Unit Description

Kerns are a fast harassing unit available to the Irish. They are mainly a missile unit, but once out of ammo they can be used to charge the flank or rear of a unit already in combat. Their quick speed also means they can run down routers, or harass the enemy's missile units once the battle is joined. They have low defense and will likely take many casualties if bogged down in combat for long.

Kerns begin battles in skirmish formation. Due to the short range of their javelins, they should be taken off skirmish when the battle begins to allow them to get close enough to throw their missiles.

Kerns throw javelins, which can decimate even heavily armoured enemies. Using their speed, Kerns can be used to quickly move around to the side or rear of a pinned enemy unit and hit it with devastating volleys. Their javelins are optimal against heavily armoured infantry and heavy cavalry, capable of great damage to high cost units.
