For the change of your nickname, you can either PM a Mod or post in the Watchtower.

The message on the top telling me to introduce myself is bothering me, so I decided to post here.
I've been lurking since the release of RTW, but I also have MTW and VI. It's good to be registered!

Nah, welcome I suppose!
Welcome imb39 to the .org!
Thanks to you both. The only thing that surprised me is that jp only has 36 posts... He usually manages that in an hour. Of course, they tend to be full of smilies. I am genuinely pleased he is aware of the keyboard...:fainting:

11-06-2006, 21:37
Good gosh, look who it is. It's a ghost from my past life come back to haunt me!
Hopefully not a ghost... Now our relationship is somewhat different here, I guess... I still adore you as my first born :)
King Henry V
11-06-2006, 21:45
Not a ghost, perhaps an apparition (Jp, on the other hand, happens to be one of those ghosts who is more of a minor nuisance: moving the jam jar and so on). ;~)
Here, however, we are all equals under the benevolent rulership of our dear lord Tosa Inu.
And who on earth is Tosa Inu? He sounds lie a local deity.
King Henry V
11-06-2006, 22:37
Some say he is God Himself incarnate in his virtual form. Others believe that he is a machine, invented by a brilliant, but mad Professor living somewhere in the Netherlands, whereas a few are adamant that he is infact the Grand Master of the Free Masons, ready to brainwash the members of this forum to do his bidding and thus setting in motion his world conquest. All we know, is that he's called the Forum Admin.
welcome imb39 ~
Tosa Thingy is the Scourge of Doth Orgus, The Killer of the Freedom of Speech :hide:
And worst of all: he's Dutch
But one day Belgian Superiority will rule these lands ~ Exactly, this way: ~
If you would excuse me now, I need my daily valium-treatment :nurse:
:creep:
Welcome to the Org, imb39. ~
And who on earth is Tosa Inu? He sounds lie a local deity.
You are not far wrong. ~D Tosa is the Org's forum administrator, and all here bask under his benevolent gaze. He is among the oldest and greatest of us (in terms of length of membership, energy invested, and simple presence). He commands enormous respect from everyone, both here at the Org and in the rest of the Total War community.
While there are a number of patrons and staff members that have made tremendous contributions to the Org and made it the place it is--all of them giants in their own right, and of whom I'm barely worthy of licking their shoes!--Tosa is probably the single biggest reason why the Org is still around. He's devoted an enormous amount of his personal time to these boards over the years, and his continued involvement and support is integral to the community here.
@AndresTheCunning: I suspect you may need more than valium. Perhaps a straightjacket is in order? ~;p

Welcome Takeda Itetsunaba and Julian the apostate to the org!
thanks for the welcome. any advice for me in TW gaming?
You'll find some excellent guides in the RTW guides and MTW guides section, both general and specifically per faction. A lot of information can be found in the subforums for each game. If you have specific questions about single player/multiplayr, you can post them there.
Enjoy the games and the Org ~

Hello everyone. I have been a casual observer of the Guild for a while but just decided to expend the minimal amount of energy it took to register yesterday. This is a pretty cool site. I don't know how I lived all of this time without the EB mod. Aside from some minor details (i.e. unit cards, despcription, etc.), it is like the best thing to happen to Rome: Total War.
I am a senior/graduate student of History at Southern Connecticut State University in the United States. My areas of particular interest are Ancient and Medieval Studies and Irish history, but I certainly don't limit myself to these areas. I would be more than willing to provide whatever kind of assistance I can in these departments to you modders.
Anyway, I just wanted to stop for a minute and intorduce myself. I'll see you all around.
Welcome RICKYROCK and Lord Condormanius to the Guild!

Hello All,
I've played STW, then stopped, then played the Mongol Invasion Expansion, then stopped.
That had to be at least 3 years ago.
I joined this forum because I'm in Japan and have a couple pics I think may be helpful to those of you who do mods (I have no background in coding, nor time to learn right now :( )
I believe that the pics should go in the Shogun Forums, but as a new member I don't have posting privileges there (according to The Guild FAQ (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=45416)), so I'll put them here, and I'm sure some mod will move it to a more appropriate place.
Well - I tried to upload them here, but that didn't work, so I'll post them on my website (Go to Japan > Cities > Kofu):
http://www.trinigaigin.com/
The originals are 1536x2048, and over 2 Mb each.
btw - any of u in Japan?

Hello, I'm also new here. I played Shogun a lot when it came out. Then there was a long period with almost no gaming at all (school, work, wife, kid,...).
But recently I found some time to pick up games again. As a real strategy fan I picked up the C&C First Decade Box and a bit later the Total War Eras box. Re-played Shogun (of course!) and played Medieval 1 and Rome for the first time.
I'm still having a LOT of fun with these games, and now there's this M2TW box sitting on my desk so I haven't got enough time to play everything :dizzy2: (first smiley!).
See you on the battlefield!

