The Caravel is the second level ship available to the non-Mediterranean based factions. It is the first deep-water ship these factions can build, but they must wait until the start of the High period before they are available. Caravels have decent offensive capability, but are slow and may have trouble catching the enemy ships.
Caravels built in Portugal start with +1 valour.
