Unit Description
Ottoman Sipahi are available to the Turks in the Late period. Although classed as heavy cavalry, they are not Elite and have weaker stats and morale than most heavy cavalry units. Ottoman Sipahi carry the standard cavalry shield which protects them in melee and from missile weapons.
Ottoman Sipahi tactics are the same as most Knight and heavy cavalry units: flank the enemy, charge them in the rear, repeat as necessary. Avoid frontal charges into spear and pike units, avoid polearm units unless an instant rout is assured, and avoid camels. Ottoman Sipahi stats are somewhat weaker than most heavy cavalry, so care should be used when picking their targets. They can be used as light cavalry as well.
Ottoman Sipahi trained in Edessa and Rum gain a +1 bonus to valour.
In siege battles, Ottoman Sipahi may be dismounted for Turcoman Foot Soldiers.
