Hello, I have been here for about a week now but I forgot/didn't know about this place.

I am a student and I live in the Isle of Man over here in the British Isles.

I'm loving RTW (thats why I'm here).

Firstly: there has been mention of other threads that junior members can post in. I thought this was the only one. Could anyone tell me where the other places we can post are? Any of the ones within the "New Members" section I'm sure, but are there any others? I haven't posted in a while because I haven't had anything relavent to say in this thread, and since I'm not a full member yet, I didn't where else I really could post.

Secondly: how long does it usually take to get a response to a new topic on this site? I had some modding questions a while ago (middle of April), and Ludens helped me by starting a thread in the Alchemist Lab for me. I have watched it, but there haven't been any responses. I think it might be a lost cause. ~:( :surrender:

Lastly: Welcome all new members! :balloon2:

Post-Lastly: Spell checker is broken. I'm suppose to notify the webmaster. How do I do that? (yeah, I'm one of those people) :laugh4:

Welcome, GeneralMike! ~

As far as I know, you can post in the whole of the New Members forum, in the Hosted Mods section, and perhaps even the RTW modding section. Not sure about that last one though.

Some posts get lots of responses quickly, some threads die out in a very short time. It all depends on the content.

PM KukriKhan, the forum administrator, to inform him.

For membership information, have a look at the guild FAQ (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=45416). There are many more forums where junior members can post, apart from the new members area. Anyway, you are a full member now, so you can post almost anywhere.

Like Tiberius said, it depends a bit, but usually response come within one or two days (though it may take a bit longer on slow forums). A thread a month old is very unlikely to get an answer, though you may try to rephrase and repost your question.

Post-Lastly: Spell checker is broken. I'm suppose to notify the webmaster. How do I do that? (yeah, I'm one of those people) :laugh4:

I am inspired. This is a site on a game where you kill thousands in order to gain control of an empire (all of which I enjoy and this post is not a slam towards the Total War series, just pointing out a simple truth), the skull is appropriate. If this was a game where you won by the amount of puppies you petted, then I would find a smiley petting a puppy and maybe one skipping through a field of poppy flowers while singing old nursey rymes.

Welcome new folks to the happy killings fields of the Org. Even though its a game that involves countless fields of decimated armies, assasinations, revolts and so on, let me skip around like someone just medicated me with a little too much lithium and say with a giant drug induced grin... Welcome New folks, hugs and kisses!!!

Don't let my online persona turn you off. I'm a nice guy in real life I just have a different sense of humor. It's good to see the new blood in here and I like saying howdy to the new folks. You'd be surprised, I've helped several folks here during my time in the org whether it be gaming advice, personal advice, and even spiritual advice. The best part about this site is its a large and diverse community with MILLIONS of ideas and personalities. There are plenty of niches and groups that can make just about anyone feel at home. And yes, there are even other nutjobs like me that make my existance here tolerable!!! I've let my "puppy take control" many times here in the Org. Like I tell a lot of the new folks, take some time to know folks around here, even if you disagree with them, you'll find that maybe deep down inside you'll really like them and even care for them.

hey i became a member a while ago and i want to fist say that i really like this forum. it is very great and the suggestions are awesome. i still cant figure one thing out though. i make a few mods here and there to make it how i like it and what not, but i hate the fact of jedi generals(how like a 6 star general can alone kill like 100 guys or something crazy). i want to know of a way to alter the heath bonus attached to command stars. the only way i can think to do that is to change the Medieval_TW.exe file but i dont know how to do that. or if someone has already made an altered exe file that would be good too. anyways it would be great if someone could help me out on this wanting to remove jedi generals. thanks

Ludens
05-20-2006, 19:00
I am afraid it is not possible to do anything about the jedi generals. This is all encoded in the .exe file and cannot be changed. Messing with the .exe may even be illegal.

Still, welcome to the Org, Archungel. I hope you will enjoy your stay ~ .

