Continuing the animals theme-

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/enervatedband/Cats.jpg

My cats. One on the left is female and called Puzzle, the one on the right is a tom, and named Basil. He's actually fourteen, although you wouldn't know it to look at him.

This picture was taken about 5 seconds before my mum screamed and pushed them off the worktop.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/enervatedband/Drag.jpg

Me in drag for a fancy dress party. Aren't I pretty? ~D

The sort of sepia tint wasn't intentional, but I think it looks ok.

Wow BKS I never thought of you that way but you look kinda hott. Either that or it isn't really you. I'm also suprised that there are drag parties out there. ~ How many kids did this?!?!

Mind coming over to my house for some "coffee"?

It's definitely me. I'll post some photos of me in my normal clothes later for confirmation, if you like.

It wasn't a drag party, per se-just a fancy dress party. I had to think of something quickly, so I just borrowed a dress form a female friend, curled my hair and stuck some make-up on. It worked quite well, I think.

I think I'll pass on the coffee... ~ ~D

i thought it only fitting that we shld remember soly, so i put together a composite image. the office part of this picture is one that soly posted not too long ago. i believe it was his office and view from same at the last place he worked at here in the states. the woman in the picture is one i had on my drive. i simply put them together one day while thinking of soly. the babe in his office, looking out over the city, as if searching for the now moved to japan soly, seemed fitting.

continuing in my series of scans from my old negatives, here's another i've cleaned up. i had to put the negative scanner on my win98 machine, as it conflicted with my normal flatbed scanner on the xp machine. remember, these negatives are about 35 years old. the film is degrading a bit.

http://mizus.com/kraellin/IMAGE018-1-k-1p.gif

i like this negative scanner, for the most part. however, it does have a few oddities to it, so, if you're going to invest in one yourself, do test some out, if possible.

I think it's rather that in Prague the administration happened to be particularly wise in handling the beauty of the city (perhaps they also knew that taking care of the beauty of the city would guarantee a continuous inflow of hard Western currency from visitors).

In addition Prague was in the situation that the city had not to suffer from destruction during WWII.

What communist administrations are (in)capable of can be observed in Eastern Berlin were the castle in the city had been blown up by the Socialist administration only to be replaced by the hideous and asbestos-ridden piece oj junk that't called "Palast der Republik". Many other beautiful buildings in eastern Berlin were basically left to rot.

Our old one blew up at the end of last year and has proven itself to be all but unfixable. Bummer. It was a beast of a a hooligan of a monster of a wood chipper. It was also about as safe as juggling twenty pound razor blades. There was no controlled feed, it just ripped the branches out of your hands like you owed it money and the branches beat the crap out of you as they were pulled in at 100 mph.

Anyway, we have our new equipment. Small, but new. Terrible for anything over five inches thick, but a wonderful delight for branches. it feeds the braches in at a leisurely 4' per second and is totaly stress free. We stuffed all the braches off an 80' balsam pine through this thing on Friday and it turned into a small pile in our truck.

But in a good way. ~;) Anyway, when I start getting a little stubborn or agitated, my wife puts her fingers up like horns and starts stomping her foot like a hoof. We were walking down Wall Street one morning, and she almost fell over laughing when she saw the bull.

In case you're having trouble telling, I'm the one on the right. I look essentially the same right now, except it's summer, so I've shaved my beard off, and as I got tired of the stray hairs popping up as I was going bald, I keep my hair cropped pretty short now, and I'm just about bald on top (instead of 1/2 way as in this photo).

I went to Arizona on holiday last month and I've finally gotten around to prepping some of my pictures for posting. I'll post them in about 3 batches. First up is the Grand Canyon.

https://home.comcast.net/~gbresslr/images/Arizona139.jpg

In the middle of the left side of the picture below, we catch a glimpse of the elusive Colorado River. Yes, there is a river down there.

https://home.comcast.net/~gbresslr/images/Arizona155.jpg

The picture below is one of my favourites. I really like the layered effect of the canyon walls as you look off into the distance.

https://home.comcast.net/~gbresslr/images/Arizona209.jpg

Next is a zoomed-in picture is of a hikers' bridge across the Colorado. This view is looking down one mile (1.7km) to the bridge. It allows hikers from a trail on the South Rim to cross the river near the Phantom Ranch which is the only lodgings available at the bottom of the canyon.

https://home.comcast.net/~gbresslr/images/Arizona109.JPG

Now for a couple of sunset pictures. In the first picture, note the flattopped, sunlit mesa on the left casts its shadow on the distant canyon wall on the right.

