Unit Description
Byzantine Lancers are available to the Byzantines during the Early and High periods. They are Elite like knights, but are also Disciplined which makes them easy to control. Byzantine Lancers carry the standard cavalry shield which protects them in melee and from missile weapons.
Byzantine Lancers are loosely classified as heavy cavalry, but they are really too weak to fulfill that role. They are more suited to light cavalry duty, and their Elite, Disciplined mentality will help them in this role.
In siege battles, Byzantine Lancers may be dismounted for Armoured Spearmen.
