I would be happy to give you the Turkish Claims of Asia minor, but most of the cities I have that are mostly orthodox have huge amounts of time, and you'd be simply losing more money by garrisoning them, and rebuilding, than just trading with the settlements. I am only disagreeing with you because the Logical side makes No sense.

Also I need to have some way to like, fight the war in Russia like your first plan, So... I say we work together on a 2 sided cease fire / alliance deal with you guys. Or else this will be a very long, VERY long, war. Let's face it, You have bigger fish to fry than keeping a war against the ERE, Even at my capital of Constantinople, I was holding jerusalem and it was only making like.. 300? and it's a city man. you could easily get 2x in a town right by yourself. I just don't see the reason why you are trying to grab lands when they will only hinder your thing, And ofcourse your ignored my first cease fire, which was that I just simply pay you a fee, (Which would be the most profitable way.) but now that you keep on declining, you've lost your crown prince, Ayyubids lost their best generals. The Seljuks will get a nasty sting if they keep on progressing. At what cost of me though? I've lost a crappy army with my bad faction leader. the random prince that i didn't even know about. and a crappy town? The worth of this war isn't even worth it. I saw that when i first came on, and thats why I tried to ally with you all.

ok, let's talk about this in private, I just sent you a pm.

by the way, I'm assuming that by 'my first cease fire, which was that I just simply pay you a fee' you mean that you made an in-game diplomatic offer.

I don't remember receiving that - there's a bug in these hotseats where you can't be sure that diplomacy will pop up for the other player. It's usually best to agree everything by pm before using the in-game diplomacy to formalise it.

sorry guys, things are quite busy at the moment. i was hoping to do it last night, but that failed and today will be spent setting things up for christmas tonight (as germans, we celebrate on the evening of the 24th). i may be able to find the time, but if not, can i request an extension?

deguerra, have a great xmas and don't worry about it - play the turn when you have a chance.

We're all going to have the same issues over the next week or so, and we've all proved over the last nine months or so that we're committed to the game, so I'm relaxed about turn deadlines over the holiday period.

Just as long as we pick it up again when things get back to normal!

I am thinking of starting the BC3 game back up, but at the TW center due to the fact that theres not many players here. I need 16 total. The game has been re-worked on MAJORLY. I put many hours and had many people tell me how i could re-balance the game. Some of the things I did was I removed most spiked groups, and distributed the armies evenly amung all cities. Every nation will start with 10,000. All Brothels / Balista ranges have been destroyed, The Sindh nation has been boosted greatly, due to their dire situation, I have made one of their more inner cities Capital, and upgraded that large town into a small city now! The Small 1 faction Indian border is now heavily fortified against the ghorids. Ghorids are now less intensified against the indian border, distributed around evenly. The Omani's navies are not spread out through every port, and not gathered into massive navies. Over all, Borders Massivly less intensified. The game starts at turn 25!

Downloaded the save. May take a couple of hours. 7 settlements are under siege, and 1 fort. Plus I have Gaza and Antioch to assault.

rossahh
01-08-2009, 10:45
Nothing too major. Broke all the seiges (hardly surprising) and took Gaza due to a mistake by whoever took the last Ayyubid turn.

Elephant battle was easier than expected. The AI attacked the walls after I deployed in the cul-de-sac at the front of the castle. Missle units traded shots, though sporadic damage to all my units due to overshots/misses. Heavy damage to my 2 crossbows, and half the unit lost for most of the Rajput cavalry. Massed cavalry charge to one flank caused a rout and the AI withdrew. The survivors (a fair few, I didn't chase to the routers to reduce my own casulties) were sent north beyond Aleppo.

hi all,

Banzai is not returning, so we need to decide what to do with the Ayyubids. It's not fair on TheFlax to expect him to keep subbing, and not fair on the rest of the players to have a faction which is passed around a group of subs.

I would prefer a human player replacement, but I have exhausted my (small) list of contacts - does anyone know someone who wants to take over?

If we can't find someone by the time their next turn is up I'll switch the faction to AI control.

Likewise, I'm waiting for a pm from 00jebus to find out when he is coming back - I last heard from him on the 8th Jan, but he wasn't clear. If he hasn't replied by the time the next Shah turn is up, I'll switch the faction to AI control.

Ramses, I tried to dl the file to switch the Ayyubids to AI control but I can't seem to get it from mediafire - the page just hangs and says 'processing download request', but the dl never starts

any chance you could reupload using the org pbm uploader?

I probably need their password if I am allowed to play them though. ~:)

Welcome to the game Ibn-Khaldun!

