Unit Description

Gothic Foot Knights cannot be recruited, they are available only by dismounting Gothic Knights in any battle. They are slow and very heavily armoured, coupled with their high morale they will be able to stand against all odds for an extended period of time in battle. Instead of a shield, they carry two-handed swords giving them an armour piercing attack and making them very deadly in melee. While their high armour protects them from normal missiles, Gothic Foot Knights should be kept away from armour piercing missile fire, they are too expensive to waste in this manner.

While slow and small for a sword unit, Gothic Foot Knights are tough enough to make up for these deficiencies once the battle starts. They should be placed front and center and sent after high value enemy units. The decision to dismount Gothic Knights to Foot Knights should be made according to the army compositions and battlefield terrain.

The game files have them gaining +1 bonus to valour when recruited in Brandenburg, but since they cannot be recruited this is not relevant to the game.