Welcome, severius alexius! ~
I'm in your thread, introducing myself.
I started playing Shogun, I only tried the demo that was many years ago, I wasn't really interested. Then I got MTW and played that many many times! Then I had a long pause until RTW came out, I played MTW before I played RTW and then I played RTW a lot!
I play many games simultaneously but like Civilization (1, 2, 3, 4) I get that "1 more round" feeling. But once I finish a campaign I take a break not to spoil the feeling. I bought the collectors edition of MTW2 and got myself hyped up thanks to these forums. I think I'll stick around, it's also great to kill time at work here. ^^
Pssssht don't tell my boss :sweatdrop:

Just saying Hi!
Lurked a bit and liked the tone of this forum.
I love strategy games (which is not the same as being good at them) and have played and lost all of the TW series.
Also I'm a Formula one fanatic and love anything to do with aviation.
I learn by asking stupid questions so be patient with me -its an age thing according to my kids.

welcome to the ORG. Derventio!!
Hi guys! New to the forums but not to the Total War series. I have been playing since MTW. Picked up M2TW this week, as well as a new graphics card and power supply for my PC so I could run it. I still at work right now but looking forward to getting home for my first Friday night in front of my revamped PC and M2TW. I don't predict getting much sleep this week end but it will be well worth it. Look forward to chatting with everyone. :knight:
To Whacker, cambrax, Derventio, & maxfu: Welcome guys! It's nice to see you finally emerge from the shadows after playing TW games all this time. Make yourselves at home! We only ask that you replace the beer if you take the last one. ~;p
My mrs is starting to look at me a bit funny when I keep telling her I'm the King of Denmark...
Eh, she'll get used to it. You should've seen the looks my ex used to give me when I would tell her that I'd just killed the Pope. ~D

Fear not, Derventio. I too am a lover of strategy games that I'm not necessarily very good at. ~;) As for asking stupid questions, well then you're definitely in the right place. :laugh4:

Hey all, just got the game yesterday.
Haven't played any other Total War games, but this one is great. Everything I ever wanted in a strategy game.
I used to play Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots, great game, but this has so much more options.
Now I'm off to the main forum to get some help on my campaign.
Hey all, long time Total War player, first time poster. Seeing as my first post was a bit of a rant on some of the glitches I've experienced in Med2 I thought I ought to show my more laid-back aspect here. So, hello all, looking forward to getting Senoir Memebership and taking ov...I mean, contributing.

Hello all I've surfed around here for the past week until I finally bought the game(the Special Edition of all things, apparently comp games are losing popularity :scared: so there were plenty about). I own Shogun(Tom Cruise kept backstabin me so I moved to Europe heard the middle ages were on) and Medival Total War The First. It's been a while since I burned a country to the ground.

Hi everybody!
Longtime player of the TW series, now finally I've become a member of the org as well ;)
Looking forward to get to know this forum and its fine members better!
I'm Austrian, married, no kids and work as a project manager in the vast area of IT projects.
I'm very interested in modding, but have simply no time to do it.
I generally play to relax, so usually I don't prod a game to deeply for exploits nor to I shy from cheating a little in SP (like turning of the fog of war) if it makes my life a little easier. Currently I play a scottish campaign (tried Russian, but my tactics are too dependent on good infantry units to get anywhere with them).
That's all for now!
nor to I shy from cheating a little in SP

Hello to all Orgahs! After reading 100s of threads from MTW and RTW forums, and now M2TW, I thought it was finally time to sign up. Long time overdue, but I hope to ask plenty and answer others questions frequently.
We are a father and son team (both Leonards, the III and IV in the series) who totally enjoy the TW games. Again, hello to all and thanks to the dedicated members who have answered so many frustrating questions through their posts (usually the FrogBE), that have made our TW experience so much better with their insight and knowledge.

Hi all, checked the place out for a bit, thought it was cool, cuz i really like the Total War games, though i haven't played STW yet, I started with MTW, all thanks to my older bro, then onto RTW cuz of a friend. To be honest until i find my niche here, don't expect alot from me, though on the up side i am listening to some of the music from MTW, moreover the battle music. Well i think i took up enough space for now, oh and BTW, i saw something like MTW XL, what is that, or was i mistaken about somethin?

Hi, just joined today. I just got MTW a couple weeks ago, all I can say is one great game, just love it. I've had problems with the campaign map, as it will only load 1% of the time. My video card is a ATI rage pro/2000xpert. Is there anything I can do? (Everything else is well within what the game needs)

Joined in the hope of finding The Complete Total War Unit Guide for Medieval 2 Total War. Playing muti player online and knowing unit values such as charge, attack, defense, armor and cost are an effective way to buy the best army. I got this guide for MTW from a posting by Frogbeastegg and tracked him or her down here. I have enjoyed reading the post here along with learning the scope of the guild membership. Still looking for the Unit Guide if there is one out yet.
Learning is fun, but so is a cold beer!
Welcome to the Org, guys! ~
@YourLordandConqueror: A number of MTW players (including myself) have had load/CTD issues, and more often than not, they have to do with the video card. Check out this thread in the Apothecary (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=69367) for further information & solutions. If you're still having problems after that, just post it in that thread, and LeftEyeNine should be able to help you out. Good luck!