We'd love to have you take over the Ayyubids..I have asked one of TheFlax or Zim to pm you the password and a quick status report. Check the first post in the thread for the game rules and for the game history..there's a war going on and an offer on the table from rossahh that hopefully he'll give you a turn to consider...other players may also be in touch.

Ok, the Ayyubids get (at least) 1 turn off.

Good to hear! But this all sounds like I'm ... well... already doomed!:sweatdrop::beam:

Anyway, rossahh I would like to know what is that offer.

rossahh
01-19-2009, 11:50
It's in the bottom of the court thread but here it is again anyway.

Previously we offered you terms for peace which you ignored. We will offer again, but with the terms matching your decline in military power. We offer you an immediate ceasation of hostilities. If you agree, then Qahira and Bilbeis will be returned after 5 turns have expired. The rest of the captured settlements remain under the control of the Kingdom. The Sultanate is to pay reparations of 2000 florins per turn, until Bilbeis and Qahira are returned.

FYI out of the Ayyubids starting provinces I've taken Gaza, Aqaba, Bilbeis, Qahira, Damascus, Homs and Damyut. The offer basically means I keep Gaza, Aqaba and Damyut and you get Qahira (your largest city) and Bilbeis (your largest castle) if you can scrounge 10,000 florins.

hi all, please enjoy my Turn 30 update:

- The Caliph declares a jihad (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2041226#post2041226) on the Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Eastern Roman Empire.

- The Imamate of Oman and Arabia (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2032140#post2032140) and the Ayyubid Sultanate (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2041300#post2041300) declare their support for the Caliph's jihad.

- The Kingdom of Jerusalem is defiant (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2041267#post2041267) in the face of the Caliph's declaration.

- The Eastern Roman Empire's pleas for peace (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2041276#post2041276) and attempts at negotiation (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2041309#post2041309) are dismissed (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2041346#post2041346) by the Caliph, prompting a defiant statement (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2041362#post2041362)from the Emperor Nevolous.

- In the opening exchange of hostilities, the former Byzantine Emperor Alexius ambushes an invasion force led by the Caliph's Crown Prince Az-Zahir and is slain (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2060758#post2060758).

- The Roman Emperor appears to surrender to the Ayyubids (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2053943#post2053943), with his capital under siege, and the Eastern Roman Empire becomes the Protectorate of Konstantinopolis. But not before he strikes back against the Caliphate invasion force, killing Crown Prince Az-Zahir and two of the Caliph's lesser generals (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2055118#post2055118).

- The Caliphate mourns (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2057796#post2057796) the death of Az-Zahir.

- Seljuk armies sweep into Anatolia, seizing Cilician Armenia from the Kingdom of Jerusalem, and taking several formerly Turkish territories from the ERE.

- Caliphate forces cross the Euphrates, taking Aleppo and Antioch from the KoJ.

- The Ayyubid invasion force withdraws from their siege of Constantinople onto their waiting fleet, and in a bitterly ironic disaster, are sunk by pirates (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2073693#post2073693).

- Emboldened by this twist of fate, the ERE fights on, taking Ani and Dvin in the former territory of Georgia from the Caliphate.

- After some conflicting orders (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2082382#post2082382) which confuse some of its soldiers (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2082418#post2082418), the Kingdom of Jerusalem repels the Ayyubid invasion of its lands and seizes Aqaba, Bilbeis and Al-Qahira, slaying the Great Salahuddin himself, before offering a peace treaty (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2084023#post2084023).

- The Caliph urges Egypt to fight on (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2084031#post2084031).

- In a surprising development (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2112842#post2112842), the Rajputs arrive in the Levant (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2085786#post2085786) and attack the Kingdom of Jerusalem (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2085667#post2085667), having travelled vast distances (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2085779#post2085779) with their war elephants (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2085917#post2085917).

- Having received no response to their offer of peace, the Kingdom of Jerusalem defeats the largest of the remaining Ayyubid armies at Gaza, and offers another peace treaty (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2101651#post2101651).

A lot has happened in the last five turns!

Well, that is the weird thing, because the award is 'Best Hotseat Campaign', and in the nominations thread (which has now disappeared) it was pretty clear that people were nominating the games themselves, and not the organisers per se...hence my comment in the polling thread

I guess the way they set up the awards they have to have one guy who receives it...and for the hotseat campaign that's the organiser.

In my view the whole game has been nominated (it's the concept and all the players that make it a good campaign, not just my humble efforts)...so the sig stays.

Thanks guys, for nominating me, voting for me, and honoring me so. I admit I was campaigning for the funny award, but my jokes tend to amuse me and annoy others. At least I finally get a badge... right?