IrishArmenian, I think you'll like MTW. RTW is good and the graphics are better, but MTW's battlefield tactics is great and take longer than the RTW battles. Instead of the mad dash, you have to plan it out and manuver correctly or you'll get your butt handed back to you by the enemy. Try it out brother, its cheap now and very enjoyable.:2thumbsup:

Hello. Test test 1, 2, 3. Is this thing on? I play MTW regular, no patches or updates...yet. Pretty neato game, Ive always enjoyed this genre of games (I played Conqueror 1086, Lords of the realm II, Age of Empires...). When i first gave this game a try a few years ago I found the battles too involved and difficult, and always autocalced them. I enjoyed the year by year building and economics of the game. But now I really enjoy the battles the most and the involvement of "politics" and character behind each faction and its units. So far Ive played Italy and English campaigns (I like to control the seas and create a mass of wealth before I begin conqueroring the map). Anyways just thought I'd say hello.

Also I've been fooling around with the map editor and custom/historical battle tools a lot (I love coming up with sketches and ideas for maps or creating maps from real battles in the past) and I have a gettysburg map and historical battle package. Just needs some more fine tweaking. Nothing like watching several thousand arquebusier march in formation across an open field under canon fire a la pickett's charge. Well catch ya later...

p.s. I love the site and forum. So much helpful info and friendly people. It rocks!!!:2thumbsup:

Hi to all,

i'm Archayon.

My interest lay in the Middle Ages (duh)
medieval warfare, religion and persecution

I live in Belgium, and i'm a student in medieval studies
(Louvain)

When i was on a trip in Germany in November '05,
i found a game dedicated to the Middle Ages,
looking a lot more realistic than most games,
so i bought it.

Today i have a real addiction for several months now
to MTW (German version :inquisitive: )

I'm reading this forum since a couple of months,
and i found it very useful !
I like it when members of the Org here sometimes
slightly loose the connection to the game,
and begin discussing the Middle Ages itself :book: .
So finally i registered too.

Hey all. I am new to this site but not to the Total War series. I got Shogun from a friend and played it a lot. Then i went and bough Medieval and played that all the time. Then as soon as Rome came out i bought it and have been playing a ton. I am not much of a multiplayer kind of guy, i play it everyonce in a while, but i am really into campaigns. I do a little modding, just messing around with stats, i might look more into that as i see you have a nice section on modding. Well, later.

Hi All,

Like many I started with Shogun, and loved it, but was a little hesitant about getting MTW. I was worried that it wouldnt be as good.
I shouldnt listen to the voices in my head, they do scare me sometimes! :help:

I am back into MTW, having owned the game for some time, and I have found the information in the guides and manuals to be of incredible value, many thanks to frogbeastegg and his helpers.

You may see me lurking around from time to time, work gets in the way of so many things.

That depends on whether you are into modding M:TW or R:TW. M:TW is winding down at the moment, and so is its mod scene, but it wouldn't harm to look around. On the other hand, almost all R:TW mods are screaming for talented modders. It seems people rather start their own mod than join an existing one, resulting in a lot mods, most of which never seem to get finished. However, if you are not that experienced, I suggest you first have a look at the Repository (M:TW) (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=39) or the Scriptorium (R:TW) (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=77). You will find many tutorials for modding there, and practicing a bit (and having something to show) will improve your chances of getting a position in a mod team.

BTW welcome to the Org, everyone ~ .

Hey, well I originally came here just to get the Extended Greek Mod which a friend recommended and I looked around the site and decided I should register and become a member here. I have been playing the totalwar series since Medieval. I own Medieval, Rome, and Barbarian Invasion for Rome. I like Rome the best, but Barbarian Invasion is good too. I am also looking to join a clan and this looks like a good place to find one.

Don't worry D Wilson - it doesn't take long. I have a little guy almost 6 who loves to sit & watch MTW....and he has already become quite the in house age of empires expert!

Btothexicus Maximus

Greetings! I am the Btothexicus Maximus, head of the state religion of Btothex. You see Btothex Empire is structured upon a hierarchy starting with the Btothexicus Maximus. Below myself is my Council of Cardinals. Upon the Death of a Btothexicus Maximus the Council of Cardinals convenes to elect a new Btothexicus Maixmus from among their own number or a man of Extreme Piety!

Below the Cardinals are the appointed regional representatives. Each region is headed by a Bishop and each major city in a region is headed by an ArchBishop. Within certain Holy or Chosen cities are schools for the trianings of Btothexamonks which supply the numerous priesthood that fills Btothex.

