The Longboat is a holdover from the Viking days. It is cheap to build and maintain, and is the best choice for establishing trade routes early in the game. It is limited to coastal regions, and is no longer available when the Late period starts. For the People of Novgorod, the Longboat is the only vessel available until the High period.
Longboats built in Denmark start with +1 valour. The Danes should use Longboats excessively, blanketing the coasts all the way to the Mediterranean for trading and invasion opportunities.
