The Barque is the main first level ship available to the non-Mediterranean based factions. It is restricted to coastal waters, but it serves it's purpose opening trade routes with other factions.
The Danes can build Barques, but they should build Longboats instead, as they are cheaper and perform the same function. Barques are not available to the Novgorod, they are limited to Longboats as their first level ships but do get the rest of the non-Med based ships.