Kraellin
07-20-2005, 19:12
sinan,

this would depend on what type of software you have for doing this sort of work. if you've got something like photoshop or corel's painter or paint shop pro, there are tons of tutorials on the respective manufacturer's site, user group and fan sites and related web sites. you can also always read the docs that came with the software ;)

if you've got something less than one of those pieces of software, maybe a hewlett packard photo touch-up type or something similar, i doubt you'll find many docs/tutorials other than what came with the software.

i use paint shop pro 7.xx and gained most of my basic knowledge from reading the book that came with it or using the built in help function of the software. and for extra over and above type help, i hang out on www.retouchpro.com . that's a great site for getting and giving help for retouching, restoration, reconstruction, photo art, photo manipulation and so on.

big john,

the first one you did just fine. almost a complete duplicate of mine. the 2nd may or may not be the fault of you or the gimp. sometimes in a darkened area there's just not enough detail to work with. the same can be true of a very white area.

K.

Kraellin
07-20-2005, 21:04
the trick on the 2nd one, BJ, is not to bring out the forefront, but to highlight the contrast of the background/foreground and the colors.... like so:

yeah, it was a very dark picture to begin with.. but i'm sure my lack of skill/freeware proggies don't help. in your version, i can't see much detail in the ground, was the detail in my version just an artifact of my manipulations?

here's two more, used gimp and irfanview together.. but i can't get detail out of the ground without washing out the sky.. any other pointers krae?

Kraellin
07-20-2005, 21:40
BJ,

no, it wasnt your program or lack of skill. there just wasnt enough light in the original to give much detail. you got about all that was there without completely washing it out. interesting that the car showed up :)

there's a couple things you can do here. first, do a resize and double the image size. if it started as an 800 x 600, make it a 1600 x 1200. this will give you a bit more detail as you work.

dont do the whole image when you're using contrast/brightness. make a selection of the sky, or the ground, either one. base the selection on 'lightness'. and just set your 'tolerance' so that you get ONLY the sky in the selection. THEN, either invert the selection so the ground is selected instead of the sky, or, work on the sky first and then invert. when you then apply other filters and tools, they will ONLY apply to the selected area. dont know if irfanview can do this, but the gimp shld be able to quite nicely. this will allow you to work on the different areas separately. and, just to blend in the two separate areas a bit better, you might also add a small 'feathering' amount to the selection tool before you make the selection.

K.

Kraellin
07-20-2005, 21:41
oh, and you might want to use the 'magic wand' tool for making the selection. base it on 'luminance' and not 'hue' or 'rgb value'.

K.

Big_John
07-20-2005, 22:22

ok, here's an attempt at adjusting selected fields of the image (i used the magic wand). is there a way to deal with the edge between the terrain and sky (esp. around the sun and on the far right horizon)?

https://img332.imageshack.us/img332/9376/1stgo2smiv5rs.jpg

btw, those pictures are awesome The_Mark!

Kraellin
07-21-2005, 04:33
BJ,

yes, you can correct for this. here's 3 examples of getting rid of the rim between the fore and background.

in the first one, i used the magic wand with a feathering of 2, i think it was. in the 2nd one, i used no feathering.

and in the third i made the feathering about 12 or so.

what the feathering does is add extra area to the normal selection. your magic wand will still select its normal area, but after it does, but before it displays, it appends however much feathering you set to the selection. this allows you to overlap the selection areas and feather out the differences.

http://mizus.com/kraellin/image3.jpgimage 1 with 2 feather:

http://mizus.com/kraellin/Image1.jpg
image 2 with 0 feather:

http://mizus.com/kraellin/Image2.jpg
image 3 with 12 feather:

http://mizus.com/kraellin/Image3.jpg

notice on the last image that there is no rimming between the fore and background.

also, in your rendition, you have to realize that greg's camera was prolly not a real high resolution camera. maybe 2 or 3 megapixels, greg? so, in good light things look just fine, but as you lighten or darken to great extents it's not like analog film as much. a lot of the detail gets lost in the sensors. so, trying to bring back that detail is generally difficult to do. and sometimes, it's just better to not lighten the image up so much :)

btw, i went a little crazy on the colors here just for the heck of it :)

nice pics, the mark! what archipelago is that?

