Unit Description
Avar Nobles are available to all factions from Moldavia during the Early period. They are Elite like knights, but are also Disciplined which makes them easy to control. Avar Nobles are some of the best heavy cavalry available in Early, arguably the match for knight units as well. They carry the standard cavalry shield which protects them in melee and from missile weapons.
Avar Noble tactics are the same as most Knight and heavy cavalry units: flank the enemy, charge them in the rear, repeat as necessary. Avoid frontal charges into spear and pike units, avoid polearm units unless an instant rout is assured, and avoid camels.
In siege battles, Avar Nobles may be dismounted for Armoured Spearmen.
