AI moved all light cav to intercept my light cav
my light pulled back, heavy cav charged and destroyed
from there, the biggest problem were those 3 family members you sent... but the AI withdrew before I could kill any... virtually all of your spearmen got away too since I was busy chasing your turkomans (they were alot closer)
prisoners were released, since I'm nice like that.

I should point out here that Khwarezm bodyguards are both missile and melee, and my faction leaders are 9 valour.
52 of em' can take down everything short of another generals unit 1vs1 :evilgrin:

Kwaz bodyguards are super heavy, some of the toughest in the game. In my KoJ game I just assaulted a Kwaz citadel held by a few broken companies (~150 men total) and 33 Kwaz bodyguards. I killed all his infantry in a gateway at a cost of about 5 of my men, and then AI bodyguards killed almost 600 men in that same gateway, including nearly a full company of silver bar KoJ Armoured Sarges who held them while I shot them full of arrows and threw mercenaries against them.

Yeah, some of those were self kills by my own archers, but not as many as you'd think. They're like the bodyguards in SS, only with high damage bows being fired off by the ones not slaughtering you in melee. Two companies of them in good hands will probably kill any stack you can build if you put it in the hands of the AI.

Plus the AI handles sallies as stupidly as can possibly be done. Send only horse archers on your next siege. They AI will still get them butchered, but it'll do slightly better since they at least try to avoid getting into a melee.

Alternately send enough archers to prevent your men from rushing forward (And this can be hard to judge since the AI is so incompetent) and fill all the rest with high morale spearmen. Again the AI will lose, but it should inflict more casualties than with a mixed stack.

It was either going to be the Shah or the Ferrets. They're both Muslim and much maligned. The problem is unless either 1 of them could find my diplomat wandering around the eastern deserts it would take at least 2 more turns for any deal to take place. You and the Sweljuks can't do much but the Ayyubids could cripple me in that time.

The Shah is holed up and under siege in Samarqand, and I think anything bearing his name or insignia outside those walls has long since been murdered by the Seljuks and Ghaznavids. So I don't think you'll be getting that deal done..

I don't know what you're so worried about - remember, you've just spent 16k on troops, and you're the guy responsible for knocking out both Armenia (Tristan) and Turkey (ATPG)!

I don't stand a chance - I have fought ZERO battles this whole hotseat! You're a shoo-in buddy, start measuring drapes for the Caliph's chambers at Baghdad...

I was brimming with confidence until 2 things happened: I saw the 3rd Seljuk army and the Ayyubids picked a side. The first 2 crappy armies the Seljuks sent forward looked easy pickings. Even your prince's army with his bloomin' cammels would be easy enough to chop to bits. However, the 3rd army is made up of vastly experienced heavy cavalry of both the melee and archer kind. This army is mobile and deadly and will be an absolute b***h to beat with a fresh army, let alone one that's been depleted twice.

The Ayyubids have put me in a strategic sandwich. I could hold on for a long time with just you 2 as you would have to attack from the same direction. The Ayyubids however, will create a whole new front forcing me to split my armies. So instead of the battles being 1v2 up north it will now be .5v2 up north and .5v1 down south.

Eeek.



That said, I'm never going to capitulate, nor hand over anything to you brotherhood boys. I was just seeing if you would be true to your word (you said you wouldn't attack if they were in Muslim hands. You didn't specify which Muslim's hands they had to be in).

I noticed this a couple of turns ago which is why I took the screenshot.

I know there's usually a small discrepancy but I've never seen one this big before. Maybe it's just corruption..

Problem is I don't get a start of turn message so I can't reconcile the two..

I guess it's something persistent (like corruption), or maybe the display is just wrong..just wondered if anyone had seen anything weird like this before.

I've found that the merchant income display has some flaws in it in Broken Crescent. It usually seems like the expectations are a bit off in my SP games when I combine my individual merchant incomes (from their "producing # amount" displays) and compare them to what's on the finance screen.

If you go to war then your trade changes dramatically, resulting in a sharp reduction in funds. Even something as simple as a rebel army spawning on top of a trade route can cost you cash (Especially if it's near Baghdad's massive trade source. The short form is, that screen lies.

If you want to figure out exactly why it happened go through each city's breakdown screen and do the calculations yourself. :laugh4:

to be fair to rossahh, I had my chaps hidden in trees before they walked into merlox' troops which were hidden in trees...I think it's a good tactic generally speaking.

Merlox, I'm sure rossahh was trying to do the best job possible while subbing for you, by following the strategic aims you left for him. After all, he stands to lose if you are weakened. Also, he had no way of knowing I was going to attack you - I deliberately waited until after both Rome and KoJ turns had been played before I called the jihad.

However, I realise that I asked him to sub for you without checking with you first that you were unable to play your turn. I did this because you had been offline for a week and I knew from the BC3 thread that you had recently said you were unavailable, and I wanted to keep this game moving. It's unfortunate that you lost your emperor and army - believe me, I wasn't planning on battling them! The whole thing was an accident and I lost a lot of guys of my own in the ambush..

My faction is known as the Protectorate of Konstantinoplis (or how ever you spell it in there) Ayyubid subber, theres a diplomat like 2 inces from yours in Jerusalem, He JUST ran out of breath, I can't offer my surrender, so you're going to have to demand it from your diplomat. I have to correct a misapprehension here - I concede that you knocked out the three half-stacks which I had set aside for the invasion of Anatolia (and which succeeded in knocking out a full stack of yours plus your Emperor), but my armies are hardly 'destroyed'.

I have plenty of armies left and plenty of cash and capability to raise new armies.

There were still 2 stacks left in and near Edessa on my last turn so he is hardly down and out for good. He's just been a bit weakened.

plus those stacks I lost were mostly crappy mercs I raised quickly in order to put the frighteners on Turkey, and then Georgia (although I am mourning the loss of Az-Zahir, my second favourite character)

as such they were eating up my cash by being too high in upkeep for their quality

now I can quickly replace them with lower-upkeep, higher quality regulars

True, they are under AI control and have been so since the start of the game, but adding a player to control them now would in my oppinion be wrong. It will drastically change the game for some nations (my own for example). It's not my decision, and it's nothing personal, but I vote NO.

However, given we're 26 turns in and the Kypchaks have been AI-controlled the whole time, I'm not sure how viable they would be as a faction.

Also I'm not sure how fair it is on the existing players (particularly those guys neighbouring the Kyps) to introduce a human player so late.. sorry!

I know that BC3 is struggling and could do with some new players to keep it alive, why don't you post in that thread? I know Merlox would welcome that!

I think it's been long enough that we need to accept the miserable truth that he is not going to return.

So, I will be contacting former players and other persons known by me to be reliable hotseaters, to see if they will take over the faction on a permanent basis.

If anyone has any objections to this, please pipe up now..

FYI I have already signed off on this as holder of the Ghorid's vassalage. It seems a bit unfair for me or my allies to be running the Ghorids as it completely denies them the chance to betray me. :laugh4: EF declaimed any intent of doing so, but who knows what could happen?