I wonder what Malik is up to these days... probably sitting in some Roman brothel, drinking vast quantities of forbidden spirits, and engaging in lewd and objectionable behavior with the Roman slave girls.

Well done to everyone else who wrote a story, and especially Rossahh, who (from my perspective) was the perfect villain and I enjoyed everything written from his perspective, highly entertaining. Were it not for my continuing inability to load the save files, I would have loved to rejoin the game and annoy Rossahh again, especially as the Ayyubids.

Ramses suggested something I could do to fix it... when I get around to it, I will.

I've done my turn. Not as bad as I might have thought at first. I'll post the save a little later tonight as I have a few diplomatic calls to make and probably some "introductory" story to implement a certain change in government (you know the style, slitting the eyes, sending chaps to monasteries and the like, the good old ways).

Slight diplomatic hitch - couldn't accept the offer. No matter how many times I clicked on the green arrow, nothing happened. Reject, counter and close the scroll options all worked, so I just countered the offer.

Perhaps its something to do with me still being enemies with an ally? Though in my experience the game would usually just force peace between the parties after a diplomatic agreement is accepted.

hello everyone, please enjoy my
Turn 35 update:

- The Kingdom of Jerusalem is perplexed (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2112842#post2112842) by the Indian invasion, and attempts to make peace (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2118745#post2118745) with the Rajputs - the attempt is rebuffed (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2119315#post2119315).

- The Caliphate accuses the Kingdom of Jerusalem of germ warfare (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2119986#post2119986), an accusation which is swiftly denied (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2120025#post2120025).

- Armies of the Caliphate capture (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2120833#post2120833) Hama and Homs (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2128527#post2128527) from the KOJ, and Ani and Dvin from the ERE.

- Further defeats at the hands of the Seljuks bring King Baldwin of the KOJ to the negotiating table, and the Treaty of Jerusalem (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2127522#post2127522) is signed. In exchange for peace with the Caliph and his allies, the KOJ will become the Protectorate of Acre and will be the Caliph's vassal.

- Regime change (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2136105#post2136105)comes once more to the Eastern Roman Empire, and a string of victories (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2133693#post2133693) against the Seljuks in Anatolia is the result, with Kaesareia and Laranda falling to Roman arms.

- The Caliph restates his ultimatum (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2134551#post2134551) to the Basileos, and it is again rejected (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2134650#post2134650).

- Trouble is brewing (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2146842#post2146842) in the East between the Rajputs, Ghorids and Seljuks.

- Meanwhile, the Rajputs attack the Romans at Attaleia and are repelled (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2193064#post2193064).

- The Ayyubids confirm their peace with the KOJ (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2147336#post2147336), and ally with the Rajputs, before entering into a trade dispute with the Latins.

- The Romans begin to turn the tide of the war (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2152792#post2152792), with victories in Anatolia and Georgia (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2175540#post2175540) against the Seljuks and Caliphate

- Sensing that the balance of power has shifted, the Georgians declare their independence (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2178143#post2178143)of the Caliphate and throw off the chains of vassalage. Despite the Vizier's misgivings (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2178456#post2178456), there is nothing the Caliph can do but accept it.

- The Roman Basileos offers Ani and Dvin to Georgia as a gesture of friendship (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2178759#post2178759).

- The Romans experience at first hand (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2193065#post2193065)the terrible plague that has sapped the strength of the jihadi forces.

- Emboldened by their success, the Romans deliver an ultimatum of their own (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2193243#post2193243) to the Caliphate and Seljuks.

- Meanwhile, the Protectorate of Acre rebels against Caliphate rule, retaking its lost Levantine and Syrian holdings, and invading Egypt once more (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2197763#post2197763).

- The Caliphate fights back against the Romans and makes a treaty offer (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2198366#post2198366)to end the war. It is rejected by Rome (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2198376#post2198376)and accepted by the Kingdom of Jerusalem (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2198436#post2198436).

- The Rajputs again give a warning (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2206553#post2206553)to their troublesome Ghorid vassal.

- The Caliph reflects upon his losses (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2210863#post2210863), before negotiating peace with the ERE (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=2210996#post2210996).

Hey you guys. My name is Reece and I guess I'll be playing as the Ayyubids for a bit. I've been watching your guys' hotseat for awhile now (it's good entertainment during the times I am avoiding homework) and I'm pretty much up to speed with things. You'll probably kill me soon Rossah, but I'm really just here to have fun and you can't spell "slaughter" without "laughter." :clown:

Oh yeah, and I hope to have the save game file up by tomorrow night or Thursday night. I would hate to make you guys wait for too long, however, so I will do my best to complete my turn quickly.