Very nice work gentlemen. Thanks to Sinan and Big John for asking Krae the very questions I had in mind and thanks to Krae for the little tutorials. Now I've got to play around a little with my images.

As to Krae's question about my camera, I have a 5mp camera. I was shooting at a "standard" resolution rather than "fine" and image size one notch below maximum size. The original images are about 1.4mb in size and 2048x1536 in dimension. I resized them down to 800x600 for internet display.

If the image was taken when dark and when not using spcial filtering in exposure there's little one can do to make it brighter without affecting the quality. I guess it's good enough for some people though. :smartass:

man this stuff is addictive! i still haven't ironed out the edge-effect business with that one pic (the far right side still gives me trouble), but i tried a simple enhancement of two of these cliff-dwelling pics..

i've also been messing with trying to re-touch old photos.. anyone know a tutorial for removing tears/folds from old-photo scans?

Kraellin

edyz,
dont think anyone answered your question about psp vs ps. photoshop is by far the cadillac of graphic editors. however, you're also going to pay a cadillac's price for it and wade through a pretty complex program and higher learning curve. psp is about 1/5th the price for their latest version compared to ps and if you get the download version it's about 1/10th of the price.
as to which to use, frankly, i'd use psp for what you want. it's easier, cheaper, quicker to learn, yet powerful enough to do most anything you'd want in mod graphics. you might even get the older shareware version, 4.12. at one time it was available on the Org's downloads. i put it there over a year ago, so dont know if it's still there or not.

greg,
you're welcome. and thanks for some great shots :)

ah, ok, so several factors there as to why the lowered detail. thanks greg.

BJ,
yes, it's extremely addictive ;)

and i do photo restorations. so, ask away. take a look at the thread in the frontroom about anyone an artist here. i posted several pieces of my work there, two of which were befores and afters of a restoration that had several rips and tears. generally speaking, there are two major steps in a restoration; bringing out the detail which used to be there, and cleaning up the image. you almost always start with bringing back the detail and then do the cleanup/repair.

btw, your cliff dwelling enhancements look good :)

hey krae! seeing as you're the pro, how would you go about retouching this magazine scan? (click on the thumbnail)

the major problem, to me, is the bleed-through of the opposite side of the page. is there a way to lessen that effect on the woman at least?

Kraellin
07-23-2005, 06:03
lots of ways to do it, actually. here's one example:

http://mizus.com/kraellin/Image222a.bmp

i used a program/plugin called Neat Image and treated the bleed as noise. neat image reduces noise. i purposely over-compensated the noise reduction then saved that image and used the original image in psp and added a layer to that with the filtered image and then cleaned it up a bit more with things like clone.

there's other ways to do it, especially if you only wanted to clean up the woman.

Mitre peak:

Mt Cook: (this one could use a little enhancement, but I lack the software...and there is an obstacle in the front left)

A very pretty mountain side:

Perhaps the best picture I have ever taken (IMHO), Mts. Tasmin and Cook.

Ahem...nevermind about that one... I have a great shot of the mountain that has a guy in the left foreground. I guess I had forgotten which picture exactly I had posted. Oops.

Anyway, it is pretty (I like blue) but is it possible to get the 'acutal' colors (the greys and greens) out from that shot too?

Thank you Kraellin for pointing that out...I feel silly.

The Mark, what do you mean when you say the picture was made from 3? Are you referring to the "three" birds?

Thank you Gregoshi. Would you believe that I just used a (three years ago) Sony Cybershot 2.0 Megapixel camera. It was all of $200 back then.

And Viking, are you a kiwi? I had heard so often how beautiful NZ is. And it is true.

I daresay you could not even buy the little fella now. If you could, it might be $40 or $50. To be sure, I did increase the picture size, from my standard 640 x 480 to 1280 x 960, which helped. But beyond that...I think it was the beautiful country that helped my shots look good. Well that and the huge number of pictures I took. I had my laptop with me on that trip to NZ so I could take ~50 per day and then ship them to the computer and take 50 the next day too.

