+ | The name Almughavars comes from the Arabic 'al mughavir', meaning raiders. Originating from Aragon, from both Christian and Muslim backgrounds, these professional soldiers are an elite light infantry fighting force. Armed with javelins and spears and sometimes armor, they would be useful to any army. Hurling their armor piercing javelins, Almughavars can easily break up any heavy infantry charge. They will perform well against similar light infanty or archers in melee. However, if put in close combat with heavy infantry, despite holding thier own briefly, they will soon turn tail and rout. Almughavars, like many other skimisher units, will also rout very quickly if taking on a cavalry charge. | ||