Btothexism is a devout religion never putting violence away as a solution to heresy. For once there was a famous crisis in the Btothexgovernment. The bible states,

Thru many days and years
of war didst the Btothex EMpire
become mighty soverigns of the
lands

Yet the Otothexists grew storng
outside the borders
converting barbarous barbarians to
their religion!

And one day, finally
didst a horde of 7 million
Otothexicans pour into Btothexalands!
Their leader, Otothtexidamus besieged Hippotopolis
and didst defeat a relief army of 100,000
taht didst challenge his might

Hippotopolis was most storng in Botthexafortifications
yet it didst fall to an Otothexaram!
And so was it occupied
and its people forced to be Otothexislaves

A young naive commander named Btothexasil
didst raise an army of 800,000 recruit
but twas defeated in an ambush
and 100,000 men were captured and enslaved!

But, Alas!, the great Lord had not abandoned
his people in the face of danger!
For the Otothexicans didst threaten Botthexatopia
But a mgihty COmmander who was a vetran of
the wars didst step forth

And this man named Btothexagarance
riased an army of vetrans 700,000 strong
and marched on the Ototheicans
But a week before the great clash
a Btothexist named Btothexaero
slayed his new master Otothexidamus
in single combat!

And so did the Otothexists lose heart
and a week later they met Btothexagarance
and slot in a great battle!
Three and a half million were slain
and the rest fled to Otothexatown!

Yet as th gates were opened
to the Otothexisoliders, Ho! and Yae Verily,
Btothexgarance led his troops in as well
The troops were butchered like chidlren
and Ho! didst Btothex Emprie conquer

All the heretic texts were burned
as was the city
At the end of the day
the great Empire triumphed over heresy!
And where Otothexitown once stood,
a giant 900 feet statue was made
showing Btothexagarance
slay the Ototheixcans

A structure which stands this day!

For such was the Will of our Lord Btothexicus, greta priases be unto him! I must bid ye farewell me children and remember, Be at peace with our Lord Btothexicus, great exultatibe unto him! Show piety in the face of heresy and profess gratiude for the blessing of Btothexicus, great is he!

Your Father in Btothex,

BTOTHEXICUS MAXIMUS

Howdy y'all.

That nice automated welcome screen suggested I come to this here thread and welcome myself so here I am. I would've been here sooner but I got distracted by all the semi-nekkid Japanese princess avatars. In the end, I decided to go with one that looks more like me, since I actually bear no resemblance to a semi-nekkid Japanese princess.

Well that's it. My first post and already off on a tangent. Plus I said "nekkid" twice. (Now three times).

I want to try out one of these here smiley-cons too, so here:

Greetings all.
I have ben playing MTW and have just joined the org.
Says there are over 56.000 threads and nearly a million posts. May take me a while to get caught up.
Anyway, I am a nearly 30 year veteran of miniature figure and board wargaming and think that the ToTal War series is the best of both worlds on the computer.

Gday.
I am a long time lurker at these boards. Have played through all the Total War series (not including Alexander). Initially disappointed with Rome but after patches and the Barbarian expansion Im a convert!
Really impressed with some of the mods and am dying to have a crack at Blue Lotus once I get a new computer.
This is a well run board and a credit to the moderators.
A big hello to everyone!

Hail!

My Name is Allan, and i go under the nick "ATE".

"ATE" is short for "Allan The Evil", a nick i got playing "Marathon" on a MAC about 15 years ago.

I have been playing most RTS, and all of the HoMM's. Untill 1½ year ago, i played a lot of CS, but got bored with it. I've been playing RTW ever since, mainly because it historical and have great battles, but it's also a game you can always "pause".

So far i finished campaigns as Gaul, carthrigde, Greeks and Julii. Julii 3 times, the last time i went "total world domination". I am currently trying to do Egypt, as fast as possible.
I also finished Julii and Gaul with RTR mod.

I find the game lacks another level of difficulty, VH/VH is simply to easy. I have yet to be beaten, also when i challange the entire world.

I've been looking here a few times the past year, but never signed up (screw your stupid strong password policy ;) ).