Also, I promise not to bail if things go south for me (which it looks like they will pretty quickly, honestly :beam:) Even I've been annoyed at how many people have "disappeared" in this hotseat.

Redemption
04-29-2009, 03:49
This hotseat is long. Real life takes over. The unexpected happens. And then the really freakin' improbable happens and some people wake up to find their worst nightmare has returned to the game to teach them a lesson :smash::smash::smash: :laugh4:

As for Egypt being dead in the water, there's been enough reversals in the West that I wouldn't count them out by a longshot. Then again I don't have spies that far south. Yet. The Anatolian War has left me with many of the little blighters. All plagued of course.

And welcome :laugh4:

rossahh
04-29-2009, 07:35
I did not say that they are doomed, but I said that they are in "severe trouble". They have enough combat power at Luxor (and outside it) to resist for a while but they have little to nothing to fall back on after those two armies die.

That said, with a new player I could be nice and end the war straight away. Only if someone asks really nicely of course.

Interesting you should say that, for two reasons.

And Two, I have just this turn taken Firuzabad from the Ghorids and besieged their castle at Al-Muharraq.

Two: Weird move. Then again, I approve.

Ramses II CP
05-23-2009, 14:48
...not quite so weird when you realize the Abbassid's Hindu allies informed them the Ghorid armies were all in India and far from any chance to defend Firuzabad, which can be a modestly profitable city for the Caliph. :laugh4:

Redemption
05-23-2009, 22:38
Well yes, that's why I approve: it's profitable. But I'm just wondering, why continue beating on a dead horse? Unless the point is to finish him off of course. I thought Firuzabad and Al-Muharraq were supposed to be his nice, friendly Muslim fallback positions... Something like the Khwarezmians' Samarqand.

Anyhow, Ghorid vs Hindu is kinda bleh from my point of view. I'd like to hear about some real war going on in the East. But I guess it ain't gonna happen

The West's gotta do all the job for you guys

Western Division

Seljuq-Georgian War
Invasion of Georgia by the Seljuqid

The Armenian War
First Invasion of Armenia (Romano/Crusader vs Armenia)
Romano-Turkish War

War of the Coalition
Romano-Turkish Invasion of the Levant (with Caliphate intervention)
Destruction of Armenia (Crusader vs Armenia)

Second Crusade
Destruction of the Sultanate of Ikonion (Crusader vs Turkish Sultanate)

The Great Jihad
Muslim Invasion of Anatolia and the Levant (Abbasid/Seljuqid/Omani/Ayyubid vs Romano/Crusader)

Second Crusader Invasion of Egypt
Liberation of Jerusalem (Romano/Crusader vs Caliphate)
Invasion of Lower Egypt (Crusader vs Avidid Mamluks)

Romano-Crusader War
Second Roman Invasion of the Levant

Eastern Division

Ghorid Invasion of India
Rajputo-Ghorid War

Destruction of the Khwarezm Shah
Seljuko-Ghaznavid Invasion of Khwarezmia (Seljuq/Ghaznavid vs Khwarezmia)

Second Ghorid Invasion of India
Second Rajputo-Ghorid War

I'm happy to wait for barca

I was never happy with the Ghorids taking Firuzabad and Al-Muharraq - too close to my back door for my liking, and I wanted both settlements from the start but barca and deguerra bargained them away from me and never took them for themselves, leaving the door open for Tristan. So, now they're mine.

And in case there's any suspicion that I'm whaling in on the Ghorids while they are being subbed, I was always planning to take those from him (OOC of course, not IC), and didn't see why I should hold back just because he wasn't showing up to play his turns.

I see he only now has three settlements left (including Al-Muharraq, which is about to fall), so if he doesn't return we'll probably switch him to the AI instead of trying to find another player just to have him be knocked out in a few turns by ramses.

As far as war in the east, you greatly underestimate the amount of manipulation and behind the scenes skullduggery that has gone on. There was a whole alliance full of betrayals and treachery, there were pretend wars, and there was a dramatic reversal of the early fortunes of war.

The Ghorids don't hold Mansura, by the way, unless someone took it from me and gifted it to them. I think they still have 5 provinces even after Al Muharraq falls (Kabul, Pindi, Kutch, Kolachee, and that castle east of Kolachee) and about one full stack of good troops, not to mention ~10 decent spies that my assassins are having trouble with. I could pretty easily lose 3 or even 4 provinces back to him next year if Tristan decides to play. A couple of my more experienced spies got caught last turn.

Au contraire, I have accused you openly in court, IC, of spreading the plague, and you have denied it while accepting that the plague began in your lands (Damascus).