Don't bother, there are no such things as "n00bs" here. We are all equal members enjoying the Org community ~
Junior members can't edit their posts, though. It's an annoying restriction, I know, but it's just the way it is. Post on a regular basis, be friendly to the other members and you'll get promoted to full membership soon enough (within 2 or 3 weeks, sometimes 4 if the staff is very busy), allowing you to edit your posts. Hi,
My name is Marcos Frederico. I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I am interested in meeting friends who have in common the passion
for this amazing game. I also played other strategic games like Europa Universalis II. Now I am playing MTW and the MTW XL version for a year or two. The most interesting aspect of the game for me is the good simulation of the battles. Concerning this, the engine of RTW (and recently MTW2) has symplified everything to reduce the time of the battles. Despite of their superior graphics, the result is mediocre. The battles have become
a poor pastiche of a real medieval combat. For this reason, despite the lack of development of the game, I will play MTW XL also for a certain time.
Be well. Keep in touch.

You'll notice alot of members of this community agree with you. The MTW and STW parts of the forum are still regularly visited and you'll find alot of helpfull information and members there. If you're intrested in history or military history, make sure to check the Monastery (it's part of the miscelleanous section of the forum).
hello. i've already started posting in other areas, but thought i should at least stop by and do the "introduce yourself" thing. i live in the southern region of the US and i've been playing the Total War series since its inception, graduating here from the KOEI line of games where i loved their dynasty series and their Nobunaga series.
there are two ways my name is usually noticed, and yes i do asked about it (still don't understand why) so i figured i would throw the info in here. Mordan was a character in an Ultima series game, a wizard if memory serves, but that isn't where i got the moniker. for me it is a rearranging of certain letters in my name i chose as my character's name in Star Wars: Galaxies. so if you played that on the Sunrunner server, yes, i am that Mor-Dan Kin.
i enjoy figuring out and working with the game mechanics of the total war series, and really think all game companies should move the way of Total War and Empire at War, building the system around coding that can be viewed and altered by the people who play the game. it just gives a longer shelf life to the title because you can constantly use you own imagination to re-invent the game for yourself and give yourself that challenge that the vanilla just no longer holds after 6-8 months when you've beaten everything on every level multiple times.
i look forward to conversing with you all on many different topics, and commend you on a great site of information, dedication, and innovation for the total war series.
Welcome to the Org, Marcos Frederico and mor dan! ~
@Marcos Frederico: As the AM for the Main Hall, I hope we'll see you there often.

Junior members can't post in the miscelleanous forums. It's annoying, I know, but keep posting on a regular basis and within a few weeks (+/- 3 weeks) you'll have full member status.
Meanwhile, enjoy the other parts of the Org (there are plenty of stories, some pretty long ones to, I'd recommend Froggy's Machiavellian adventures of princes Eleanor (in the Mead Hall), by the time you've read all of that, you'll certainly be a full member).

Quick question about something I've noticed. I'm reading through the fantastic Tips and FAQ for M2TW thread that Econ21 posted, but in the links he posted it just takes you to a specific thread without any navigation details. How can I find out where these threads are? Hope this isn't too daft a question.
Another quicky is why I can't select the smilies? They are all listed down the side but nothing happens when I click on them? Are they disabled within profiles or summat? (8-/

Greetings to all;
I have been following these forums for several years, and am grateful for the advice I have gleaned. Now, with the advent of M2TW, I have decided to join the community as a member.
I have played MTW, VI, RTW, BI, RTR, and M2TW.
I am most interested in working together to unearth the game mechanics of M2TW.
Hail and well met,
My name is Duzey, I am a total war addict way back to the shogun series. I have been reading this forum for years now, and thought it was time to take a more active roll.
I am 40 yrs old, live in Canada. Have 5 kids and wife number 3 :help:
In the warmer months I fly fish, and am a stay @ home Dad due to a pretty bad spinal injury I sustained @ work in 1999, and in the hard water months I play total war games.
Nice to meet you all, hope to play sometime with you.

Hello all, long time lurker here, thought I'd finally register now we're on MTW2.
Played all the TW games except shogun (and considering all the things I've read about it, maybe I should), and a total addict much to my girlfriends dismay, despite or maybe because of her being a History teacher.
Looking forward to commenting on the threads; willing the mighty Mercia to be reborn in a future add-on, and reaping the advice from guides posted by better players than me.
I work for Pearson, who are responsible for those value for money bradygames strategy guides you're all so fond of!
