Unit Description
Pikemen become available in the Late period. In theory, Pikemen are supposed to replace the spear units, their increased rank bonus makes them very hard to break through. However, due to the decreased frontage caused by optimizing for the rank bonus, pike units are vulnerable to being wrapped around in combat. They are very effective at holding ground at bridges and gates though, and can be effective if their formations are solid and flanks are protected.
Pikemen recruited in Tyrolia get a +1 bonus to valour.
