Unit Description
Highland Clansmen are available to Catholic and Orthodox factions from Scotland. They have very good attack and charge coupled with no armour and poor defense, meaning they will kill and be killed very quickly during melee. Combined with their fast speed, this makes Highland Clansmen excellent flankers, but since they are Impetuous they need to be watched to keep them out of trouble. They are equipped with a small shield which helps protect them both from missiles and in melee.
Highland Clansmen are cheap and easy to recruit once Scotland is conquered, and they can fill many roles where an expendable but deadly unit is necessary. Once conquered, it is a good idea to build religious structures to increase the morale of units recruited there, this will make the Clansmen more reliable. They are an excellent unit for desert campaigning due to their low armour value, so constructing Armourer line buildings in Scotland should depend on the need for desert troops.
Highland Clansmen get a +1 valour bonus when trained in Scotland, and since this is the only province where they are available, all Clansmen units start out with valour 1.