I used the digital camera for all but the mountain side, which was a disposable actually.

The following are more from my trip (and all with my little digital camera)

The outback of Australia after walking for a while

https://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/fuhteng/VapourTrails.jpg

A so-called 'warm' glacier in NZ. The picture is little because I took a bunch that day

https://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/fuhteng/DSC00682.jpg

This is a shot over the back of the Nevis Bungee jump location. I highly recommend bungee jumping. Once. But hey, I did it ~:)

https://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/fuhteng/OverthebackofNevissite.jpg

This shot is from N. Stradebroke Island (kind of a party island a ways away from Brisbane where I 'studied'). Are there any free programs I can use to get rid of the #*$@#*$ orange numbers on a variable surface? I had those on there becuase I did not realize that my camera automatically records the date too, but hidden as part of the camera file.

https://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/fuhteng/Walk4thebeach.jpg

But I do know how to do it for numbers that on a constant surface (such as black or grass)

Thank you for the compliments guys. Enjoy.

re the mountain picture by azi: i did some work on this one per your enhancement request. i'll just post these and then comment.

http://mizus.com/kraellin/Mt-2-k-1c.jpg

http://mizus.com/kraellin/Mt-2-k-1a.jpg

http://mizus.com/kraellin/Image9.jpg

http://mizus.com/kraellin/Image7.jpg

in the first one, this one has two problems, the loss of detail a bit due to being in the shadows and your lower resolution camera, and, it changes the picture. the foreground being now in light draws attention away from the mountain top in the background, which in my opinion, is the biggest draw to this image.

in the 2nd one, i subdued the lighting a bit more than the first one and i think it's better. but it still has some of the same problems as the first one.

so, in the third, i changed things a bit. i re-cropped the picture to highlight the mountains in the background and did no lightening of the foreground.

and per your last request on the beach photo and the numbers, yes, you can remove these fairly easily with the clone tool in psp, or the rubber stamp/clone in photoshop. if you dont want to invest in either of those for now, try 'The Gimp' or 'Gimpshop'.

and again, nice pics!

Souvenirs!

Just got back from an overnighter in Ottawa, Canada's capital. Gorgeous city. Worst and most expensive parking on Earth. Hit a few museums, had a great meal at a Scottish pub, and almost pissed my pants and broke down and cried when I came face to face with a Lancaster bomber at the National Aviation Museum. I got goose bumps and my knees went weak. If I was ever to come home to triplets, it would be nearly the same reaction.

What did I bring home?

These!

BJ,

well, it's nitpicking at its highest. the line i'm talking about is a narrow whiteish line between the sky and the hill on the right, top half. most folks would look at it and think it was just a glow line. in fact, it may be, and i may be all wet :)

it's a nice job.

also, realize that in those two 'enhancements' of mine on the mountain scene, i was overdoing it on purpose to bring out the foreground. i think it looks better subdued and cropped a bit.

This is fun. I take good pictures. Kraellin makes them look even better. With your software Kraellin, is it hard to do this stuff?

Since we know he is an expert at enhancing what is already there...I wonder if he can get rid of a certain doofus ruining what should be a great picture...

https://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/fuhteng/SeeIamhere.jpg

I think that would be tough. You've no clue what is behind me...err...the doofus...doh...

This one might be easier since the person ruining the shot is in the dark but...

https://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/fuhteng/Walk5power.jpg

Maybe yes, maybe no.

Personally, I really like this one too...but is there anyway to increase the sharpness? I know it is little (taken at 640 x 480) but still...with the camera being confused, it seems to me it is a little fuzzy. It seems to me the rays should be, but I don't know about the rocks and trees.

Inspiration? From everywhere....from music, from scenes in movies, from the work of the masters....from seeing the light at the end of the day falling on my junipers in the garden. Soemtimes I just open up a new toy and start playing. Sometimes the idea comes into my head and screams to get out. It rips itself out of my head and sits in front of me ...demanding to be done. And actually a few ideas are from games of MTW and VI and STW and RTW. I have alot of work to do.

I'm not sure if I like your modifications. I'm all for stark contrasts but you loose some
details in the finer structures of the cloud. There's also a lot of noise in the midground.
I like the overall effect but I think you can do better, as I've seen in this thread.
The base-quality of my picture (pixel-wise) is simply too low to get reasonable results.
Perhaps the bigger version offers you more possibilities?

