Unit Description
Arbalesters use improved crossbows, giving them longer range and more punch. Their fire rate is slow, but prolonged and concentrated fire can decimate even heavily armoured units. They should be kept out of melee combat however, unless used as a last resort.
Given a choice between Arbalesters and Crossbowmen, Arbalesters should always be taken. They are more accurate, pierce armour better, do more damage, and have longer range.

Arbalests are very effective against armoured units, and can cause a great amount of damage to heavy infantry and cavalry. Unlike Crossbows, Arbalests use steel strings and are not affected by rainy weather. The extra range can be used to their advantage against other missile troops, but the slow reload rate should be taken into account.
