Unit Description

Hashishin are a special unit available to the Muslim factions. They take two turns to build, and have only 12 men in the unit, but can be deadly when used properly. Hashishin units have the ability to hide anywhere on the battlefield, not just in trees. This makes them perfect for setting up ambushes and trapping enemy units.

While Hashishin are armed with bows, melee is where they will thrive, especially once they are have gained a few levels of valour. They can be used to attack the flank or rear of an enemy unit when coming out of hiding, their excellent combat stats and speed allow them to drive home the ambush advantage. They should avoid getting into the middle of a battle though, their small numbers make them vulnerable in head on fights.

When set to ambush, make sure that Skirmish and Fire At Will are both turned off to keep them hidden.

The bow Hashishin use does not have any armour piercing bonus, so firing on heavily armoured units will have minimal effect. They also fire on an arc, which means the shot takes a while to reach the target and can miss fast moving units altogether. Archer effectiveness will suffer in rainy weather.
