Yep, fail. I see TogaTest_Table is shown in red as a "new template" and fails because no target template exists yet.  Let's see if we can find the MTW_Province_Borders template that is '''Drone''''s table layout.  It will yield many clues.

Aha, Templates used on a page are listed at the bottom of the page. A link takes me to the template '''Drone''' has used, and it has nice documentation about it and how to use it.

I guess in order to create my own table style and dimensions, I'll have to create my own template first, and then call it from here once it's complete.  Hmmm ... do I want to get into this write now?  Maybe some coffee is in order, brb.

Aha, by clicking on the red link TogaTest_Table, it opened a new file of that name, which is a template file.  I cut and pasted the template code from '''Drone''''s template, saved it, and voila, I have his same table, but now in a test template that I can play with without mucking up the production table.
 +
 +
Now let's change the data in the table, to plain text entries for now, to confirm functionality.
 +
 +
kk, that looks fine.  I can use text or internal links, and my guess is external links.  I just have to use the appropriate syntax in the area where the data goes.  Now let's mess around a little with the table location on the page and its dimensions.
 +
 +
D'oh, the dimensions are dynamic, based on the data.  I see that the template can support up to nine rows of data.  Let's test that.
 +
 +
kk, that's fine.  I played with the table border width, going from 1px to 5 px.  Looks nice.  Let's muck around with some of the other table appearance parms.
 +
 +
Changing cell padding from 4 to 10 increased the space around the data in the cells significantly.  Easier on the eyes, but eats a lot more real estate.  Still, good to know.
 +
 +
This is bringing back memories of all the html work with tables, borders, etc., that I did on Chushingura.  I'm seeing color codes, and I don't think I still have my reference sheet for those, dagnabbit.  I'll have to google up a new one.

 +
Well, I'm getting tired, so I think I'll quit here.  More tomorrow prolly.  night, night.

TOGAKURE'S TEST PAGE

This page is currently serving as a test bed for learning the basics of Wiki page creation.

It is being created by a total noob, so please don't laugh too hard.

Now if I could figure out how to get words to wrap around correctly I would be very happy. That's why I'm typing all this inane bologna. Aha! I see now that it is wrapping around like I wanted it to.

OK, I see that MTW_Province_Borders is the name of the table and probably contains the formatting. Where does the table live? Surely if I change it's name, it will fail? Never know 'til I try ....