Hi The_Mark,

I did some colour and gradation curve retouching.
I also changed the composition, i.e. cut something out.
I often "cut away" parts of the image if it wasn't possible
to get the composition right at the moment of the shot,
due to time, distance etc.
I'm not 100% satisfied, though.
Your ideas?

Also the rocks above the water came out a bit overexposed, and with them being also a bit blurry they didn't fit in that well. I was thinking of darkening them a bit, as the rocks should be almost black, with those white patterns. Basicly, darken & increase contrast should do it, I guess.

It's not really sharp is it?
Reading the meta-data of the image I noticed that it was taken
with an F-stop of ca. 3.5 at roughly 1/200 sec on a Canon Power shot.
I'm not that familiar with digital cameras but it seems that a way
higher F-stop of 8 or higher would've been appropriate to get more
depth-of-field. It would also result in a slower shutter speed but
you can easily shoot at 1/60 or 1/30 sec without a Tripod.
(If you don't have an SLR then there's no mirror causing eruptions.)

Yes, I was shooting on some sort of programmed automatics back then, still trying to familiarize myself with the camera. Higher F-stop would've helped, but a longer shutter speed wouldn't, as it was quite awkward to balance on those rocks and try to take a photo, and the blur on the edges looks to me like it might be partly motion blur, even on that shutter speed. 1/30 would've been quite difficult to get sharp at that point.

oh, and r'as, if i do post your pic it would be on www.retouchpro.com . i'll let you know if i do and post the link. thanks :)

Yes, this version is much better. I like your art approach.
Retouchpro looks like a nice site . Have you seen www.photo.net?
It's quite sophisticated and inspiring. They feature some amazing amateur photographers.

I see. It always depends on the situation and carrying a tripod (like I do)around isn't always recommended. ~;)

I'm glad that you guys didn't react offended by my criticism.
I'm by no means an expert and offering opinions online
is always difficult. ~

To all of the geniuses here, with picture enhancment (ahem...Kraellin and Big John), do you know of any programs that can help me de-pixelate (I don't know what the correct term is) a couple of little pictures I found? I really like them (they go together), but because of the way they were done, I can't read any of the little text, and the rest of the pictures don't look very good anyway.

Thank you.

To all of the geniuses here, with picture enhancment (ahem...Kraellin and Big John)!! ~

i don't think it would be wise to put a hardcore newb like myself in the same sentance as the master, but thanks anyway. ~;)

to wit, i have no idea what you mean. :embarassed: "de-pixelize"? are the pictures too pixelated? too small? can you happen to post said pictures? you could increase the resolution of the piucs by resampling, but i don't think that's going to help you much with the text.

the only programs i'm using atm are irfanview (for low-end editing) and gimpshop (for higher-end stuff). both are free.

Well, heck, maybe I should just post the little things:

https://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/fuhteng/It_doesnt_seem_fair_does_it.png

https://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a176/fuhteng/Who_Says_Life_Is_Fair.png

That is what I mean. Too small to read them.

I downloaded gimpshop, but I could not find an executable file to install the @#* thing... Don't I feel stupid.

Anyway, this is what I've got.

Azi

P.S. I know the images are copyrighted so I was leery about posting them... If I need to get rid of them, let me know.

Big_John
08-11-2005, 02:40
hmm, what do you want exactly? you want to be able to read the fine print in the second pic? or the ultra fine in the second pic? or do you just want to clean up the readable text in both pics ("it doesn't seem fair does it?" and "who says life is fair")?

i could do the last one, i'm sure, but i don't think i can recover much from the fine print(s). i'm sure there's probably text-recognition software that has algorithms for recovering text like that, but a simple resampling, afaik, won't be able to help. maybe krae can work his magic.

edit: p.s. did you get gimpshop from here? http://www.plasticbugs.com/blogimg/GIMPshop_0.1beta_Setup.exe
that's where i got mine. it's been a while, but i don't recall the setup being too difficult..

Azi Tohak

Geesh... I hereby dub myself: "Azi, ADD boy!". Thanks Big John, for the link. Download.com failed me... Bad Download.com! Bad!

