The Dockyard is the second level shipyard building. The Dockyard allows larger, deep-water vessels to be built, but only ones with limited armament.
Due to era restrictions, only the Baggala is available in the Early game, the Caravel and Firegalley are only available in High and Late. Since the Baggala is only available to Muslim factions and the Golden Horde, building a Dockyard in Early for the Catholic or Orthodox factions has no benefit (except as a head start for High era ships).
