Unit Description
Huscarles are available to all factions in the Early period from the Scandinavian provinces. They are one of the better infantry units in the campaign, being Elite, armour piercing, with good all around attack, defense, and morale statistics. While they will do well against most units in melee, they are most effective against heavily armoured infantry and (preferably pre-pinned) cavalry. Since their axes are two-handed weapons, Huscarles do not use their shields in melee, only for protection from missiles. Huscarles should avoid armour piercing enemy units, especially armour piercing missiles, as they are too expensive to be wasted in this manner.
Once the High period arrives, Huscarles cannot be recruited or retrained.
