Two stories.
Had to log off quickly so ignore my dirt piles. (or get rid of them if you work on it!)
EDIT: If you do help please hold off on adding the second story. I have a spiral staircase I want to build with a certain amount if steps and want to make sure the floor is at the right height.
Also - what's the best way to go about getting a couple of stacks of blue carpet?
TC: thanks for the enchanting table!

A lot of blue sheep.
Given that lapis is non-renewable. Best option is to get two sheep and colour them blue and start a breeding program. You can easily double a herd every 2 game days. So in 40 mins those 2 sheep will be 8 in number.
I'll supply the blue carpet for you. I've got large numbers of all colors of sheep You just need two stacks of regular blue?
Thanks! I haven't done the math yet, but I think 2 should be enough. It is for the carpet in the lodge room itself*. Regular blue is perfect. You can leave it in my room in the hotel whenever you get a chance. It will be a little bit before I need them.
*Regular Masonic Lodges are called Blue Lodges, and is where the first three degrees are earned. A lot of lodges don't have a blue floor, but mine actually does and it is a pretty nice touch (along with all the antique furniture in the lodge room itself).
And yes, I am a Freemason.

Wow. So I just took three stacks of pistons and repeaters into a lava bath. So pissed.
I have to remember not do that when digging from the bottom up.
I have moved out of the hotel and am living in the basement of the lodge for now. It also looks like I'll need 3-4 stacks of blue carpet, having now done the math. The building is almost complete and I have started to fit out the interior a little bit.
Ok - lodge room upstairs complete for the most part. Feel free to go check it out.
Thanks for the carpet TC!

I've tamed two horses and a donkey.
Very fast movement ... Plains can be quite dangerous due to chasms... Water is a pain in the ass ;)

Hehe, I guess what you want to do is: explore on foot and then build a "trade route" along which you can travel fast on horseback.

Have about half a dozen horses, a donkey and a mule. All in a stable, need to expand it to breed more mules.
Would like to get another donkey and increase that population above endangered as they are more useful then horses and mules can't replicate.
FYI, a friend of ours who has been playing on the server lately found one of the herds on a remote island. He doesn't have an account on the Org, so I'm posting his screenshot of the location. He's fenced them in but anyone is free to take/breed/tame them.

I met him the other day on the server and he asked me for a saddle.
Therefor I created an Exchange Box for him at the Stock Exchange (Plaza building 2) where he can pick it up. Since he does not have an Org account, TinCow, perhaps you can let him know next time you speak to him.
By the way, any chance of getting the High Resolution Map back up?
There has been a lot of building activity lately and I would love to see that in HighRes.
Anyone have a spare couple of quartz steps they wouldn't mind parting with? I am building a monument/park east of the lodge and couldt find enough quartz in the nether today. I only need 2.

I should have some. I'll drop them over there sometime today.
EDIT: I must also confess some curiosity as to what "F+AM" means.
Awesome. Thanks!
F&AM stands for Free and Accepted Masons. I wanted to put the square and compass on the roof, but just didn't have the space.
Glad to see that someone saw it, as it was entirely meant to be viewed in the real-time map.

I will try and work on that in the near future. I've been very busy lately; I started a new job on Monday which is eating up a lot of my weekday time and I'm going to be out of town this coming Friday through Sunday. I will try and find time to get it back online the following weekend.
Thanks for the quartz Ishmael!
I have started to make a river-walk path along the North side of the river that runs near the city. Ideally it will stretch from one end of the city to the other. It is really basic at the moment, but would like to pretty it up with nice light fixtures and greenery. We can also have small parks along the way in places that buildings won't be. I would love for others help out with this project.
We also need to start thinking of how we cross the river and where the bridge would be. I believe that we slated the hills south of the town hall and lodge to be an old-town of sorts. Anyone want to take a stab at a design aesthetic for buildings on that side of the river? Perhaps we make those more residential/lower density than the bigger buildings around the town hall.
Lastly - a question. After riding the rails some, I am quite impressed by the raised train track. Is there an easy way to build out into open space, or do you have to do it one careful step at a time so you don't fall to your death?

How would people feel about using an HD render of the realtime map instead of the separate Overviewer map? Here (http://finiah.mcnode.net:8123/) is an example of the realtime map with the isometric view rendered at a higher resolution and with a better viewing angle. (Select world -> Surface) Changing our realtime map to look like that would be significantly easier than setting up Overviewer on the new server, so if those results are acceptable that would be a preferable alternative.

I thought that map was Orgcraft. I was surprised to see how much it changed, until I realised it was a completely different map. I also saw the Iron Trench on that map. Speaking of which, my time is being heavily consumed by work and by the time I get home, I'm mentally fatigued. I have delayed building the Iron Trench until my mind can handle it. Which might take a while. Hopefully, I can start it next week.

Dynmap can do a night render as well.
I think the Dynmap is great for every day use. It would be nice to have the higher resolution one every once in a while, say once a month or so. The aspect ratio is different and makes for prettier screen shots and a good look at the detail that has gone into everyone’s buildings.
No idea if that is easy to do every once in a while or not… but like I said the one we have now is great for every day use.

Good. I'll need lots of iron soon.

I think this will be fine - especially if we are getting the night render as well.
And we are getting the Nether and End, which I don't think we had before when we only had the HR map.
And of course, TinCow, you are the one calling the shots here as you are doing the main work.
We are merely here to enjoy what we get.
I completed the rough river walk path from the lodge to the farm area. I also built a bridge over the river and connected the road to danhooks’ ranch. Speaking of… I “borrowed” about a dozen stacks of cobble from the ranch. I thought I saw somewhere earlier in this thread that he hasn’t played in a really long time. I can certainly replace it over time if needed, but figured I’d put the resources to good use.

So I just finished making up for a lot of shoddy (i.e. non-Scottish) engineering and have a question. Is there a tool or function I can use to look for gaps/small caves? I had to fill in a large area and tried to eliminate any gaps two blocks high or more but don't know of a way to verify my work. Is disabling clipping considered cheating?
I would also like to put a call out for resources. I'm in need of large amounts of iron and redstone. I have a lot of quartz, Nether Brick, and Netherrack to trade. I can also pay in diamonds or the limited other supplies I have remaining. I'm done digging so there will be no more unfortunate smelting incidents. This is for the Slaughterhouse 2000, which you can plainly see on the dynamic map.
Anyone willing to trade or donate?
