Unit Description
Halberdiers and other polearm units become available in the High period. With their armour piercing attack and bonuses against cavalry, polearm units are meant to counter heavy cavalry, but basic Halberdiers are just a step above militia and will suffer from frontal charges by knights. Their low attack and morale will hurt them in this situation, so it is better to use a spear unit to take cavalry charges. They work better with flank attacks, but are slow so it may be difficult to time the maneuver correctly.
The high armour value of Halberdiers allows them to withstand arrow fire for a very long time, and they can hold well against infantry that does not have an armour piercing attack.