It is the text I would like to improve yes. Especially the little stuff. I can read the big stuff okay (and yes, you got it right on both counts).

I did a fair bit of scouring the net early this summer for my job, looking for different picture enhancement things, but I never found a text-recognition program to use.

Thanks again Big John. Now back to learning the GIMP!

Last weekend I spent at my in-laws at Bremerhaven to visit the Sail 2005 (http://www.sail-bremerhaven-2005.de/english/?navid=1)

Here are some pictures (unfortunately getting a windjammer on a picture is not a simple task in close quarters ~:) )

The "Krusenstern" formerly a German ship, now under the Russian flag as it was given to the USSR after WW2:

The "Amerigo Vespucci" from Italy:

The port of Bremerhaven - crammed with windjammers (the weather was not particularly good...):

How did you like it there, Martyr? My wife and I are going to visit Dubai for a week in September. Any must-sees or must-dos?

I had a great time thanks. I was in Dubai as well. Great place. A lot of people were telling me its like the Vegas of the Middle East, but what I found was very different from this. Sure there is a LOT of money there, but all in all its fairly tastefully done (well, compared to Vegas!!). I went at the hieght of summer, so it was extremely hot. It was nearly pushing 50 degrees centigrade on a few days. Thats too hot to do anything really, so be ready to spend a lot of time in air conditioned shopping malls... but then your wife would probably have you doing that anyway! ~;) ~D It should be a good bit cooler by September, people were telling me its the perfect time to go, that or spring, as the winter gets very expensive. I would warn you that there is a HELL of a lot of building going on in Dubai, especially in places like Jumeirah beach, there are literally 100s of sky scrapers going up at the same time, its quite a site! (pun intended... :dizzy2: ) If you can, get a hotel somewhere else, believe me, you really cant imagine what it looks like its so vast!

A must see in Dubai are the Gold Souks. Its something else! Its probably the most gold you're ever likely to see in one place. And its a very dark orangey gold, something you dont normally see. Even if you have no intention of buying anything (like me) then its still definitely worth it, just for the experience!

We went on Jeep Safari out into the desert. That was a very good experience. The driver took us on a really wild trip over the seemingly infinite dunes, it was like a rally or something. Then we went cammel riding, sand-boarding, visited a Bedowin camp (although this part was very touristy), smoked some apple sheesha, saw some belly dancers and had a lovely meal all for about 50 euro. Not the cheapest thing to do, but certainly a great day out! If you're staying in a hotel they'll be able to sort it out for you.

There is a really good go-karting track in Dubai, we enjoyed it but its obviously not everyones cup of tea. There is a waterpark called Wild Wadi. To be honest, I wouldnt bother. The rides are pretty unimpressive, and its only really worth spending half a day at most there, it gets boring quickly and its about 30 euro.

As for going out, there are a few places, all the Hotels have bars, they are the only places allowed to sell alcohol. I would recomend the Irish Village, its a very sureal place. It closely resembles... well you geussed it an Irish Village, with a big row of shop fronts and a semi-authentic Irish pub inside. Trust the Irish eh? We go half way around the world to an Arabian Paradise, and we still manage to end up in an Irish pub! ~D

I wish I was going back! ~:)

Its a great place for buying electronics and clothes as well.

yes, retouchpro is a great site and no, i havent been on photo.net, other than to take a brief look after i saw your mention of it.

as for those images with the fine print, nope, that very, very small print and the even smaller print at the bottom i cant handle. try the C.I.A. ;) i can make out a few words and letters, but mostly not. you'd have to have a better scan/image.

nice pics, Ser! i upgraded to paint shop pro 9....gonna have to take a look at one or two of those in it :)

Dont worry then. If you can ask for a room with a beach view. The hotels are pretty helpfull about this. As I was there, they were just starting to afix the shinny outsides to most of the buildings, with these on, they will look a hell of a lot nicer by the time you arive.

thanks voight, ser, r'as :) those are fun to do.

there's no 'secret', i'm afraid; just using paint shop pro 9 and some techniques i've learned. that particular technique i somewhat borrowed from a script in psp 9. instead of using the script, however, i simply read the text and used a few of the things they were doing, but altered quite a bit from there.

i'm afraid i couldnt work on the one r'as posted. seems there was a storm in progress and by the time i could get to it things had changed too much...
